thnx urban n thnx ellie p - it seems more real now its written down! ...am near leeds, wheres evryone else based? i cant work out if ive got braxton hicks or baby moving or something weirds going on - i constantly (rather than 1-2 per hour!) feel want to go to the toilet and its really uncomfortable low down - is this normal?

Loubie37 · 13/12/2006 18:33

Jeez you lot can talk!!!! Hello to the newbies (I've just finished reading the last 2-3 days post and have already forgotten your names!) Good luck ELM (although you won't see this now until after your baby is born....I'm very jealous, we're due on the same date!) Glad everything is OK with you UDWSW - I was wondering if there'd be a birth announcement from you when I logged on today!

Hello to everyone else, sorry for no more personals but I'm too whacked, only 4 days left at work TG

wilkie50 · 13/12/2006 18:45

Howdy - that was rather hectic trying to catch up on the chat

ELM - so scary that you are having your little one tomorrow as you are only a day later than me! Mut be some history but how come you are having yours early (if ELM not around can someone else fill in?)

Loubie - so jealous you finish work in four more days . I finish work on 5th Jan but am working the last 4 days from home so only 10 more days on the premises. Absolutely hating it at the mo.

I'm in Lincolnshire if anyone else nearby?

Got thrush again so dr has given me one more pessary to try and shift it. Hate it. Will it afect the labour if I still have it then? Can it harm the baby?

theUrbanDryadWithSparklyWings · 13/12/2006 18:59

wilkie- whereabouts in lincs do you live? i used to kive near spalding...

theUrbanDryadWithSparklyWings · 13/12/2006 19:00

Loubie37 · 13/12/2006 19:03

Wilkie50 - I'm in Lincolnshire too! We live in Grimsby, how about you?

Loubie xx

laughalot · 13/12/2006 19:14

Ellie I live in robin hood country about 10 min from sherwood forest in notts. Ud glad you are back and what a fab mum you have.

RGee · 13/12/2006 19:26

Wow! Been running all sorts of errands the last couple of days (I am loving this maternity leave, but lol to those of you who are having to run around after toddlers - it must be so hard), and return here to LOADS of messages! Nice to be on a thread with lots of chatty people (and serves me right for not staying at home with my feet up!).
Good luck ELM!!
FF - welcome to the thread - I'm pretty new here and I live in north Leeds.
I'm due on 5th Jan with first baby.

OonaghBhuna · 13/12/2006 20:09

Welcome back UD, I am sure you are relieved to be out of hospital and that you are both well.
As I am moving into the last few weeks my hormones are all over the place. My DD is loving me being off work and its great to be spending time with her although I get quite emotional when I think about how her life is going to change. i know that in the long term she will love having the company of a little sister but she has been our one and only for 19 months, we dote over her. I cant imagine loving another baby as much as I love her although I know I will and do I am loving being off work aswell, Im not as worn out.

wilkie50 · 13/12/2006 20:09

Ooooo Loubie - I'm a Grimsby girl too originally, moved about 2 years ago but mum and dad still there - how old are you? I'm 25. We're due same day too methinks (21/01/07)

Hi UD - glad to have you back safe and sound. I live in Lincoln now.

elliepmummy · 13/12/2006 20:18

Rgee promise to update the list with your details tomorrow/friday, its strange on this thread it either goes mad for a couple of days where there are loads of posts or it'll be realy quiet. Don't know if you are planning any more babies in your house but I am very glad to say this is well and truly my last as I couldnt cope with doing this again with more than one child. LTH and podmog(think it was you podmog also on number 4?) I take my hat of to you having number 4 you must have the patience of a saint not be telling us something????

Laughalot shame you are so far away or your DS and my DD could have had tantrums and negletful mummys together

Wilko - ELM's waters broke ages ago think it was6/7 weeks and she had to keep going back to hospital to check for infections etc so thas probably why she habeen induced early (please correct me if I am wrong)

Right had a busy night sorting bits and bobs out that have been meaning to do for ages (putting the cotton back into sewing box, tidying up all teh xmas paper/sellotape as all wrapped/hanging up xmas cards etc etc) so going to have a nice long bath (and probably clean the bathroom as DH been up there!) and head off for an early night and hope DD sleeps tonight. 23 days to go to section date think I may revert o hours soon

Loubie37 · 13/12/2006 20:33

Wilko - what a coincidence!! I'm a bit older than you (a bit being an understatement!) I'm 38

We're coming to Lincoln as it happens on Saturday - we're GTFC supporters, so it's a local derby for us It will be my last away game for quite a while, in fact I don't think I'll be going to any home games after the game on New Year's Day, it's getting too cold and uncomfortable to sit there now!

I'm due the day before you - 20/1 but praying baby comes a bit early, the beginning of Jan would be very nice if you're listening Santa ;)

Loubie xx

wilkie50 · 13/12/2006 20:38

Loubie - daft really but it's quite nice that you are older than me so chances are we don't know each other. I know it's daft but I like the anonymity of this site (IYKWIM) where I can talk about thrush and the like (LOL) without worrying who's reading

I know what you mean about wanting little one to arrive early. I can't wait for mine to come - it is wriggling around something chronic tonight and sometimes is bloody painful when this little foot sticks out the side, then a bum pops up in the middle. DH and I just watch and laugh

Loubie37 · 14/12/2006 07:42

I know what you mean - I would die if I thought anyone I knew read the stuff I write on these baby forums....especially the in laws!!

HAd yet another nights sleep - went to bed at 8:30pm I was so tired I just couldn't stay awake any longer, but by 1:30am I'd been up 4 times, twice for a wee, once for a glass of milk (bloody heartburn) and once for paracetamol (I keep getting a dead arm in the night I must be sleeping on it funny?)

So I'm NOT looking forward to going to work, I'm like a zombie Hey ho, only 4 days left I really wish now I'd started my Mat Leave 6 weeks before, I'd be a lady of leisure by now

Have a good day everyone, thinking of you ELM (you lucky lady!)

Loubie xx

pitstop · 14/12/2006 11:56

Loubie,
You're not the only older one, I'm 38 too!! I finish work on Saturday and I can't wait!! I've lost interest completely, but I'm slightly worried i'll become addicted to day time TV!

Maybe the baby will be early, in which case I'm totally unprepaired!

Hope everyone's well
Pen xx

Lizzz · 14/12/2006 12:14

Just had 36 wk check up with mw. She has told me the baby's head is 3/5 engaged!!! OMG! No wonder I cant stop weeing all the time.
I dont understand how up until last Friday when I was still working I had loads of energy, then started maternity leave on monday, totally over did it on monday and tuesday and had to stay in bed all day yesterday.
I'm supposed to be meeting some mate up in London for dinner tonight, but I'm knackered! This is so annoying. I have lots I want to do but all I really want to do is sleep.
I have my breast feeding class tomorrow, do you really have to get your boobs out? Good job I have my nursing bras sorted...34J bring it on!!!

coffeebaubles · 14/12/2006 12:44

Hi Lizz, as our resident bra lady (unless my mind has completely vanished ) when would you advise getting fitted for a maternity bra ?

PS 34J - respect ! I've gone from 34C to 34DD and quite chuffed with that

Shimmer · 14/12/2006 15:04

Wow it's just taken me about an hour to catch up with you lot! Luckily today is my 2nd last day of work and I have completely lost interest and so don't feel guilty at all about fiddling round on the net and not getting a lot done. Actually I've been quite productive so far this afternoon; I've just ordered a Xmas pressie for my brother and booked my TENS machine - from www.mama-tens.info Did have a quick read through about the differences bewteen all the different TENS machines from different places, but then just rather randomly plumped for this one in the end!

lotoffront - I'm in london too and also don't have a car. Have you thought about how you're going to get into hospital when the time comes? The one I'm going to is really close by, only about 7 minutues walk from home, so I'm convinced that I want to just walk into hospital! My mum has said this is a ridiculous idea though, and since I've never had a baby and she's had 3 I 'spose I should listen to her?!? What do those of you who've been through this before think?? M/W said you're meant to go into hospital when contractions are about 5 mins apart...How mobile are you at this stage??

Can't believe it's less than 4 weeks til D-Day! Can't wait to see who of all you girls(after ELM obviously!!) is next. Feeling quite emotional atm though and the pic of Benjamin, Magnolia's little one, very nearly made me cry, so if you all go before me I think I'll be in tears almost constantly for the next month!

elliepmummy · 14/12/2006 15:28

It does seem scarily soon now doesnt it, I have so much pressure on my bits its killing me so am wondering if the baby has engaged further since tuesday (she was 3/5ths then!!) just know itll happen saturday when dh, parents and inlaws all out but have back up plans and if its meant to be so be it.

My last day at work tomorrow so looking forward to my mysterious gifts, I'll update you on them. 22 days till section date so thats a maximum time of 528hours till shes here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lotoffront · 14/12/2006 17:08

Hi Shimmer, have been discussing taxi option with a few people (I was laughed out of the room when suggested walking! - it's my first baby too), various hints:
Call the hospital and ask them if they know of a reliable firm.
Our NCT teacher said not to tell the taxi firm you're in labour and have two towels to sit on and a maternity pad in.
Ambulance is a 'contractions 5 minute apart' option or you might wait 2 hours for one.
We're going to try the taxis and I'm going to call the hospital tomorrow to see if they can recommend anyone.
Which hospital are you going to?

xx

freedomfighter · 14/12/2006 17:10

i had my 36 week check today and i envy you lizzz cos my baby's head is free as a bird and nowhere near engaged...i was rather hoping it would be and had been convinced was engaged given amount of toilet trips etc! my next check is 28th december and when midwife said happy xmas i looked at her cos i couldn't believe xmas is nearly here which means that its not that long to baby coming for sure - scarey stuff im in a bit of denial!

RGee · 14/12/2006 17:16

Hello all!
EPM you scared me with your hours countdown as I'm due on the 5th too! I have proper waddle due to 'downstairs' pressure that gets worse each day.
Shimmer - I can empathise with your emotional feelings. Please can someone explain to me why I seem addicted to watching a multitude of birth stories on the Discovery Health channel, and then wonder why I'm a weeping gibbering mess at the end of each programme?
Have a good last day at work tomorrow to those of you who are finishing.

Tillypup · 14/12/2006 18:10

aaaargh, DP has broken his arm! the idiot decided to "help out" playing rugby for a vets team against our local side last night and did it tackling his boss! tosser!

Daisypops · 14/12/2006 19:53

Lizzz, I had 36 week check up today and our bubs head is 3/5 engaged too.

Asked MW to estimate the weight and she said about 6 and a half pounds at the moment, but obviously its a rough guess

Going for fish and chips next Thursday with work for my leaving lunch! Not very glam but sooo looking forward to it. Was asked what prezzy I want but have asked for the cash so I can choose my own.

Hope ELM is ok.

Shimmer-I know how your feeling, last night I cried at the Robert Winston program, have cried 3 weeks in a row at it now!

Tilly-soz to hear about your DP. Men eh?!

wilkie50 · 14/12/2006 20:44

Arghhh - am so jealous of those of you finishing work tomorrow .

Shimmer - have same issue - cry at anything and everything. Just can't help it!

'The Fear' is starting to set in now - just can't imagine what the labour will be like, can't imagine myself holding my precious child at the end of it, keep thinking about things going wrong...generally I am a little bundle of fun Can't believe I am 35 weeks on Sun.
