I've just done a bit of googling about the sponges thing and apparently Davina McCall had it too. I have no desire to actually eat them, just chew them so I'm not sure if it is Pica? I seem to remember doing it occasionally when I was very young (4/5 yrs old), perhaps it's a psychological thing! I didn't get it in my previous pregnancy. I feel like a freak!!

clarish84 · 29/03/2016 15:25

laughing I had the exact same thing with my other 4 children but not this on straingly I thought I was cracking up and took me ages befor I told anyone lol x

strawberrypenguin · 29/03/2016 15:38

I seem to eating a lot at the moment, I'm really hungry. Annoying as I have to keep my blood sugar under control too so I'm quiet limited snack wise. Probably a good thing though as I really want to eat a lot of chocolate but can't!
Curry is my 'craving' I could happily eat it for every meal at the moment - it's normally no where near my top choice!

mrsmugoo · 29/03/2016 15:55

I gained weight on maternity leave but then my eating was out of control through boredom really. When I put my mind to it lost 2 stone in about 4/5 months. This time I'm hoping to just go straight into weightloss and be back to normal by Xmas.

I've gained about a stone and a half so far which is crazy to think I weighed more than I do now, this time last year! Hoping I only gain another half stone or so (basically just baby).

iamdivergent · 29/03/2016 16:27

Had my 28 week mw appt today and whooping cough vaccine.

My usual mw is off sick so had someone new this time, she was nice enough. She took bloods but then called me about 15mins ago to say that they'd been rejected for some reason and I have to go get them repeated tomorrow Confused everything else was fine, baby was head down and although I look massive, bump is only measuring 27cm.

Eastend2015 · 29/03/2016 16:28

I've gained about 9kg so about a stone and a half too- I do think it's mostly bump but am definitely eating more. I am trying to keep it relatively healthy but definitely eating loads of fruit and chocolate 🙄 Indigestion making an appearance too which is dampening my usual desire for spice. I'm so tired today- partly a 7.30am yoga class but also DIY yesterday and 3 episodes of game of thrones. Zzzzzzzz!

Torfhinn · 29/03/2016 18:55

I'm bridesmaid when baby will be around 8 weeks old! No way I'll be able to lose weight in the first 8 weeks so I've requested a 'tummy friendly' dress! At least the squidgy newborn will give me an excuse Grin

We've started on the diy as well. .. a small project that's turned into a full bedroom re-do! The only things we are keeping are the mattress and curtains! How did that happen?!

Violet88 · 29/03/2016 20:17

I'm also going to be a bridesmaid in late august for my best friend, who was a bridesmaid for me at my wedding. On last check i've put on about a stone and a half. I've got a huge bump but I've also been having really hungry days when I'm eating a too much too, so think its a bit of both!!

Spock27 · 29/03/2016 20:58

So angry. Why do people think it's ok to come to the office when they're ill and spread their germs around? Particularly in a small office with a heavily pregnant woman? Managed to stay well the whole winter despite taking the bus every day, but now I've caught a cold and feeling like shit Angry

strawberrypenguin · 29/03/2016 21:03

Sorry your feeling rubbish spock I think this time of year is particularly bad for 'bugs' almost everyone I know has had something in the last month or so!

jellybelly85 · 29/03/2016 21:15

Flu is circulating later than usual too this year. Take care of yourself spock (and others!)

laughingGnomette · 29/03/2016 22:23

:( Spock - I hope you feel better soon!

clarish - yay! I don't feel quite so strange now! Grin

clarish84 · 29/03/2016 22:52

Yeah its weird I never ate it just wanted to chew on it I remember telling me mum I thought o was going mad she just looked at me funny and now it's a bit of a joke with the family lol
Spock I feel ypur pain I'm poorly to my sister and girlfriend came round other day and after sitting there for over an hour she says oh I'm still ill me I was like why have you come my house when ypur ill and now I feel like death warmed up have be at work at 6am and then come home and look after 4 kids while my dh goes bed because he works nights I could just cry Sad

MindfulBear · 30/03/2016 00:50

Anyone else felt faint recently? Had a couple of episodes where I get really super hot, yawn lots and then feel faint.... Not sure what to make of them. Used to happen when I was younger before the onset of a migraine but not had any of those.
Most odd.
One this morning when I hadn't eaten enough breakfast. One this evening on the osteopath's table!!! Couple of other occasions too but not so significant.
I'm 28 weeks now.

bikingintherain · 30/03/2016 02:05

DH has had the flu this last week. I really hope o don't get it. He's been pretty poorly with it.

I'm very ready for him to be better now, some of it quite selfishly!

JellyBaby26 · 30/03/2016 07:26

Mindful yes I felt so faint yesterday which is v odd for me.

No cravings except for everything under the sun! ! 🍦🍩🍰🍔🍫🍬🍟🍕🍞

JellyBaby26 · 30/03/2016 07:32

Also....had a bit of fun with dh after a bit of a drought. It was fairly uncomfortable on my bump as I'm carrying quite low.
Would it be tmi to ask what positions are going to be comfortable? I don't find "doggy style" comfy at all so that's just not going to happen! ! I fear It's all going to be a bit vanilla!

nehagarg · 30/03/2016 08:00

Mindful have you checked your blood pressure? A drop usually makes me feel faint. Sounds like your lungs might be getting squashed too like mine. You are probably yawning to pull more oxygen in. I am doing the same. I have started deep breathing and keeping my windows open. That has really helped.

Jellybaby doggy doesnt work for me either. To much weight hanging off my front now. Me on top usually works since i can control it. And spooning. The choices are fairly limited now. Smile

My kid cant seem to decide whther to be head down or up. He turned a few days ago. Came up with his head on the left. Now he is trying to complete the circle and go back down again from the right. Feels like he might burst out of me any minute. He is big enough to make me jump with his big movements now.

Hope you feel better soon Spock. I have taken to asking people if they are ill before they meet me after getting sick twice because of people who didnt give it any thought. So annoying that people dont think about it at all. Angry

clarish - sorry you're feeling poorly too and with so much on your plate Flowers

nehagarg - another spinner here too, surely they won't have room to do this for much longer?!!

mindful - I've been feeling hot but not faint. Have you been eating ok? It might be worth giving your midwife a call for her opinion, it might be a blood pressure thing.

JellyBaby - we're not exactly at it like rabbits (I can't be arsed!) but have found spooning or standing (him behind me) work best. Me on top hurts my hips and pelvis.

JellyBaby26 · 30/03/2016 09:38

I wouldn't be angry at someone for coming near me with a cold. I don't think people realise that when your pregnant you can't take any medicine.

Selfishly I would go to work with a cold if there was a pregnant person there otherwise I'd have to take a sick day!

Going to try spooning or standing next time. On top was uncomfortable on the bump!

Spock27 · 30/03/2016 10:05

Thanks guys, illness when pregnant is really no fun is it? clarish I hope you feel better soon! Sounds like you've got a lot on your plate, any family or friends nearby who can help out with the kids for a couple of nights so you can focus on getting better? You must be wonder woman to be able to core with all that at once!

mindful I was getting dizzy spells in second trimester for a while but my blood pressure was fine so not sure what it was. Blood sugar maybe? I do the yawning thing a lot though, find it hard to get a full breath in sometimes. I've read it's just another symptom as baby is pressing on your diaphragm, but it's a worrying one isn't it!

bikingintherain · 30/03/2016 11:56

I have decided that today is a day for chocolate and coffee. Screw guidelines about healthy eating and caffeine intake!

jellybelly85 · 30/03/2016 12:40

laughing nehagarg my brother changed position in my mum's womb on at least a weekly basis right up until the end of pregnancy! Fun times Hmm

Nothing but spooning is comfy for me (and I use the word comfy lightly).

High-five biking - I'm doing a purposeful detour to the supermarket to pick up some chocolate egg bargains after my 28w appointment. Nothing wrong with a treat day or 5.

mrsmugoo · 30/03/2016 12:47

Another vote for spooning - it's really all that's left now Grin

nehagarg · 30/03/2016 12:56

Good to know spinning is normal. I really need him to be head down for the big day! He can spin around as much as he likes until then. Though that said, he is traverse right now which means I cant lie on either my left or right without getting kicked!

I am living off chocolate at the moment biking Grin
