Hi just got my bfp! I'm early, 3 days before AF was due so not sure if I'm the only one with an August due date?

I'm due August 3rd Smile

I'm considering the double nipper 360. I've got the single and it's so easy to push! I like the idea of a side by side too x

So I had my first appointment today with the midwife, which involved lots of form filling, blood sampling and carrying a plastic cup full of piss across the waiting area. Lovely. Anyway, my due date is now 26 July and I have about 400 leaflets to be reading. Very excited. Considering getting a private scan at 9 weeks so we can tell the parental units at christmas as actual scan will not be until january...

BergamotMouse · 24/11/2015 17:53

That's early for the midwife appointment sunlolly. I've got mine booked for when I'm 6+4 which I booked myself and got myself worried it was too early (as heard it should be 8 weeks). Does it not matter how far along you are?

I've just booked in for a private scan on 19th December so we can tell family at Christmas.

Sorry to hear you've had a tough time getting here glencoco. Fingers crossed for this one.

Asher90 · 24/11/2015 18:03

When did you think your due date was sun lolly? Piss across a waiting room is asking for a spillage :) lmfao, I'm due around 24th July hopefully, so if I see doctor on Monday I'm actually quite late to book my first midwife app. But I'm sort of hesitant because it's yet to sink in that there is a baby in there :) and thinking back, my last af could have been implantation bleed, it was so light. So I'm so unsure about what is going on. Heads left me 😷

Jw35 · 24/11/2015 19:14

Anyone else exhausted?

I'm considering a private scan too Sunlolly but I'll only be 8 weeks at Xmas so not sure, but it would be a lovely Xmas surprise!

I felt exhausted at the weekend JW but did have a busy couple of days.** I went to bed at 8 on Sunday evening for a full 10 hour sleep. Was lovely.

I've managed to stay awake a bit later since though.

FourForYouGlenCoco · 24/11/2015 20:57

Mouse it doesn't matter when you have mw appt really, just means you'll have a long wait til 12 week scan! They will go through your obstetric & medical history, baseline obs, do bloods, go through all the spiel (folic acid, no pâté, etc etc), give you heaps of reading material and book you in again for ~15 weeks. Takes about an hour depending on if you have questions, health issues, etc.
(I was a student midwife til may, only first year but I can do a booking appt with my eyes closed!)
JW I'm absolutely shattered, am ready for bed by 8pm most days! (Then usually end up up til 11 and feel even worse the next day!) I have cut down a lot on caffeine though so that doesn't help either. I struggle to function without coffee!

FourForYouGlenCoco · 24/11/2015 20:59

I'm another one thinking of announcing at Xmas (was going to put scan pic in all the Xmas cards!) but don't know if I'm brave enough! Anyone definitely announcing 'early' (not that there's a rule but ykwim!) or definitely waiting til after 12 week scan?!

Lanhydrock · 25/11/2015 06:21

Hello, I'd like to join too if that's ok. I got my BFP last night (after three days of sore boobs and nausea which I thought I must be imagining as it seemed too early!). I had a CP last month so feeling a bit anxious. My due date is 2 August.

GlenCoco - I always thought I'd wait till the 12 week scan (this is my first) but the nausea makes me wonder if it might all become quite obvious before then anyway! I love your idea of putting a scan pic in Christmas cards - lovely Christmas surprise.

JW - I've been feeling shattered by around 4pm each day (which is when the nausea seems to be at its worst as well). Lots of early nights for me!

BergamotMouse · 25/11/2015 09:11

Thanks for the info glencoco. It's always nice to know what to expect.

I was thinking of scan picture in a card too but having a look at some pics of other scans around the 8 week mark don't think they'll know what they're looking at.

Hi lanhydrock.

I keep going to bed early and sleeping straight away but i always wake up at 5 and can't get back to sleep. So maybe I should try stay up a little later, especially since it's apprentice night.

lilygirl81 · 25/11/2015 10:47

I told my team at work today, since I was late in due to feeling so sick and crampy I could hardly move. Now very nervous I have jinxed everything and any mc will be all my fault (may be feeling irrational too)

I've got my own personal goalposts for this one, getting passed 4+4 was one, then getting passed 5+6 is my next one as that is when my last ectopic reared its horrible head. Then I need to get to 9 weeks as the latest I mc was 8+6. Still, I'm hoping that if my 8 week scan (either private or NHS if they will give me one) shows a heartbeat, then the risks drop so sharply I may start to relax.

I had to put on one of my underwired bras today, think my only maternity one was getting a bit smelly Blush. Boobs fitted in it fine, so I don't think mine have actually grown, just got horrifically painful. I do have on a lovely stretchy maternity skirt though, it may just be giving my fat the room it needs, but so nice not having anything cutting into me.

Asher90 · 25/11/2015 11:15

Lilygirl81 bra's at the moment are the enemy, but underwire for me is completely nessessary!!! Fingers crossed for your early scan.
Sleep at the minute is so strange. Feeling exhausted but cannot sleep until after eleven and wakening at 6 on the button, every morning this week. Which I never do, usually dragging myself out of bed at 7.10 for work at 8.
If I have a scan at ten weeks, it leaves it the week after between Xmas and New year or shortly after. I don't think I can wait that long to share with people.
I've been spying maternity clothes already, some lovely things, has anybody got any recommendations as to where they found best for maternity clothes?

lilygirl81 · 25/11/2015 11:34

Asher I am normally a 36HH, so not having underwire is a new thing for me, but I have actually been amazed at how supportive the one I have has been. I got it from Bravissimo, and although the shape is a bit rubbish, it definitely holds me in place, so could be worth a go.

I remember when I had my first pregnancy years ago, I got told that underwires could cause cysts in pregnant women. No idea if it is true, but I moved on to soft cup as soon as I got my BFP, and am definitely more comfortable. The only thing is the one I got was about £28, which I just can't justify if my size is going to keep changing, so I'm giving the Miriam Stoppard ones from Debenhams a try (if they ever arrive!)

For maternity clothes, I have been on eBay. I've got 3 Isabella Oliver wrap dresses (the same dress in 3 colours because it's amazing) and they are really comfortable. I also got a dress from ASOS maternity which is so pretty, and they all just look like normal dresses. I was going on the principle that a size 16 maternity would fit me as a fat 18, and when I lost weight they would also do me for maternity, and it has worked so far. JoJo BeBe Maman is also lovely. If you'd prefer brand new stuff, I've heard that New Look and H&H Mama are really good

FourForYouGlenCoco · 25/11/2015 11:35

lily I'm doing that! Setting myself little milestones. After CP last month I spent the whole weekend going 'just get to Monday, just get to Monday' in my head...now it's 'get to Friday, get to Friday' like you once I've had a good scan I'll hopefully relax a little bit. Fingers crossed for you.
I'm still in normal bras, my boobs were so ruined after having and BF my DD that I don't think they can get much worse!
Anyone keep having little stabby pelvic pains?? I keep getting them on and off. Have a bad cough at the minute so think I may have pulled a muscle somewhere!
Asher H&M is good (from memory - last needed mat wear in 2012 though so might be different now!), not too expensive and decent quality.

lilygirl81 · 25/11/2015 11:37

GlenCoco I was like that over the weekend too! I only made my midwife and scan appointments once the weekend was over and a clear blue test showed the same dates as I calculated (one I added on the 2 weeks since they measure from conception rather than LMP)

FourForYouGlenCoco · 25/11/2015 11:37

Oh yes and I also bought loads of little strappy tops & light t-shirts from primark in a couple of sizes bigger than usual for the in-between bit when you're too big for normal clothes but the bump isn't quite big enough for mat stuff! Good for BF too. And slightly too big leggings were my friend as well! I probably looked ridiculous most of the time but at least I was comfy - especially important for a summer bump!

FourForYouGlenCoco · 25/11/2015 11:39

lily I know exactly what you mean! It's so scary isn't it. I'm trying to find a balance between not being too stressed (bad for baby!) and not too excited (bad for my mental state if the worst happens!), dont think I'm doing very well though.

Asher90 · 25/11/2015 11:59

Thanks girls, was looking at new look and they had lovely shirts and tops. Quite neutral but could be dressed up, and nothe expensive. H&m could be a hit aswell. Thanks for the advice on bra's. They are a nightmare for me im a 38gg, and if they get much bigger I'm definately going to have to strap them down Grin any bra's I've had without underwire have been the most unattractive things I've ever seen, and have made my boobs look grannyishGrin ill definately have a look at the ones siggested

Lucybearbear · 25/11/2015 17:57

Hello everyone,
Hope you don't mind if I join you here...I previously posted in the July group but the girls on there seem so far ahead! I am due on July 31st (4+3) so most likely will be August as this is my first time.
Have you all got midwife appointments yet?! I have a GP appointment a week on Monday and then have just booked in for a private scan at 8 weeks so I (fingers crossed) have a bit more reassurance to tell close family and friends around xmas time.
Hope everyone is doing well and nice to meet you Smile
x

BergamotMouse · 25/11/2015 18:09

Hi Lucy. I know what you mean about the July thread - it's just so far ahead of us and so fast moving I can't keep up! I booked my midwife appointment myself for the 7th December which is quite early I think as I'll only be 6+4. Have a private scan booked for 19th December too.

Feeling sorry for everyone having to buy new bras already. I'm only a 34B and have noticed no difference at all (probably since they're small to start with).

I'm hoping I don't get a bump for a while - all my work clothes would show a bump straight away and want to hide it until 12 weeks if possible but as a teacher if I start getting sick I'll have to let the boss know as can't just leave a class.

Jw35 · 25/11/2015 19:26

My boobs are still massive from my last baby (born last December) I'm a 36F but I used to be an E. They seem to go up a size each child as I was a D before my eldest! I've got bras still in a G so I'll be fine! Still got maternity clothes too!

I would have been due my period today so been paranoid all day! I had an early mc in September at 4.3 weeks so I need to get past the weekend although I won't really relax until after the 12 week scan!

In my last pregnancy I was more worried when I hit 37 weeks! I think it was because I got so far I was afraid of a still birth!

FourForYouGlenCoco · 25/11/2015 19:32

Ooh JW you lucky thing! I was a perky DD before I HAD DD. Had cleavage and everything! Nowadays they look sad in a C and if I lie on my back I have to scoop them out my armpits

Hurray for getting past AF due date! Think at this point you can safely say you've made it through!

Jw35 · 26/11/2015 06:04

Haha! Thanks

I'm really worried and need reassurance! I had slight AF cramps last night (day AF would have been due) and this morning I have lower back pain like you get before a period? Feeling paranoid Sad

OP posts:
Asher90 · 26/11/2015 07:42

I had pains like that for most of last week. Apparently it can be the start of your uterus making room for baby. Mine stopped after 3 days or so. And I tested like mad all over weekend. Fingers crossed this is what's happened for you. Xx

BergamotMouse · 26/11/2015 08:10

I had cramps last week too JW. And last night my back was hurting around my kidneys (still does a bit).

I'm assuming all these aches and pains are normal and it should only be a worry if they stop you from doing what your doing.

I need to learn to stay away from Dr Google.

I can't seem to stay asleep past 4am. Anyone else waking really early?
