thread #2 - TTC#1 Grads, sick bags at the ready!

Runner05 · 27/01/2016 15:07

We've finally got our BFPs and have started on the long winding road of pregnancy.

Most of us are starting, within, or just leaving the first trimester where bloating, unexplained discharge and constant nausea are watchwords of the day!

We're battling NHS inconsistencies, trying not to kill our midwives and desperately looking for a magic morning sickness cure... It's TTC#1 grads!!!

Miley I imagine that is so she can ask whether he has ever been violent or abusive to you. It's on their list of things they have to ask and if your OH is there I assume they wouldn't ask in front of him.

I feel like I've gone back in time two weeks. I feel dreadful this evening. I haven't been sick but it's been a close thing and there's still time no idea why I feel like this again all of a sudden. Just want to cry Sad

Pink I missed the bath may when I stepped out of the bath after my shower so my foot slipped. Only damage is a bruise on my thigh where I caught my leg on my way dawn.

Mileymoocow · 21/02/2016 20:58

Ahhh right! That does make sense, I'm sure abused women aren't going to admit to it in front of their abuser.

I'm a bit nervous about the STD question now. I caught chlamydia off my cheating ex about 7 years ago (luckily went for a test as soon as I found out he'd cheated...7 times Angry ) and haven't felt the need to tell OH due to me being absolutely mortified.

Glad there's no lasting damage runner. Sounds painful nonetheless

LisaTheGreek · 21/02/2016 21:21

Thanks Pink, that's really helpful. Much appreciated x

Runner, sorry you're feeling bad again. I didn't really understand it earlier but now I get it, and it really sucks. x

Morwenna1 · 21/02/2016 22:11

Ouch Runner! Sorry to hear you're feeling rough again....here's hoping it disappears quickly!

I figured you are a sonographer or know one who'll give you lots of scans First! Smile Pink my scan pics were 3 for £10, so not bad really.

I didn't actually have my DH along to my booking in appt. He would have had to had time off work and seeing as it was mainly routine form filling I didn't think he'd find it that interesting! He'll be at the scans though of course. So why don't you explain you've looked into what happens Miley and there isn't really a need to have him there? That way you get around the whole STD issue. Another thing you could do is tell her there's no issues, and then ring her in private afterwards, or wait till the next appointment?

Or the alternative would be to speak to your OH about what happened. It wasn't your fault and as you got yourself checked out quickly, there is not and never has been an issue...I'm sure he'd understand that?

Co5mo I'm so glad I got myself jabbed then! Was getting royally pissed off with the lack of info and help (and the nurse's attitude). Anyone still debating whether to get it done should heed Co5mo's advice and get to a nurse asap. I think people are still off my DH's work because of it, so the season is dragging on this year.

And can I get everyone's thoughts on this please? Since going public, I've now been asked twice whether it was planned?!!! Am I missing something here? I'm 32 years of age, I know accidents happen, but I have successfully managed to use contraception for some time and is it me, or is this quite an insensitive Q to ask? What if we'd been trying for some time etc.?! Just wondered if anyone else had been asked this, and how did you respond?

Mileymoocow · 21/02/2016 22:18

mor he's pretty insistent on big there which is totally fine. I'll mention it to him before hand, it's not a big deal really, it's just embarrassing I suppose.

I HAAAAAATE that question. Even if it wasn't wtf does it have to do with them? Obviously you're happy about it for Christ sake. It's very insensitive and you have every right to be annoyed. I'm 26 and just know I'm going to get asked countless times. I'm guessing the people that asked you aren't close to you?

Runner05 · 22/02/2016 07:01

Gah! First day back at work want to go back to sleep!

How is everyone else doing this morning?

I haven't been asked if it was planned yet. I guess it's just something people ask for something to say but That won't stop me being sarcastic if anyone asks lol

Nev yes! And omg the dreams that go with it Blush
Runner glad you fell properly but eel how exciting if you felt potato! I though I felt a prodding the other day but haven't felt anything since. Apparently it should feel like bubbles popping to begin with hmm. Sorry to hear you're feeling a bit rubbish again. I hope it passes quickly.

Pinklily1 · 22/02/2016 07:43

Good luck today Runner!

I have been sick again this morning Confused I'm wondering if it's partly nerves about the scan tomorrow. I've been excited about it up until this weekend but now feeling a bit scared.

shelbTa · 22/02/2016 08:28

Morning ladies,

Good luck today runner!

Ah pink you'll love tomorrow.

How you doing bunch?

I've got a stinkin cold. And I'm just not sleeping - as in I feel wired all the time. Anyone else feel like that? I thought I was meant to be sleeping all the time!

X

IrregularCommentary · 22/02/2016 09:07

Is anyone else having sore boobs at night issues? I'm pretty much ok during the day but rolling over from my back to my side during the night can wake me up with the pain.

I don't know if it's just because I have big boobs anyway (34ff pre preg) but if anyone has come across a solution then I'm all ears!

IndiX · 22/02/2016 09:32

Good luck runner!
Yes irregular I have 34f boobs pre PG and mine have been sore since bfp basically, I know what you mean at night though I sometimes feel like I've trapped one if I roll on to my side. I bought some soft jersey sports bras from asda, no underwiring and feels a bit more supportive at night.

BunchOfBobs · 22/02/2016 09:44

Hi Shelb, I'm good thanks. Filled with energy and can't sit still or coming up with jobs for DH to do in the house. I'm painting the nursery this week. I think my nesting urge has kicked in early as have been trying to get everything sorted in the house before baby arrives (it's a way off yet)! My argument being is rather do it now when I have the time and inclination rather than when I'm resembling a whale! How are you?

Irregular is it worth trying a sleep bra at night?

Pink nerves are normal, I was excited then got nervous in the days leading up to it. I'm more than certain it will happen for my next scan too. 4 weeks today!

Mor when is your midwife appointment? Mine is Thursday, I have no clue what to ask either.

Runner05 · 22/02/2016 10:14

Bunch I felt a bubble popping sensation last week and thought it was the baby but the other day definitely felt like a proper head but lol. Considering how jumpy Potato was in the scan I'm not surprised to feel the odd sensation now and then.

Pink I was really nervous before my scan too. I think it's normal to be but everything was fine and once you're in there it's great! I suggest you ignore the advice to drink lots and just drink normally though as they really press hard and wiggle.

Shelb sorry to hear about your cold. Hope you feel better soon.

Feeling better today. Exhausted already and low level nausea but that's all. Everyone at work is being lovely.

Think I might buy a Doppler tonight. Really want to be able to check on my little Potato.

IrregularCommentary · 22/02/2016 10:21

Thanks bunch and indi - I'll check out a soft bra.

Runner05 · 22/02/2016 11:11

Hello ladies, I'm sure one of you said you'd bought a Doppler you were really happy with the other day. Can't remember who it was though Confused can you let me know which one it was as there's so many on Amazon to choose from!

OP posts:
BunchOfBobs · 22/02/2016 13:16

That was me Runner I've got this one www.amazon.co.uk/ANAPULSE-Professional-Doppler-Monitor-Ultrasound/dp/B00JVPFT6U and get on great with it. Again watch you tube videos to make sure you know what sounds to pick out I.e placenta vs baby heart beat. And do not panic if you can't find a heart beat with it. Additionally don't use it for reassurance in later pregnancy.

I want to check on Pip today but DH is very protective and wants to be there for every listen in bless, so I'd feel guilty doing it without him.

I hope your first day back is going well.

LisaTheGreek · 22/02/2016 13:22

Guys, if I went for an early scan, would it be internal or an ultrasound?

And if internal, has anyone had one of those? Can anyone comment on what it's like? I'm feeling quite anxious recently and think I will go for one, but a bit uncomfortable at the thought of it being internal.

Thank you x

BunchOfBobs · 22/02/2016 13:36

How far along are you Lisa? You can't get a scan earlier than 6 weeks and from 7 weeks ish they should be fine with trans abdominal. I got one at 7+4 and was fine. Someone on here did have a dildocam job but I have forgotten who unfortunately.

LisaTheGreek · 22/02/2016 13:40

Thanks Bunch. I'm 8 weeks on Wednesday.

My scan is booked in for 13 weeks (end of March), so was thinking about getting one done in the next couple of weeks.

Just the word 'dildocam' freaks me out right now! Feeling very nauseous and squeamish Grin

BunchOfBobs · 22/02/2016 13:45

No chance of Dildocam for you then Lisa. You'll be fine at your dates. I found my early scan very reassuring, I had scared myself with too much reading. Worth doing if your happy to spend the money in my mind.

LisaTheGreek · 22/02/2016 13:46

Great, thanks Bunch! Appreciate your feedback

Runner05 · 22/02/2016 15:03

Thanks for the link Bunch I think I will need to treat myself.

Ok, cannot wait to get home now. I'm shattered, my back hurts and I feel like I've done about 3 hours in the gym.
My only task today was to clear down my mailbox which I've done. I've also updated my calendar and read and reread the maternity policy, sent my boss some questions and plotted out maternity leave and possible holiday in my calendar. I've even worked out that if I save my holiday I can leave mid July (woohoo!)
So in short, I'm a little bored Hmm

Nevlet · 22/02/2016 15:36

Lisa i had dildocam at 8+4 but only because I have a retroverted uterus and they couldnt see enough abdominally. By 11 weeks it had popped out and was fine for abdominal. Dildocam was absolutely fine only a tad uncomfortable when she was looking for my ovaries.

BunchOfBobs · 22/02/2016 15:39

Eek I definitely think I'm feeling Pip move. Just did the cold drink test. Had a lie down and concentrated. Felt popping sensations where I can feel my uterus and when I feel wind it's higher up. Beaming right now. Same place I felt it the other night too so don't think I imagined that either. Anyone else feeling anything other than Runner and I?

LaraG13 · 22/02/2016 16:03

Hi everyone. Been testing like mad and lines are getting darker each day so still preggo 😬

bunch and runner how wonderful that you are starting to feel your little ones move! I can't wait for that.

Interested to hear you're planning an early reassurance scan lisa. They do them near me from 7 weeks onwards for 50 quid so I'm definitely planning on one. It's ok for first who can scan herself!!

Well done on your first day back runner. Hope all those who are sick have a had an OK day of it.
