I have a wifi dongle but we don't subscribe to Netflix. My DH has been here for a lot of the day. He's gone home to get something to eat, have a shower and shut the chicken in, then he's coming back.

We do have sky anytime though, so I'll be able to watch something later.

I must be tired Nicky, first time I read that I thought your DH was going home to get something to eat and then shower the chicken. I was very confused! I hope you manage a restful night while in hospital... Hopefully they'll let you home soon.

GunShotResidue · 04/02/2016 19:55

Nicky, it's good that they're keeping an eye on you, but I hope everything is ok and you can go home soon.

DH is out at a works thing tonight so I'm going to go to bed as soon as DD goes to sleep, eating rubbish and watching stuff on the laptop.

That sucks nicky but glad they are keeping a close eye on things. I have only managed swimming with DS today and still feel exhasuted so hats off to you pearly

Thanks for adding me to the stats frozen and for the new thread grouchy that's great news about your osteopath appointment.

How did your bump measurement go parsnip?

Oh no daphne oops, just don't forget to book anymore Grin hope she wasn't too horrible about it

Love hearing about all your shopping sprees, sounds like a nice hoard pearly and what a bargain with the nappies gunshot!

Hope you're ok nicky and managing to get some sleep, how scary, I have my fingers crossed you'll be home asap

I hadn't really thought much of drinking more as something to flag with my midwife but I wake up every night so incredibly thirsty, like ive been on a crazy night out! Do you think I should tell my midwife or is this normal? Hope your results come back ok parsnip

Hi to everyone ive missed, I'm trying to read back on my phone half asleep - awake again before 4am and yet again can't get back to sleep, it's driving me insane!! Wake up and need a wee then can't get comfy as back hurts and groin pains grr :(

I think being thirsty in the night is pretty normal southy. I have woken up like I've had a good night out pretty much every night since I found out. Do raise it with your mw if you are worried though.

Not being able to sleep is horrible. Do you have a pregnancy pillow? My dream genii was a lifesaver last time. Doesn't seem to help this time though and a pillow between my legs is better. I think I'm carrying lower this time so maybe that's it.

frozensmoothie · 05/02/2016 08:33

I've been feeling more thirsty than normal too. I've got my gtt test this morning as it's standard for everyone as part of the 28 week bloods in my area. Im needle phobic so dp is coming with me to hold my hand!

Also been suffering from the 4am waking every night this week. By the time I finally get back to sleep my cat decides it's breakfast time and wakes me up again!!

Southy84 · 05/02/2016 09:41

Thank you both, it's probably just normal for me as it's just in the night but will mention it just in case at my next app.

I do have a pregnancy pillow but just struggle to stay in one position for too long because of the pain in my hip and back. I finally got back to sleep at about 6:30 I feel like a zombie! Sorry you're suffering too frozen :(

After waking me up early for breakfast, said cat then decided to knock over my lucozade that I needed for the gtt this morning! Had to dispatch poor DP to the shops for an emergency second bottle!

Hi everyone! I've been so rubbish at keeping up on here. Can I join the FB group please?
I am 24 weeks today - feels like a big milestone. Sleeping is also difficult here. If DD wakes up I then lie there for another hour trying to get back to sleep. SPD pain is kicking in so turning over is already really painful. The joys!

hotchoc send a personal message to bishbashbosh (she started the last May thread) with your FB name and a description of your profile picture. She'll add you as a friend and add you to the group.

I'm out now, got home at about 11am. I fell asleep finally and then the nurse came in at 1:15am to take my blood pressure. Sleep after that wasn't happening.

I have to carry my notes with me at all times now, even if 5 minutes from home and go in immediately if there's any more bleeding. And no more running for me Angry

Southy my bump was measuring in the upper bit of normal so nothing to worry about. DP is absolutely convinced we'll have a 5kg baby so hopefully he's waaaay off the mark.

Frozen hope the GTT went well. We have to drink some glucose powder mixed in water apparently. Lucozade sounds much nicer.

Nicky sad news about the running... You can now be a couch potato like me! Impressed myself by walking over 5 miles today. Getting puffed out if I walk too fast though.

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend. We went out for dinner with some friends on Friday night (only the 3rd time DH and I have had a night out together since DS was born!). 2 of our friends are due do give birth in the next fortnight so it was lovely chatting babies with them. Although one was saying how sleep deprived she was as it was hard to get comfy. I felt bad after as no-one really wants to hear it but I could help but remind her that this might be nothing compared to a couple of weeks time. She seemed a bit Shock when I told her DS's constant feeding habits as a newborn

Hey everyone!
odog I am so scared of the impending sleep deprivation. I can't cope without my sleep! Shock
Its such a lovely day today. We are heading out for a walk in a minute. Yesterday we went to ikea to look at nursery furniture. Saw a nice grey set, quite tempting! We won't have a nursery though really. He will be in our room which is really big as we want to keep our second bedroom spare for parents visiting as they don't live near. It's a bit tricky knowing what's best to do after he is about 6 months old.
I still haven't really bought anything. Think we will start making some of the bigger purchases soon.
Hope everyone else is having a nice weekend. Smile

nicky333 no-way, are you my twin? How is the bleeding now? I've been ok for 3 days but am petrified each time I go to the loo! Want to be able to enjoy my pregnancy again. Do they know what was causing yours?

Report
ODog · 07/02/2016 14:33

Welcome shalalala and sorry to hear about the bleeding. Hope this is the last you see of it.

daphne - I was an 8hrs a night person pre-DS and was amazed at how quickly you adapt to having very little sleep. You will be fine.

Re: nurseries. DS slept in our bed (not just our room) the whole time until 6/7mo and then most of the night until 13/14mo when we got rid of his cot and moved him to a toddler bed. He now spends most of the night or sometimes all night in his own room in his own bed and I have to say it is really nice to have our room/bed back.

It's also nice to have a room to keep all the baby crap. He was also a really noisy sleeper as a small baby and had he tolerated sleeping alone I may have considered moving him earlier.

Could you set up the spare room as a nursery and put a sofabed in there? That's what we have done with DS's room now that the new baby will take the spare room (which would have been too small for a sofa bed as well). That way when people stay DH can't take to wriggling/crying DS will sleep in with us and the sofa bed can be used in his room.

Hi all from India!! We had a rough night last night as DP has been a bit ill (typically Indian tummy) and was getting up all through the night, so neither of us slept, and I couldn't work out if I was worried about him or just intensely paranoid and anxious about getting sick myself and so ended up being selfish and not letting him drink my water in case it ran out/he was contagious. When I eventually did get to sleep I then had a dream that my dad died and woke myself up wailing in distress SadConfused then spent this morning crying as I was so upset for being so mean to him last night!!
Anyway after all that the test of today has been a quiet one, but this morning all I could think was that I wish I wasn't here and that I was at home instead! Feeling better tonight though so hoping for no more nighttime adventures...it's funny, I'm pretty sure that being on holiday at 27 weeks pregnant is more or less the same as being at home - some days I feel like crap, some I feel great, but at least it's sunny and I'm not at work! Hope everyone enjoys their Sunday Smile

shalalala, I must be your twin, yes!

I've had no bleeding since Thursday evening and they let me out on Friday morning. I keep checking whenever I go to the bathroom though, all worried.
With me, I have a low-lying placenta so they think it was probably that. How about you?

Cant sorry to hear that you had a rubbish night, I hope the holiday gets better (and your DH does too).

ODog I am so jealous. I have about 60 shifts left, 1/4 of which are nights. Really not feeling the night shift love anymore... I just wish we had more comfy chairs for the rare few minutes we get a sit down.

Welcome shalalala

cant sorry to hear you had a difficult night, hope the rest of the holiday goes well. When are you back home? I've been feeling more anxious and vulnerable recently and suddenly don't like being away from home for too long!

ODog I'm very jealous too! I've been doing all sorts of countdowns but have just under 8 weeks left at work, I think around 33 working days as I've still got some holiday to take and the Easter bank holidays.

I'm also scared of the impending sleep deprivation. I don't function very well with little sleep although surprised that I'm still managing with work at the moment despite the insomnia.

The GTT and the rest of the 28 week bloods went fine and I should get the results when I see the midwife next Monday. Also got my whopping cough vaccination on Wednesday and dentist appointments. Struggling to keep up with all these appointments at the moment!
