Hurrah Cheshire congratulations!! Sounds like you had a good experience with labour. Oh God the wards are a nightmare. I was in 3 nights being induced and 2 further nights with baby. Hardly any sleep had all that week, and its amazing how many women snore like pigs lol!! It takes a while to get the hang of breastfeeding, it's something completely new to us! I hope you have a great support team in the ward. Will they keep you in again if it's not established?

Cheshirehello79 · 11/12/2015 22:43

Well got discharged today at 5pm and still getting used to that I'm a mummy. Still struggling with breast feeding well my position !!! Baby seems to be sucking but not sure if sucking enough - got midwife coming on Monday to help so will see what she says . Can't stop starring at her

My baby boy arrived on 9 dec in the evening weighing six pounds. Got induced on tuesday afternoon but saw no action till wed morning. God the contractions were painfull but luckily it moved fast n i delivered by evening!!!

It is such a wonderful experience to be a mother. Got aches and pains in a lot of places n my boobs feel like someone has filled them with rocks.

Metalhead · 13/12/2015 15:16

Big congratulations cheshire and teddy! I hope you're both recovering well and your babies are thriving.

Breastfeeding is going a little better here, latch has improved although sometimes we still can't get it right and hence my nipples are still sore. Baby metal has had a couple of very unsettled days/nights too where she would feed every half hour, which doesn't help.

Managed our first trip out to the park today though, whohoo! I'm quite achy now but only had one ibuprofen today, so things are looking up I think.

chopsface · 14/12/2015 17:06

Congratulations teddy!

Help! My baby is nocturnal!! I am lucky to grab 2 or 3 hours as he's awake almost constantly needing feeding/changing from 1 until 6!! Argh!!!!

mrsdiddlydoo · 14/12/2015 21:41

Congratulations teddy!!

I had a super boob leak moment today. Forgot the breast pads. I'm sure I've enough milk to feed the whole town right now.

Well done on getting out metal. I'm loving little trips out but definitely suffer afterwards a bit.

Our baby isn't too bad at night but we are co sleeping if she won't settle in her Moses basket which helps us both get some rest. Some days she's feeding almost hourly but then occasionally she'll have a 3 hour sleep which is amazing. Never at night though!!

Cheshirehello79 · 15/12/2015 00:16

Amen to super leak had that today and wasn't sure what's hit me !

I struggled first 2 days breast feeding but had breast feeding come out today at home and showed me some great techniques on feeding and must say didn't struggle much baby latching .

Had worst nightmare last night no sleep baby cheshire was just crying to a point thought was going to lose her voice. It was painful - changed - feed etc but no luck anyways hope she settles today.

We also had our first outing today at register office - yep baby cheshire has a birth certificate :-) and was all achy and my boobs w ere so full causing a bit of chest pain. Thought was going to nip asda as well but ended up staying in car feeding whilst much grab some shopping .

Above all everyone I look at her face it's still surreal - got lots to learn .

Hope you're all enjoying motherhood especially first time mums.

Chops hope feeling better have you gad midwife visit? She might be able give you few pointers - like I hot good tip today since baby cheshire is sleeping with me in Moses basket before bed - put hot water bottle to warm their bed and they tend to sleep well

Leaky boobs here too! On the plus side, breastfeeding is the best diet ever for me - have already lost 2 stone and am just 1/2 stone above my pre-pregnancy weight! Shock

chops does he sleep better early evening or late morning? Can you try and get some sleep then? I know it's hard to change your sleep pattern, but if you can accept that he will be awake between 1-6am for now you might find it easier to cope, rather than trying and failing to settle him every night.

Our little girl was a bit of a pickle as well last night, only slept on DH between 4-5am and then took another hour to feed/settle again. Also, we've given up trying to put her in her crib before midnight as she just doesn't seem to be tired enough to sleep in it then.

Rest assured though first time mummies that things will get better; I can't remember exactly when, but I'm sure by 3/4 months most babies in DD1's peer group we're sleeping decent stretches during the night.

chopsface · 15/12/2015 11:19

We had a sleep from 11 til 1 last night and then 2 until 4! He was awake then from 4 though! I'm wondering whether it was the bath that did it, he was out for the count from 8pm, had to wake him for feed before bed!

chopsface · 15/12/2015 11:22

Oh I'm also using a ton of calories breastfeeding! I'm back in my skinny jeans! I've not weighed myself but I'm pretty sure I'm pre preg weight if not less to be honest. My legs appear thinner Confused

Metalhead · 19/12/2015 15:23

Hi, how is everyone? Are we still waiting on any arrivals?

Things have gone a bit downhill here: despite the fact that bf suddenly got much easier around the middle of the week, DD2's sleep and crying have got much worse. Yesterday she was fussing at the boob all afternoon and chucking up everywhere, then refused to go down between 10pm-2am despite clearly being tired. And today we had one happy hour after she got up this morning, since then every time she's been awake she's been screaming with what looks to me like early colic. Sad really hope she'll have a better day tomorrow as we're going for a pub lunch with all our friends.

mrsdiddlydoo · 19/12/2015 23:07

Think cloud is up this week!

metal are you giving her anything for the colic/possible colic? We had a rough night last night but bearable. Hope you manage your pub lunch. We find DD is better when we go out. She'll have a longer sleep than if we are at home.

Dd's awake moments are lasting longer but always end with an unhappy over tired baby who is difficult to settle. We have lots of fussing and bobbing around on my boobs. She passes out eventually but its stressful when you're already sleep deprived. She's passed her birth weight though and some, so bf is defintely going well. My scar is feeling more sensitive and tingerly.

Metalhead · 20/12/2015 07:44

Another crappy night, she was colicky again from 10pm-1am when she fell asleep on DH, he kept her on him until 3am when I fed her and she finally settled in her crib after that. Up again at 6am for another feed though.

We've not given her anything for the colic yet as I don't think Infacol would help, she does burp and poo often which only provides temporary relief though. The only thing that seems to help a bit is a dummy (which she spits out every give minutes) and gently rocking her. If it continues might give cranial osteopathy a go, even though I'm very sceptical...

cloudjumper · 20/12/2015 08:58

Hi all, sorry to hear that the new babies are causing worries! Hope they'll all settle down soon and that you can have a relaxing Christmas.

Yep, c-section scheduled for Tuesday. Had me steroid injections last week, pre-op is tomorrow. Slightly worried, as I have developed a nasty dry cough that seems resistant to everything I try! Sore throat today as well, I really hope it won't affect the plans... A friend of mine had to postpone her elcs because of a bad cough, they were worried about the scar. Fingers crossed!
Final attempts at tidying today, wrapping presents etc. And we have tickets for Star Wars tonight Grin

cloudjumper · 20/12/2015 08:59

Oh, and is there a post-natal club yet?!?

mrsdiddlydoo · 21/12/2015 09:29

Oh my goodness! One more sleep cloud hope the cough improves. Good luck with the pre op. Hope you're not planning on cooking Xmas dinner on Friday.

We have the noisiest baby at night. Out cold but very mucousy and it keeps you awake! Haven't a clue if there's a postnatal group yet.

Metalhead · 22/12/2015 05:36

Good luck today cloud! I hope your cough has improved.

Sleep is getting worse here, she didn't settle until 1am again and has been up twice since then. Not much sleep during the day either yesterday. I seriously hope this will change soon, I simply cannot cope on that little sleep and am afraid I'll slip into PND again...

chopsface · 22/12/2015 10:36

Sorry to hear you're sleepless metal Sad it's bloody hard isn't it?! Been trying so many things to try and make baby chops sleep better at night. Some nights are better than others and I can't really find a pattern. Just luck I think. Had 6 hours in two 3 hour stints the night before and didn't even need a nap yesterday, was amazing! But then last night he was waking less than 2 hours apart again and was snotty and grizzly. Lucky if I got 4 hours in.

Moved bean up into 0-3 clothes today. Need to pack up the newborns. A bit sad really! Can dress him up as a little boy now though as most of his newborn stuff were pretty neutral. Today he has dinosaurs on his gro! Grin

cloud you're in xmas eve?! That sucks a bit. How do you feel about it? And still being in Xmas day. Good luck though!!

Cheshire how are you??

chopsface · 22/12/2015 10:37

Sorry cloud, read Thurs instead of Tues!!! Good luck today and I hope you're home for Xmas day!!!

cloudjumper · 23/12/2015 15:49

Baby girl delivered by elcs at 5.20pm yesterday. She is absolutely gorgeous, my rainbow baby.
Im OK, but of a temp, which is a bummer because it means I probably won't be able to go home tomorrow but hey ho, better safe than sorry!

Metalhead · 23/12/2015 21:34

Congratulations cloud! Hope your temp goes down soon, in the meantime take it easy and enjoy the cuddles with your gorgeous DD.

mrsdiddlydoo · 24/12/2015 09:27

Fingers crossed your temp has settled over night cloud.

Merry Christmas everyone! Hope you enjoy your bundles and bumps over the festive period xx

Metalhead · 25/12/2015 23:17

Merry Christmas ladies, I hope you all had a lovely day today!

DD2 was very sleepy today after hardly sleeping at all yesterday, so we got to enjoy our turkey in peace. However she now seems to have decided she's had enough sleep again so we're probably in for another crap night...

Cheshirehello79 · 29/12/2015 00:18

Long time zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz,

Congrats cloud and all baby dec that I've missed.

My life with baby cheshire is still a roller coaster we've got good days and bad days - thank god she's not a crying baby but she now feeds very often and I can't even make out her pattern I feel like a milk making machine. The other day she literally threw up ( was a bit scary) it was like watching a prank episode - I got so scared but bet it's over feeding . It's hard to estimate how much they need when the minute she wakes up she sucking her thumbs / clothes even tries to suck your face,/ neck name it if you're holding her - bet it's a learning curve.

As for sleep 2 words ( time out) I'm exhausted all the time as I find it hard to sleep when baby is asleep so need working on that.

Apart from that baby cheshire only wore newborn for a week and is already on 0-3 months. She's outgrown her Moses basket was only a small one and is now sleeping on bassinet until when she's in her room.

Hope everyone had fab Christmas and looking forward to amazing new year with your bundles of joy

The early days are so hard, aren't they? DD2's sleep has deteriorated over the last week, she's gone from doing 3 hour stretches both day and night to waking and feeding every 2 hours at best, hourly at worst. Two nights ago I literally managed 2 hours broken sleep until DH took over and took her downstairs.

Got her weighed today and although she's gaining weight she's dropped down the centiles. HV wasn't worried and thinks maybe the more frequent feeding is due to a growth spurt, but I can't help but think why the f**k am I feeding her constantly if it's not even paying off?!
