Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
GodRestYeMerryGentELMen · 12/12/2006 22:07

Hi Ladies.... Just a quick post to let you know I go in to be induced tom. morning!! Very scared, not about the labour (though I'm sure that will change!) but about having him so early...

UD, hope you are ok hon.

ELM xx
34 + 4

freedomfighter · 12/12/2006 22:36

hope all goes well god rest...cos new to thread not sure how early you are, but will be thinking of you

trixymalixy · 12/12/2006 23:12

Ooh, good luck ELM!!

Magnolia, ben is so cute!!

Went into the day unit yesterday to have my blood pressure monitored as it had rocketed on Friday. was only there for 10 mins as my bp had gone back down which is a bit of a relief, but means I have to go back to work until the end of next week.

Have got my first stretch marks. I knew I would get them, but always hoped I would get away without geting them. Still slapping on the bio-oil in a vain attempt to minimise them tho .

Galmum · 13/12/2006 08:40

Dear GRYMG! Good luck with induction and baby - thinking of you and little boy. I'm sure they'll really look after you both.

Galmum xxx

lotoffront · 13/12/2006 10:01

Hello all! new to the club and expecting 20th Jan. At my last appointement mw said baby was breech so I've been crawling on all fours with my bum in the air, does anyone have any other advice? Sorry if this has all been discussed, coming to this quite late.

lots of luck to everyone!

Tillypup · 13/12/2006 11:18

Hi, Lottofront

I was told those gym/birthing balls are good for encouraging the baby to face the right way, at my 31 week appointment the midwife said the baby was facing the wrong way around but then at my 34 week appointment he/she/it had managed to get it's head pointing down. I hadn't done anything out of the ordinary though have been using a gym ball once or twice a week at circuit training (and I have one at home, but it's on top of the dresser so not much good!) No crawling around on all fours for me!

I was told by the midwife that they didn't worry too much until 36 weeks anyway.

HTH

lotoffront · 13/12/2006 11:40

Thanks Tillypup - that has helped - we've got a ball which was actually bought for exercise reasns and not pregnancy related things which is incredible. Hopefully things will turn around in a few weeks, I can't get the song 'Turn baby Turn - disc inferno' out of my head! That might help too...
thank you!

laughalot · 13/12/2006 12:55

Elm good luck with the baby im sure everything will be fine with you and your little boy, cant wait to hear all about him.

Any more updates on urbans front last post I read was from her mum fingers crossed she is all ok.

Ellie hope you are ok it is very strange me and you sound so alike my baby is 3/5 engaged ds always throws a strop at the midwifes when he was born he was 7lb 10oz and he is only 2 months older than your dd, im having a girl this time and they say she might be bigger than ds.... lol.

Got 36 week appointment tomorrow hopefully my bp will be ok.

elliepmummy · 13/12/2006 13:18

Laughalot that does seem weird - dd always talks about going to midwife (babydoctor as she calls her) gets all excited in waiting room telling everyone and then goes off into one when we get in there. Currntly she has crashed on my lap as she ws up for a couple of hours last night with her cold going to let her have till 1.30 or she'll never go to bed. Wonder fi we'll end up having these girls on the same day?? Are you getting loads of pressure on your bits and bum as sometimes I am in agony and am convinced she is going to come early, all weird for me as dd was breech so never had any of this!

Welcome to lotoffront I'll update the due in jan list soon and pop you on there. Hope ELM is getting on okay I think she was nealry 35 weeks so hopefully all will go smoothly for her.

elliepmummy · 13/12/2006 13:21

Right updated with newbies and hopefully when ELM makes her birth announcement we'll have two in the BORN section - am very of them at the mo!!!!!

Ellie its very strange because I dident realise she had engaged shes been like this for about 2 weeks, when I had ds he engaged very early and I never seemed to get many pressure pains the only thing I usually feel is like I need a wee I go to the loo and then nothing comes out so I guess she is pushing down but I dont feel it to much however her feet are really digging in my ribs apparently she feels very long but my son was so im not suprised by that. I dont seem to feel braxton hics very often either which I find weird but I think sometimes when we are so busy running round after toddlers you dont feel as much. Are you feeling a little bit anxious and guilty about being pg and having another lo round the house I keep getting really upset because sometimes I lose my patience with ds the he ends up in tears and I just think what the hell am I doing having another one I know its going to be hard as toddlers are demanding as well as newborns I just dont want him to hate me.

elliepmummy · 13/12/2006 14:15

God you could have been me typing that last post, I seem to be so knackered and sometimes poor dd takes the brunt of it. Took her for a hair cut today with the promise that if she was god we could play playdoh and she was so got home got it out and she has been good but got over involved and wet herself and found myself getting really annoyed when it was just an accient. I do wonder somedays how on earth I am going to cope with 2 especially with the terrible twos but Ill cross that bridge in Jan just trying to make the effort to spend lots of time with dd and hoping the new baby will be as good as dd was (she was the perfect baby till 1 year old slept loads, fed 4hourly, slept through around 8 weeks at night and never cried unless she was hungary, dirty etc). Where abouts are you we live in Kent?

elliepmummy · 13/12/2006 14:16

and realy must learn to look at my typing before I post about 10 spelling mistakes there!!

elliepmummy · 13/12/2006 14:17

Even managed to make one in the 2nd post really not realy

2HappyTurtleDoves · 13/12/2006 14:25

ELM - just logged on and saw your message! I guess you won't be MNing today, but in case you have your Mum primed like UD (UD/UD's mum - any update? Hope all ok), thinking of you and got everything crossed for you. Hope you're holding your little boy soon xx
trixy - glad to hear the BP is more settled
Welcome lotoffront, here's a thread on optimal foetal positioning
EPM/laughalot - can sympathise with the coping with toddler thing. d is 18m and I feel so guilty that I can't play with him properly (his current favourite is running round the house playing boo!) and trying not to be short tempered (esp when he goes on another food refusal phase )
Well, my BH's have started. Had been having odd ones here and there, but then all of a sudden last night started getting loads and loads and still getting them. Weirdly, was exactly the same with ds - they just suddenly started one day, and from that day on I just had them all the time. Even had to keep stopping while going round the supermarket today (dh said maybe I should go into labour and see if we got the shop for free ). Talking of which, where on earth do supermarkets stock mincemeat (for mince pies, not beef!)? Looked everywhere in Morrison's and couldn't see it - probably just my preg-head!

coffeebaubles · 13/12/2006 15:14

EPM/LAL - dont be too hard on yourselves. Looking after a little one is hard enough without being pregnant. They wont bear any emotional scars as they wont remember much before 3 trust me. Took DS to Lapland when 3.5 and he barely remember it (good use of money that was, well Grandparents money !)

Worrying about that thread on positioning as I'm always asleep on my back - cant sleep any other way ! Helps me snore louder too !!!

Lizzz, I'm in northumberland, so there are probably more lambs born in this area than babies.

freedomfighter · 13/12/2006 15:30

ellie p... im new and am due 14th january, prob a girl!

freedomfighter · 13/12/2006 15:33

coffeebaubles, i always seem to end up on back too..i try really hard to sleep on side but when i wake up im back on my back!

theUrbanDryadWithSparklyWings · 13/12/2006 15:36

well hiya all! i'm back!! no worse the wear for my night in hospital, except i didn't really sleep and my back hurts even more now, but i shouldn't complain really.

it's not an infection, the MW and dr's don't really seem to know what was causing the contractions (they were getting scarily regular when i was down on the labour ward!) but they've settled down now, so no baby for me just yet. which, despite my whinging about being bored of pregnancy is just as well, i didn't realise all the faff you and the LO had to go through if it's prem. i was reading a leaflet - apparently they take the baby away for TWO HOURS to give it all sorts of antibiotic injections and things...scary stuff. so this little dude can just hang on till after solstice at least!

ELM - have you had it yet? have you had it yet? have you had it yet? have you had it yet? have you had it yet? ermm.....have you? hope you're well hun, we'll be thinking of you over here.

welcome freedomfighter and lottoffront, where are you based? i'm in northampton, got to say after all the horror stories i heard the labour ward and antenatal care is fabbo.

have got my last antenatal class tomorrow, breastfeeding workshop. i told DH and he said "you lot won't be getting your tits out will you?" erm, yes, obviously that's what it'll all be about! then next week there's a tour of the antenatal and labour wards, but i might not bother, as i've seen it all before!

anyway, thanks for all your kind wishes, hope you're all well.....xxx

theUrbanDryadWithSparklyWings · 13/12/2006 15:38

freedomfighter - try wedging yourself on your side with pillows along the edge of the bed and between your legs. there are so many pillows and cushions in our bed there's not much room for DH!

oh yeah, forgot to say, i'm excited cause i'm getting a SHINY NEW PHONE tomorrow. it's red, and it's got a funky camera, and an mp3 player and 1gig of memory. whatever that means.

i know, i know....small things please me, ok??

elliepmummy · 13/12/2006 15:48

Ooops sorry FF added you on now
Glad you are home safe and well UD hang in there for a bit my mw said anything after 36weeks is normally okay and my nephew was born at 36weeks and apart from being diddy (4lb) he was fine kept in normal postnatel ward for 4 days to check he was feeding and have eat treatment for jaundice then him and SIL came home

UD, we had to have a look at a plastic baby and a knitted breast at out breast feeding workshop!

My midwife today reckoned the baby was going to be around an 8lb-er!

LadyTophamHatt · 13/12/2006 16:05

good to have you back UD.

Hope the little one stay cooking inside for a while yet

lotoffront · 13/12/2006 17:46

Hi thanks for the thread on OFP I'll check that out - it's certainly whizzing around a lot, but like it's mam doesn't like to move too far!!
I'm based in Walthamstow, London E17 if anyone's around I'd love to know of a reliable taxi firm -we're quite new to the area and don't have a car and DH can't drive...yet

xx
