I can imagine! I would have been a wreck. In my head if something like that happens it's just game over, you hear stories about it being for no reason and everything being fine but you never think it will happen to you

Christinedonna · 23/12/2015 12:54

I decided what I'm doing with work for anyone that remembers my little rant. Il stick at it for now, when I feel abit better within myself il pick up as many hours as possible, then after maternity leave I'm gone. We're entitled to a little bit of help with just the OH working so atleast im still bringing in money. Il go back to work when the little one goes to nursery. I had a bit of a dispute over this with my sister (she has no kids and has quite a selfish attitude) as apparently my plan is lazy. She actually asked me "so what will you do all day??" I'm sure il have my hands full! Apparently it wouldn't be hard for me to work a 40 hour job and have a baby. I won't even go into the countless reasons she's wrong but the main one is, no money is worth giving up 40 hours of my baby's life every week. We won't struggle so I feel like I'm making the right choice

Well done glencoco!!! Now you can celebrate Christmas properly!! [santa]Star[santa]

OwlinaTree · 23/12/2015 12:57

Great news coco!

Glad you've managed to find a solution to the work dilemma Christine. If you can stick it out to get some maternity benefit that sounds like a good solution.

quitecrunchy · 23/12/2015 14:29

So lovely to see all these photos and hear positive news from early scans - congrats carna, coco, and alfie!

Shary congrats on your bfp. I suppose you would be 8 weeks but I guess they would probably update that at your dating scan. I'd be counting from 2 weeks before ovulation.

Christine both me and DH have a feeling it's a girl. Don't know why cos I've always had a feeling I'd have boys!

Dileas29 · 23/12/2015 15:25

That's excellent glencoco what lovely news.
I am just about to go back to doctors, this virus has now given me shortness of breath and wheezing as well as chills, 5 days now and getting worse. I'm struggling to even give DD cereal in the morning I need some answers and Google pointing to pneumonia so I need to calm down and get checked

Jw35 · 23/12/2015 15:37

GlenCo I'm crying! I bloody love you and your dramas, I keep thinking you're going to leave us then you keep surprising us! I'm so happy for you, that's amazing news!!!

Jw35 · 23/12/2015 15:40

Christine no idea! I knew last time it would be a girl and was right but this time I haven't a clue! I've got a boys name as I had a name lined up for my last pregnancy. He would be Alex! Girls names keep doing my head in! I like Hazel, Eleanor, Amelia, Mia and Willow. I can't decide though! My dd's middle name is Hazel so not sure whether to use it!

Somnambulator · 23/12/2015 15:40

glencoco that really is a wonderful early Christmas present. So smiley thinking about how you must have felt during that scan. Guess you will never know what that bleeding was all about!

dileas you could be me! Am still signed off from work. Although the vomiting has eased slightly. I'm full of virus, chills and wheeze and a very sore chesty cough! Hoping it will pass as has been going on since the weekend. Staying warm in bed! Look after yourself!!

Christinedonna · 23/12/2015 16:13

is anyone suffering from dry skin?

Dileas29 · 23/12/2015 16:47

somna have you seen doctor about it? What a shame I really feel for you. Have a feeling doc won't do anything but I can't go on like this. Being upset in front of my two year old is just awful

alduxbury · 23/12/2015 18:37

Glencoco that is the most incredible news - congratulations. No doubt your emotions have been all over the place. Hopefully you can have a lovely, relaxed Christmas now.

I have my first midwife appt tomorrow morning (9weeks exactly) and apparently it will take about an hour. I've been told they will sort my scan date too so hopefully it will be informative and feel more real.

I had some spotting if you can call it that on Sunday (brown tinged discharge with the slightest pink on one wipe, nothing since) but I will be mentioning that too her.

xx

FourForYouGlenCoco · 23/12/2015 20:08

Christine I think your plan of action re work sounds very sensible. I know how horribly hard it is to stick something out when you'd rather be anywhere else but it will be worth it in the long run!
Shary they will probably go by your lmp, so count you as 8 weeks, but you'll probably find that your due date gets pushed back at your scan and matches with your ov date!
Dileas and som that sounds awful, like you need to be poorly on top of all the stresses and strains of early pregnancy! Hope the horrible germs clear off Brew
Jw if you can believe it - I'm generally known as being very chilled out and laid back! Not prone to freak outs at all. This pregnancy is ruining me 🙈
I love all your name choices! Hazel is lovely but I don't think you can get away with using it if it's your DD's middle name already, sorry Sad Not got as far as names yet but we still have a shortlist from DD so will be perusing that! I find girls' names easy but really struggle with boys' names! No inkling either way as to what this one is, but I absolutely knew DD was a boy so I won't be trusting my instincts anyway Grin I want to keep it a surprise this time but I am horrible at delayed gratification, so we'll see what happens!

FourForYouGlenCoco · 23/12/2015 20:09

Wow, that was way too many exclamation marks. Sorry all Confused

quitecrunchy · 23/12/2015 20:10

Christine oh my god yes my skin is so dry and a bit itchy all over my body except my face, which is twice as greasy as normal.

Anyone else had daily aching/cramping early on? I'm just at 4w6d but have had an almost constant low level ache (like AF about to start) for the last week and a half. I'm not particularly concerned, but just wondering when/if it will stop!

SharyBobbins · 23/12/2015 20:31

It's taken all day but I've finally read the last thread!
Thanks for the advice ladies, handing in my midwife forms tomorrow. Feel a bit symptomless today- I know I should be grateful not to have morning sickness or anything but I kind of want symptoms if that makes sense?!
GlenCoco having read the old thread I'm thrilled by your good news!!

Flybynight1 · 23/12/2015 20:38

Alfie congratulations on your scan! Great that your dates are spot on!! Did you have he dark haired girl with the fringe?

Glencoco that is the most wonderful news!! How amazing!!! This whole thing really is the most terrible rollercoaster-fingers crossed for you now that there aren't any more loop-the-loops!!!

Hazel is lovely but I don't think you can get away with using it if it's your DD's middle name already, sorry

I know I feel the same! Scrapping that one much as I love it!

BuffaloCustardbath · 23/12/2015 21:41

So what are everyone's Christmas Eve plans? Is everyone ready for the big day?

Christinedonna · 23/12/2015 21:43

I'm all ready thank god! Going to get my nails done tomorrow then shopping with my sister as she's not quite as organised. Although I just realised it will probably be packed. Great! Then home and pjs

Jw35 · 23/12/2015 21:47

Yes all ready! Thank god. I still have to wrap everything though. Tomorrow I'm going to wrap presents, watch films and laze about! Taking kids to a christingle in the evening and my sister is coming over for the afternoon and night Smile

Flybynight1 · 23/12/2015 21:50

Having a quiet one!! Just me and DH and my brother this year so he's arriving in the morning and we will probably spend the day catching up and lounging Smile all the shopping is done so we can hunker down and wait for this storm to pass!!!

MrsSantaClause · 23/12/2015 21:52

Mostly ready, just got s couple of fresh bits to get from tesco that I couldn't get in advance, hoping dh will be home early so I can nip in without the dc, then home for a bath, takeaway and then Xmas pjs and film [santa]Chocolate dh is mega excited about telling his parents and our dc on Xmas day Grin

Flybynight1 · 23/12/2015 21:55

Just wanted to share my scan with you all! 7w2 she dated at which is bang on what I thought (and way off the midwives little wheel thing) blob at the top is the yolk sac and blob at the bottom is the prawn baby-head probably on the left as it's bigger and the heart was nearer it.

Plus she confirmed the follicle I ovulated on was on my left ovary-which is where I thought I felt an ovulation 'pop' on the day I ovulated! The story comes together Smile

I was so smug having no symptoms other than low level cramping but today, at 5+2 I've felt sick all day! Not enough to stop me doing things but there in the back ground. It's better if I drink juice, so keeping up the fluids.

Got family here and it's hard hiding the non drinking....
