ohshutup welcome! We just talk a load of nonsense over here.

I've got a story to brighten up your Tuesday mornings...

Dd (age 3) has just started learning sounds in nursery so we often play a game to think of words sounding with a certain letter.
We're in the car playing the letters and sounds game. The letter is F. Dd is struggling so I start her off with Fire and Friend...

her turn....

"Fuh Fuh. ..Fuh. ...FUCK IT!
Hey, that starts with Fuh doesn't it mam!"

Yep... sure does.

Let's hope that little gem doesn't get said to her teachers Blush

Clarab0w · 19/01/2016 11:54

hi guys, can i join you?

my EDD is 1 august but i've held off joining until now as had a pretty nerve-wracking start to this pregnancy. 12 + 1 now and have dating scan 26/1 so beginning to allow myself to think there might be a baby coming my way...

be lovely to chat to other people going through the same baffling things!

Eminado · 19/01/2016 12:20

Hello Clara and Oh

bearhuggy · 19/01/2016 12:42

Hello Oh and Clara WELCOME Smile congrats to you both.

Pretty thats amazing...kids really do say the funniest things !!

my doppler arrives today, excited to try it out, fingers crossed I have some success.

soooo hungry today, have eaten way too much avocado houmous with crispbreads this morning Hmm

how is everyone today?

lilygirl81 · 19/01/2016 13:02

Hi oh and Clara look forward to getting to know you over the next few months.

Bear exciting about your Doppler, I still haven't decided about getting one.

I'm not sure how I am today. Had to spend all yesterday in bed again, felt so nauseous and only managed crisps and mango as well as some ice cubes, which was a bit of a downturn. Hoping things pick up a bit more today.

FourForYouGlenCoco · 19/01/2016 13:26

Hi Clara and Oh and congrats! Lovely to have you both here.
pretty that's hilarious! Hopefully that one stays at home Grin
lily sorry you're not doing so well again. Crisps and mango is still an improvement on a few weeks ago though, right?!
bear good luck with the Doppler today! I also cannot stop eating. Yesterday I had 2 bowls of crunchy nut for breakfast, 5 - yes five - tomato and cheese rolls for lunch, and half a dozen pancakes for dinner, plus various snacks Blush incredibly I've not put on any weight so far, but my scales have now broken, which is probably a blessing. I also appear to have developed a bump overnight which is surely not related to yesterday's eating
Jw any news on your sister? Thinking of you all.

bearhuggy · 19/01/2016 13:34

oh no lily sorry you are still unwell, I thought (was hoping!) that you were on the mend a little now. Fingers crossed today is better, lots of water if you can manage it and just rest up, are you still off work? Will keep you posted on the doppler, i just went for the Angelsounds one from Amazon, seen some good reviews and someone else on here I think had one?!

bearhuggy · 19/01/2016 13:43

haha Coco !!! Good effort on the eating front yesterday, I have just ordered double lunch as couldn't decide which salad to get from Leon...in my head I am thinking 'well I won't eat them both will I', but my pregnant heart says 'yes you will' Hmm

yesjw how are things?? Hope there is some good news today.

M2B816 · 19/01/2016 14:49

Currently experiencing After Lunch Effect (ALE) and dreaming about my bed!

Could see a little bump bulging out here but reckon it's just fats as I've been indulging!

Question for all: do you wear night bra or anything at all to bed? I'm finding sports bra helps the support and put them in place. It bloody hurts especially during the wee hours, double whammy especially having a disturbed sleep as well as painful pair.

OwlinaTree · 19/01/2016 16:31

Welcome oh and Clara.

I wear a sleep bra, helps me stay comfortable at night. Ive got some breast feeding ones from mothercare but also bought some soft crop top style ones from primark which do the job just as well.

Still ill here, feeling a little better. Was able to play with my son last night for an hour and help put him to bed which was a first since Thursday, so that was lovely.

stoptryingtomakefetchhappen · 19/01/2016 16:32

Hello everyone, can I join you?
I am 9+3 with DC2, due 22 August. Quite nervous as have had a bad experience prior to DC1, so really looking forward to my scan (still waiting for date) to check everything is alright in there!
it would really nice to chat with others due in Aug!

peamad · 19/01/2016 16:35

Welcome clara and ohshutup Smile

Lily oh no - I thought you had turned the corner, FX it is only a temporary blip!

pretty that's hilarious Grin

I am absolutely ravenous, just cannot stop eating! Have put on ~2lbs since pre-pregnancy, but given that this period included a honeymoon and Christmas I don't think that's too bad!

I bought an angelsounds doppler at the weekend, but despite trying for 30 mins on Sunday and 20 mins yesterday I couldn't find the heartbeat Sad Trying not to think negative thoughts as know it can be difficult for some people to find. (My midwife said they won't try to find it until after 14 weeks because it can cause more anxiety if they can't find it). I'm 10+5 now, if anyone managed to find the hb at this stage do you have any tips please?

TwistInMySobriety · 19/01/2016 16:47

Hi everyone,
Delurking after yesterday's 12-week scan showed all is well Smile. Due August the 8th with DC2, DS1 is two and a bit. Looking forward to catching up on the thread!

bearhuggy · 19/01/2016 17:08

Oh pea that will be me tonight with the bloody doppler, will keep you posted on how I get on!! Found some quite good videos and tips online, here are a few -

  • A full bladder usually helps
  • Use plenty (tablespoon at least) of ultrasound gel
  • Early on aim the doppler probe low, in line with the pubic hair line and even try tilting it below, the little bean can often be hiding much lower than you would think!
  • Try altering your position from time to time, some say lying on you side can help
  • Lie with your back on the bed but feet resting on the floor
  • Move the probe slowly
  • Make sure the doppler is fully charged
  • Don't panic if you cannot pick the heartbeat up - the fetal heart is tiny and moving, more so in the early stages. Take a break, go for a walk and try again later or the next day.

and here - www.dopplerhire.co.uk/doppler-articles/where-to-find-the-fetal-heartbeat.html

M2B I am not finding my boobs too big at this stage so don't wear a sleep bra but am really finding comfort sleeping with a long pillow resting along my front, not sure if that could help with support?!

Owl sorry you are ill but hopefully you are on the up now and so nice you were able to do the bedtime routine!

Welcome twist, congrats on your scan!

FourForYouGlenCoco · 19/01/2016 17:17

Oh fetch, I like you already! Great minds Grin (check my username)! Sorry to hear about your prev bad experience. Quite a few of us on here have had ups and downs so we do sympathise.
Welcome twist, hurray for good scans! Good to have you on board.

pea don't panic, bear has lots of good advice but it is bloody difficult to find at this stage. I'm 12+4 now and this little one has decided it's not playing ball any more and I can't find heartbeat for love nor money! After a long LONG time searching yesterday I thought I had it, then heard a big 'bloop' which was baby somersaulting or something and that was my lot! No more noises at all. Some babies just don't like to be listened to - when I was a student midwife it was sometimes really difficult even at 30+ weeks.

Owl glad you're feeling better, hope that's the worst of it over and it's all up from here!

peamad · 19/01/2016 17:31

Thank you bear that is all really helpful. I am finding it is quite difficult to direct the angelsounds doppler. Because the probe is quite wide, rather than a small diameter, it is tricky to make small adjustments to the angle. I will definitely persevere though! Hardest part is refraining from my regular trips to the toilet so that I have a full bladder lol

TwistInMySobriety · 19/01/2016 18:46

Just reading back over the thread - Mrs1986 I had a vanishing twin in my first pregnancy. I still think about what might have been but am grateful that DS1 is fine, so I understand your mix of emotions.

Mrs1986 · 19/01/2016 19:26

Twist how did your 12w scan go with the nuchal translucency?
did they reassure you? I'm just worried that I'm gonna spend the whole pregnancy worrying about some of the serious chromosome issues due to lack of blood test results. Maybe I should worry about it after my 12w scan on Thursday?!

Dileas29 · 19/01/2016 20:01

Hi please can I have some advice?
I've had to call midwife as bad cramping from 5pm and it's been constant. pain getting worse and hasn't stopped also had some brown stain on my pants this morning (sorry TMI) . She's referring me to early pregnancy unit so they will call me tomorrow but I've to call if paid intensifies even more and get heavy bleeding.

Is this unusual for 12 weeks? I've never had either bleeding or cramping before or with my last child. Any advice welcome

Flybynight1 · 19/01/2016 20:11

pea I managed to find mine at 10+2, but it did take a bit of work!

Mine was much lower than I was expecting-right on the bikini line and then even tilted the doppler down a bit. I am able to find the (apparently) placenta area where there is a strong heartbeat (mine) and loud whooshy sounds, which is to the right on me, and then for me I head directly left about a cm, and just sit and wait, just tilting the doppler around slowly. Then if I hear nothing, move another cm left (still staying right at the bikini line) and then just stop moving. Til it slightly, slowly and just listen. It's all about being slow, taking your time and having some patience! Full bladder helps too, though I can now find mine without (most of the time!)

glencoco I've been hearing loud 'bloopy' sounds recently-I wondered what it was, do you think it's the bubs doing underwater acrobatics??

OP posts:
FourForYouGlenCoco · 19/01/2016 20:13

Fly yes, as long as you're sure you're in the right general area then it's baby moving that you can hear! (You do also get some digestive 'bloops' but they are obviously in a different place!)
You're listening in to little one's own personal dance class Grin

Mrs1986 · 19/01/2016 20:13

Hi Dileas,
So sorry to hear that you are worried.
How bad is the pain? I've had quite a lot of pain for last two weeks, which has come and gone. My
Midwife said it's perfectly normal due to muscles and ligaments etc.
If you've had babies before though you will know your body best. Definitely a good sign that there is no fresh blood. I personally wouldn't worry about the old blood.
Does the pain go away with parecetemol? Xx

TwistInMySobriety · 19/01/2016 20:18

mrs first pregnancy was 1.6 mm, this one 0.8. Can't remember it being discussed as an issue that might impact bloods.

OhShutUpThomas · 19/01/2016 20:32

Hello all!

dileas hope everything is ok for you Flowers

pea I wouldn't worry, you won't find a hb at 10 weeks, you might get your iliac artery but honestly, a midwife wouldn't even try until 14 weeks at least, more likely 16 Smile

Has anyone else declined antenatal screening? I declined with this one, and with last two as I didn't want the worry of vague results!

I'm so anxious this pregnancy though, can't wait for the 12 week scan. I'm 8+2 now, but only booked in on Sunday so no date yet. I had an early scan at 6 weeks which showed a good hb but I'm still worrying! Never did with the other two. Oh well!

Anyone else got toddlers at home? I've got a 1 year old and a 3 year old and much as I love them I'm so tired all the time!

Mrs1986 · 19/01/2016 20:57

Thanks Twist, let's hope that mine are nice small numbers and then I'll have nothing to worry about!
