Here's the next thread!

Icecappedpinetrees · 09/05/2016 19:47

to all the uncooperative cervixes. What a nightmare to be all worked up for it then not get it Sad

ODog - I'm actually not going to my clubs this week as everyone had a massive 'goooooood luuuuuck' and 'can't wait to see the baby' speech last week and I can't bear to see them again...

At least it's sunny so DS and I can waddle around by the seaside in various places nearby eating ice creams

ODog · 09/05/2016 21:02

It is a bit exhausting repeating the same 'yes still here' with a forced smile! I took DS for a walk around the village earlier (they are doing some building work and he is obsessed with the diggers!) and managed to bump into about 5 other mum's I know and had to do the whole 'Yep still here' piece again so I don't think there's much escaping it.

Fingers crossed for twitchy cervixes (cervii???) overnight!

Pikz · 10/05/2016 02:29

My darling son arrived at 22.55 on the 9th may. 8lb9!

Will post full story tomorrow

ODog · 10/05/2016 07:19

Congrats pikz - looking forward to hearing the full birth story. Enjoy your newborn.

Any other news?

40+4 today.

Icecappedpinetrees · 10/05/2016 07:28

Pikz - wonderful news! Congratulations. Flowers Looking forward to more of your news.

My pelvis feels like shattered glass. That's my overnight news. The thing with this stage of pregnancy is that back pain and pelvic pain are expected so how do you know if you actually have a more significant problem? Like with a disc slipped or something? Either way, getting this baby out will undoubtedly help (hinder initially then help!)

Midwife just did a hmmmmm and head tilt when I spoke about struggling to walk with pain. Hmmmmm, she sympathised, have I tried a cold compress? Oh yes because I have plenty of time in my day with a toddler for compresses.

GunShotResidue · 10/05/2016 07:56

Congratulations pikz!

ODog I remember lots of 'yes, I'm still pregnant' with DD. Luckily I know nobody in the town we're in now, although I have been receiving some messages from family and friends already!

:( I hope your back feels better soon Ice!

29redshoes · 10/05/2016 09:05

Hello, sorry it's taken me a little while to come back and update!

So having completely convinced myself that I was definitely going to go overdue and have a really long labour, I went to bed still pregnant on Friday evening (3 days before due date) and by Saturday morning I had a baby!!

Waters went quite dramatically around midnight. Within minutes I was getting pains every 2-3 minutes but I told DH they couldn't possibly be contractions yet as this definitely wasn't how they'd described things in antenatal class Hmm. On the drive to the hospital they became extremely painful and we started to wonder whether maybe they were proper contractions after all. By 1am I was being examined and already needed gas and air - I was 4cm dilated!

Went to labour ward where contractions got very intense. Baby was back to back and I didn't really feel anything at all in my abdomen, it was all in my back which was unexpected. Used pool and gas and air and would DEFINITELY have got an epidural if my labour had gone on longer, but as it turned out that wasn't an option as by next exam I was 10cm. 40 mins later DD was born! Just under 8lbs. Not sure I'd describe it as a "good" experience but at least it was quick!

Unfortunately after that it got a little dramatic as delivery of the placenta didn't go well and I lost a lot of blood. Had to stay in hospital a couple of nights to recover but we're home now and doing well.

DD is absolutely gorgeous and am enjoying spending time with her. Finding breastfeeding tough but it seems to be a little easier each day. She had a huge crying session last night which went on forever and was so hard to deal with. Hopefully as time goes on we'll get better at recognising her cues and what she actually wants from us! DH has been just incredible and so supportive.

So that's me! Def up for a postnatal thread so we can share tips. Good luck to all of you still waiting, it won't be long now Smile.

And huge congrats pikz!!!

armyofthree · 10/05/2016 10:04

Congrats pikz hope it all went well. Looking forward to the full story.

29 well done for managing with just gas and air! Hope you are feeling better. With DS1 I lost lots of blood after the birth and had very little energy in the days and weeks that followed. I was then told to have iron tablets and that turned it around for me straight away. Hope that helps if find you don't have enough energy.

ParsnipSoup · 10/05/2016 10:38

Congratulations Pikz!

29 that sounds really fast, well done for managing with just gas and air! Glad breastfeeding is getting a bit easier.

Everythinggettingbigger · 10/05/2016 12:00

Wow lots of babies I wonder who will be next! Congratulations pikz and 29

I am loving hearing all the birth stories!

Getting so fed up of all the false starts! 38 weeks today! Had all the windows open with the hot weather the last few days and now my house seems to be over run by flies which is driving me insane!!! Blue bottles too......can't bare the smell of fly spray!

Nicky333 · 10/05/2016 12:41

I had an appointment at the hospital today to discuss induction. Baby is 3/5 engaged and my induction is booked for the 24th, the day after my due date.

I had 'the dream' last night where we lost her and didn't tell anyone, just carried on with my bump getting smaller and smaller Sad

If everyone moves to an antenatal thread, I'll watch but not post, don't want to tempt any fate.

frozensmoothie · 10/05/2016 13:19

Congratulations pikz
Great that you had a quick birth 29

9 days overdue now and still not much happening here although I think I'm slowly but surely loosing bits of my plug. Got my second attempt at a sweep tomorrow and will hopefully get a date for induction then too.

ODog · 10/05/2016 13:35

frozen I really feel for you. DS was 10days late and it was torture. I'm only 4 days late now but it doesn't seem as bad this time around. An induction date often gets things moving anecdotally. The fear of eviction makes them get a shove on!

Everythinggettingbigger · 10/05/2016 14:39

Oh Nicky that's a terrible dream, or more like a nightmare should I say!

Frozen not sure if I'm losing mine too or was just a slight effect of being poked while the midwife attempted a sweep yesterday! As ODog said, I left the hospital after having a sweep and being given a date for induction.....I went into labour on the way home that was 3 days over! Fingers crossed baby comes but it's only a matter of days either way! Good luck x

Everythinggettingbigger · 10/05/2016 16:02

Oh I feel like I'm going insane! Been having lots of pains for the past hour or so, stomach been off all day, feel quite nauseous but pains not exactly defined enough to say contractions, thought I would get in the bath and just see how things go because it was getting quite uncomfortable........it's all bloody stopped again now! Definitely felt different this time though, just didn't feel right but can't really explain it

Outnumb3red · 10/05/2016 16:44

Hi, I'm new to this thread. #3 is due 26th. I'm so over being pregnant now. So much more aches and pains this time round. Finished up work last Friday.

Everythinggettingbigger · 10/05/2016 18:59

Hi outnumb3red (clever name by the way!) Lots of babies already been born on this thread! Any twinges?

shalalala · 10/05/2016 19:09

Hi ladies. I'm 38+1 and have had a fair amount of discharge today and some of it is pale pinky/brown. Is this likely to be the start of something? X

GrouchyKiwi · 10/05/2016 19:30

shalalala That could be your plug going.

Congratulations Pikz!

Welcome Outnumb3red.

Baby is definitely moving lower, I can hardly walk now with the SPD pain. 38 weeks now so still potentially 4 weeks to go. Nothing happening otherwise and I'm definitely getting fed up with it all!

shalalala · 10/05/2016 19:46

Thanks kiwi - how long after this goes does it all tend to kick off? FTM incase you hadn't guessed..

GunShotResidue · 10/05/2016 19:54

Exciting shalalala! Could still be a week or so, or could happen at any time!

I have a bad ache in my lower left calf. I fell early in pregnancy and don't think the sprain properly healed, or it could be a trapped nerve, but I keep panicking about DVT. Have a consultant appointment in Thursday so will mention it then.

Grouchy fingers crossed things start earlier rather than later!

GrouchyKiwi · 10/05/2016 20:00

shalalala It could happen at any time - you could still go overdue (sorry to be a downer). Have you got a ball to bounce on? That can encourage things to get going (if you want them to). Otherwise, plenty of walking etc also helps. Good luck!

Gunshot Definitely best to bring it up. AFAIK, DVTs have a lot of swelling around them and would feel hot, so try not to worry about it.

OP posts:
Everythinggettingbigger · 10/05/2016 20:04

I lost my plug with my first at 28 weeks then again at 32 weeks and then pretty much every week until I had him sorry doesn't mean much Blush my midwife told me if labour doesn't start within 24 hours it just replenishes itself. Fingers crossed for you it does start something though!

ODog · 10/05/2016 20:27

Welcome outnumb3red.

Sounds like your plug shalala. It was a week before anything happened when I lost mine with DS. No sign of this one yet though and I'm 4 days over. Already prepared to be induced.

No idea about DVT gunshot but defo worth a mention.

Keep getting cramp in my groin today. I think the baby has wriggled down a bit more as I have done about a thousand wees, some very loud farts and lots of small, loose poos (sorry about tmi!).

shalalala · 10/05/2016 20:30

Ah thanks everyone. I keep getting little aches in my pelvis which are new today but I also think I'm just looking for any sign! They come and go but aren't particularly painful. I know they aren't Braxton Hicks
