I just picked up some half price mini eggs from Tesco to add to my stash GrinChocolate

AmIseeingRight · 30/03/2016 14:23

I had my 31 wks app with the midwife today and he's still head down so lets hope he stays that way.

She did offer advice as i told her the other day he was super active all day, kicking and moving loads and she sad if he does that again I need to phone the maternity triage - I thought I only needed to worry if he doesn't move but she said its both as it can be a sign that something is wrong! so incase anyone is naive like me get checked out if movement goes up or down.

those feeling sick -i feel your pain, i had my first and hopefully only bout of a cold and it sucked as there isn't anything you can take. so staying far away from anyone who even looks like they might sneeze.

nehagarg · 30/03/2016 14:29

I had no clue that too much movement can be an issue too Shock ... Mine doesnt have any sort of pattern at all. Sometimes he goes ape shit and bounces around all day and then zonks out for the next day or two (which made me worry but now I have to worry about the active days too??).

Sheesh! At this rate, I'll spend the remaining of this pregnancy at the hospital.

Nehagarg ditto!!

Re sex, yup, spooning or me on top but me on top is getting way too much effort!

jellybelly85 · 30/03/2016 15:57

Just had 28w appointment. Midwife was awful communicator. Criticised me for not knowing my baby's movements - apparently they do have a routine by now and I'm not paying enough attention if I haven't recognised it yet. All I know if that baby's movements vary day-by-day, but they will generally be more active in the evening. Eating food/drinking doesn't always result in movement. I figure as long as they are moving relatively regularly baby is a-ok?

Quite glad to be transferring my care when we move next weekend. Chocolate purchased and consumed Chocolate

nehagarg · 30/03/2016 16:06

Yep, as long as they are moving, they are fine Jellybelly .. My one has absolutely no pattern. The midwife is being hard on you for no reason. I literally wrote down the times the baby moved every day for 3 weeks and couldn't discern a pattern. So I just go with - as long as he moves a few times a day with reasonable strength, he is fine.

JellyBaby26 · 30/03/2016 16:14

I had to buy a kicks count kick counter wristband as I am so busy with my daughter that I have no idea if he's kicking normally.

Midwife sounds unnecessarily harsh and like others have said as long as there is movement that is similar daily it's OK!

strawberrypenguin · 30/03/2016 16:48

No real routine of movements here either apart from he's pretty much guaranteed to move after I eat or annoyingly poke me accurately in the bladder if I really need the loo! I think you do get a general sense for them though. I find being kicked while I'm driving really weird!

Eastend2015 · 30/03/2016 17:36

Yup definitely sounds harsh Jelly!!

At home early following a surprisingly efficient trip to the GP for the whooping cough vaccine- in and out in 10 minutes! Now enjoying a cuppa, cake and "say yes to the dress" for an hour before going to pregnancy yoga. Bliss! I have been running from meeting to meeting all day though so I feel like I deserve it!

dollydaydream84 · 30/03/2016 17:45

hello all, I haven't been here for ages, found it sooo hard to keep up at one point but really missing talking to other pregnant people! I am almost 28 weeks now (due late June). We have done our DD1 bedroom but waiting for building work to commence before we can do little ones nursery. I have back and hip pain too. Still not decided on VBAC or ELCS - have a VBAC clinic appointment next week so that might help me to decide.

Congrats to Tatted, can't imagine having the little one here yet! Hope everyone is well :)

laughingGnomette · 30/03/2016 18:27

That sounds like a lovely evening Eastend - enjoy!

Welcome back dolly, I'm also still undecided regarding VBAC or ELCS but I'm thinking i'd like to be booked for an ELCS around my due date and if baby decides to come early I'll try VBAC. I'm not happy about induction. Midwife thought this was a sensible approach too so fingers crossed the consultant agrees. Good luck with your appointment, I hope it eases some concerns that you may have.

laughingGnomette · 30/03/2016 18:32

jellybaby - Hmm I agree, that sounds very harsh! This baby does not have a set routine. He tends to be still when I'm walking and if I've been sitting for a while he'll kick and squirm!

MollieRos · 30/03/2016 18:46

JellyBaby that does seem very harsh. I definitely wouldn't be able to say what this one's routine is, other than that he seems to kick me throughout the day.

Amiseeingright I've never heard that either! Like nehagarg I have days where he's going absolutely crazy in there, and my bump's bulging and moving all over the place, and other days when he's a lot quieter. Another thing to worry about!

Welcome back dolly, sorry you're having hip and back pain. And I'll join you on waiting for building work, I just want our house to not be a building site any more!

I had my 31 week midwife appointment today. All was good, had a listen to the heartbeat. The baby is still head down, bum in my ribs- he's been that way round the entire time (though keeps going transverse recently I'm sure) so I just hope he stays like that for the next 9 weeks! She measured my bump and I've gone from the 90th centile to being off the top of the chart, eek! She said that if it continues to move upwards so fast I'll maybe need a growth scan. It's funny really because everyone I see tells me I have a tiny bump and can't believe I'm due in 9 weeks.

emma85x · 30/03/2016 19:13

jellybelly your mw sounds lovely! Thank goodness you're moving! I very rarely feel baby move (anterior placenta) and there's definitely no pattern!

Spock I hope you feel better soon.

All this talk of chocolate and I rang DH straight away and asked him to pick up a Dairy Milk on his way home. His response was 'It's such an effort to stop off, do I have to?' YES, YES YOU DO. Fool.

dollydaydream84 · 30/03/2016 19:30

I like that plan laughinggnomette - I either want an ELCS or one of those slightly early surprise births which take 30 minutes from start to finish and have no problems for mum or baby. ELCS looking much more realistic! Can I ask why you had an EMCS last time? I fully dilated, pushed for a couple of hours but baby didn't move. They are keen for me to have a VBAC as my body can get to fully dilated, it just couldn't budge the baby!

Glad your appointment went well MollieRos - I had a growth scan with DD1 but as far as weights go they are quite innaccurate so don't worry too much about them. Specific measurements like head circumference are more accurate but as for weights they can regularly be a couple of pound out!

laughingGnomette · 30/03/2016 19:53

dolly - It sounds like you are a good candidate for a VBAC. Did they say anything about the position of your last baby? One thing that put my mind at rest (although the policy may be different at other hospitals) was that I'd call the shots this time, so if I wasn't happy with the way labour was progressing I could opt to go straight to C-section. I had one last time because despite having the drip in for a day, I could not get past 3cm (failure to progress) and my baby's heartbeat was dipping, plus there was meconium in my waters so he was clearly in distress. He was also back to back which didn't help matters.

Different baby in a better position could be a completely different ball game for both of us :)

PeanutJuice · 30/03/2016 19:58

How can everyone tell how their baby is positioned? I have no idea!

JellyBaby26 · 30/03/2016 20:04

peanut your mw will tell you at appointments.

You can usually tell if it's head down if hiccups are low down. I can only tell with hiccups but no idea if back to back or which way his bottom is.

I'm so excited. We got a chest freezer off Facebook tonight and I can't wait to fill it with homemade ice cream and lolly pops! Also going to make loads of batches of food for when dh is back to work and for his leave.

We did it last time and although we spent weeks in NICU it was really helpful when we got home and I was miserable and didn't want to cook!

dollydaydream84 · 30/03/2016 20:15

So basically everything was against you laughingGnomette?! DD1 head was 95th centile so they have agreed to scan me closer to the time to see if I've got a tiddly baby this time with a normal sized head!! Sadly and frustratingly they can't seem to comment on why DD1 didn't descend, I know some pelvic shapes aren't good for birthing naturally but the notes didn't indicate that was/wasn't the case- I think knowing that would help me decide but sadly they can't answer it. They did say she was stuck on my bladder that is all I know. They gave up in the end as DD1 heartrate was indicating she was tiring. I would love a "natural" birth as I did love the experience of the labour but I just can't help but feel it'd all go pearshaped at the last minute again. I feel so lucky that the end product (DD1) was perfectly healthy but can't help worrying that a second failed natural labour wouldn't end so well. The consultant was lovely but said I'm basing my decisions on things that are statistically unlikely to happen but its hard not too!

Peanutjuice I have no idea how baby is positioned, all I know is it is a wriggler!

Jellybelly yay for freezer though I've just laughed at how icecream and lollypops were focused on before real food haha :D like your style!

nehagarg · 30/03/2016 21:46

Oooh. Now I want an ice lolly!

Ladies It's almost time for thread #8, maybe the one where June Babies arrive - very excited Grin

MollieRos · 30/03/2016 22:22

peanut like JellyBaby I can tell where his head is when he's hiccuping- usually I feel them through my cervix or in my bum! And recently I've been able to feel a big smooth lump up by my ribs, which I guessed was a bum, and the midwife confirmed it was today. Other times I get kicks and flails and little things poking out of my bump right round to each side (usually both sides together!), so those times I'm guessing he's either spreadeagled or transverse Smile

laughing it does sound like this time you'll have much more control over everything.

jellybaby I'm so jealous of your freezer! We have the tiniest freezer and no space for a chest freezer, every time I put anything in there I have a little moan about having no freezer space!

MindfulBear · 01/04/2016 02:00

According to my research lying on my back on the osteopath table may have caused my funny turn as it compresses a bein which drops bp
