I mean 40 in few months time.... I know I am OLD lol xx

globetrotter2016 · 27/01/2016 19:28

ickle and cupcakes hope you are both feeling better soon
frazzle ex sounds like someone one would want to strangle but try not to get too upset or worked up- nothing good will come from that either... take the zen approach! I bought one of those belly tube things too online but not delivered yet- when I have it and know which way is up I will let you know!
bailey - I am officially a beached whale- was offered a seat on the tube today!!!!! I am not wearing a baby on board thingy! I was in equal parts mortified and relieved... it's definitely all bloat for me... anyone has any tricks who to keep that under control? peppermint tea doesn't seem to work for me and I am really mortified that I look pregnant enough to be offered a seat already Shock

globetrotter2016 · 27/01/2016 19:29

bubu welcome and huge huge congrats!

celeste83 · 27/01/2016 19:54

mummapillar i'm in Exeter, where are you?

celeste83 · 27/01/2016 19:56

Are we still allowed to use bleach during the early stages of pregnancy? A friend on fb chat earlier said i should be avoiding using bleach. Not heard of this one.

balalalala · 27/01/2016 20:05

I'm also suffering with complete exhaustion. Literally crashing out as soon as I get home from work. I've been drinking pukka triple mint tea which seems to be helping my bloat much more than standard peppermint tea.

GuessHowMuch · 27/01/2016 20:19

Celeste I'd read that exposure to bleach can increase true chance of baby developing asthma in the future. I think it's probably rubbish and doubt there is any evidence. I'm just being a bit more cautious with any cleaning products (using gloves, making sure well ventilated etc).

Is it too early to go to bed? Managed to get DS1 down at 7pm and I've been literally sat waiting for a reasonable time to go to bed but I can't wait any longer! My nausea has been a bit worse today; I've got that really yucky taste in my mouth that makes everything taste horrid. I'm also another one looking about six months already.

MargaretCabbage · 27/01/2016 20:28

Guess I'm in bed now. DS had a terrible night last night, so I did too so I just feel tired on top of tired. Will definitely make sure I'm at home for nap times this weekend so I can 'sleep while baby sleeps' and forget the housework!

celeste83 · 27/01/2016 20:35

Damit. The loo could really do with a bit of bleach as i ran out of it at the start of last week and managed to get some today aswell Blush

GuessHowMuch · 27/01/2016 20:57

How old is your DS Cabbage ? We had an awful time of it with sleeping with my DS; he's great to go down now at seven and he usually sleeps through to between five and six but he's a really noisy sleeper and wakes frequently. I don't have to do much any more as he goes back to sleep fairly easily but it's still broken sleep. Then of course as soon as I'm up I need a wee Angry I remember having crappy sleep all through my last pregnancy and thinking that having a newborn couldn't be worse than that - I was wrong though!! Hope you get a good night tonight!

CatFaceCrayola · 27/01/2016 21:07

I am still bleaching the loo every couple of days celeste as long as you're not drinking it or inhaling the stuff pretty sure you'll be fine

Butterflies100 · 27/01/2016 21:12

Hi celeste, I own a cleaning company so know a bit about this! We don't use bleach (buy a decent loo cleaner instead) but whatever you use wear gloves and open windows. We don't let our pregnant ladies clean ovens though because of the horrid fumes.

Stumpysmum · 27/01/2016 21:17

Hello, does anyone mind if I join? Expecting DC2 at end of August (dd 26/08 ish). Had a private scan today and there was definitely a baby in there, whoop whoop!! and a lovely heartbeat of 180bpm. So exciting, was driving myself crazy with worry but now I've seen it I can believe it :)

We have Harmony Test booked for 5th Feb and NHS 12 week scan on 12th.....counting down the days

Will try and add myself to the list when I'm not on my mobile.

MrsS I can highly recommend a private scan, I had quite a few with DD1. It depends where you are based as to availability but if you would like reassurance it definitely helps.

celeste83 · 27/01/2016 21:30

Ok if you lot say its fine then cool i'll pop some down and leave the window open. I've just climbed into the bath so it will have to wait for a bit more longer though. Lying here in the bath I can almost here all the germs festering in the loo probably thinking they've found a cushty nook mwahaha Grin

globetrotter2016 · 27/01/2016 21:31

stumpys are you having your Harmony Test on the NHS or privately? Is this now widely available through the NHS? (so far I have been ignored by the system but when/if I ever get a MW appointment it would be great to know!)

ThatsNotEvenAWord · 27/01/2016 21:48

My DS has decided not to go to sleep anymore this week so that's fun. I went to bed and asked DH to settle him and he came and got me out of bed cos he wouldn't settle. Bad end to the day :(

zeeka · 27/01/2016 21:49

Welcome bubu and congratulations Smile

Plain rice and cucumber for tea. Sickness is starting up! After a week of dry heaving and nausea (tmi I know) I finally threw up (to coincide with children's bedtime. Ideal!!) strangely feel a bit better though. My current anti-sickness remedies are werthers originals, oranges and fanta. I can't seem to handle water, which is insane, so I'm drinking more milk! I hope you've all had a good day xx

Stumpysmum · 27/01/2016 21:51

hi globetrotter we're doing the harmony privately (how I wish it could be on NHS). Still too early for the NHS but it was announced quite recently that they will be rolling it out in the not too distant future, I think it will only be for high risk pregnancies rather than for all though.

We're doing it this time for peace of mind. With DD1 all the nuchal tests were fine, came back with 1:100,000 risk which was fab but at 20 week scan our DD1 measured too small for dates and the remainder of my pregnancy was so stressful with scans and consultant appointments every 2 weeks until they evicted her at 36 weeks with the suggestion she had some kind of chromosomal abnormality.

So, although it is expensive, we are doing it for peace of mind this time as it would have solved a lot of issues last time round but we were too late to do it and I didn't want an amnio

DD1 was fine btw it was just the stupid NHS pregnancy dating system that threw everything off. The poor thing wasn't quite cooked long enough but other than that she was and is absolutely fine :)

SewSlapdash · 27/01/2016 21:58

Hi celeste I'm also in Exeter

FrazzleRock · 27/01/2016 21:58

Evening all. Goodness, even more newbies. Wow! Is this the largest ante natal thread ever? Welcome to you all.
I'm really going to struggle with this thread so I'm apologising now!

So I got my booking appointment through! Tuesday 9th Feb. Phew, I'm in the system then. I'm going off to google harmony scans....

Still waiting for my Baby on Board badge. I said I'd never have one but I seem to have forgotten what it's like to travel in crush hour during early dizzy pregnancy. I ordered it well over a week ago and it's supposed to arrive within 5 working days. In fact they said it would come before then. I'll just stick my tummy out until I get it then. I had to give up my seat for a woman who had a badge the other day. It was hard not to say I'm pregnant too.
Bloody hell I sound precious. This pregnancy has really changed me!

FrazzleRock · 27/01/2016 22:06

What's the difference between the harmony test and the 12 week nuchal fold scan?
I know Harmony's a blood test, right?
But do they give different results?
Harmony looks £££

globetrotter2016 · 27/01/2016 22:22

stumpys - thanks for your reply. Read that NHS announcement a couple of weeks ago or so as well and was hoping it is already in use. Completely understand your reassurance reasoning- especially after your experience with DD. Glad she is alright despite having been "undercooked" Smile

frazzle - if you want any tips on how to stick out your tummy I can help Wink I haven't sent off for my badge as work still not in the know and I kind of feel uncomfortable with wearing it before looking it (thought apparently I already do but this will be a one off!!!! peppermint tea by the gallons from tomorrow!!).
Harmony is just a new, super fancy blood tests that looks at the baby's circulating DNA in your blood stream to look for any chromosomal abnormalities. It is more sensitive than the current combination of blood tests and nuchal fold scan but tbh they are still very good. Don't worry about it too much unless you think you are at increased risk for Down's. I think they are planning to offer it to women who come up as high risk on the current tests instead of an amniocentesis....

Kitkatmonster · 27/01/2016 23:26

I seriously can't keep up. Hi newbies. Personally, I'd take the 'risk' load of rubbish over stinking smelly loos for 9 months. I imagine the germs and crap from not bleaching and cleaning would be much more of an issue in the long run.

Kitkatmonster · 27/01/2016 23:31

I was tempted by harmony or panorama but have since discovered the NHS hospital I'm booked at do a similar non invasive test called lucina. It isn't free yet but marginally cheaper at £330. I'm going to see what my risk is like after the combined test and I'd look at this before invasive tests, mainly because there's no risk of miscarriage versus the amnio risk, and the non invasives are a much more accurate risk predictor than the combined test. Obviously it's still only a risk assessor - only an amnio or CVS can say definitively.

TheVeryHungryMummapillar · 28/01/2016 06:07

Celeste I'm just down the road in Okehampton. I had my little girl at the RD&E and will be having this little one there too.
