I've found the 'amount' they tell you you're engaged varies widly from MW to MW. For 2 visits I was 2/5 then 3/5 and then apparently at the next visit (last week) was not engaged at all - and if anything the baby feels further down to me!

I'm trying to give up obesessing about where they tell me he is and when he'll come (MW said he'd be at least a week early, consultant said to expect same as for dd which was 5 days late) - I'm not succeeding, but I'm trying!

Off to GP in an hour for 39wk check, so fully expecting to hear that I'm either a) in labour already or b) have got another 3 weeks to wait

Sorry - moany post I'm afraid.

Am 37 weeks on Sun and feel so ill (have done for the past week). So many people keep saying it could be pre-labour but I don't want to get my hopes up so thought I would ask your opinions.

Feel really pre-menstrual, nauseous, bowel cramps (like diahorrea but not getting any), generally feel really really teary, getting loads of BHs and twinges.

I know that no one can say for definate but I just didn't expect to feel this way at this point. I feel like I am living on tenterhooks wondering whether anything will happen.

MW said on Weds I was 1/5 engaged (well, 4/5 in relation to brim which amounts to same ting) so could I go into labour or is baby still to high????

Woke up suddenly last night at 1am feeling REALLY sick so got out of bed and paced in the bathroom for 10 mins, took some Rennies and it went away. Really annoyed with DH though as at night, he is totally disinterested and just sleeps through everything - he has done this on a couple of occasions when, TBH, I could have done with him awake with me.

Sorry to moan.

Itsazoohere - I know exactly what you mean about being overwhelmed by the thought of a tiny baby in the house again......this is my 3rd too and my other 2 are 15 and 13 now

I'm ashamed to say I can barely remember them being tiny babies...

Had the worst night's sleep ever last night. I'm fed up and want the baby here now. My bag's packed, my birth plan's done, the camera's charged...all I need is a baby now!

Hello to everyone else, LTH if you're still around I hope you're feeling a bit better now?

Loubie xx

Back from my fetal assesment check had a lovely lady there I was her only appt this morning so she did a 20 minute scan bloods monitoring, bp etc was there for 2 hours. Aparentl only high rosk patients are sent there (I was there because of bleeds) so they make you feel very special which is a change from all the other nhs staff I've dealt with.

Baby is now 6lb 6oz acording to growth scan so consultant happy as he wanted her over 6lb, shes a little on the small side length wise but I'm onl 5ft and dh 5"5 so hardly going to be a giant. But one thing really surprised me was that apparently this baby has tons of hair sonographer showed me on the scan and you could see it waving about in the fluid will be strange as dd1 was almost bald! Going back on weds at 10.30 for final checks and pre op stuff and then got to be at 7am next friday for section in the morning so in theory this time next week she'll be here (100% girl as we had another look today!) so Dragonhart all goes well we will be section budys!!

Sorry to hear so many of you feeling fed up hopefully after new year all these babies will get a move on and we can start a postnatel club!!!!!! Right off to see my mum and dad for a bit so bye for now x

tinselly rhino - so pleased I am not the only one with morning sickness. Some kind of awful joke is being played. I am far to pregnant to be managing to bend over the toilet. Thought I was totally over that bit. I feel crap. The last 9 months have been the worst of my life. Can't believe I'm going to be 39 wks on Sunday. DP's sister went 44 wks with her first. Can you imagine!!!!???

Dragon - re old bra's: It depends what state they are in. If they still give you plenty of support then fine, use them still. But if your tits are hanging round your knees in them, spend the money on new ones! Most bra fitters will be honest enough with you to tell you if you need new ones or not. The bra's life can be prolonged by handwashing (as if!) and if you were careful with them 1st time round they may still fit securly on the LOOSEST notch. If they are baggy round the back on the tighest notch, buy new ones.

I live opposite this shop. They are currently having a closing down sale (due to overpriced maternity clothes!) but they have nursing bras reduced - maybe useful if you havea rough idea of your size.

I'm off to puke up my lunch now. Nice.

Doh - just checked link, it doesnt look like you can buy online. But you maybe able to call and buy over the phone. If you decide to make a visit down to the shop (you may have more energy than me!) do call before you come, as they seem to only be open on satrdays at the moment.

Hope this helps.

hi all - well, no baby here still! wish it would hurry the funk up. i thought 4/5ths engaged meant the "stations" that MW's measure pre-labour by? i tried to look it up in Miriam when i got home and that was the closest i got. should've asked the MW really, shouldn't i?

i made a playlist for my iPod nano yesterday, then realised that whiny, self-indulgent teeny angst music like the Smiths and Joy Division (and, yes i'm ashamed to admit it, Coldplay) probably wasn't the best music to welcome LO into the world with. i mean, i love British Sea Power, but the lyric "now you have drunk all your beer/go drown your empty selves" or Joy Division's relentlessly cheerful "a loaded gun won't set you free...so you say" probably isn't going to inspire me to push! just realising i have very little cheerful music on my hard drive!! so i made a sort of techno/EBM playlist, which baby seems to like and dance to. hopefully, he'll dance right out of me!!!

LTH - please don't go! i don't care if you whinge on for ages! i know it's not nice to hear yourself banging on, but perhaps if you do it more, you'll hate it so much you'll stop!

i'm sure that the last few weeks of pregnancy are meant to make you look forward to childbirth. i've had it fairly easy up till now i reckon but it's starting to get a bit difficult now. i woke up in the night a while ago and was convinced my waters had broken, but i think it was just sweat.

oh well, good luck to those of you booked in with c-sections, and congrats to oonagh and coffeebaubles. and to the rest of us - keep drinking that raspberry leaf tea and massaging those perineums (yeah right!) and before you know it, we'll have little bundles of joy of our own. xxx

I think the confusing thing here is that there are two ways to measure - there's engagement where, for example, the head is 3/5 engaged means 3/5 of the head is in the pelvis and only 2/5 in the tummy. But there's also palpable where, for example 3/5 palp means you can feel 3/5 in the tummy so only 2/5 is engaged. Make sense?!
Wilkie - had very similar two nights ago, spent ages cradling the toilet thinking I was going to hurl, and had diarrhoea (TMI!), but it has passed off again - I was kind of hoping this was the sickness and diarrhoea people talk about before going into labour, but it would appear not (was presumably too much trifle!). Hope you're feeling better, or if not that you go into labour soon!!
Lizzz - 44 weeks?!! Rather her than me!!
EPM - glad the appointment went well
Still haven't packed my hospital bag. Blooming hopeless

I obviously can't stay away from MN altogether so there nop point in staying away from our rthread isn there?

I'm not going to moan on here there.

I start new threads instead

I've posted apicture of my bump in memebr profiles if anyone wants the chin to hit the floor. An old friend wanted to see me PG again before I have the baby but as we live at opposite ends off the south coast it's abit difficult to pop over for a cuppa so I got Ds1 to take a photo of me this morning.
Even I was shocked at the sight!

LTH - glad to see you back. Typed a lengthy reply to your thread yesterday, discussing 'THE FEAR' that I too have but then, like you, couldn't bear to read it so deleted it. Was thinking about you though - maybe they could find a giant looney bin and chuck us in together?!?!?

2Happy - glad to hear I'm not the only one (sorry - that sounds really selfish). I too keep hoping it is pre-labour but I think it is just LO kicking my stomach and intestines and making them gripey . Hate feeling so queasy though!!!!!!!

Oh God, Wilkie, there's almost nothing I hate more in the world than that sweaty clammy feeling when you know if you move you'll hurl, but if you don't get out of bed now chances are you'll upchuck all over the bed. It's all very well if it's self inflicted by drinking too much..... though I guess this is self inflicted too in a way!
LTH - was just looking at your pic! Wow. Well you did say you were all bump - be fair though, there's not much else on you .

2Happy - that is exactly how I felt last night. Woke up at 12.30am with a jolt feeling hot, clammy and really really sick. Leapt (Ok, lets be realistic, I rolled in an exceptionally undignified manner), grabbed my Rennies off the floor, guzzled 3 quickly, rushed to the bathroom (DH didn't stir!!!!!), stood over loo contemplating a hurl or a poo (sorry if TMI!!!!!), then decided to go downstairs to grab a drink to sip, made it half way down the stairs before deciding I needed to hurl so had to do a mental calcuation of whether to go back up to bathroom was quicker or carry on down to kitchen sink, got to kitchen sink, retched but nothing came up, made a drink, sipped it whilst pacing the floor for 10 minutes and then miraculously the sick feeling disappeared so I went back up to bed. I then laid there and convinced myself it was food poisoning, listeria, toxoplasmosis....you name it...... I'm GREAT to live with!!!!!!!

Now..if that not TMI I don't know what is!!

Hattie - Raspberry leaf tea I have put in a couple of links re raspberry leaf tea. I'm going to start with 1 cup a day for week 1 (from 36 weeks) to see how it goes. It's good to see that even though the study is limited - there is no evidence that it brings labour on early or harms the baby in any way. One site meintions that if you have very tight abdominal muscles or already experiencing frequent braxton hicks then don't take it.

www.babycentre.co.uk/miscellaneous/referencedarticles/raspberryleaftea/

www.pregnancy.com.au/raspberry_leaf.htm

www.haelan.co.uk/Remedies-Pregnancy.shtml

I did use it last time and my waters broke at 39+2 with meconium in them. I had to go straight to hospital to be checked out (baby fine) but then under protocol and time frame. I don't think the raspberry leaf tea was a factor. More likely the long day in Ikea and the fact my husband had been made redundant the week before!!! Being heavily pregnant I had not been very chilled as usual, but had cried hysterically when he told me. It all worked out for the best though!

Lady Topham Hat That is one beautiful bump - I want to say it does n't look that big but let's face it - it is!! My bump has a little way to go on yours, but it is in the same ball park. It's large. Meant to be having another growth scan at 36+5 which seems very early to me. Maybe posting and ranting on that one soon. I'm on a rollercoaster of feeling very positive and calm one day and sh*tting myself the next. I hope you're feeling better about it all now. Sending hugs and positive vibes.
PS When they told me at the last scan that the estimated weight was 8lbs at 34+4 weeks - I just wanted to to down a bottle of wine. I freaked out totally that night!!

Am having my first ever cup of raspberry leaf tea at the moment (btw - on special at Holland & Barratt - 20p off at the moment) Baby has started moving tons suddenly...could it be a sign it doesnt like it? Or maybe its the chocolate I've just scoffed. Its the only thing I'm eating at the moment, anything remotely chocolatey seems to stay down!

Have decided though, if this morning sickness, nausea and heartburn continues for the next 2 weeks, then at least there will be not alot to poo out in front of everyone during labour!

This is the bit I am seriously worried about. One girl I know shat herself with every contraction. THE SHAME! (was that TMI???!)

Good name ideas for the new thread 2Happy.
I like the "loose a stone in a day" or the "ready to do drugs one".

Yeah I like the ready to do drugs one.
My sister pooed herself in labour 2 days ago and we joked about her having twins. I know God will punish me for laughing by making sure I do the same!
Is it ok to express milk before the baby's born? I have been leaking for about 3 weeks now (36wks today) and there is more and more coming out. Boobs really hurt and feel I just want to get a breast pump out to relieve it!
I like the ready to do drugs thread title btw
