maud that's not fair for them to react like that! Are they just trying to protect themselves from getting excited?
I found this an interesting read ...
m.huffpost.com/us/entry/8275144
...and use it to justify my reasons for telling so many people Grin! Have told parents, siblings, best friends (who have each told their mums Shock) and some work colleagues!

MaudGonneMad · 27/10/2015 20:40

Wish I hadn't said anything now. I won't see my family after this till 15 weeks (we live abroad) - thought it would be a nice thing to share in person rather than over the phone.

Haven't seen my DH in 10 days, and won't see him till Thursday (he works away during the week).

Really struggling this evening. V tearful. Is this normal, hormones or something?

nehagarg · 27/10/2015 20:49

Good article Sliceoflemon. I have told a few people too. Both sets of parents, my best friend and a couple of work colleagues.

I found their support invaluable when I was going through the pain and grief of a missed miscarriage earlier this year and hated that I didnt know how common miscarriages were. Only after i revealed I'd had a miscarriage, did friends and family come forward and tell me they had had one too. I was like Shock!! Where were they when I was flying around without a single worry because I thought no one I knew had had one so surely its not that common. Sheesh!

On the plus side. Have a scan booked tomorrow. I am, of course, terrified. Cant wait.

nehagarg · 27/10/2015 20:51

Oh no Maud. Hopefully you'll feel better soon. Its perfectly normal to be teary. I alternate between happy, paranoid, teary and irritated 20 times a day. Its the hormones.

nehagarg · 27/10/2015 20:52

Do you have a friend or neghbour you can go see for a few hours? Sometimes a change of scenery helps.

Lovelybeano · 27/10/2015 20:55

I have days where I'm highly emotion maud sending some cyber cuddles your way xxxxxxx

Can I have anything decongestant wise eg eucalyptus oil or Vicks? I've come down with a terrible cold today, I have a full head cold coming but I really don't want it to sit on my chest or my asthma will flair up :( usually I steam lots and use both Vicks, olbas oil and decongestant tablets just to stop it settling on my chest otherwise it ends up with a course of steroids xx

MaudGonneMad · 27/10/2015 20:58

Thanks nehagarg. Don't really have anyone to go and see at the drop of a hat. Due to phone a friend at 9.30, so I will try to cheer up before then.

MaudGonneMad · 27/10/2015 20:58

Thanks lovelybeano

PrincessPunzie · 27/10/2015 21:23

Maud I cried just at the thought of my husband going away on business today so don't worry, completely normal! I blub at just about anything right now.

I've been wondering about Vicks beano - everything else I've Googled for my cold (Sudafed, Anadin) has come bank with a no and paracetamol is just not cutting it! Hoping to sleep for a week when it finally pisses off.

JoMalones · 28/10/2015 00:09

I love being pregnant but these mood swings are driving me bonkers! I turn into a vile witch over nothing! My poor OH is being amazing but I can't stand it!

mrslewis2015 · 28/10/2015 07:21

Oh maud I'm sorry that they didn't take it well, I hope your doing ok. Thanks

I've also got a horrible sinus thing, thought it was an ear infection but the doctor thinks it's just inflamed glands/sinus, so so painful, especially when I swallow, which is all the time because of all the saliva! I've been trying to avoid paracetamol, but think I'm going to have to give in, just too horrible. :(

Hot lemon and honey really worked yesterday so might be a try for others?

Lovelybeano · 28/10/2015 07:22

princess I didn't put any on just in case, when you google about Vicks some sites say yes and others say no lol I'm in town today, I'm taking ds to see tree fu Tom at the theatre so if I have enough parking time left I may nip into boots and ask the pharmacist for advice, I'll keep you posted xx

Lovelybeano · 28/10/2015 07:23

Thanks mrslewis xx

MagicDucky · 28/10/2015 08:27

Well after complaining about losing all symptoms last week I got sent home from work on Sunday because I couldn't stop being sick and I haven't gotten any better since then!! The tiredness is the worst though, I can't keep my eyes open! Making an appointment at the doctor if it carries on! I'm almost falling asleep at my desk! Nightmare!!

Strangely happy that I have symptoms back though?!

Welcome to the new BFPs! CakeBrew

tigress23 · 28/10/2015 09:18

Hi everyone and welcome to the new people!

I haven't posted in ages because we went away for the weekend and I was too busy having fun!

I think I will continue to stay away from the thread, though, as I've realised that it and doctor Google just make me more paranoid. I was a lot happier over the weekend with neither of these things.

Best of luck to you all and maybe I'll check in after the first trimester if I manage to find you again Smile

PrincessPunzie · 28/10/2015 09:26

Great, thanks beano - that was what I found when Googling cold products, lots of people saying "Yeah it's fine" enough people saying "Noooo, it will harm your baby" to end up staying away from absolutely everything just in case! I managed a bit more sleep last night but still not up to leaving the house (even taking the bins out made me feel worse!) so anything that alleviates it would be welcome. Hot honey and lemon sounds nice mrslewis - my mum is coming over later so will ask her if she has any fresh lemons I can nab.

I'm eight weeks today, which I like because somehow it sounds like a "proper" amount of time to have been pregnant (as in "How far are you along?" "Eight weeks" sounds good to me for some bizarre reason) - also the little handprint feature on my Ovia app started working today so I can see a teeny tiny pink hand, aww! Been looking into reassurance scans but at £80 I reckon my husband will say no.

laughingGnomette · 28/10/2015 10:06

Wishing you the best for your scan today nehagarg

17caterpillars1mouse · 28/10/2015 10:42

What cute pregnancy reveals are you thinking of doing MrsLewis?

Woodsy81 · 28/10/2015 10:51

Though I would just butt right in here. :) My sister is coming to visit tomorrow night. She is just back form being abroad for a few months so we are planning to say that we have welcome home present for her. I am gong to wrap up one of my PG tests and hand it to her. Think she will freak out (in a good way!) So excited to see her reaction.

Lovelybeano · 28/10/2015 10:59

I wrapped my 1st pregnancy test up for my mum (we found out with our eldest on Xmas eve) , it was lovely, she jumped around the room like crazy, then stopped and looked at me horrified and said 'have you pissed on this?!' It still makes us laugh now lol

Woodsy81 · 28/10/2015 11:13

Haha! Yeah I think I'll probably get the same reaction. Going to be so relieved to tell her. That will be everyone who knows that will know till after the 12 week scan. Haven't seen any of my family since I found out last week and haven't seen my sister for 6 months. So think I will pretty emotional even just picking her up from the train station. :)

mrslewis2015 · 28/10/2015 11:15

Well caterpillers my folks are farmers and since we were little made is promise to let them have the grandkids for one week every summer.. (Literally so excited for this... Already!) so we got them a tiny pair of wellies to keep at the farm for when baby is big enough! Might slip a pregnancy test in aswell as my dad can be pretty slow on the uptake!

And my inlaws are huge rugby fans so we want to get them a little baby 'bath rugby' hat so they can take the wee one when he/she arrives! Also got a 'spot visits his grandparents' book as the hat is still out of stock and I'm dying to tell them!

Anyone else planning a special reveal? Feel a bit silly but i always go a bit overboard! (You should have seen all the crazy wedding things I planned!)

mrslewis2015 · 28/10/2015 11:16

Also beano that's brilliant! Haha hope we get a funny story out of ours!!

nehagarg · 28/10/2015 11:58

Loving these special reveals. Is anyone planning to record these moments? Soo exciting. Grin

Thanks for the wishes Gnomette. Had the scan and all is well! Right on schedule at 9weeks 2 days. And best thing is - We have arms and legs!!
