thread #2 - TTC#1 Grads, sick bags at the ready!

Runner05 · 27/01/2016 15:07

We've finally got our BFPs and have started on the long winding road of pregnancy.

Most of us are starting, within, or just leaving the first trimester where bloating, unexplained discharge and constant nausea are watchwords of the day!

We're battling NHS inconsistencies, trying not to kill our midwives and desperately looking for a magic morning sickness cure... It's TTC#1 grads!!!

Lauren, 4+4, sore boobs and metal taste, currently have a UTI which is causing far more symptoms that our little baby! Booked in for early scan at 7 weeks at the EPU following a tiny amount of brown spotting on Monday, nothing like that since and fingers crossed not again!!! Confused

Hope you've all had a good day! I really can't wait for the weekend, don't know about you lot!

leoniethelioness · 27/01/2016 22:36

Miley YAY!!

Bellini Welcome!!

Mileymoocow · 28/01/2016 06:20

Hi pink and leonie!!! Great to be here. It's so lovely seeing names I recognise

When did you guys call your doc when you found out? I'm also going to have to tell my boss pretty much straight away which i really don't want to do (but I work with dangerous chemicals and drug products)

leoniethelioness · 28/01/2016 06:42

I found out on Wednesday and called in at the surgery on Friday to complete the booking form. They want to check you're taking folic acid so no harm in going early and it means they know you're pregnant if anything happens.

leoniethelioness · 28/01/2016 06:42

*Booking referral form

Chocaholic88 · 28/01/2016 06:47

miley here you don't to to the GP and you book in with the midwife over the phone, then they send you a booking appointment nearer the 10 week point. However this is baby #3 for me so that's maybe why! I have my booking appointment at 3pm today eeeeeeeeek... fingers crossed the midwife is a nice one!

Nevlet · 28/01/2016 07:12

New thread! Nice to see new faces miley bellini and choc sorry if ive missed anyone!

Stats nevlet 8+3 dc1 age 25.... Fairly ok symptom wise sore boobs sicky feeling and tiredness but nothing too bad. However on first wimpy sick day off work as woke up with blinding headache moving makes me swoon in dizziness and feel like i am about to hurl. Not practical (or possible!) to spend a day in the classroom.

How are we all?

Runner05 · 28/01/2016 07:27

Morning ladies and new BFPs Grin

Miley, Bell each dr surgery has their own procedure so you'll need to phone yours up and let them guide you. Most don't require you to see a dr and will just book you into a midwife appointment at about 8weeks but some will want you to pop in and see a dr first.
Try to enjoy these first few weeks, eat all your favourite foods, do all your favourite things as at about 6 weeks you seem to have a 50/50 chance of getting crippling morning sickness. Confused

Pink really good news about your consultant appointment Smile

Mor sorry about the thrush but at least it isn't a UTI. Smile

Well, I feel about par for the course. Still sick and feeling that I'll probably need to get my sick not extended again next week Sad good thing my employer is understanding!
On the bright side, they've found my mother a really nice care home which with any luck she'll be moving into next week which is really good news. Grin

Despite all the morning sickness I don't feel pregnant at all at the moment. Boobs are refusing to grow one little bit and just feel fat Hmm

On my way to my booking in appointment.

Was sick this morning for the first time. And so it begins...

Mileymoocow · 28/01/2016 09:51

Thank you ladies. I genuinely am so grateful for net mums, I don't know how people used to come without the Internet!

I didn't expect to fall pregnant this quickly. I still feel as though the bfp's were a fluke and I had a dodgy batch and that af is going to show any minute.

Not looking forward to morning sickness. When did that kick in for you?

Mileymoocow · 28/01/2016 09:51

Cope* not come...

Runner05 · 28/01/2016 10:00

Most of us hit morning sickness between 6 & 7 weeks but not everyone has been bad. Pink and I have been signed off the past few weeks but some of the others have barely felt queezy.

Welcome Miley & Bellini! Congratulations on your BFP's!
I can see this thread getting busier that #ttc1 soon 😊

Pinklily1 · 28/01/2016 11:41

Miley, morning sickness kicked in for me at about 5.5 weeks. I won't lie, it's been hideous, but as Runner says, it doesn't affect everyone to the same degree. I've wks suffered a lot of dizziness due to a lack of food and water, but I'm trying to get on top of that.

Mileymoocow · 28/01/2016 12:26

Hi lana! I hope it does, so many ladies on there deserve their bfp's soon.

Aww no! Morning sickness sounds the absolute pits. I'm looking to you girls to find a cure before it hits me.

My doc has suggested a blood test to confirm... anyone else had to have one?

Runner05 · 28/01/2016 12:36

Miley my dr and midwife just took my word for it that I was pregnant. Maybe it's just your surgery's process.

Mileymoocow · 28/01/2016 17:30

I have a group session with the midwife on Monday morning and my 1st 1 to 1 on 1st March.

Is the 8 week one a scan?

Chocaholic88 · 28/01/2016 18:09

Hi everyone! How are we feeling today?

Just back from my booking appointment- midwife is absolutely lovely! Given me a provisional due date of 17th Sept but told me to prepare to be further along than we thought when I have a scan in 2-3 weeks :)

Runner05 · 28/01/2016 19:50

Miley 8 weeks is usually your booking in appointment when they officially pull together your notes. Your first scan will usually be at 12 weeks. Smile

Feeling rubbish again today. My life has been reduced to sleep, wake up feeling sick, eat to tackle the sickness, try to get to sleep before I feel sick again. So bored of this shit. Seriously, why is it that books etc. don't prepare you for the fact that you may become some sort of hermit for 6 weeks of your life?

Pinklily1 · 28/01/2016 19:56

Runner, I could have written your post. When people have told me in the past they have had morning sickness, I've had no concept of what it is actually like and they haven't said it makes you feel so crap you want to cry.

There are days where I just don't want to get out of bed in the morning as I know I'll just spend the day feeling rubbish. I'm just holding onto the hope that it will pass in a few weeks.

Mileymoocow · 28/01/2016 20:23

Oh no! Don't pop my little bubble of pregnancy elation. I'm dreading morning sickness... I really hope it passes you soon.

Just done an frer in front of DP as he didn't believe the ic tests last night and now he's absolutely hitting the roof and also shed a couple of tears so now it seems real.

Runner05 · 28/01/2016 21:06

Aww miley that's so sweet Smile

Don't worry about the morning sickness, you may not get it, but if you do just remember to keep a stock of ice lollies, eat whatever you can (even if that's only jelly beans and cornflakes), and try not to punch everyone who asks if you've tried ginger biscuits.

Pink I'm really just about at the end of my tether but I'm 9+6 tomorrow. Please God that only means I have 2 more weeks before the hallowed second trimester! If the sickness doesn't end then I really will have a proper tantrum!

Awww love it miley !!

How is everyone tonight?!

We've just been invited to a lovely posh awards (thanks to work) ceremony in London near St Pauls Cathedral next month so now I'm rushing around picking dresses... got to love a bit of distraction!!

IrregularCommentary · 28/01/2016 22:16

Hey all, just checking in here and there's already loads of friendly faces Smile

Only got my BFP today so not sure how far along I am. 3+3 if you take it from first day of my last period. I think that's what you do?!

Not really feeling real yet, though telling dh tonight was pretty ace.

Morning sickness sounds horrendous, I'll put myself down to skip that part I think...!

Frantically Googling what the hell I'm supposed to do now. Ring the doc I guess, maybe that will make it more real.
