He barely poos at all and saves them up into massive up the back, down his leg and up his tummy poos. Your dd sounds so much like mine was, she was lovely but it was bloody tough going. It will get better, it seems forever right now but before you know it things will have settled down.

Fugghetaboutit · 23/01/2016 20:47

Well at least she does cute little poos, I'll hold onto that Grin

H has slept in spare room since I was pregnant so all nights I do alone. Really annoying when he acts tired...ever Angry Grin

horseylady · 23/01/2016 21:30

So has mine!!!

It's moments like this I wish I wasn't breast feeding. Im so tired. DS is cluster feeding and I just want to go to bed. If I was bottle feeding him I could be in bed.

Fugghetaboutit · 24/01/2016 09:12

Tempting isn't it?! We could go out for the day/night!

HopeItComesLate · 24/01/2016 10:44

I'm going to start mixing between breast and expressed milk soon. The mashines are expensive but I just can't wait. just going to do one feed a day expressed at the moment but will be lovely to just say to dp you do this one. And the rest of the family are really excited to have a go too.
Has anyone mastered the art of feeding whilst laying down yet? We can do it but my boob interferes with breathing so have to press it down a bit which means it's not really relaxing as promised.
When do we get real smiles? I've been watching and unsure at times but he's only 3 weeks so probably just wind at the moment? X

Fugghetaboutit · 24/01/2016 11:21

I feed lying down all night but I have smallish boobs so maybe it's easier? I did it lots with ds and it's so easy for them to just latch on and off as and when, only thing keeping me sane I think!
I put one arm under my pillow and the baby quite low down so she can breathe easily

HopeItComesLate · 24/01/2016 13:07

I have small boobs maybe he just needs to be lower down. I'm sure we will get there. Hope you got more sleep last night fugg x

Tangoandcreditcards · 25/01/2016 16:39

Ha. Bottle fed babies cluster-feed too, so don't be too quick to jump off the boob-ship, DS has about 3 hrs a day where he's constantly at the bottle! He still feeds every 2-3 hrs through the night too, but it's true I can't complain as DP and I do split shifts. DS2 hardly goes upstairs - he lives in the living room!
DS1 has been a bit of a nightmare. 4-5am waking and all sorts of nonsense tantrums. He's v nervous around the baby, wouldn't go near him at first, but starting to show more interest just now. We've managed a few excursions. DS2 spends A LOT of time in the sling. His longest sleep to date is 2hrs in the moses, think we'll try and keep more civilised hours from next weekend and move him into the cot in the bedroom then.

fugg that sounds like my DS1 too on the reflux-side. I don't think I realised how bad it was at the time because I didn't know any different (I do now!). Hang in there, i had clothes just for him to be sick all over. Sad

Fugghetaboutit · 25/01/2016 18:34

Yes she's v sicky and screams in pain if you lie her down so I keep her upright a lot.

Yeah at least you can shifts with bottles, it's the fact it's all on me which is adding pressure. Had a little melt down last night once they had gone to bed as it all felt too much. Dd is all mucusy and has a cough too.

Ds has been so good today so can't complain, and I managed to fend mil off from visiting today as I couldn't take it

Tangoandcreditcards · 25/01/2016 18:45

Poor you fugg - sounds like such hard work. Highly recommend a sling for keeping upright (I had 2 X Moby ones with DS as one was always in the wash!). I think DS got more comfortable with feeds after about 12 wks but the sickiness continued a while...

I'm experiencing the down-side of super speedy labours and seem to have had some sort of prolapse yesterday. Spent all day blubbing about my poor knackered vag (an excellent use of energy at the mo, I'm sure), off to see GP tomorrow to see if anything can be done.

Fugghetaboutit · 25/01/2016 19:09

Literally just chucked her in the sling, thanks for reminding me. She's been screaming after feeding hysterically. At least I have my hands free now.

Oh no, poor you. How did you know? I'm so depressed about my vag too :( I was crying about that a bit the other day after looking at my stitches - how I'll never have my original vag back :( it's such a big adjustment all this.

Fugghetaboutit · 25/01/2016 19:22

Also, while I'm moaning/venting I still can't poo. It's awful, like giving birth every time! So painful :(

horseylady · 25/01/2016 21:28

fugg- hugs. Go to the Drs with the reflux. My first had it it was awful. But the medication helped. Wedge the cot shove a towel under the mattress or books under the cot. In fact, go to the Drs with the constipation. Are you drinking enough? I'm constipated and had s section. I'm trying to drink LOADS but Imstill not sure that's enough. It really hurts to go just like when I gave birth last time.

We are still very much in the early days. I think it was 6 months or so before down there felt OK last time?? Longer even by the time the tear healed. But don't be afraid to speak to your GP about the issues.

HopeItComesLate · 25/01/2016 22:56

Fugg I'm having painful poos too. Is it like cramping? Is this normal? Sounds like your really going though the mill at the moment.
Hope all goes well at the gp tomorrow tango how quick was your labour?
Think I'm going to ask about classes tomorrow when I get ds weighed as I'm sure he's smiling now and his sight and awareness seems to be improving so maybe some groups might be appropriate ?

Tangoandcreditcards · 26/01/2016 02:30

hope - I had painless contractions for 10 hours ish, but less than an hour "active labour" I reck, and he was out in 3 pushes. DS1 was quite quick too. Thought I'd been so good about my pelvic floor exercises but obviously wasn't good enough!

fugg - feels like tampon falling out 😔 and there's something up there that isn't normally there.. pretty sure it's related to/caused by my constant constipation too (so back-passage prolapse?) as much better after going to the loo but then comes back.

Am eating 2 bowls of all-bran a day just to keep things moving, but it's still pretty slow going here too. Get some constipation relief if you can. Also put your feet up on something when you go (I like to use the bathroom bin) so you're more in a "squat" position - really helps. 💩

Fugghetaboutit · 26/01/2016 04:16

Urgh been up for 2.5 hours straight, she won't go back go sleep as she's blocked up and mucusy. Shit night

Tangoandcreditcards · 26/01/2016 07:18

Poor you fugg hope you managed some sleep after that. X

horseylady · 26/01/2016 07:33

Milled flaxseed is also good at helping getting things moving.

Big hugs X

Fugghetaboutit · 26/01/2016 08:11

Thanks x I got H to come up and settle her in the end.

I have some flaxseed and wheat germ, I might put some on my porridge.

Hope everyone else's nights were better!

CuppaSarah · 26/01/2016 17:35

Oh gosh its all going on here at the moment! Fugg I'm so sorry things aren't going great. There's this stuff, I think called fybogel? It's a powder that you out in drinks and its tasteless, but its full of fybre and makes you poo gently. I found it amazing when I had constipation. The reflux sounds so heart breaking too.

I hope the gp goes well tango, sounds very uncomfortable. Fingers crossed its something simple to sort out. I.hope your DS1 is able to find the adjustment a little easier soon.

After DS being the easiest baby ever, he developed colic and its been just awful. Screaming little red faced ball of misery. The only plus side was he would scream so much in the day he was so exhausted he would sleep through the night. Started colief last night and its amazing! No longer doing explosive every other day poos. He can fart without screaming! He's even smiling properly! He's still a bit grumpy when be poos or farts, but its nothing like before.

Fugghetaboutit · 26/01/2016 19:25

So glad the colief is helping Cuppa! I'm going to get some of that fybro stuff tomorrow definitely. It's been horrendous, just as my stitches have healed now I've got this! Plus dd being all refluxy.
It's funny because ds was Never sick not even posset. Dd has been projectile vomiting today after most meals so not sure if I should take her drs or not. She has her hearing test tomorrow too.

Fugghetaboutit · 26/01/2016 19:26

Is colief like gripe water that helps with wind?

CuppaSarah · 26/01/2016 20:06

Sort of, but it breaks down the lactose in milk, which little babies find hard to process and that's what causes the constipation and gas. It definetly seems to be the case for him.

I would get her to the drs, even if they only offer you reassurance. But they might offer medication for reflux and it could make all the difference.

horseylady · 26/01/2016 21:58

Infant gaviscon changed our life!!!! Seriously every feed was bought back. The lot. It was like the exorcist.

HopeItComesLate · 27/01/2016 14:59

Sorry your all having such a hard time, hope the remedies work for you all 🤒
Things going well here. I've put my name down for baby massage in March and ds has started smiling 👶. However I've also been told I should have chosen and signed up for a nursery already !!! I don't even know where I will be working yet and ds is only a month old. Hopefully the hospitals nursery will take shorter notice once I gain employment.
Can't believe how much he's grown already x
