Congratulations laughing that's such exciting news. I love being married!

Just been upgraded to first class with London Midland thanks to the bump- more space for knitting! We are on our way to the MILs for some much needed R&R (and escaping DIY!).

Congrats laughing what a lovely surprise for your babymoon Smile

Sorry to hear you're not well Mrsmugoo! Hope you feel better soon. I had my whooping cough/diphtheria/tetanus/polio vax yesterday.

I'm looking for some opinions/advice. Last night DH and I were at our antenatal class. It finished at 9.30pm and we left and went to our car that was parked on the street. As I was getting in the car, another car turned right onto our street just infront of us. I quickly closed the door as it was wide open and I didn't want them to hit us. They were driving really slowly but I didn't think anything of it, until a really loud bang went off just behind us which turned out to be a firework. DH had noticed that as they passed us the passenger was leaning out of the car pointing something at us - which must have been the firework.

I was really in shock yesterday as I couldn't get over what would have happened if I hadn't closed the door or if the firework had gone off sooner - that would have hit me and the baby. I couldn't sleep last night and still can't concentrate today at work. I'm not usually one for dramas or theatrics but I feel on the verge of tears quite a lot. Do you think this is just hormones and it will pass? I'm not sure what to do about it, obviously we're fine and nothing did happen so there's not really any point in stressing about it but I can't get it out of my head. Any advice? I tried talking to DH about it last night but, as supportive and wonderful as he is, he's not very good at dealing with problems that don't have solutions and he ended up just trying to take my mind off it by changing the subject. Not in a dismissive way or anything, it's just that he's a problem solver at heart!

MadrigalElectromotive · 25/03/2016 11:31

That sounds awful Spock. I'm sure the shock will pass but it must have been really alarming at the time. I have found that things seem to bother me more in pregnancy, so that could be happening to you too. Try to take care of yourself and I hope you feel less upset soon. Thanks

Hope you're feeling a bit better now too mrsmugoo.

GrubbyWindows · 25/03/2016 11:49

Oh my goodness, spock how terrifying! Have you spoken to the police?
There is some good evidence that writing can really help process traumatic experiences- spending 20 mins writing about what happened and how you feel, and how it is affecting you, on three consecutive days, is meant to really help. I'm sure you can find more info online with a bit of a Google- I am in no way a qualified anything, I just saw something in a book...

Congrats laughing, exciting news!!

Spock27 · 25/03/2016 12:37

Thanks both Smile

No we haven't spoken to the police, we thought about phoning them last night just after it happened but I just wanted to get home to be honest. Which was the wrong decision as clearly they could have gone on to do it to someone else and had better aim this time.

I think I'll try that writing tip Grubby, I did find it a bit cathartic to write it down in the post above. Not very good at talking about things that upset me at the moment as I just dissolve and become completely incomprehensible! Hopefully feel a bit better too when I've had a proper sleep.

Thanks again Smile

Osirus · 25/03/2016 12:49

I can't believe some of us are now hitting 30 weeks! It doesn't seem that long ago we were posting our BFPs. Had my 28 week appointment yesterday. Bump measuring 28.5cm but had traces of glucose in urine sample. Midwife thought this might be because I had some chocolate before the appointment but we did a blood test anyway. I've also put on 6kg, which I didn't think was too bad considering the amount I can eat!

MollieRos · 25/03/2016 13:31

spock that sounds really scary. What a horrible thing for them to do. No advice I'm afraid, though Grubby's suggestion sounds like a good one. Might be worth a ring to the non-emergency police just to give them the info and a description if you can- if they continued to cause trouble someone else might have also reported them.

Second day in a row I've thrown my breakfast back up and spent the morning feeling rubbish. Looks like the morning sickness is settling back in. It's meant that I haven't been nearly as productive as I was planning on being today (I was hoping to get the last coat of paint on a wardrobe I've been re-painting, and should have been nearly finished by this time, but in fact I haven't even started yet). I nearly had a little "feeling sorry for myself" weep earlier but held myself together. DH is being very sweet and managed to cheer me up with a cuddle and a dance round the bedroom.

GrubbyWindows · 25/03/2016 13:42

Ouf mollie third trimester morning sicknesses, so unfair!!!
I was you (minus the chucking) last weekend- I then slept all afternoon on Saturday and all morning on Sunday and regained my humanity

strawberrypenguin · 25/03/2016 15:59

Congratulations laughing Flowers

Sounds scary spock hope you feel more settled soon. I do think pregnancy hormones can make the 'what ifs' worse.

Sorry your feeling rubbish mollie

Does anyone else have sore skin on their bump. Mine been really tender the last few days - feels almost like sunburn. I know it's just stretching skin but combined with a persistent back ache I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself!

cautiousoptimist1 · 25/03/2016 16:05

Congratulations laughing, what a lovely surprise on your holiday. Vienna is beautiful too.

mollie and mrsmugoo hope you both feel better soon.

spock that's scary, I'd have been thinking about it too but second the suggestion to write it all down to help you process it.

I had my 28 week appointment on Wednesday and like osirus have a trace of glucose, midwife thinks it was from breakfast so no extra tests yet just a note in case it's the same next time. I have an annoying rash on my hands too which seems to be pregnancy eczema!

I've had a lovely day pottering in the garden today but paying for it with backache now.

iamdivergent · 25/03/2016 17:15

Congratulations on your engagement laughing

I love the little cardigan eastend

That must have been scary spock hope you're OK now. Did you contact the police?

Hope everyone who is ill/feeling down etc perks up soon. Can't believe I'm in the third trimester - scary! I'm off work for a fortnight now and when I go back I only have 7 weeks left at work before maternity leave! Mental. Bought some cot sheets and a lovely Joie bouncy chair from Mothercare the other day, the bouncer was half the price of other online stores so I am happy with my bargain - just waiting on it being delivered now.

I think I only need to get baby monitors, a comforter (plus a couple of spares) and toiletries and that's it! I'm fairly organised, even got a changing bag off ebay that looks fantastic and it was a bargain - it's a pacapod one with little pods for feeding/changing stuff plus plenty of space for my stuff too. I have loads of newborn clothes now as well so fingers crossed I'm prepared enough.

Midwife on Tuesday for 28wks appt bloods and whooping cough vaccine on the day too. Wonder if she'll want to talk about my home birth anymore? She said she will have to come do a risk assessment soon too but I don't anticipate any issues.

JellyBaby26 · 25/03/2016 17:43

Congratulations laughing! I'd love to get married again and again (to my dh of course!!)

I think this baby has moved as was making huge movements last night or early morning can't really remember and now movements feel so light I feel like I have had none today. Going to call tomorrow if the same!

Belleboo23 · 25/03/2016 17:56

Jelly if the cold drink trick doesn't work well I'd ring today for peace of mind, everyone has always said about how nice the midwives are and always happy to check

nehagarg · 25/03/2016 19:33

Jellybaby definitely call asap if you are not sure of movements. My midwife said 99% of the time its nothing but urged me to call whenever I was unsure. Mine have been light today too but my one is prone to lazy days so as long as he is moving I am ok.

Went Shopping for a few baby bits today. Came back to a police cordon around our building and the one opposite. Apparently a man had climbed out of his balcony and wanted to jump. We were standing there waiting when we heard him jump and land on the concrete. So horribly unsettling. Sat outside our building waiting now. I really hope the guy is alive. Sad

eastend just seen the knitting pictures- my laptop didn't load them before. Very cute!

nehagarg that sounds horrendous, I really hope he's ok. You must be feeling really shaken up.

Jellybaby definitely ring if you're not sure. I'd also second don't wait if you think the movements have changed- just give them a ring and they'll let you know whether you should get checked out.

Mine has been doing little wriggles all day while I've been feeling rubbish then through a busy afternoon painting. I've finally just sat down 15 mins ago and he gave my ribs a couple of hefty kicks then has been hiccuping the whole time, which randomly I can feel through my right bum cheek... now there's a strange sensation! Grin

iamdivergent When I had my 28 week appointment we talked a bit about my home birth, and she booked me in for a double slot for my 34 week appointment to go through everything properly then with my DH there as well.

nehagarg · 25/03/2016 20:55

Thanks Mollie .. I am shaken up a bit. The guy didnt make it. We are home now via another building down the road. The basements are linked. DH has put on a funny movie in an attempt to cheer me up.

How awful nehagarg. Hope you're ok x

laughingGnomette · 25/03/2016 22:03

Thanks so much everyone :)

spock - oh my goodness, that is shocking!! How scary that must have been.

nehagarg - that is so sad :(

Spock27 · 25/03/2016 22:56

Oh nehagarg I hope you're ok. I work for a mental health charity and we do intervention training but I've luckily never had to use it. If you need to talk to someone about it then please do, and if you'd like to speak to someone anonymously then try phoning Breathing Space, I've heard they're really good to speak to if you just need to let it out.

Tonight I found out that baby likes Batman vs Superman, kicking me all the way through. I wasn't that fussed about the film though!

nehagarg · 26/03/2016 07:48

Thanks everyone. Its quite distressing specially when you are about to have a baby. As horrible as it sounds, I think I feel worse about it because I literally heard the man jump and land.

Thabks for the recommendation Spock. If I am still dwelling on it in a day or two, I'll take your advice. Going to go to Oxford tonight to my parents and try and concentrate on my brother's upcoming wedding. Smile

Good tips about determining how your baby is positioned based on where you feel kicks.

I think mine has turned breech a few days ago. Going to ask midwife to be sure. Really hope he turns again. Still early days. I'll be 31 weeks on Monday

That's really interesting - I was in pretty bad rib pain all the way from 28 weeks where I had a head in my ribs that was easily palpable from the outside and did indeed bob independently if prodded. He was well and truly wedged from 28 weeks to the end.

This one is still moving freely but I'm sure from the kicks that she mostly head down, maybe transverse at times but hoping she'll settle head down.
