ODog - have yersel a wee cup of tea. Brew Grin Wink

Pikz · 06/05/2016 15:07

Odog happy due date

Pearly what a great story

Can't how are you doing?

How is everyone else... Am on the app so now got proper brain blank

Back from hospital. Am 2cm, waters bulging and having some contractions. Had a massive sweep so she is hoping it will happen over weekend. Booked in for induction/csection 8.30 on Tuesday. Come on baby!

Pikz · 06/05/2016 15:07

Oooh grouchy exciting about the home birth :)

29redshoes · 06/05/2016 15:35

pikz that sounds promising, fingers crossed for you! Are you booked in for both induction and c section on Tuesday? How would they decide which one to go for on the day, if you don't mind me asking? Hopefully it's all academic and it won't come to that anyway!

pearly that's a lovely birth story, great that you had such a positive experience.

Thinking of you cant, hope things are progressing and you will have a baby v soon!

Ah odog that sounds like an interesting start to the day...! I'm just impressed you're wearing a dress, that sounds very pulled together to me. I've spent the last three days in the only pair of maternity leggings I have which still fit.

Good luck for your scan parsnip!

Been shopping with my mum today, hoping all the walking might kick start something. I suddenly feel VERY pregnant. Can't walk fast even if I try, lots of aches and pains, pressure...v ready for this baby to come now!

29redshoes · 06/05/2016 15:37

Oh and great news about homebirth grouchy! Sunday is very close now...

Everythinggettingbigger · 06/05/2016 16:03

Another one here feeling VERY pregnant today! Still sat in the election centre waiting on other districts to announce their results so we can go.....been here since 9pm last night it's safe to say I am destroyed!!

Lots of exciting things going on cant

Lots of BH and aches and pains here too!

Pikz · 06/05/2016 16:09

29 the only thing they can do next is manually break my waters. So if that doesn't work within a short space of time on Tuesday then it will be a section due to scar rupture risk. Crossing everything I can get him out before then.

Pikz · 06/05/2016 16:10

Oh my word everything! I don't know how you have done that!

ODog · 06/05/2016 17:23

That sounds promising pikz and congrats on the HB approval grouchy.

My day got even unluckier. Horrendous traffic, hard to park at the park, DS a bit er...emotional, then I got pooed on by a bird. Please don't let me go into labour today!

frozensmoothie · 06/05/2016 17:26

Lovely birth story pearly thanks for sharing.

Hope things are progressing well for you cant

Wow that is hardcore everything hope you manage to get some sleep soon!

Hope baby comes for you over the weekend pikz

I'm just back from my scan. Baby is head down but still not engaged. Estimated weight is 8 lbs 1 oz. Will be having a sweep on Monday and getting an induction booked for later that week providing nothing happens between now and then, which it doesn't feel like it will!

Everythinggettingbigger · 06/05/2016 17:38

ODog that does sound like a terrible day but a very good excuse to DH to look after DS while you have a bit of 'me' time!

Just got home now, going to get a bath and try and stay awake until 7ish then just go to bed and hopefully get a good night's sleep and make up for missing a full night! Don't actually feel as bad as I was expecting!

Frozen that's a good little weight!

GrouchyKiwi · 06/05/2016 18:01

Pikz Sounds promising! Hope it develops into something good. Will you be bouncing on a ball and walking loads this evening?

Everything I have no idea how you did that! Hardcore. I've just woken up from a nap after having a relatively decent sleep last night. Hope you get a relaxing evening and have the best sleep ever tonight!

ODog Hope you've got lots of chocolate etc in stock after that day!

frozen Good news from your scan.

Pikz · 06/05/2016 20:27

Grouchy on the ball as we speak :)

ParsnipSoup · 06/05/2016 23:16

Everything you are officially the most hardcore (or maybe insane?!) pregnant lady I know. I hope you are currently all tucked up in bed and getting some sleep.

Pikz good luck in evicting that baby.

I had my growth scan this evening. Everything looking good. Baby on 90th centile so big but where he was measuring previously. I even have the cutest scan picture of his lovely face. Feeling so huge today, had a lovely posh lunch with a friend and then gatecrashed my parents having curry for dinner. I'm betting that next time my tummy is measured it won't be static anymore!

I wonder if we haven't heard from Cant because she is having her baby?! I do hope so!

Icecappedpinetrees · 07/05/2016 07:22

Good new about scan parsnip. I bet with all the yummy food and positive scan that you are feeling much better.

Curry for us tonight too - still over 12 hours away and can't wait! Hoping to start labour, och, who am I kidding?! Hoping to gorge myself is the best I can hope for.

Any babies this morning??

Sun is shining, looks set to be a braw weekend. Have a lovely Saturday ladies - don't overdo it anyone, we need our strength for the coming days not weeks, I will NOT be weeks late

I can hear DH and Dtoddler preparing the pancake batter - what a perfect start to the morning.

Everythinggettingbigger · 07/05/2016 08:10

I think the word is crazy lol just woke up from a 13 hour sleep though (well not a full 13 hours......5 wees!! 5!) But feel human again! Let's see how I feel tonight after a party with 50 5 year olds.....

There has been a baby on the Facebook page but not sure who's username on MN it matches too.....I'm sure they will be a long this morning to announce their exciting news! And another on their way in labour!

Lovely about your scan Parsnip, last time seeing baby's face before they are in your arms! Exciting!

Very jealous about your pancakes Ice....DP is still snoring away but he did the count too and didn't come to bed until 10pm so will let him off and let him sleep lol

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 07/05/2016 09:35

She is here!!! Born at 2.40 this morning, 7lbs 3oz and a head full of dark hair just like her daddy (who, incidentally, is completely in love and won't put her down!! We are still deciding on a name as we were so convinced we were having a boy!
The birth ended up almost the complete opposite for what I had hoped for, but I think I'm ok with it as the outcome is the most important thing! So here is the (v long) story;

Because I thought my waters had gone 24 hours beforehand we started out at the assessment unit instead of going straight to the MLU (contractions didn't start in earnest until he evening so I thought I didn't need to call the hospital until it was 24 hours since the waters went - I was wrong!). It was really unpleasant, is basically antenatal A&E for all stages of pregnancy from 18 weeks and we were kept waiting for 2 hours in a bit busy waiting area full of badly behaved toddlers while my contractions ramped up to every 5 mins and I had to manage them in public. They had mixed up my notes with somebody else's at triage hence the delay in seeing us (urgh!!) and when I sobbed they saw me, said baby's heart trace was irregular and laid me flat on my back for an hour on continuous monitoring having flipped out about us not coming in sooner (oops!). After an hour flat on my back contracting (no pain relief) I was examined and I was 4cm dilated already but they told me because of the inconsistency in the heart trace I couldn't go to the midwife led unit and had to go to the consultant led instead, so no water birth Sad Plus the gas & air made me feel woozy and I hated it and gave it up after 3 contractions, so I had 2 paracetamol and then got moved to a delivery room on the unit. Decided after a few hours with no pain relief to go for an epidural which was against everything I had hoped for but hey ho....
The midwife was lovely and I was coping well with the pain but just couldn't imagine getting though another day of the contractions after already having one night of no sleep, so had the epidural at 5pm then found out I was 5cm dilated at the point I got it so am trying not to see it as a cop-out (which I KNOW it's not, I was just pretty adamant about what I wanted!)
I then ended up spending the majority of the time on the bed, again exactly the opposite to what I had planned, but I misunderstood the midwife and thought I needed to, plus it was really difficult to move around because of the bloody hideous continuous monitoring they insisted on me being on.
So instead of a lovely natural water birth on gas & air using lots of different positions and being very active I had an epidural, lay down most of the labour, had to have a catheter as I couldn't get a wee out, had ventouse and an epistemology and stitches and lost almost a litre of blood...so I had everything going!! And you know what? None of it matters one tiny bit because this girl is GORGEOUS!

Everythinggettingbigger · 07/05/2016 09:57

Congratulations cant just seen a photo she is really beautiful xx

ParsnipSoup · 07/05/2016 10:19

Congratulations Cant, it's a shame that things didn't go to plan but you're right, the most important thing is your beautiful little girl!

Everythinggettingbigger · 07/05/2016 11:56

Anyone else having real highs and lows? Woke up this morning full of beans even been for a walk.....just got to the park with DP and DS and had to wait in the car not even got every to get out and sit on a bench! Feel so guilty sitting here watching them through the car window!

Been like this all week.....burst of energy to complete lack of energy!

ODog · 07/05/2016 12:11

Congratulations cant. Sorry your birth didn't go to plan, make sure you recover well and talk it through if you need to (even if that's weeks/months down the line). And I agree about the continuous monitoring - it's hideous. I had it with DS (PROM and passed meconium) and was ripping those straps off at every given opportunity.

Hope everyone is having a nice Saturday. Took DS to his swimming lesson this morning. There is another mum who was due later this week who goes that I also know from a toddler group but her husband took her DS today as it turns out she had the baby on Monday. Grrrr....wait your turn.

40+1 today but actually not feeling too frustrated other than swimming mum beating me!

DH at cricket all day in a place with no signal so maybe that will invoke Sod's law....

GunShotResidue · 07/05/2016 13:25

Fingers crossed for you Pikz

That sounds crazy Everything! I hope you've had lots of rest since! I keep getting bursts of energy then crashing, it's not fun!

Congratulations cant! I hope you get lots of rest. I had a similar birth with DD, irregular trace so continuous monitoring, ending with an epidural (which was the only thing I was sure I didn't want!) forceps and a 2nd degree tear. It is so worth it in the end though.

I've had a bit more energy today and have been nesting. I'm sure I had some contractions whilst walking round lidl earlier, but nothing since.

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

GrouchyKiwi · 07/05/2016 16:41

Congratulations, cant. Smile

Good news about your scan, Parsnip.

Hope everything's going well, Pikz.

Had a migraine this morning so had to cancel my driving lesson. And now I am so very tired and extremely grumpy, and the children (and DH) are driving me batty. Have just sent the three of them outside to run around because I couldn't cope with the noise any more.

Also apparently going insane as I felt the need to chop grass around the edges of our garden with scissors.

Icecappedpinetrees · 07/05/2016 19:56

Today I enjoyed the soothing sounds of Reiki whale music poorly masking toddler screams, not as relaxing as I'd hoped it would be. Other highlights have included judgey comment from a shop assistant, crying while shouting at DH in front of toddler, being sick, not being able to hear because I'm so full of cold and congested and a toddler tantrum as in laws were on a lengthy chat on FaceTime. Don't you just love that even in your own house with your belly hanging out and no makeup that your in laws can still see you?!? I'm grumpy, tired and irrational.

cantbelieve - massive congratulations!! A lovely little girl!! Will you share her name once you've decided? I'm not on the FB page so missing the newborn pic but I bet she's gorgeous! What a nightmare birth, sounds similar to mine with DS, you just wonder how on earth it comes to a result like that. If you'd been seen and started properly who knows how it might have been? But then as you say, she's here now and she's all yours! Keep us updated Flowers

ODog · 07/05/2016 21:07

ice that sounds horrendous. People keep telling me that newborn+toddler is easier than pregnant+toddler so I'm clinging to that.

Had a very busy day taking DS swimming and then went to my mum's cousin's place this afternoon. They have a play park with a little soft play a fleet of cosy coupes and some chickens and rabbits aka toddler heaven . DH still not back from cricket so I'm enjoying some time on my own now DS is asleep.

Hoping there will be some more baby news this weekend.
