Biffle I always fall asleep on my front too (I'm 20+5). I've read lots that the baby is so cushioned and protected that you'll find it too uncomfortable to keep doing it long before you could squish the baby.

Betty79 · 17/01/2016 11:05

Morning ladies, I've had a horrible week feeling ill, been off work sick. Started to feel better yesterday but ended up with the worst indigestion I have ever had all day and the sickness was back with it! Hoping for a better week this week.

I have my 20 week scan on Tuesday Smile

I'm still sleeping on my side/stomach but stick a pillow under my knee.

mrsmugoo · 17/01/2016 11:37

Place marking :)

MadrigalElectromotive · 17/01/2016 11:45

Off to look at some prams - really excited! Hope everyone else is having a good day.

mrsmugoo · 17/01/2016 11:46

Sleeping is still pretty comfy for me, I'm putting a pillow behind my back to stop me rolling onto my back in the night. I'm sleeping on my right side because that's my usual side. I forced myself to sleep on my left last time and it felt so wrong so this time I'm staying with what's comfy! I haven't bought a pregnancy pillow because I remember loathing the bloody dream genie I had before as I'd always end up in knots in the bloody thing and couldn't wait to see the back of it!

Yes weeing every half hour in the day and 2-3 times in the night. Can never get back to sleep after getting up at 5am for the loo so am perpetually tired.

Feeling more little pokes and prods now, still very light and very sparse compared to my 20 week kicks last time but at least I know she's in there!

My scan is on Wednesday and I've also had a consultant appointment come through for Feb 8th but I'm going to try to change it as its on a Monday and it's literally my only day of the week I don't have a childcare option and I'm not taking him up there at 11am right when he'll start getting tired and grouchy. Hopefully it'll be the only time I have to see a consultant as I should be a straightforward VBAC if this little lady decides to be head down, unlike her naughty big brother.

redtammy · 17/01/2016 12:34

I've got one of the giant maternity pillows and love it as it helps me stay sort of half on side and half on front as I am a back sleeper normally. However it does feel a bit like wrestling with an octopus sometimes, and between it, me and the puppy (who to my shame sleeps in our bed when it's cold) there's not much room for Mr Red!

In a move which I think may be repeated DP came home steaming drunk last night so I took full advantage and suggested we buy an Amby baby hammock (he is a notorious drunk internet shopper) and am looking forward to our first proper baby purchase arriving on Tuesday! Does anyone have any hammock experience? I am completely sold on it, mainly on the grounds that I would love to sleep in a hammock!

What do people use/like the idea of using for day time sleeping? There has been some chat in another thread and it got me thinking as I have a young dog as well so need somewhere off the floor.

TomboyGirl · 17/01/2016 12:39

TattedPixie · 17/01/2016 12:43

Place marking. Can't believe we are on thread number 6 already!

Mrspopper · 17/01/2016 12:55

Ugh I'm so grumpy. Any girls name I like OH doesn't and vice versa. It's irrationally annoying me today.

dollydaydream84 · 17/01/2016 12:57

I really agree that the cute outfits are a faff until they can hold their heads a bit by 12 weeks. Poppers aren't too bad but anything with a button on the back, just avoid!

Violet - hard to say really but the first batch of clothes really only does last a month or so (the newborn stuff), maybe two, again depending on the size of the baby. DC1 had about 3 or 4 outfits for the first few weeks but beyond that as the others have said, she was in sleepsuits.

Osirus - I get that sometimes and didn't have a water infection but sometimes it can be due to a water infection so might be good to get checked out if it persists. Can just be pregnancy though. Its very glamorous.

For anyone still waiting for their scan, mine is 4 weeks off yet so I'll be joining you as the last scanee :)

redtammy - we just used the moses basket until she was too big for it then the big cot day and night. She hated the moses basket at night but loved it in the day....!

Thinking of getting a swinging crib or a crib this time, anyone got any experience of how long they last? Hoping about 6 months? Having the big cot in our room was a logistical nightmare last time.

iamdivergent · 17/01/2016 13:13

My scan is 28th January Smile

LouLou030783 · 17/01/2016 13:21

popper we are the same with boys names OH likes nothing not one name girls names I've fallen in love with one but he's not keen on it Confused it's so difficult

How's everyone's skin???sorry if TMI my face is fine but my shoulders and back keep having little break outs x

Snowflake16 · 17/01/2016 13:25

I'm still sleeping on my front and almost 21 weeks, like others have said I sleep with my leg bent out and if I do put too much pressure on my stomach she gives me a nice powerful kick to let me know.

Went a little bit crazy at Mothercare yesterday, bought the Slivercross pioneer travel system, crib and mattress, 2 crib bale sets, 2 blankets, cot mobile, shelf with peghooks, 3 soft toys, wall canvas and wall stickers. Pick it all up on Tuesday, I think we'll need to take 2 cars Blush

bikingintherain · 17/01/2016 13:34

That sounds like a lot of fun snowflake! We have pretty much everything we need but I'd quite like to get a couple of bits and bobs.

But I will wait until after the scan tomorrow. I'm a bit nervous about it, but am looking forward to finding out the sex.

mrsmugoo · 17/01/2016 13:51

Redtammy - my experience and the experience of basically everyone I know is that you're lucky for a baby to sleep in the day at all and it's mainly on you, in a sling or in a (probably moving) pram. If you get a small baby to settle in anything else, it's a rarity! I wouldn't bank on baby sleeping in Moses basket or any specially bought equipment in the day time.

Months of frustration with my first learnt me this lesson the hard way and I will be co-sleeping and slinging from birth this time!

iamdivergent · 17/01/2016 13:53

LouLou I have a cluster on my shoulders Confused so annoying.

I've been looking at prams, I don't drive but DH does so I wanted something that is a pram but can be used with a car seat on the Base for when it goes in the car boot.

MollieRos · 17/01/2016 14:54

LouLou my shoulders have got so spotty! Who even knew shoulder spots were a thing?! And my hands have got so dry and itchy which isn't usual for me. Still waiting for my hair to get lovely and thick and shiny, it's just got really greasy so far.

17caterpillars1mouse · 17/01/2016 15:51

snowflake what colour pioneer have you gone for? Think we're going for the sand colour. Do you know if the free carseat comes in the matching colour or just Black?

Good luck to those having scans tomorrow. Ours is Tuesday

Snowflake16 · 17/01/2016 15:58

caterpillars We have gone for damson (purple) and chrome chassis. Yes you get the free car seat but only in black. You also get a free seat lineer and change bag in the colour to match your pram. We went to mothercare and got them to show us how to use it, then we ordered it online has the colour we wanted wasn't in stock.

laughingGnomette · 17/01/2016 17:19
