Sorry I've been off thread for a while ladies, just catching up with the new one now.

Seeing the early scan pics come through is very exciting, especially yours glencoco after such a tough time. I'm so pleased for you.

Christine I can sympathise with work being the last place you want to be, but it's a good plan to put some money away while you can if it means an easier time financially when the baby arrives.

I've just finished the last of the wrapping this evening, and had my supermarket delivery this afternoon, so all set for the big day. Ds1 is soooo excited this year. He found it hard to get to sleep tonight, so goodness knows what he'll be like tomorrow! Will have to take them for a walk round the hill to tire them out I think!

I still keep pinching myself that this is really happening. It's so easy to forget about it when dashing about all day, and not having many symptoms. So then I have to give my boobs a squeeze to make sure they're still sore! It's a good job I don't get out much, I'd get quite a peculiar reputation!

I'm only up so late as I managed an afternoon nap today while ds2 had his nap, I put a film on and snuggled up on the sofa with ds1 only to wake up an hour later! Bliss. But shattered again now so off to bed.

fly congratulations! So we are the same dates then 😊. I had my midwife appointment today too and her due dates are off too, I did try to tell her I knew the dates but she said they always use LMP. She was so nice though so that's a bonus. I've made it through a whole evening alone either my parents and sister without telling them. When DH gets here tomorrow I'm going to tell them though as the suspense is killing me.
Hope you all have a lovely Christmas! Good luck with no drinking, no brie and no pate!

MrsSantaClause · 24/12/2015 06:51

It's so lovely for all of you who have lovely scan pics to show people at Xmas, congrats everyone on getting good news! Thanks I can't wait for my scan, still haven't got a date through but my mw appt isn't til 5th so guess I'll get it after that. I'm so excited, and bloated and tired and sick all at once... Going to have to dig out all my elasticated comfy clothes soon Confused

lilygirl81 · 24/12/2015 08:43

Morning all, sorry to keep going off thread, I've been feeling so terrible that I barely have the energy to write posts. I'm pleased people are getting relief with anti nausea meds, can I ask what you have been given? I have Prochlorperazine but still feel ill.

We had our private scan last night, no photo to add as they are on a cd and I've not had access to a computer, but after the NHS one dated me at 6+5 last Wednesday, this week I measured 9+1, which is spot on for the midwife dates and ahead of where I thought. It was a great scan, so clear and really makes me feel better about telling the family this evening.

Glad everyone seems sorted for Christmas, I need to finish my sister's scarf but otherwise am pretty sorted, had to be as we came down to my parents last night.

Do you think it would be daft for us to try and see Star Wars today? The cinema here has great VIP seats that recline with foot rests, so I'd actually be comfy, but not sure if I should risk that much activity the day before Christmas. For reference, washing my hair uses most of my energy (and actually I'd need to do that too).

Out of interest, what are people doing about baths? I've been using a baby bath thermometer at home to keep it cool enough, but forgot to bring it and really fancy a soak.

MrsSantaClause · 24/12/2015 08:53

I have my bath at normal temp lily, as long as it's not so hot there's sweat streaming down your face, you'll be fine. There's nothing worse than sitting in lukewarm water

lilygirl81 · 24/12/2015 09:00

Thanks MrsSantaClause that makes me feel a lot better Grin

Jw35 · 24/12/2015 09:07

Congrats Fly and Lily! Great news!
What do you mean about baths???

I'm 8+1 today and still suffering with sickness and fatigue. Xmas is nice and distracting though!

Are you all avoiding alcohol? I might have a really really small glass of sherry later. Although I prob won't feel like it!

lilygirl81 · 24/12/2015 09:30

JW I read that you shouldn't have a bath hotter than 36 degrees while pregnant, but it's really hard to enjoy one at that temperature. I think I'll relax on that a bit and just make sure I'm not too hot during the bath

M2B816 · 24/12/2015 09:51

Jw no cravings for a drink, can't believe I'm saying this as I used to love my drink(S)!

Can anyone let me know if blood test will be done on the first mid wife appointment please?

BuffaloCustardbath · 24/12/2015 10:24

Still absolutely no pregnancy symptoms here, not a single one! Trying not to stress about it and take some comfort that at least my nails are nice and strong for once Grin haha.

Yes I had blood taken at the booking appointment M2.

LeoLemur · 24/12/2015 10:44

I had friends over last night- they didn't even notice I wasn't drinking- I was up and about being hostess with the mostess!! No-one even blinked when I tried to force the cheese on them when they went to leave lest I get too tempted by the illicit stuff!! Not sure it'll be so easy when I get to my parents... Thankfully no symptoms 5 +3ish. Just as well since DP's mates didn't leave til nearly 2am!!

lilygirl81 · 24/12/2015 11:13

Well done Leo sounds like s great party!

My midwife didn't do bloods until week 8, so it might depend on how early you see them.

MrsSantaClause · 24/12/2015 11:28

I think it's just in case you start to feel faint from the heat, and it's also not good for your body temp to rise too much, but I've never had a problem and I've never tested my baths... It's one of the luxuries I really enjoy while pg..

Jw35 · 24/12/2015 12:00

Always had hot baths throughout my last pregnancy! Does anyone know the science? What are the dangers?

Just ate 2 packs of quavers. Crisps really help with nausea!

Really don't feel like rich Xmas food, cakes or mince pies-yuk! Sweets and chocolate also make me ill :-/

ToElleWithIt · 24/12/2015 12:02

Glad everyone is getting on so well. Thrilled for you coco. Fabulous news.

Hazel and Amelia were on my list for DS JW35 we found out he was a boy. Think we'll keep it a surprise this time. My gut says girl, but I have rotten form at baby predications. Loads of girls names that I love, but we'd struggle to agree on a boy's name I think.

Decided to put myself out of my misery and had an early private scan. Saw heartbeat and measured 6+4 so EDD moved back to August 12th- not a surprise as my cycle is long. Yay!

Definitely have a nice hot bath. I loved them first time round. Such relief. As long as you're not sweating or anything you'll be fine.

Party sounds fab leo

Oh and my SIL just announced she's expecting on June 22nd. So exciting. She lives 10 mins away so it'll be great to have some company on Mat leave!

lilygirl81 · 24/12/2015 12:39

Elle that's great about your scan x

Sorry for any upset about the bath thing, I think it's the same as jacuzzi etc, not supposed to raise your body temp too high, but realistically, a bath won't do that.

We have a girls name (Rose, middle names Lily and Mary) and boy (James) but plenty of time to change. Plus with my sister due twins she may well go for James herself if there is a boy (she's telling me the sexes today!) as that was our favourite grandfathers name.

OwlinaTree · 24/12/2015 12:59

Hi guys, great to see more lovely scans. I feel like the side of a house today, really bloated.

Woke up in the night with a pain, immediately thought the worst. But it's not a cramping pain, feels more like I've pulled a muscle. Do you think I should be worried?

quitecrunchy · 24/12/2015 13:03

Yeah I read you should avoid jacuzzis and saunas early on as excessive rises in core body temp could interfere with neural tube development. I think half the problem with jacuzzis is that you're in up to your neck, whereas in the bath if you're anything like me half of you is hanging out anyway. 36 degrees sounds mad, surely that would actively cool you down? I'm guessing as long as you don't get a major sweat on its fine.

MrsZumbaDancer · 24/12/2015 13:54

Place marking, so much to catch up on!

MrsZumbaDancer · 24/12/2015 13:56

Oh and nausea started to kick in, last time lasted until 11 weeks so hoping I can get through Xmas day ok!

Somnambulator · 24/12/2015 14:31

Just hopped out of a lovely bath Smile

So nice seeing all the new scan pictures! I'm guessing there are a lot of us telling family members tonight and tomorrow.

quitecrunchy · 24/12/2015 17:19

Owl I wouldn't worry about it, probably just the hormones doing things to your muscles. I read somewhere it's easier to pull a muscle when pregnant too.

BuffaloCustardbath · 24/12/2015 17:31

owl I've been having pulled muscle type feeling in my lower abdomen too, I went to the GP about them during my last pregnancy and he said it was normal stretching sensations.

lily has your sister found out the sex of her twins yet? How exciting - 3 new little babies in your family soon!!

We are only 5+3 so we're going to hold off telling family - by this stage last time we had told all parents and siblings!! It's quite nice keeping it to ourselves this time though, our little secret!

OwlinaTree · 24/12/2015 20:46

Yes, told my mum and dad this afternoon, they were delighted! Warned then it's still early days, but it's hard not to get excited about a new baby isn't it?

OwlinaTree · 24/12/2015 20:47

Thanks quite and buffalo, everything's been OK today so fingers crossed.
