Congrats carna it really looks like a baby, wow!

AlfieTheRailwayCat · 22/12/2015 21:01

carna congrats!

My bean has a heartbeat, I'm 7+1 which is exactly what I thought and its 1.02cm. So pleased! It had a nice yolk sac too.

fly if you have the same lady tomorrow then she is really lovely - even printed me extra photos so I can pass to family on Christmas Day.

Eminado · 22/12/2015 21:06

Congrats on successful scan Grin

Christinedonna · 22/12/2015 21:55

Do you have to pay for your scan pictures? My sister said they ask for a donation

Dileas29 · 22/12/2015 21:58

Yes mine in Scotland is donation christine we put in a few pounds

SharyBobbins · 22/12/2015 22:45

Hi ladies, do you mind if I join you? I've not read all of the previous thread but I have every intention of doing so over xmas! I'm pregnant (wow- that's the first time I've typed those words!) with our first after nearly a year of trying. I'd been referred to a gynaecologist due to irregular cycles (between 42-55 days) & was due to have an internal scan for suspected PCOS when I got my BFP. I feel very lucky! I'm finding everything a confusing minefield, especially when working out how far gone I am!! I've been going off my conception date (tracked ovulation with opks & temping) so I'm confident the date is right (26th Nov). However I've booked a reassurance scan & they've said I should be going off the first day of my last period with was 4th Nov. So...erm....how many weeks pregnant am I?!

OwlinaTree · 22/12/2015 23:07

Congratulations shary

Congratulations Alfie

You pay a fiver in my hospital Christina

Jw35 · 22/12/2015 23:09

Congrats Shari!

It's £3 for scan pic where I am

BuffaloCustardbath · 22/12/2015 23:36

Congratulations Alfie that's great news!

M2 I remember being so disappointed and feeling really let down after I excitedly booked a GP appointment following my BFP and she just nonchalantly told me to refer myself to the midwife and wait for an appointment by post - I was like WHAT?! I need information!! And all anyone would say is 'oh it's early days yet...'. I ended up going for a private dating scan at 7+2 as I couldn't wait any longer and all was perfect :)

M2B816 · 23/12/2015 06:19

Buffalo I don't blame you for that! I guess this is just a norm in this country. Have you had your midwife appointment yet? When did you get a call from midwife after your dating scan? Eager to have blood test more than scan at this stage to make sure it's all fine.

Jw35 · 23/12/2015 06:47

Buffalo it's not the norm in my gp surgery! I went in and they said I needed a doctor appointment. The doctor gave me info and leaflets etc and then told me to tell reception to book the midwife app. So my midwife app is on the 30th. The midwife will call the hospital while I'm there and book my scan and tell me the date. All other aftercare is made by the gp and hospital.

Colabottle10 · 23/12/2015 07:59

Hi everyone! I agree that my initial GP appointment was a real let down. I'm not sure what I expected, I assumed they would do a pregnancy test but they just took my word for it! Wrote down my LMP date and gave a predicted DD and then told me to go to reception to pick up a maternity pack. There's a note in with all the forms that the midwife will ring but nothing yet. I guess it's still early days as I'm 5+1, so will give it till the New Year and if we've not heard from them then I'll ring the GP again.

Where is everyone going for their private scans? I can't find anywhere near me that does them.

GirlFromMars1 · 23/12/2015 08:12

Anyone else really struggling with the fatigue? All I want to do at work
Is sleep! Last night I went to sleep at 8.30 and only woke up at 7.30 this morning cos my alarm was going. Think I could have happily had a few more hours... Zzzz! Coming to the conclusion it's a vampire baby. Confused

BuffaloCustardbath · 23/12/2015 08:50

Yes I suppose that's the other thing Jw, it'll also differ between local health authorities (if that's what they're called, I'm not sure) and even by the different hospitals that they're attached to maybe??
It all ended up a bit of a mess M2 as I was really patient and waited and waited but no letter arrived so I called the GP at almost 10 weeks and the midwife was off sick!! So I had my booking appointment at the hospital and they booked my 12 week scan there and then.
If you Google 3D pregnancy scan then the name of your town you should find any local private scanning clinics Cola, there are quite a few of them around here near where I live, they offer 3D / 4d / HD live scans and you can buy teddy bear with a heartbeat recording inside, gender reveal scratch cards and all sorts of novelty stuff like that. They also have huge screens in front of you so you get a really really good look at baby on a nice big screen - theyre lovely but they're not medical scans so if there was anything wrong I think they just tell you that you need to see a medical professional rather than diagnosing anything.

AlfieTheRailwayCat · 23/12/2015 09:18

Mine was a private early scan so I could have as many pictures as I wanted really. The screen was great made it so clear. The sonographer was really helpful and answered my questions, checked all round my uterus and ovaries and focused on the heart beat a few time for me. It was lovely and reassuring. Obviously it's never a guarantee but it has made me feel a little more settled.

carnassials · 23/12/2015 10:29

My 8 week scan was part of the NHS IVF process, so it was booked in from the day I found out.

ToElleWithIt · 23/12/2015 10:42

Glad all the scan went well ladies. The pictures are fab!

I'm exhausted too GirlfromMars. I'm finishing up at work today and think I will celebrate by having a nap.

M2B816 · 23/12/2015 11:36

Thanks Buffalo. I guess there is nothing I can do for now rather than wait. Apart from extremely sensitive and massive boobs, it's business as usual [santa]

PickleBot · 23/12/2015 11:38

Shary I have PCOS too and I was wearing a fertility monitor so I know what day I ovulated as well. My doctor wouldn't change the EDD from the one based on my period, but when I saw the mw yesterday she had an option to base it from the day of ovulation on her date gadget so it's been amended by a couple of weeks. We'll see if the scan agrees!

Welcome to our new mummies! X

Christinedonna · 23/12/2015 11:44

Is anyone feeling like they have a hunch about whether it's a boy or girl? We've said boy from the very beginning but have pretty much decided on a girl name but no idea for a boy. Knowing my luck it'll be a girl, then il change my mind about the name and be back to square one. Is anyone not finding out?

BuffaloCustardbath · 23/12/2015 12:06

No boy/girl hunches here yet Christine, do you? In fact I barely feel pregnant at the moment. I remember last time I just knew that she was a girl, but that gut feeling didn't come till a bit later on - when we found out that we were expecting a girl I just thought "yeah, I know!" Haha.
So far this time we are agreed that we won't find out... Let's see if we stick to that though Wink

Christinedonna · 23/12/2015 12:17

I would LOVE the surprise of not finding out and waiting until it's in front of us but I'm far too impatient for that!

FourForYouGlenCoco · 23/12/2015 12:23

Well ladies I am completely gobsmacked. Been for another scan today, fully expecting the worst. Even the tech was like "so we're probably expecting bad news".

The baby is fine!!! Measuring spot on and looking very happy in there. She looked round everything and said she couldn't see anything at all wrong, apparently my insides are textbook! I absolutely sobbed my heart out. The techs were full of smiles!
No explanation for the bleeding - they said chalk it up to 'just one of those things' and it might even happen again.
I just can't believe it. I think I might be about to cry again! This has totally made my Christmas. I am the happiest person in the whole world right now.
Sorry not replied to anyone but just place marking properly on the new thread! I'm still in shock I think. I've read so many stories over the last few days of heavy bleeding not always meaning the worst but I truly never thought I'd be one of the lucky ones.

August 2016-with Berries turning into Beans and a whole lotta fun ahead!
Christinedonna · 23/12/2015 12:26

I'm so happy for you glencoco you must be so relieved! I remember how horrible it was when they couldn't see anything on my scan and that was with no bleeding or anything you must have been racked with worry! That sounds like the best Christmas present you'll get this year!

FourForYouGlenCoco · 23/12/2015 12:35

The bleed was so awful Christine, the blood literally poured out, I felt like I was peeing myself! I can't believe there isn't even a reason, it must have been from my cervix or something Confused
I'm so bloody happy. My pregnancy with DD was so straightforward, think I'm gonna have my hands full with this baby! It's determined to give me grey hairs Grin
