Evening all

Wow, onto thread 2 already!

Genome - we are scan buddies, mine is 17th feb as well. Am desperate for an early scan but DH says no.

To those suffering with nausea, I have been using travel sickness bands since Saturday and they do seem to have taken the edge off the nausea. Worth a try for £8 or so! Although beware that they might make you paranoid about lack of symptoms if they work too well!

Still feeling exhausted, boobs are enormous and I'm a bit grumpy and weepy as well. Have gone off chocolate, but getting through a packet of fruitella a day Blush Have completely gone off fish. Even the word makes me feel sick. This happened with DS, I also went off cheese as well with him!

Hope everyone has a good evening and a decent night's sleep!

JayBeanie · 26/01/2016 21:12

Is anyone else having weird dreams? I don't usually remember anything but I've been waking up with clear memories of freaky dreams, I promptly forget the detail but still remember how I felt waking up.

celeste83 · 26/01/2016 21:14

Not scary dreams just surreal dreams.

Newtothevillage · 26/01/2016 21:21

Yes yes with the dreams! Every night. Not necessarily scary or surreal just really vivid.
I am still very light on the symptoms, no sickness at all. Beginning to worry that I should book a private scan. I have booking in on Friday- will the midwife be able to confirm anything for me does anyone know?

totatola · 26/01/2016 21:24

Updating stats with celeste83 and myself. Doing it on my phone so font etc is a bit wrong!

celeste83 · 26/01/2016 21:26

All in date order aswell. Very ocd tota Smile

celeste83 · 26/01/2016 21:27

They should be able to confirm you're pregnant on friday hun.

Sharesinpampers · 26/01/2016 21:28

Thanks globe, I know very little about it but was going by this page which suggests at least one strain of swine flu is covered in the vaccination. I'll definitely ask when I'm in tomorrow though as I imagine there are multiple strains. Needed to get it anyway, this gave me the kick up the backside!

www.nhs.uk/conditions/pandemic-flu/Pages/Introduction.aspx

Mrsmumb · 26/01/2016 21:32

guesshowmuch grim - i had to run out and vomit last pg when a boy arrived after P.E and sprayed himself in my room Sad
kitkat antibiotics have done the same to me ive whacked canestan cream on, pharmacists never advise pregnant women ime but i read up and the cream is finem between that and this bloody lump i'm a mess!
Atleast the antibiotics got rid of the sinusitis and conjunctivitus haha.

globetrotter2016 · 26/01/2016 21:53

shares had a look at the website- thanks. Seems to be a case of swine flu reloaded (e.g. mutated into different strain) and this new version is covered by this season's jab... so that should cover you for flu flu and swine flu but just double check with GP/nurse

totatola · 26/01/2016 22:02

Yes indeedy celeste! Date order makes me happy Smile

Time is going by very slowly! Still waiting to receive my booking in appointment and scan date. Might arrange a private scan for around 8 weeks as I'm too impatient!

No major symptoms other than fatigue and the odd bout of dizziness and low-level nausea. Wouldn't believe I was pregnant if it wasn't for the fact that I'm barely able to move for the rest of the evening once I'm home from work! Yes to vivid dreams here too!

Oxlady · 26/01/2016 23:19

I had my booking appointment today and will be having a male midwife! Anybody else ever had a male midwife? He was lovely, I think it will actually be a good thing for my husband to have another male around if we have a home birth again!

icklekid · 27/01/2016 02:42

Hi ladies just wanted to check in as still reading but struggling with Hyperemesis and ended up in hospital on mon. Sorry go hear of swine flu and the like going round really not pleasant.

Lilliana · 27/01/2016 06:25

Random phone call woke me up at 5:30 and now I'm wide awake with no hope of going back to sleep Sad

Jem have you tried travel sickness bands? They took the edge off the sickness for me last time.

Frater I'm due 22nd too although as I was induced and 42 weeks before DD came I'm not holding out hope I'll be having a baby then!! Totally forgot about the leap year but all the online things give me the 22nd - do they take it into account? my date was adjusted at the scan last time so I guess it might change anyway.

Great news on the scan Globe glad it has reassured you.

Hi celeste congratulations! and another from the SW!!

ickle that sounds awful. Hope you're ok and it doesn't last Flowers

TheVeryHungryMummapillar · 27/01/2016 06:40

celeste is Devon too! Where abouts are you? How lovely to have such a strong south western contingent!

wineandcheeseplease · 27/01/2016 08:05

Icklekid - hope you're doing okay

bananamonkey · 27/01/2016 08:47

ickle that sounds horrific, hope you are OK.

Y Y to the vivid dreams every night, last night I dreamt a woman from work kidnapped me and took over my life - it was so real!

Found out last night that one of my good friends had MC, I didn't know she was pregnant, how awful. I need to send her a message but not sure what I can say Sad

Lilliana · 27/01/2016 09:24

Banana You don't have to say anything - nothing will make it better but she will appreciate that you're there for her. I would just say you're so sorry to hear her sad news, are thinking of her and partner/husband and are always there if there is anything she needs. Flowers for your friend

nailsathome · 27/01/2016 10:11

Ickle sorry you're suffering.

Banana I agree just say sorry to hear and tell her you're there for her. Is she a close friend? Be aware that your pregnancy will be painful for her to watch even though she'll put a brave face on it.

wornoutboots · 27/01/2016 10:21

kit kat, the canesten pessary is safe in pregnancy. it doesn't tell you that on the packaging but it's what was prescribed for me in my first pregnancy so it's fine. but don't use the applicator, pop it up by hand. the external creams are fine too. just not the oral tablet!

FrazzleRock · 27/01/2016 10:33

Oh Kitkat that really does suck. And I gather it is a preg symptom too, regardless if you've had it before. Poor you Flowers Don't worry about the folic acid, it's one day. Don't stress Smile

Jen1122 anything dry like cream crackers? Works for me. I find the sickness is usually that low blood sugar wooziness feeling you get when you're hungry and eating something dry helps a lot. Don't worry too much right now about how much you're eating, as long as you're eating the right things and not surviving off chocolate and shit!

0hCrepe I am adoring crisps right now, but also have a need for oranges. Re tuna, I had some tuna pate on crackers last night... Just tuna and mayo, right? And small quantites of tuna is alright isn't it?

SockQueen yes I'm still waking at least once a night to wee. First couple of weeks I struggled to go back to sleep but this week I seem to be back out like a light as soon as I crawl back into bed.

globetrotter2016 Yes I'm struggling with this thread too, in the 7/8 years I've been on MN, I've never been in such a huge thread. They all used to be rather small! But it's so worth it, I've made so many lovely friends over the years.

Oh icklekid that's horrid. I hope it improves for you.

So what's new with everyone today?
I told my team yesterday in the strictest confidentiality (I will beat the shit out of them if they tell) and they're all super excited for us Grin

My tube journey in this morning was quite a challenge. Felt quite nauseous but it turned out I was just hungry!

bananamonkey · 27/01/2016 10:38

Thanks both, I don't know if I'm meant to know yet (her DH told my DH, we're all friends) but they're usually really open about these things, I just haven't seen them recently because they've had other stuff going on. Have sent a message about the other stuff so will go from there. DH is having a longer chat with her DH today.

I know it will be painful, especially as she has been dying for us to have a baby for ages. It's been a torrid time in my wider friendship group recently, no one know we were TTC and I found it hard to deal with a few pregnancies as it wasn't happening for us for a long time (literally 7 people in the space of a month told me they were pregnant, I had no idea I'd find that so difficult to deal with!). One couple has had 2 MCs and another is just starting IVF - it's a minefield Sad

Sorry didn't mean to bring the thread down.

zeeka · 27/01/2016 10:57

icklekid sorry to hear you're so ill. I hope you have some breaks from the sickness and it goes away soon xx

Jen1122 · 27/01/2016 12:18

frazzle thanks I'll give anything a try will also try the travel bands too. Smile

Sickness came for the first time today after the last week or so of nausea. Surprising how much better I felt about 5 mins after it and until I got on the train to commute Envy.
