thread #2 - TTC#1 Grads, sick bags at the ready!

We've finally got our BFPs and have started on the long winding road of pregnancy.

Most of us are starting, within, or just leaving the first trimester where bloating, unexplained discharge and constant nausea are watchwords of the day!

We're battling NHS inconsistencies, trying not to kill our midwives and desperately looking for a magic morning sickness cure... It's TTC#1 grads!!!

Morning ladies

Shelb, glad everything went well. A week further ahead is good too! Was it amazing seeing baby for the first time? Ours is on Tuesday and I can't wait.

Yvonne, I have had the weeing and weird dreams since about 4 weeks. Last night in my dream I was fighting in a war, but we managed to negotiate peace by doing a dance off. I'm neither violent nor a dancer so I've no idea where that dream came from Smile

Has everyone around the 12 week mark started wearing maternity clothes? I haven't yet, thankfully my work stuff all fits fine, but I'm going to have to officially ditch my normal skinny jeans now I think.

IndiX · 20/02/2016 10:03

Oh shelb glad the scan went well, I'm sure it was amazing seeing your little baby!
Miley I feel for you, I have really bad nausea and even thinking of certain foods that I used to love and eat everyday is making me want to throw up! I can't imagine what you're feeling like, maybe a trip to the Dr's would be best if you aren't keeping anything down.
Hope the rest of you ladies are doing ok and have a lovely relaxed weekend X

Newmrs22 · 20/02/2016 10:24

shelb 1.6 seems v low risk. Ours was 1.1 and they specifically said that was v low risk.

Hope you all have a good weekend ladies.

Mileymoocow · 20/02/2016 10:34

I've managed 2 glasses of water and toast this morning and am feeling a little better! Thank you for all your sympathies Flowers

I had a bit of a breakdown last night and had a few tears to OH at the thought of being like this for another 5 weeks, maybe more. But I shook myself, managed to get a grip and told myself it was absolutely worth it.

Pinklily1 · 20/02/2016 11:12

Miley - i had the same when I was feeling at my worst. I just couldn't see how I would get through the next few weeks. But I did, and you will too. I won't lie and say I feel fine now, I still feel like crap, but a vast vast improvement on the earlier days. Just take each day as it comes, and don't put too much pressure on yourself to try and do things. I literally lay on the sofa for 3 weeks!

Mileymoocow · 20/02/2016 11:34

Yeah I feel like a total slob. I'm getting up, dressed, taking the dog out, quick shower because I can't bare to be too hot right now and back into pyjamas. I'm going to Dubai in march when I'll be 10 weeks and am hoping so much I'm not too ill for it.

It is a comfort to know others have been through it, too. Not that I'm happy you have, just that at least someone understands that you don't just feel a little icky!

Yvonne1986 · 20/02/2016 12:26

Sorry to hear your having such a rough time Miley hope some fresh air walking the dog makes you feel better xxx

Runner05 · 20/02/2016 14:47

Hi Shelb my measurement was just below yours... Think it was 1.4mm and the person scanning said that was right at the low end so very good, I think she said the upper limit of what's considered normal is 3.5mm. Fingers crossed Smile

Pink I've been in maternity clothes for ages!

Miley completely understandable to have a mini meltdown. I had two, one a few days after it started when I just sat on the bathroom floor and sobbed and one at about 10 weeks when it was at its worse and I had no energy left. You will get through it though!

Afternoon!
Trying to catch up... Sorry you are feeling so roopey miley BrewThanksChocolate

Welcome to newbies really hope you stay in the lucky club of me bunch and mor who have made it to 12 without sickness!

Thats good news on your scan shelb I have my nhs one on Thursday and am getting nervous despite all looking good at the private one last saturday! I doubt I will get moved forward anymore as moved 5 forward last time!

Hope someone somewhere in the uk is having decent weather for their weekend ours is awful!

Morwenna1 · 20/02/2016 17:00

Shelb My nuchal fold was 1.3mm, and to echo others, 3.5mm is when they class it as high risk. So that's good news that you're 1.6 Smile Don't forget to just ring them after a week to get your results, otherwise they'll make you wait for 2 weeks for a letter through the door.

Hello Lara! This is a good place to come to ask questions! I've found being on here really useful to talk through everyone's experiences. Fx for you the 1st tri goes as smoothly as possible! Miley hope you're feeling better soon.

Co5mo I wish you'd been posting back a few threads ago (don't think you'd joined us then?) when I was having a nightmare getting definitive advice on the flu jab. I was told the official guidelines had changed by my nurse when they hadn't (was trying to get the jab at 5 weeks), so I was told wait till 12 weeks, then two midwives said wait till 20 weeks! In the end I went to Tesco and got a free jab there as my DH's colleague went down with it and I couldn't get an emergency appt. How long does the season go on for? Lauren I would look into getting it; you're 8 weeks so shouldn't get the opposition I did. Better safe than sorry I say!

firstgo1984 · 20/02/2016 17:15

Tentatively joining with my 13dpo bfp this morning. So think i am 3+6. Like a few of you think i will need to do a couple to be sure. Parents in law here this weekend so will have to wait!

shelbTa · 20/02/2016 17:33

Thanks ladies.

Welcome first!

Pink - the scan is incredible honestly, you'll love it. I love the little one already! Sonographer was a misery but hey ho, can't win em all! How you feeling?

Runner how you feeling?

Hi bunch!

Hi everyone!

X

firstgo1984 · 20/02/2016 17:39

I will be scanning myself as soon as there is something to see!

Yvonne1986 · 20/02/2016 17:41

Amazing news First so glad to see you on this thread now hopefully lots more will follow too! How are you feeling? Any symptoms? Still doesn't feel real for me I POAS again this morning to check! Xx

firstgo1984 · 20/02/2016 17:50

yvonne no symptoms (other than lack of pre-af symptoms). I only tested after getting a positive opk.
After seeing what happened to you i told myself i would allow an opk and a preg test if that was positive and it was!

Now stressing about my breast biopsy results which i will have about a week to wait for!

Morwenna1 · 20/02/2016 18:02

Hi First! POAS is fine till about 6-8 weeks when your hormome levels go up and can (weirdly) actually result in fainter positive lines and even negatives! I got a faint line and decided then to stop before I drove myself mad with worry. (Called the Hook effect if you want to google it).

Morwenna1 · 20/02/2016 18:11

Pink Loving the dreams lol Grin Good luck for your scan, it's so exciting! I didn't drink an hour beforehand, I just sipped water before and on the way there. That seemed fine. You can always 'top up' but if you get there and run to the loo in desperation then you've got to start all over again!

I can still fit into my normal clothes for the time being, but my jeans are getting snug..I've bought some more in the next size up, so I'll start wearing those soon. And the maternity swimsuit I bought actually isn't baggy on me at all! My DH said I look 'very pregnant' in it!

16 week antenatal coming up this week....just trying to get together more questions to ask! Anyone got any suggestions that I haven't thought of yet?!

Yvonne1986 · 20/02/2016 19:14

What a horrible wait First fx it all comes back ok at least you have something to take your mind off it! Ru telling anyone?

Pink I'm glad it's not just me with the crazy dreams it's insane the effect pregnancy has on your body!

Morwenna that's good to know about the negative tests after six weeks as I'm sure I would have POAS and had a major panic xx

Mileymoocow · 20/02/2016 19:15

Hi first! Glad to see you here.

I've had a bit of a better day today guys. Been popping flapjacks which seem to do the trick. I figure they're high calorie and high sugar so will help with the dizzyness/losing weight..

Having an early night watching Saturday night takeaway in bed and feeling so much better than I have done.

Yvonne1986 · 20/02/2016 19:40

That's great to hear Miley fx your over the worse xxx

firstgo1984 · 20/02/2016 20:24

yvonne told a school friend who is about 7 weeks herself. She told me at about 5 weeks

LillianFullStop · 20/02/2016 21:43

nice to see you here first!!

Glad you found something you can stomach miley

Good luck with scan pink!

LaraG13 · 20/02/2016 23:02

Thanks for all the welcomes!

Glad you're a bit better today miley

Yay first! Great that you, yvonne and I are all in this together! I'm peeing on ICs like mad to try and see if they're getting darker (or lighter). Don't believe it's real at all!

Great that some of you are getting your scans. I have heard (but don't know for sure) that they don't do a 12 week scan in my area, only a 20 week. Can that be true? Seems an age to wait

firstgo1984 · 21/02/2016 07:32

lara you yave to have a scan around 10-13 weeks to date the pregnancy
You will also get offered downs screening.

LillianFullStop · 21/02/2016 07:33

Hi lara I think a 12 week and a 20 week is normal with NHS - 20 weeks does seem too late!
