OK, so I'm PG with No 4 and I learnt something yesterday that I sooooooooooo wish I knew the fisrt time.

So to all you 1st time mums-to-be here is avery very good lesson for you.

Go out tomorrow and buy some great big maternity knickers...the ones that go over the bump.

OH...MY......GOD they are so comfortable it's just untrue.
If you can, buy some that are much much to big too. Then they'll reach right up and over your belly which stops the bottom of your belly being exposed to the elements.
GOd...honestly I really wish i'd worn them before.
I've just suffered with normal knickers bought a few sizes bigger which end up rolling down and digging in and generally being really bloody annoying.

BIG PANTS ARE THE WAY TO GO!!!

(LOLOLOL these are soooo big that they almost reach my boobs!!!)

LTH, I like big pants aswell!!! It wont be long now until we can look forward to lovely non maternity underwear and clothes!!!!Although I have to admit I do love comfy pants at the best of time. I know they arent very sexy but sometimes comfort has to come first. After having DD it was rather a long time before I felt sexy.....
Well I am exhausted, my Bp is dropping weekly, should I be worried? It is very low for me. I got my hair cut yesterday which lifted my spirits as my DH, DD have all had a bad week.

Report
LadyTophamHatt · 08/12/2006 20:25

MY BP has been really lower during previous PGs, the lowest reading was 76/41

I think they aren't worried especially, just as long as you're not have fainted spells etc which I never did/do.

Report
OonaghBhuna · 08/12/2006 20:34

I am being monitored weekly as I have been dizzy and very nearly fainted a few weeks ago.Its just a precaution though they dont seem worried by it. The bump is huge and I am suspecting another large baby so its no wonder really I suppose I am just very aware of everything at the minute especially when I experience BH!!!

Who sells these big bucket knickers then? Mothercare?! I luv belly warmers, would wear them after aswell if DP would allow it!

Trixy, I do get sick pay for the odd days I'm having, but if I get signed off now my maternity leave will start and I'm getting full pay right til the 7 Jan so need to stick it out really. Only 7 working days left though. Slept a little better last night and had a 3 hour nap today

I know its been asked loads but can anyone post a link about what to pack in your hospital bag. I've started it but not sure what else I'll need. x

elliepmummy · 09/12/2006 07:20

I got my huge knickers in Tesc think they were £2.50 for 4 pairs so got few packs so I can throw them if I want (although still occasionally wear the pairs I have from having DD as they are comf and avoids DH coming near me.

Had a few more panicky moments this week Thursday afternoon was having either contrations or strong BH every 12mins and loads of pressure on my bits and in my bum, panicked a bot as just me and DD at home so phonemy mum at work and she said call midwife, well mw onannual leave so phoned community mw office at hosp and she said could be early labour or baby engaging further had to sit down for 2 hours and monitor what was happening (dd got to watch DVDs so she was very )after 2.5 hours they subsided to being pains every 30-40 mins and overnight went but last night around 8 the pains and pressure got so bad I was on all fours crying dh phoned hospital and they said monitor again and again after couple hours they subsided so not sure what thats all about. But what really pis**d me off was dh had got beer and wine in fridge from when I went shopping and I said to him don't drink to much in case we need to go to hosp came downstairs at 1 and he was pis%%ed had druk the bottle of wine and about 6 cans of beer and because I hadnt cooked dinner he hadnt eaten he then was stumbling around talking crap so shoved him upstairs in dd bed and she came in with me. It really gets on my nerves he doesnt seem to realise that he may need to drive at any time in the next few weeks I am so angry its unbelievable and been up with dd since 6.15 whilst he is still in bed. He has got his work xmas do next sat and am seriously wondering if he'll even make it home and then he'd be in no fit state and the same will go over xmas period.

Given up trying to talk to him the next day as get all the promises & then it happens again so decided to email my MIL and ask if FIL can have a chat with him as had to do this a few years ago when he was working shifts and drinking in the afternoons and it worked and if I mention it to my parents my dad will flip and just end up having a shouting match with him which won't resolve anything. Sorry about long post needed to rant!!

Ohhh ellie, that would piss me off too. My Dh would have been lucky to get a bad at all...any bed!!
I would ahve mad him slepp in the freezing col conservatory!!

Funnily enough my DH has a xmas do tomorrow. Starts at 1pm and finishes at closing time!!!
Errrrr...well...not for him it doesn't!
I told him that if he comes home pissed I'm going to dead bolt the door.
He said he'll come home at about 7pm but I gaurantee 'll still be waiting for in at 9pm.

Why don't they realise that thi sgreat bump hige belly we're struggling to live with ATM contains a baby that could decide to appear at any stage now.

If he gets too pissed I'll get my revenge when in labour I think. My finger nails are growing at a ridiculous rate ATM so I won't cut them for while and I'll then grab him by the nuts and say through gritted teeth "I told you not to get pissed"
hehehehhahahahahaha
I'll then demand he lets me use the one boys name I've liked from the start by way of an apology

LTH Didnt really think about the timing of this baby till the last few weeks, agree that he seems to think that this baby will not arrive before my section date and that I won't need any rest as I'm only preganant and look after DD why would I want a lay in???? Emailed MIl she'll log on later this morning so hoping she can offer some help. Decided I am going to let him sleep and then ensure he spends the rest of the day being reminded about it and generally being the moody cow I seem to be these days

DD got a party at soft play thing at lunch time and he can come and run around with her as I am not, am going to go and sit down and talk to my friends whilst he looks after her hmm see how he likes it!

Bloody men, bloody xmas, bloody pregnancy !!!!!!!!!!

Oh what a PITA EPM. Not only are you pg and knackered, but you've been in pain bad enough to make you cry, and he's busy getting drunk!! dh is normally well behaved I must say, but last time we went to a friend of his's wedding on my due date. He promised he wouldn't drink much, and while he drank less than he might have done he would still have been incapable of driving, or being any use in the delivery at all. (Not that it made any difference, ceilidhed as hard as I could and still couldn't shift ds!) Irritatingly, there's another flipping wedding a week before my due date this time, he had the cheek to say "oh we'll just beg a bed at so-and-so's". I said, at 39 weeks pg and with you p*ssed off your head and incapable, there's only one place I'm staying and that's a bloody hotel! Don't think he's booked it yet, though

Report
elliepmummy · 09/12/2006 09:18

2Happy sounds like most DH are the same doesnt it I'd book the hotel myself as wouldnt trust him t do it before it was fully booked.

Sometimes I wish I could have a non drinking hates football/sports husband but suppose it wouldnt be him and I knew what he was like before I married him (just had a small hope he may grow up bu seems to be regressing in age he he!!) anyway he is now up obviously feels really rough but won't admit it so told DD that daddy wanted to play wrestling so shes jumping all over him at the mo and he knows better than to complain, meanwhile think I am going ot go and have a nap as knackered.

Don't get me started on DH drinking at the moment!! Mine had his xmas do on thursday, no idea what time he got home (amazing he didn't wake me up) but he didn't make it upstairs and so slept slumped over the kitchen table. I noticed the kitchen light was on so sent DD downstairs at 7am to wake him up - in the way only an over excited 3 year old can .

I then had to go out all day to a funeral so he was left to entertain dd all day with a hangover - did I feel any sympathy for him? What do you think??

I appologise for gatecrashing your thread, and I realsie you havn't had your babies yet but, I urge you all to look at this article about the risk of cot death in car seats for young babies.

Having seen my baby go blue in a car seat (she was awake at the time, and is fine now) I urge you all to use car seats for their purpose - safely restraining your baby in the car. A travel system may be convenient and it may mean your baby can see you in their pushchair, but it is nowhere near as safe for them as laying them flat in a pram or pushchair. Please think about if you use your travel system on each occasion and I don't deny they can be very useful at times.

I am sorry if it sounds like I am shouting but seeing a baby go blue is scary. There is another thread which also has some other comments on .

Thanks - have seen article. I think I'll get a neck support this time if that helps. It's another thing to be really careful about, however somehow us Mums have to be careful without turning into paranoid nutters.

Was never that keen on keeping ds in car seat too long anyway...lady selling us the travel system which had a carrycot, buggy & carseat, said they should n't be in car seat for long periods, as it's not good for their backs - I think she quoted us 2 hours max at one time even on long car journeys and this was 4 years ago.

Just to lighten the mood - I adore my BIG GIANT knickers !! I buy the ones from Mothercare with back support in them - they are expensive at around £6-8 a pair BUT I could n't live without them - they nearly reach my bra!

When I was expecting DD the physio who attended our parentcraft classes warned us about the car seats and that children our spending far too long in them as they can be lifted out of the car when they are asleep and essentially sometimes babies were spending hours every day in them. She didnt mention the risk with the breathing but she was concerned about the damage to the spine. Also she was adamant at the danger of those baby walky things aswell, they are banned in the US. I also noticed this summer probably because my DD had just started walking that those toddler trike things that parents can hold on to could hinder the toddlers walking development as every toddlerI saw was just sitting on it being pushed by the parent. Gosh theres so much to think about

Thanks for the article SMS. I made sure I got a travel system with a carrycot as I don't like to see bubs all scrunched up.

Well this morning ladies, I got an effin speeding fine in the post. All I need eh? That'll be 6 points I got now. All my own fault I know but it annoys me when I see people doing 60mph in 30 zones and I was doing 39mph. Car insurance is due in January aswell so I've been stressing about money today. Think Daisy needs to get things in perspective. Give me a boot up the ass ladies!!!

I also can't stop eating, already put over 3 stone on. This morning DP had TWO...yes TWO bacon and egg buttys and the eggs were runny, I was drooling I can tell ya, it was torture. Think I'll ask for prawns, pate and a runny boiled egg when I get home from hospital!

My DP was also drunk last night, said he would be staying at his anuties but rolled up at mine at 2.30am totally plastered. Like my sleep isn't disturbed enough. Was awake til 4.30am after that!

Hello ladies

Just been reading all messages. Travel system comments interesting - I decided against travel system as I don't think baby's look comfortable scrunched up in car seats - have opted for Silver Cross 3D Pram system - it's fab, converts from flat laying pram to buggy with four back rest settings. There's so much choice though - worried about makng the wrong decision.

Had a sh*t day, hardly slept (yet again) and then my DH failed his VERY IMPORTANT exams so will have to resit in March. So hard cos I wanted to be supportive but couldn't stop crying! Bless him, he must have felt awful.

Hey ho. What are your thoughts on the following boyrs names: Jacob, Oscar and Roan. Don't know what we are having but finding boys names very difficult to pick.

xx

Oh, have bought a travel system with carseat that can clip in!!

Thanks for the info, will be very careful not to let LO stay in it too long!

daisypops, am drooling at the thought of runny egg and bacon butties! Will add them to my list of things I MUST be provided with on return from hospital.

Wilkie, that's a shame about your DH's exams. can empathise having failed a few very important exams in my time.

Like the name Jacob as well.

Trixy, some of DP's egg dripped on to his coat and I nearly had to lick it off I was that desperate for some! My mouth is watering just thinking about them!

I sympathise re exams too, DP couldn't attend my 21 week scan becuase he had an exam and he flippin well failed it. So not only did he miss seeing our bub but he failed his exam and was fed up. I wanted to go find the examiner and smack him!

Thanks girls - sorry to moan. Just feel really down tonight. SH passing his exams would have meant that he could have found a better job with much much higher pay - we were planning on moving city but obviously that will now have to wait a bit until he resits and (hopefully) passes.

Daisypops - don't you just hate speeding tickets - should be catching real criminals not using motorists as a cash cow!!!

FOOD: Just thinking about about runny fried eggs - I can't wait to have one on top of my bacon buttie, want a prawn cocktail too and mussels

Just watching Interview with the Vampire on Sky, how bizarre is this film??????

Read through the posts quickly as we have MIL and FIL staying for a week so not much time for sitting on MN .

Love the title 2 happy!
Sorry to hear aobut all the aches and pains and probs with GTTs and DH/DP hope you are all well.

Very scary report on car seats though, thanks for putting the link on Slightlymadsanta as had not seen it. Makes me feel abit better about not having a car in all this bad weather so new baby wont be in it all the time.

Bought a lovely new pushchair, cost loads but nan is paying and she insisted! It is a tandem where you can have a carrycot, seats facing both ways then turns into a single with a built in buggy board when DS gets older. Took a bit of a risk thoug and bought it off the internet without trying it as it seemed sooo perfect, so fingers crossed for me!!

Hope everyone is ok, sorry if missed anyone but rushing to post.

Wilkie, MN is great for having a moan. Reading other peoples makes me feel better sometimes

Speeding ticket is a pain in the bum. Cried when I opened it. Started stressing about moving house too. I don't live with DP at the mo but we're both selling up after bub is born and buying somewhere together, started worrying about that today as we need to do it b4 I'm due back at work so I don't have to go back!

Dh-hope your pram it what you expect, sounds like a snazzy one. Good 'ol Gran!

Mmm, all this talk of prawns and eggs is making me hungry. Will defo be asking DP to arrange me a feast for when I get home from hospital.
