I think my stitch popped as it doesn't hurt anymore but there a small hole in my labia where it was. Mw coming for last visit today to discharge me so she'll have a look.

How is everyone else doing? Has op had her baby?? Smile

CuppaSarah · 18/01/2016 13:04

I hope it popping is good news fugg!

I'm on the border of Hampshire, Surrey and Berkshire.

As for baby massage and sensory, I probably won't do them. I do baby massage at home, and find the paid for classes make me weirdly anxious. I'm all about the stay and plays at children's centres. Free and fun! Looking forward to going swimming lots after injections as DS just loves his baths.

How's things going for everyone? Are things settling back to the new normal? DS has some good nights and everything is easy, but when he has a bad night it all goes to pot

sherbertlemon17 · 18/01/2016 14:27

I'm in North Kent. Lots of sure start centre groups around here, but DD is just too little to appreciate them yet. It's a shame that I'll be back to work when she's just old enough.

We went to have a look round a nursery the other day too. Can't believe she's nearly 5 weeks and I'm already having to think about that!

DD has also become really sicky over the last week after feeding. Not distressed in any way, so not sure it's reflux. She does struggle to bring up wind though. Any advice?

horseylady · 18/01/2016 14:51

Posset or full sick? DS1 had reflux. Used to bring up most feeds. A small amount of sick is perfectly notmal. Reflux babies struggle to gain weight.

I'm Derby.

We're doing ok. Getting into more of s rhythm. I still feel horribly anxious and am dreading DH going back to work and feeling like what the hell am I going to do with days. Then I keep thinking in 8 months I return to work. You know? Days are long, years are short. And all that. I just do not enjoy the new born weeks.

Fugghetaboutit · 18/01/2016 14:56

Dh didn't take paternity but works from home so I call him down when I'm tired and he takes over with ds and will take him out on days he's not in nursery.

They are right when they say it's easier for the second to slot into your routine.

Dd is gaining mad weight, she was born 3350g and is now 3700! I guess feeding every 45/hourly will do that.

Will have to check out nearest childrens centre for classes. :)

CuppaSarah · 18/01/2016 16:27

If she's gaining weight and seems happy enough, don't worry about the sickyness. Some babies just sick lots. My DD was sick tons and tons, we were immune to the milk sick smell in the end.

Horsey you are so right about days being long and years short. Newborn days are really rough, each day feels so long yet so little gets done.

DS is super gasey and doesn't ever want to burp. Infacol hasnt helped, so waiting to try gripe water. Anyone have any magic burling techniques? Only thing that works is laying him on my chest and rubbing his right side. But that only gets farts out.

sherbertlemon17 · 18/01/2016 16:34

Some posset, some sick. Mainly posset though. I'm trying to keep her upright for a little while after she feeds to see if that helps. I don't know if it's because she's such a hungry baby and she's taking more than she needs maybe? These babies are so confusing! Wink

Horsey I know what you mean. DH is back to work tomorrow Sad when does your DH go back?

HopeItComesLate · 19/01/2016 01:48

I'm near Newcastle. Hope the gasey and sicky babies feel better soon . Ds is sicky at night didn't even think about the fact I put him down strait after feeds at night being related.
It's the nights that are long here I'm just so tired. Got a big reminder I had a c section today after feeling much more myself I took the dog for a walk muscles I never even think about (in the scar area) ache. Was walking round asda slower than before he was born clutching my tummy. Couple of paracetamol did the trick was just a bit disheartening.
Going to a resteraunt for nieces birthday tomorrow. A bit terrifying just hope he'll sleep!! Struggling with getting him to latch today so do not want to feed him in public if I can help it.
Hope your not still in pain fugg.
Has everyone had their babies now? Can't remember if we heard from gillister or not

Tangoandcreditcards · 19/01/2016 03:32

It's hard when you first get out and about. I just walked into town on Sat (about a mile) and realised that's the furthest I've walked since May (due to tedious SPD). I had aches all over. I used to walk 8 miles a day so looking forward to getting back to speed!

DS1 was v v sicky sherbert, I tried everything and gave up in the end. But he definitely had worse weeks. DS2 seems to have the odd sicky day. I find not letting him get "too" hungry so he guzzles and keeping him upright for a while helps.

When are you planning on going back to work sherbert ? I'm taking the full year but doing a week a month from April under SPL. Might pop in for a meeting/KIT day next week too, playing it by ear.

I'm quite lucky in that DP WFH (and usually does all the childcare) so we basically split the nights. I go to bed at 7 and get up at 1.30. He goes to bed then and sleeps until 8. Which we can do as I'm FF. Means we're not too sleep deprived, I much prefer even an oddly timed block of sleep to getting up every 2-3 hrs. We did it with DS1 for 8 weeks, reckon we can stop sooner with this one as he's having the odd "big" feed and "long" sleep. DS1 was up at 11 tonight though snd was in with me (hogging the bed!) so it's a long shift for everyone tonight!

I'm in Surrey. I don't really do classes. DP and DS1 go to stay-and-play. Maybe we should make more effort to meet other parents but we're quite lazy still!

Our first trip out was pizza express too fugg ! 😆 On Sat we've got to drive 4 hrs cuppa (2 there and 2 back) for a special family lunch. We've opted to leave DS1 behind with his granny though as its a long time in the car for lunch at a hotel that he won't appreciate or enjoy! DS2 can steal the limelight! I feel a bit bad leaving the big guy out though, I'll make it up to him. (Pizza express, probs haha)

Fugghetaboutit · 19/01/2016 08:17

Yay for pizza express 😄 loads of other kids yelling so didn't feel anxious about mine if anything kicked off. Was actually really nice pizza.

Hope I hope your tummy feels better soon, that's major surgery so take it easy - order online! Reminds me to do an order actually.

Yes lying baby down after feed can cause sickness, I hate that at night you just want to feed them and go back to sleep but you have to wind them etc.

Dd was up from 1-4am then ds up at 6am. So not a great night. She's really nocturnal and I'm not sure how to change it - I keep her in light and noise all day and v dark and quiet all night. Might try some white noise tonight!

CuppaSarah · 19/01/2016 09:01

I've heard babies go from nocturnal to getting night and day around 6 weeks, so we're nearly there.

Sherbert the hv decided dds issue was she was feeding too much and getting uncomfortable and being sick after each feed. As it was never a full feed I just let her a over eat. She never moved off the 25th percentile so it wasn't an issue.

DS has a right old snot nose and hes gone from being so placid and easy to calm(minus the gasey episodes), to being ultra grumpy and clingy and impossible to settle.

There's got to be something special about pizza express and new babies!

sherbertlemon17 · 19/01/2016 10:28

Thanks for the advice everyone. The staying up right seems to be helping a bit... She's such a greedy little thing, I'm convinced she's over feeding like your DD Cuppa but she winged the she's still hungry if I don't give her as much. Oh well, I see the HV soon so I will speak to her about it too.

Tango, originally thinking beginning of term 6, but now thinking more like the end. I want to get paid for the holidays Wink Will definitely be doing a few KIT dats though. Will be in for sports day no doubt!

Hope you're taking it easy today Hope Flowers

HopeItComesLate · 21/01/2016 21:26

Had a full day out and fed in public today 😯 Used a scarf but it went really well. Hope your all doing ok x

CuppaSarah · 22/01/2016 07:16

Congrats hope! Really glad it went well. We made it up to Grimsby and are.having a nice bit of down time.

DS has had the sniffles and has just been crying so much. It's finally passing and hes back to normal almost and DS smiled properly last night! I cried my eyes out i was so surprised.

HopeItComesLate · 22/01/2016 07:48

How do you know the difference between smiles and wind cuppa? Can imagine it was just what you needed if he's not letting you sleep glad he's feeling better now x

Fugghetaboutit · 22/01/2016 08:03

Aw lovely smiles to look forward to, how nice Cuppa :)

Well done Hope I took ds and dd out by myself on Wednesday to the park for a frosty walk. It went really well, we stopped for cheesy chips in the cafe too. Dd slept the whole time

Fugghetaboutit · 22/01/2016 20:10

Sooo this baby is quite difficult compared to ds as a newborn! I think she has reflux as she screams after feeding, wants to sleep upright on me all day and night :/ plus I think I have thrush now so my bits are so sore again, just when I started feeling better down there.
Also I had to take lactulose as I couldn't go to the toilet as it was too painful. It's been a right glamorous time here!!

HopeItComesLate · 23/01/2016 02:31

Oh fugg hope your doing ok sounds like your having a right time of it. Have you got a sling if you have I've used mine about the house when ds won't settle. I know it's still not ideal but it is easier than carrying and frees you up a little more for your eldest. Hope the thrush clears up soon.

X

Fugghetaboutit · 23/01/2016 06:40

Thanks Hope Yes I've got one and will use it more today I think rather than trying to put her down as she just cries atm and I need to do things for ds and the house.
She slept ok last night, didn't cry as much.

How often do all of yours wake to feed at night now?

HopeItComesLate · 23/01/2016 08:54

We're really looking lucky we go to bed around 10 then wake around 2 and get up around 5 that's only the past week though was constantly before that he just suddenly clicked x

Fugghetaboutit · 23/01/2016 09:55

That's really good! Dd is up so much eating it's tiring. Think it was 10,12,2,4,6 last night eurgh

CuppaSarah · 23/01/2016 10:45

That sounds really difficult fugg. Totally agree about the sling, when DS has a fussy day it's a life saver. I bet your DD is gaining weight really well with all those feeds, but it sounds exhausting. Especially when she's more difficult than your first.

DS slept from midnight to 6am last night it was amazing. Normally he wakes around 3am then 6/7am we've been very lucky, DD wake every two hours so I was prepared for much worse. We do have odd really rough nights where he just wont settle.

Mil is currently fussing DS while I've stuck bubble guppies on for DD. It's the quietest and calmest its been since DS was born.

Fugghetaboutit · 23/01/2016 17:15

Why is mine feeding so often?! She's gaining a lot and already properly fits her 'up to 1 month' sleep suit at 2 weeks old.

I'm a zombie. I hate weekends as I'm so spent and touched out with ds. Just a few more weeks and I'm sure things will get easier as her tummy gets bigger

Fugghetaboutit · 23/01/2016 17:16

Didn't he poo in all that time cuppa? Mine poos twice in the night. Usually just as I've gotten her
Sleep Sad

horseylady · 23/01/2016 19:25

Usually bed at 10-11 up at 2/3, 5/6 then 7. Sure it'll settle soon. Hopefully anyway. Had both DC with no DH And survived just!!!
