stranded I don't know, seems possible though. I've put on 1.2kg but I think that's mainly down to indulging over Christmas, which I keep meaning to correct tomorrow - but it never comes lol! I have read that it can 'correct' itself during pregnancy - I imagine the weight pulls it forward maybe.

strandedabroad · 16/01/2016 18:42

Thanks Leo. We shall see I guess Smile

OwlinaTree · 16/01/2016 22:19

Sorry to hear your news shary. Thinking of you.

MrsSantaClause · 17/01/2016 07:14

So sorry to hear your news shary hope you are being looked after. Thanks
Pleased you have come back Mrs I had been wondering how you were getting on. Smile

I've been trying to persuade dh to let me have an early private scan, but to no avail. He doesn't see why we can't just wait for then have one. Plus my car is in the garage atm and likely to cost an arm and a leg so think he's holding the purse strings tight! Guess I'll just have to wait.

Does anyone who already has dc already have a bit of a bump? Mine is quite big and am not sure how I'm going to hide it for another 2.5 weeks!!

prettyflowers111 · 17/01/2016 08:21

mrssanta I'm 8 weeks and I've got a little bump but I think it's more likely down to bloating unfortunately! I've my privet scan tomorrow evening at 8+3 but no idea how I'm going to then hold out until my 12 week. I think I'll get a doppler, found dd at 9+5 last time and it was just a cheap angel sounds one so it might put my mind at ease a little. I thought I'd escaped the dreaded sickness but it seems to be creeping up on me. I think perhaps it all in my mind after seeing heart beat last week I'm letting myself feel pregnant.

So sorry for everyone who's had bad news this week. Flowers

mrs I've actually been randomly reading up on vanishing twin. From what I've read if at the scan there's still evidence of the fetus or sac then they calculate your risk based on the ultrasound only. If there's nothing left of the vanished twin at that point then they go ahead with the bloods. You must be feeling such a mix of emotions with regard to loosing one of them. I can understand the sense of relief (3 babies would have been crazy!!), but also you must feel a little sad and guilty for your feelings. It's such a difficult and unusual situation to find yourself in. Sending big hugs your way xxx

I've another 8 hour day today, in retail so on my feet for most of that. Wish me luck... I'm exhausted just thinking about the drive in!

Eminado · 17/01/2016 08:37

Mrs santa i am 10 weeks tomorrow and am definitely showing!!! Am wearing maternity jeans and maternity skirts - i am terrified about how huge I will end up, i look about 5 months gone.

As for my boobs......

MamaB80 · 17/01/2016 08:40

Good luck with the long shift today pretty I hope the time flies by!

Delighted to say that the private scan showed our little one and we saw and heard the heartbeat! Best thing ever. It even did a little dance and gave us a wave (okay so it was just jerking around but that how I interpreted it!). Size was spot on and arms and legs as they should be at this stage. It was amazing and I cannot describe the relief. Worth every single penny. I have my booking appt next week and don't know how I'd have got through it having convinced myself that all had gone wrong.
I am now going to allow myself to enjoy being lucky enough to feel well and going to let myself dream about nurseries and baby names a little!
10+2

Jw35 · 17/01/2016 09:48

I'm so sorry Pippo and Shary Flowers

I'm 11+4 today and I've got a stinking cold. Apart from that the nausea is starting to go! I was surprised at my booking appointment to learn I've actually lost 5lb in weight! Must be all the nausea stopping me eat sugary foods and hot dinners! I still feel bloated though. My scan is a week on Monday-feels like forever! I've given up on the Doppler for now, hopefully my scan will reassure me.

lilygirl81 · 17/01/2016 10:00

Mama sounds like a great scan, you must be so relieved. Definitely let yourself enjoy it now.

JW it's weird when you lose weight. I've not checked in a week, but I was down 18lbs at one point. Was annoyed because my tummy still looks massive, then realised its actually probably partly the baby!

Mrs1986 · 17/01/2016 10:20

prettyflowers the vanished twin was identical to one of the surviving babies so it's still there and in the sac with him/her. When we went for scan at 10 weeks it was 4mm (ish).

Let's hope that at the scan on Thursday it's nice and clear and they aren't left with any doubts. I'd hate to come out of there feeling worried!! X

Christinedonna · 17/01/2016 11:28

mrs what does that mean for the vanishing twin that's still there? Will it stay there for the duration of your pregnancy? I can't imagine there being a way to safely remove it? Especially if it's in the same sac.
Has anyone else got peely skin on their nipples? And a full blown case of acne? I've never had spots before and now I'm covered

Mrs1986 · 17/01/2016 12:03

Yep, it'll stay for the whole time, but won't cause any harm other then completely skews the blood results in the combined screening.
So we'll be fully reliant on the u/s. It might continue to get smaller and may completely vanish but it's unlikely x

Christinedonna · 17/01/2016 12:35

Oh wow. That must be horrible for you

Flybynight1 · 17/01/2016 13:54

Mrs so good to hear your update! Sorry about the vanished twin but good the other two are fighting fit!! Grin

lily hope you've enjoyed your weekend at home! I would love some homemade macaroni cheese-nearest I get is packeted stuff! Hope you're feeling a lot better too.

Shary so so so sorry Sad please look after yourself x

11 weeks tomorrow, I've put on about 5lbs total, which I'm not happy with but a lot of that came on during the nausea weeks where I was eating to stop being sick. That's gone now, bloating is subsiding and I'm almost looking normal again! Except any hint of a waist is all but gone and my boobs are massive... I don't think I've even got anything suggesting a bump yet either-I think my belly fat pouch is just bigger!!! Just glad to have my eating habits back to normal (although I am completely starving by mealtimes!). Bring on the Second trimester-I'm ready to tell people!!!! Grin

squigglepants · 17/01/2016 13:54

Christine flaky nipples here too, isn't pregnancy glamorous.

I have not gained any actual weight but all my trousers are unbearably uncomfortable. Don't think it is bump, just icky bloatedness. I am on the larger size anyway so it just looks like too much Christmas indulgence to others so far.

I am struggling with the sickness and exhaustion, really hard to be an effective parent to my 6 and 8 year olds especially without telling them why I feel crappy. My main aim is just to get through each day with all of us alive at the end of it the moment. Hopefully they will understand when I finally tell them.

chandelierswinging · 17/01/2016 15:58

Me too squiggle Feel like the worst Mum in the world at the mo!

FourForYouGlenCoco · 17/01/2016 16:53

Shary I commented on your post on the MC board, am so sorry to hear things haven't worked out.
Mrs so nice to see you back here and your update! What a rollercoaster you've been on, your emotions must have been all over the place. I can understand your relief. Twins is a much more manageable prospect than triplets. But it is still sad. My friend lost a twin during pregnancy and she doesn't miss it per se (her little girl is a handful on her own!) but she does think of what might have been.
stranded sorry your PIL were a bit meh about things, you'd think they'd still be excited! Once baby arrives they'll be head over heels though I bet. My dad won't react much when I tell him my news as he's not big on emotions, but he adores DD and I know he will this one too.
mama your scan sounds brilliant, so glad all is well! You've obviously just gotten lucky symptoms-wise, enjoy it!
MrsS I'm not exactly showing, but definitely looking fatter round the tummy! It's been a few years since my successful pregnancy so my stomach muscles have had a good chance to recover, which I think helps! A few more weeks and I'll have a small but definite bump I reckon.

12+2 here and the sickness seems to be fading, I'm so relieved! Still not feeling 100% but getting there. Nipples are still agonising, can't imagine breastfeeding a newborn at the moment, the thought makes me want to cry, but I know the soreness will go before birth. They're not flaky but they've gone the other way and seem to be a bit damp most of the time, grim. Hoping for scan letter to come through this week.

AlfieTheRailwayCat · 17/01/2016 17:56

shary so sorry to hear that. Look after yourself.

I've got a new symptom for you guys, a left hand pain by my hip bone, bending round towards my uterus. Kind of like a stitch? Is this ligament pain that people talk of?

Less than a week until my scan. I can't wait to tell people and for my nausea to ease. I've had enough now!

M2B816 · 17/01/2016 18:36

Alfie - it could be sciatica. I am experiencing it on one side especially when I lie down flat for some time.

Sciatica when pregnant
Sciatica is a radiating pain that starts in the lower back before travelling along the sciatic nerve down into your lower body. Expectant moms commonly experience sciatica.
What causes it?
Sciatica during pregnancy usually occurs later in gestation, and is generally a result of your expanding uterus applying pressure to the sciatic nerve, which starts in the lower back and runs through your butt and into your legs. As the little one turns and prepares to be born, her head may lie directly on your sciatic nerve, which could make the shooting pains more intense.
Tips?
Stretching is always good for back pain, but the most important thing you can do is rest. The radiating pains might hold out for a bit of time past delivery, but usually they will subside pretty quickly.

Showgirl109 · 17/01/2016 18:40

Today is a sad day for me ladies... I have found my first stretch mark on my tummy. Look a little pregnant already but can't tell if it's baby or bloat or a combination of the two! Off to buy bio oil or similar tomorrow... Does anyone have any product recomensations?

PickleBot · 17/01/2016 19:11

Christine I have too many massive zits to count at the moment...I have no idea how anyone thinks being pregnant is fun!

Squiggle there is a lot of sofa based parenting going on here too. I told DS (4.5) though because loads of other people knew so it didn't seem fair not to tell him.

chandelierswinging · 17/01/2016 19:43

Showgirl I used a very expensive Clarins oil in my first pgcy and inexpensive lotion in my second pgcy. Sadly neither of them made any difference. I was destined to have stretch marks. My only advice from bitter experience would be to try not to gain too much weight, to minimise the stretch marks. They do fade though and I'm actually rather proud of my stripes now although I do wish I hadn't got quite so many, so will be watching my weight carefully from the minute this sickness goes!

AlfieTheRailwayCat · 17/01/2016 19:51

M2B it's not in my back though it's round the front. Very odd and it's passed now after a lie down.

My skin has actually been clearer since I got pregnant which is good because it was awful when I came off the pill.

I've heard lots of people say that you either get stretch marks or you don't. It surely can't harm to use a nice moisturiser though!

peamad · 17/01/2016 20:00

showgirl I'm using a lovely body oil by burts bees. Nice and natural and smells a bit lemony. Agree it is probably mostly genetics but I quite enjoy the process of applying anyway, it's nice and relaxing before bed.

Jw35 · 17/01/2016 20:03

Mrs sorry about your vanished twin. Glad you're ok though

So today my one year old started walking properly, learned to go down the stairs as well as up and my sister is in hospital with suspected aplastic anaemia. She's not doing great, could be hospital for months :( if it is that and I'm a suitable bone marrow match I could have a dilemma on my hands...hopefully it won't come to that and it's something else. Fingers crossed...if it is me and my 2 brothers will be tested, apparently siblings have a 1/4 chance of being a match. It's been a weird day! My plans to move up north and work with her have been put on hold.

Aside from that my sickness has all but gone! I'm 11+4 today
