Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 37th grads thread... celebrating the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed!

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The 36th grads fred is here

The thread we have graduated from is here in its 52nd outing. WARNING: they're all a bit kerazy not to mention randy!

There is also a Just Mumming thread here for once your babies come along, or to keep up with the graduated graduates!

There is also a private facebook group (so it doesn't give the game away in your news feed!)... if you want to join to see photos of new babies etc, just ask in-thread!

Here is the stats list, please update your own spot with any updates.

Bored bored bored here. Insulin drip so not the, most exciting thing in the world. I did bring homemade biscuits and I'm sending DH out shortly for snacks as the food doesn't sound nice all all!

Enjoy your dinner out 5hell

Pickle I have eaten runny eggs as long as lion stamped and raw steak as long as sealed and shellfish as long as cooked. This is the advice from midwife so I've gone with it. But it's very much a personal choice.

Hurray for good scans Carrot.

CarrotPuff · 03/09/2015 17:05

Molly so sorry to hear about your DS. I hope he gets better. Mine touched open oven door yesterday and burned his fingers. Then this morning he fell off our bed and whacked his head... They just like keep us on our toes, don't they?

I think you have higher chance of having baby in your sleep than getting salmonella from salmonella vaccinated hens' eggs. I too avoided runny eggs with DS and I bloody love dippy eggs, or fried eggs with runny yolks. I caved in last trimester. This time I've been having runny eggs almost every morning. Yum!

Enjoy your mat leave mountain!

God I'm so relieved about the scan. It just feels so much more real now. Also love the fact I've turned 13w today and tomorrow I'll be 14w already Grin

It turns out I did have low iron but no one bothered to call me Angry so will be starting ferrous sulphate as of today. Bought some prunes too...

Oh and my 20w scan will be 16th of October. Might change it though as they didn't ask which hospital I prefer it in, and I want our local one.

Sorry about me me post, I'm just so excited! Smile

purplewhale · 03/09/2015 17:06

Oh Molly how's ds now?

jellypi3 · 03/09/2015 17:06

sorry, sex not gender! (what's the difference??)

thursday i know, but i guess the "risk" is from undercooked seafood in resturants.

honey not prawn cocktail crisps, but he's pretty neurotic on any rule breaking lol

ThursdayLastWeek · 03/09/2015 17:07

I think of it as you can only see what genitals they have, not which ones they want Grin
I'm sure that far too simplistic too though.

jellypi3 · 03/09/2015 17:09

5hell yeah was going to keep it secret until the next scan at least! oh well

ThursdayLastWeek · 03/09/2015 17:09

Well yes, but that's true of many things, chicken, pork, other fish...

Sorry, I'm not picking on you! I just don't like to see more rules and regulations foisted on women that aren't necessary. Like you say, personal choice, but needs to based on correct info.

mountaingirl01 · 03/09/2015 17:12

I've just finished a hat honey and I'm part way through a cardi that until may leave had taken me a month.. Zipping along with it now, but I'm still a novice so every time something goes wrong I have to call my mum! Definitely not in your league but I was ridiculously proud of myself for finishing the hat (I did it all by myself!) Dh now wants one to match which will be very cute but I need to work out how to make an adult sized hat with a newborn pattern...

SecondCupOfTea · 03/09/2015 17:14

All good from my scan. Will add more details later but trying to catch up on some sleep now.

Yay Carrot Smile

ThursdayLastWeek · 03/09/2015 17:18

So happy for all the happy scans Smile next week for me!

gaggiagirl · 03/09/2015 17:26

Hurray for happy scans!

Cross ginger had a great day and cant wait to return tomorrow. I will be forever traumatised.

oneyorkshirepud · 03/09/2015 17:40

Yey for scans Tea and Carrot, really pleased for you!

Jelly, sympathy on the nose vom, that's really grim.

Molly, I hope your little man is okay.

Ga, I know I shouldn't but I am sending you Wine. What a pants day. I'm sure it will improve, and if it is any consolation I really like the sound of the small cross one.

Jumping in as a science nerd here:

Eggs - lion standard eggs have much stricter regulations over them than non-lion eggs. For example the vast majority of the chickens on a lion standard chicken farm are vaccinated against salmonella (herd vaccination). A certain number of chickens also have to tested on a regular basis to check that they do have the antibodies against salmonella and are therefore immune. The chickens could theoretically still get salmonella and pass it on to their eggs but this is much less likely as a) they have been vaccinated and b) salmonella is not bring passed from bird to bird around the farm. I always buy lion eggs based on this anyway. However, I have had dippy eggs and a boat load of raw cake mix since becoming upduffed. The choice is, of course, yours ladies. As someone said earlier it is about understanding the risks and making your own choices. (I worked in a lab for a short while testing chicken blood, this involved running after chickens, catching them and then taking a blood sample - FROM A CHICKEN!)

Steak - the reason that in normal life you can eat a rare steak for example, but not a rare burger is that the middle of the steak has never been exposed to the air and is therefore much less likely to have been contaminated by bacteria etc. Whereas all of the mince in the burger has been exposed to the air/laid on a work surface and therefore should be cooked through. If given enough time a particular bacteria/virus could have made it's way into the middle of the steak and therefore make you ill. Clearly this us a small risk that most people are happy to take in normal life but people can chose to be more careful when pregnant. Each to their own. However, toxoplasmodia is a microscopic parasite, not a bacterium/virus and therefore I am not sure how the mechanism of this works, whether it is already present in the meat and that's why it should be cooked through, or whether it is a contaminant that happens to thrive on raw meat. Because I don't understand this risk fully I am choosing not to eat steak at the mo as well done steak is pointless in my humble opinion. Smile

Seafood - is fricken delicious. Get in my belly. I know nothing about food poisoning in seafood but the NHS says that I can eat it and they are uber cautious about everything else, so Yey!

jellypi3 · 03/09/2015 17:44

As you say it's all about choice. :)

Who is doing next Fred

oneyorkshirepud · 03/09/2015 17:48

Ha Ga, well at least she enjoyed herself!

Apologies for epic post, I thought I had better send it before I ran out of space!

Thanks for the different perspectives earlier on baby's movements. I am normally a pretty chilled person but over the last few days I have found myself getting quite anxious/fixated on this. E.G. waking up in the night and worrying that the baby is not moving. Hormones perhaps? Baby was very active very early and has gotten less active over the last couple of weeks but I think that has been partly due to change of position. I have also been back at work this week and I think maybe baby is moving less because I am so busy. I got a bit stressed about it on the way home but drank some OJ and laid down and now baby is having a good wiggle so feel better. Apologies for the rambling, I'm not used to the feeling of panic! I'm only 25 weeks too so perhaps a bit too early to worry about a 'pattern'? There is no pattern!

We need a new Fred soon but I haven't brought my laptop home. Any volunteers? If not I can do it tomorrow eve...

honeysucklejasmine · 03/09/2015 18:14

Mountain just scale it up. Whatever the start point is (the brim?) Just add lots of stitches until it fits round DHs head. Then follow sane principle of pattern. E.g. if its increase every three stitches or whatever, still do that. You might need to add more rows in before decreasing for the top of the hat. If I make something for someone who is present, I keep popping it on to measure and judge what extras I need. Also, Lil is an absolute guru when it comes to knitting and patterns.

I thought my baby radar had gone off!! Huge congratulations deeply Flowers

Hope purple and mountain, you both are managing to enjoy your final few days/weeks Smile

MollyBloomYes · 03/09/2015 19:46

DS watch: whined and wailed all evening. Placated by potato briefly. Further whinging then lovely bubbly bath, nice story and cuddles for me and DH. Put into Grobag, kisses goodnight then...the bumface poked himself into eye. I give up, that child is a liability! Sleeping now, thanks for well wishes everyone Smile. Carrot sounds like you need all of the chocolate too, klutz children are so relaxing aren't they?

Mightily impressed by the science and knitting wisdom, I am hopeless with both things!

ThursdayLastWeek · 03/09/2015 20:13

Ah I'm happy your DS is sleeping Molly always a good sign Smile

Just back from a Pilates class - and feel so damn good now, all stretched and healthy.

Took fis h out if the freezer for tea before realising me had no chips - so stopped at the chippy in the way home and had to try not to speed on the way home. Salt and vinegar on hot chips smells sooooooooooo good!
