Does your back hurt at the bottom by the coccyx? Mine was agony. It's getting better a week on.

My dc have been 'challenging' this week. It's such a big change for them, but it's exhausting! Babies are so much easier!!
We are one week in and she's starting to have more efficient feeds and longer periods of sleep so hang in there.

Eat, drink, rest, it will all come together soon.

buntingbingo · 09/01/2016 12:31

Oh, and I read to take paracetamol every 4 hours. Just to cover all the various pains. I've been doing that and it really helps!

buntingbingo · 09/01/2016 12:32

Also!! If another midwife asks me if I'm remembering to do my pelvic floor excersizes I shall scream.

Fugghetaboutit · 09/01/2016 13:05

Haha! Grin Everytime I fell asleep a midwife woke me - on ward and at home knocking on door!
I've been doing the paracetamol every 4 hours too, def helps.

Had a sob last night as felt so overwhelmed and wondering what the hell I've done then realised my milk has come in. She's been sleeping loads today due to better feeds so that's a positive. Here she is wide awake Smile

She's georgous fugg. The big break down on the day the milk comes in seems to be a theme that was the night I announced I didn't like it at home and would need to be returned to hospital.
sorry to hear about your stitches fugg ibuprofen is a good top up when the paracetamol lets you down.
I've actually been advised not to do pelvic floor excersises yet bunting which is lovely now but not sure about in a few years time ha.
Oh also I decided the other day that I eventually look like a normal person I honestly thought I'd walk out of hospital like this but it took till day 7 and I almost cringe about how nieve I was!
Heres a rare photo of DC awake and not screaming and me on day 7 looking like a normal human being at last.

Hope - gorgeous pics! You look fab!

No way am I posting a pic of myself, I'll scare you all off Grin

buntingbingo · 09/01/2016 15:48

Ahhh. Beautiful! Babies and mummy.

Yes i feel like a human again today. I'm wearing trousers with an actual waistband! We went on our first family outing. It was all fine. I fed in a cafe! But my ankle went and I fell over like a sack of spuds on the way home with baby in the carrier. Argh! We are fine though. She didn't even cry.

HopeItComesLate · 09/01/2016 16:45

Oh my god bunting your so brave I am no where near good enough at this feeding malarci use to feed in public we still have a fair bit of head bobbing and if I use a Muslim or feeding scarf he goes strait to sleep. Can't believe you fell that's been my worse fear! Glad your both ok.
Fugg I am not normally one for a selfy either but I was just so excited to look normal again after looking like a dead person for a week haha.
Babies started being sick after feeds is this normal or am I possibly doing something wrong/ maybe too much milk? X

Fugghetaboutit · 09/01/2016 17:19

Is it projectile or just dribbling out?

Poor you falling over, Bunting!

buntingbingo · 09/01/2016 17:20

We are having a littlw but of sick after some feeds. Perfectly normal I'd say. It was an eventful outing.... I'm staying at home tomorrow 😁 hooray to being human again!

HopeItComesLate · 09/01/2016 18:28

It's just a bit of sick was only worried as he was never sick before he almost chocked last night and now we are on full alert. I've been reassured that a newborn won't eat more than it needs so going to continue feeding on demand and hope my milk supply can keep up haha x

Fugghetaboutit · 09/01/2016 18:33

My nips are cracked and so sore I cringe when she's hungry, but I know the first week is rough. Slathering on lansinoh here 😥

Little bit of sick is fine I guess because their stomachs are so tiny it overflows a bit sometimes. Dd kept bringing up mucus the first day which was gross.

buntingbingo · 09/01/2016 18:37

I use those avent shield nipple former thing's with lanisoh. They have been good for keeping my nips away from fabric.

It's worse after a shower! I have no shame in walking about topless with the huge baps wobbling about, I can't face putting a towel over the nips .

It's the let down pain that kills me. I want to cry every time.

HopeItComesLate · 09/01/2016 18:43

I've been using jelonet which they give you in our hospital asda pharmacy have them it's amazing like a really thin bit of gauze caked in some sort of oily gel stuff you keep them in the fridge really soothing nipples tender but they where actually scabby before I started using it x

Fugghetaboutit · 09/01/2016 20:01

Yes baps are out and proud here too Grin

That stuff sounds awesome! Off to look online for some

Tangoandcreditcards · 10/01/2016 02:49

Lovely pics fugg and hope.

hope - DS1 sicked a lot (every feed, for a year). DS2 has been hardly sick at all. Try not to worry, in my experience it's down to the baby getting used to eating and there's not a lot you can do apart from clear up (I tried changing most aspects of feeding at some point!). Hopefully it won't last too long. The choking is a bit scary though, but to reassure you that they get through it!

I put on "human" trousers yesterday too. It was a novelty, but then my cousin came over and she's 30w pregnant and I have a bigger bump than her. (She is slim and fit, I am... Err...Not).

Anyone else got night-sweats? I woke dripping today. (I'm sleeping 7.30-1.30, DP sleeps 2-8 - so I think it's "morning" already lol)

CuppaSarah · 10/01/2016 10:39

Gorgoues babies!! DD used to sick sooo much. Once I heard a deep rumble from her Moses basket and looked inside to find it and her literally coated in sick.

My stitches have healed. But there was a small sore spot where I thought the skin was puckered, turns out it was an ingrown hair. It was sporntastic.

I was getting night sweats and a tingly scalp but its mostly stopped. My tummy skin is still super loose, but my muscles are coming together a little this time!! Last time it took loads of physio.

Dh is I'll today, DS had a terrible night and DD is toddlering. So the sofa bed is out and we are having the ultimate pyjama day. I've found myself more tearful in the last few days than I was when my milk came in. But my blood pressure tablets make me so exhausted I can't walk round for more than 5 minutes without getting dizzy and I'm sick of being stuck at home unable to do anything more than run a bath.

Fugghetaboutit · 10/01/2016 16:27

Cuppa - hope everyone feels better tomorrow Flowers. I'm looking forward to getting out and about but it's daunting at the same time. It gets depressing being stuck in.

Stitches are bloody sore today but day 3 so probably normal but I'm wincing when sitting down.

HopeItComesLate · 10/01/2016 23:00

Oh my god tango the night sweats. I wake up soaking. at first I thought it was leaking milk but it seems to be getting worse more than better.

Cuppa that sounds awful. Before my blood transfusion I was dizzy etc apparently it's a sign of anemia have they tested you for that or is it all part of the parcel with pre eclampsia? Either way I hope you feel better soon

Fugg your doing brilliantly to be even thinking about leaving the house on day 3 I was still in hospital and thinking of having a shower as a massive achievement. Your stitches will hurt less and less just make sure you take it easy in the meantime.

Those of you with children already are amazing I'm finding it hard enough to care for the dog with a newborn let alone a toddler. X

Fugghetaboutit · 11/01/2016 06:38

Thanks hope, I'm definitely going to rest more.

My nipples are now scabby, so sore. Lanolin is helping a bit and I put some calendula cream - anything else that could help them?

CuppaSarah · 11/01/2016 07:19

Apparently cabbage leaves on the fridge are.super soothing for sore nips fugg, but I found expressing some feeds really good till my nipples healed, plus you get a little break if your partner is about to give the expressed milk. How are the stitches tkday? Hope they're feeling better, sore stitches is the worst pain.

Hope I am anaemic, but I don't think I'm too anaemic anymore as my levels were rising on leaving hospital. The newborn haze passes so quickly, you'll of forgotten it in a matter of weeks!

Right now I'm listening to baby boy being the actual loudest sleeper ever. He sounds like an old man grunting and groaning, with the odd sleepy kitten noise chucked in for good measure. Is anyone else suffering with super loud sleepers? How do I sleep listening to that??

Fugghetaboutit · 11/01/2016 12:57

That's a toughie because you can't use ear plugs with a newborn around! I'm getting used to the snuffling noises.
It's been tough here as my ds would always come into my bed and last night he tried and I had to take him down to the spare room with his dad in tears poor love. For his own good as he wouldn't get any sleep with me and dd. :( sad how it affects them.

So I've dug out some nipple shields from when I had ds (unused) and what a godsend they are! Wish I had put them on ages ago!!

horseylady · 11/01/2016 15:57

All ok here!!! Nipples a bit sore but healing well and getting out every day!! He'll be three weeks on Thursday!! Madness!!! Just trying to get used to the sporadic nature of breastfeeding!! Hoping it gets easier as the weeks go on (or more predicable!!)

buntingbingo · 11/01/2016 18:51

Nips not too sore here but the initial latch in pain is horrendous particularly if it's been a while between feeds. But she's gained weight so something must be going right.

I'm finding things hard going with the other dc though I feel.so grumpy being trapped on the sofa feeding all day and they seem to be particularly demanding. I'm being so snappy. I think DHs patience is wearing thin and we are all getting sick of each other.

I actually thought to myself this morning that I miss going to work!!

Fugghetaboutit · 11/01/2016 19:33

Bit like that here too bunting this afternoon. You are not alone. It's a big adjustment for everyone isn't it?

Had a look at my stitches - 2nd degree tear again in same place!! Sad and they're so sore when I sit down well no wonder, they've been left really long so when I sit they pull and tug! Envy called my MW and she's coming first thing to trim them in the morning.

I'm already in bed with baby asleep on me. She's feeding every 30-45mins this evening Brew
