Congrats Armani Smile

My gums aren't bleeding this time round (except v, v early on) but did for last pregnancy. No idea why it would be different this time. Dental care is free if you have a maternity exemption card (you post off for it, and get the form from Dr surgery or midwife).

I posted on pregnancy forum too, but have any of you ever had a low lying placenta? I have this, and thought it was nothing to worry about, but turns out it is Hmm I have a scan again at 32 weeks, but there's increased risk of bleeding and labour issues. Fingers crossed it budges! Just wondering if you'd had anything similar.

Ahemily · 12/08/2015 19:32

Hi queazy, I had placenta previa with DS, which I think is similar (but could be wrong). He was also back to back so I was quite worried about labour too. I was advised that crawling on hands and knees could help with B2B! Hmm

As it was, both things had fixed themselves by the time I went back for the later scan. I'm no expert, but I believe that acupuncture is often recommended to help rectify placenta previa. x

Queazy · 12/08/2015 19:43

Oh thank you so much ahemily. I might look into acupuncture too. Did you have to have a 32 week scan too?

Ahemily · 12/08/2015 19:54

I did, yes, and the whole thing had sorted itself out by itself. It was lovely to see him again too, especially so late on - it's like a bonus scan!

As worrying as it is to hear that everything isn't exactly as it should be, it's great that they've identified it and are keeping a close eye, and hopefully things will settle by themselves over the next 10 weeks or so. xThanks

Queazy · 12/08/2015 20:20

Thank you Smile You're absolutely right and hopefully it will just be a bonus scan and all work out fine. I'm such a worrier!

Ahemily · 12/08/2015 20:26

I think it's perfectly normal to worry, the thought of labour is enough as it is! But they'll be all over it now to make sure you and baby are well. Perhaps have a look into acupuncture as well to ease your mind a bit?

HopeItComesLate · 12/08/2015 20:34

i keep tagging the wrong people so if im tagging you when i meant to tag someone else or visa versa then sorry ha blame it on baby brain?

NoArmaniNoPunani · 12/08/2015 21:48

My placenta is anterior which is why I haven't felt movement yet. He's kicking that instead of me. Anyone else watching OBEM?

roseformyrose · 13/08/2015 00:13

queazy I have a low placenta too, but have been told that 90% of them resolve themselves by 32 weeks, so hopefully nothing to worry too much about.

Congrats all on the lovely scans!

Queazy · 13/08/2015 07:20

Thanks both of you, and Rose sorry for being a bit of a stresshead about it. It's really common and I'm sure both of us will have higher placentas by 32 weeks! I was just stressed about flying tomorrow but all ok Smile

Ahemily · 13/08/2015 08:02

Haven't watched any of OBEM this time around, Armani. I watched it obsessively last time and DS's birth was nothing like how I'd imagined it might be, so this year I've steered clear. Silly, I know!

Gillster · 13/08/2015 08:33

Armani - did you still get a good scan picture with an anterior placenta?

Fugghetaboutit · 13/08/2015 08:55

I can't watch OBEM while pregnant, I just cry too much

SweepTheHalls · 13/08/2015 09:56

Yay for boys! It's driving me crazy, that I'm 20 weeks but still won't have my next scan for 2 more weeks! We are having a lazy day here today, we did legoland yesterday for the DS's birthday Treat. Great day but my goodness I'm tired, we didn't get home until 10! I need to recharge today as tomorrow we pack for 10 days of camping, then back to school, boooo.

Tangoandcreditcards · 13/08/2015 10:19

ahemily yes - my gums were really bad at the beginning - then fine, but have just got bad again. Don't tell armani but it's probably as much to do with haribo as it is to do with hormones... Blush

I also can't watch OBEM - WAY, way too emotional. I had to turn off something else just because there was a baby crying the other day.

Hope your flight ok queazy - where are you off to?
Hope you don't get too wet camping sweep - it's supposed to be very rainy here for the next couple of days.

Good news on the house hope

sherbertlemon17 · 13/08/2015 15:36

So just a little update... Went for our scan this morning and was there for about 3 hours! Baby was not being very helpful and had to go for a walk to get them to move.

Everything looked great except for a tiny hole in the baby's heart. The Dr isn't overly worried and said it should right itself before the baby is born or after and is small enough that it shouldn't need surgery. I had exactly the same when I was born and I've never had any issues, so fingers crossed all will be well. We've got to go back next Thursday for a cardiac scan to look at it a little closer.

It was much much harder not to find out the gender then I thought though!

Lovely scan pic!

I'm going to be going to scan alone as dh will be away on business :(
We want to find out sex so maybe I should ask sonographer to write it down so I can open it together when he's back? How will I be able to not look for 3 days?!

CuppaSarah · 13/08/2015 17:33

I typed a massive reply to everyone and it's gone!! I can't remember what I said but our scan went really well I am baking a chunky little boy! Absolutely in shock I was convinced he was a she, but there was a willy and balls!

I will properly reply to everyone tomorrow when I'm not brain dead due to gender shock.

Ahemily · 13/08/2015 17:58

Congratulations Sherbert and Cuppa on your scans!

Sherbert, I'm sorry to hear about the little hole, crossing fingers that it fixes itself soon. It's encouraging that you had the same thing yourself and haven't suffered.

Cuppa, totally empathise with gender shock - I was convinced I was carrying another boy and I'm definitely not! Glad all is well.

Fugg, good idea re the piece of paper, although I'd personally really struggle not to look!!

HopeItComesLate · 13/08/2015 18:16

congratulations sherbert and cuppa :)

Is anyone going to/have been to bumpfest? think i might give it a go if im not working x

Fugghetaboutit · 13/08/2015 19:31

Dh just said I can find out and just call him, he's ok with it.

Another boy in the clan!! Congrats Cuppa!

All these scans are making me so excited to see my bean again!

Queazy · 13/08/2015 20:11

Exciting news - congrats on your little boy Cuppa! I've said to my DH we either need to open the envelope or destroy it - I can't sit in the same house knowing it's there!!

I'm really sorry to hear about the little hole Sherbet but it sounds very positive that it will either close before birth or not be too big a concern following. I hope they can check closer to due date if needed.

I wasn't planning on going to bumpfest but will admit I haven't read up much on it. I didn't go with dc1 and not pretending to be some sort of Mother Earth (sadly, the opposite), but I wonder if it's as suited to new mums and those who've already got dc? Will have a read!

Hope you're all having a good night. My dd won't sleep and I so want foooood!!

We go to gran canaria tomorrow - the weathers not meant to be very nice, but looking forward to playing and swimming with dd. All she cares about at the moment is Peppa Pig and ducks, so hopefully we can keep the former in check, even if there are no ducks Smile

Fugghetaboutit · 13/08/2015 21:14

Have a lovely time! You don't want it too hot anyway. We've booked menorca for September and hoping it'll just be mid 20s as I get so tired if it's really hot.

Ahemily · 14/08/2015 07:23

Have a great holiday, queasy!

Queazy · 14/08/2015 11:56

Thanks ladies Smile I hope Terminal 5 is prepared for my live-wire of a dd tearing around! Hope any scans coming up go well this week xx
