I'm finding my temper so short too, i feel just awful for DD but I can't just let her clamber all over baby like she wants.

Fugg the nipple shields sound fab! But the stitches sound awful, no wonder you're sore. Enjoy the early night!

Glad things are going well horsey!

I managed the first public breast feed today at the gps waiting room. The only seat was slap bang in the middle of the room with a teenage couple opposite. I managed to keep my nip hidden and DS didn't pull off loads, so that was pretty damn successful. We even made it out to buy nappies. I haven't managed to walk more than ten minutes since DS was born, but today I coped with half an hour!! And I'm down to a half dose of blood pressure meds till Monday when I finally finish.

Fugghetaboutit · 11/01/2016 20:13

Great job Cuppa bloody daunted imagining taking them both out..

buntingbingo · 11/01/2016 20:25

Well done for the public bf! It won't be long until we are whipping the baps out any old place.

My middle (can't get used to her not being my youngest) told my dad "Watch out, your going to see mummy's boobs in a minute" Shock

Ouch! The stiches sound horrid. I got some mamma earth angel baby postpartum pads. They were from amazon. You soak them and put them in your pants. And also put them in the bath. I was lucky not to have stiches so haven't used them yet but they get good reviews.

Tangoandcreditcards · 12/01/2016 02:14

Sounds like everyone is struggling with the juggling! Sending soothing thoughts for stitches and nipples.

I feel so bad for DS1, I'm constantly telling him no, stop, get down etc. And the weather is horrid and daylight is short and even with DP at home we're not getting out enough to keep him entertained. There is a LOT of tv happening. Roll on Spring, I say. We did (all!) manage to make it to the swings yesterday but it started raining after 5 mins. Family day out to the registrar office tomorrow! What fun! I'd forgotten how much admin there is for a new person.

As I'm FF, DP and I do shifts through the night, so we both get a reasonable block of sleep, which is a lifesaver, you ladies BF through the night are surviving on meagre rations of sleep & healing as well - hardcore - hang in there! Saw the MW yesterday and DS2 still not back to birth weight so not discharged yet, unusual for FF I think, but he'll get there, only 100g short reckon he's just too efficient at pooing! (So MANY poos)

CuppaSarah · 12/01/2016 08:13

Haha bunting, I love your dds attitude to your feeding! I can't wait to stop being nipple shy and be all idgaf is someone catches sight of them.

Tango way too much TV here too and way too much YouTube. The rain is killing our plans too, although we're braving play group at the children's centre, if I can convince dh to get out of bed. Hopefully ds2 will be back to birth weight next weigh in!

Fugghetaboutit · 12/01/2016 09:59

When do they first get weighed? Forgotten all of that stuff!

I definitely am in the 'dgaf' crew when it comes to breastfeeding and doing it anywhere. People don't really care tbh and probably don't see anything because of baby's head.

Midwife coming today to look at stitches, they're so sore I can't sit down, I need a rubber ring!

Fugghetaboutit · 12/01/2016 10:38

Has anyone seen a HV yet? Does that happen after MW discharges you?

Tangoandcreditcards · 12/01/2016 11:29

fugg - I saw the HV last Fri (at home). And not discharged by MW yet, last time they definitely didn't come until I was discharged - so might depend on the area (or maybe because I was a HB - I definitely feel like I've seen a lot of the MW).

DS was weighed by community MW on day 5 (at home) and day 11 (yesterday at clinic). MW also visited on the afternoon of the day he was born, and the following day (which I think was because of HB). I'm getting paranoid he's not getting enough now, but I know full well you can't force it in him, so trying to trust my instincts!

Hope your stitches get better very very soon. Hopefully it's healing pain.
You poor thing. At least you can take painkillers now!

cuppa - we skipped play group last week (too many potential germs, but mostly just couldn't face it!) thinking we'll all go this week, but it's on Fri so we've got a few days to summon up the courage to wrangle the boys down there! Don't you overdo it now!

Tangoandcreditcards · 12/01/2016 11:30

PS gilster are you still hanging in there? Flowers

CuppaSarah · 12/01/2016 11:33

Baby group was a massive success! Dh sat down with DS and k enjoyed playing with DD till milk time!

I saw a hv once I was discharged by the midwives, that was day 10 and DS was weighed on day 5 and 10. The hvs barely bothered with me though as apparently there's a lot of first time mums struggling with breast feeding in the area right now so as its going well we had a flying visit. Only useful bit was weighing him.

CuppaSarah · 12/01/2016 11:40

And fingers crossed those are stitches get fixed! It must be making things so much harder than the should.

Fugghetaboutit · 12/01/2016 13:29

Thanks Tango hope ds gains soon.

Well she's been, had a look and tried to touch it and I jumped 3 feet in the air and cried Sad apparently it's a really tight stitch. No infection but she's given me antibiotics to cover me. If it gets worse (not sure how) I'll go to triage and have it numbed and removed. Can't even sit down at the moment.

Midwife also weighed dd and she's gained weight which is no surprise as she eats every hour at least.

Cuppa Glad playgroup was good :)

Gill hope you're ok too!

CuppaSarah · 12/01/2016 15:00

Sad if you can't sit down it really doesn't sound ok. It needs to be right, I would go to triage if I were you. Worst case you don't like the options you're given and you leave things as they are. Give them a call at least? My stitches were worse than the labour last time and even though they healed up to be painless, I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Really feeling for you.

Fugghetaboutit · 12/01/2016 19:40

Thank you :( I've never burst into tears from pain, felt like a child but it was involuntary.

My sister is coming over tomorrow to watch ds so I can go then, didn't think my first outing with dd would be to triage :( but I can't deal with it anymore. Feeding every hour at night is awful as I need to sit up. My other stitches are fine, it's just that one really tight one.

CuppaSarah · 12/01/2016 20:25

I'm so glad you're able to get in there tomorrow. You can't stay this way at all! DS' first trip out was triage too so she's in good company in that sense!

Just think in 48 hours time it should fx all be a memory.

Fugghetaboutit · 12/01/2016 20:32

I actually feel too scared to go in case they touch it again, it was so bad. If they could inject local nearby maybe? I'll see what they say and head down early with H and baby.

Thanks cuppa Flowers

HopeItComesLate · 13/01/2016 02:01

Fugg I hope they do something for you. c section stitches where bad enough can't even imagine the pain of vaginal ones sounds horrible Flowers

Glad everyone's trips out are going well. Took LO to MIL's for dinner yesterday was amazing he slept the whole time we where there and my niece and nephew where besotted was so lovely to show him off but no one believes us that he screams all night now because he was so good.

Oh almost forgot baby still has a gunky eye I was told in hospital it would clear up on its own but hasn't will the health visitor be able to do anything about it or should I ring the dr's ? Really don't want to waste the gp's time over something so small x

horseylady · 13/01/2016 17:32

Hope we had funky eye here. Squirted some breast milk into it. All gone.

Did you get the stitches sorted Fugg? Sounds awful?

I sat on my horse today and had a tiny walk down the lane. Felt lovely to be back on board. Then had panic phone call from DH saying ds2 was awake and hungry so I had to dash back to feed him!!

Fugghetaboutit · 14/01/2016 09:34

Stitch isn't so sore, didn't go to triage as was too tired to contemplate it. I'm hoping it'll just heal.

I'm really considering a vaginoplasty after all this maybe next year. I look like a patchwork quilt down there and it's really depressing tbh Sad

CuppaSarah · 14/01/2016 10:14

Hope did he keep you up all night in the end? I've heard about breast milk and gunky eyes too apparently it's a miracle cure.

Horsey you are so brave getting back on the saddle so soon, it must have been lovely to get back to it though.

Fugg I'm so glad its a bit better. You're at the worst part now, There's a good chance it'll heal up so much better than it is now.

I've arranged to do the 4 hour drive up to mils next week, not sure if I'm brave or foolish. But I love my mil and want her to get cuddles while he's tiny still, plus DD loves going up there. Mil looks after us so well its like a holiday, plus the fish and chips in Grimsby is amazing.

HopeItComesLate · 15/01/2016 15:38

Well LO head butted my boob this morning and hot an eye full of milk so hopefully that will do the trick.
Glad your feeling a bit better fugg hopefully it will keep improving can you get any decent pain killers from the dr?
Good luck with your journey cuppa hopefully you will time it well between feeds and your LO will sleep the whole way.
And yes we where up most the night but the baby was nocturnal and now seems we are too so trying my best to turn my sleep pattern around now that he's sleeping better. Hopefully once we are in a better sleeping pattern I'll be able to brave one of those baby massage or sensory class things anyone tried any of those things? Just want some mummy friends nearby x

sherbertlemon17 · 16/01/2016 15:29

I went to baby sensory last week Hope. It's a little bit cheesy and DD was the littlest baby there. She's started smiling when prompted and when she is really engaged by stuff and she was doing it during the singing, so I'm guessing she enjoyed it! Lol!

I'm the same as you though... Want to make some local mummy friends. I only know 1 other mummy who is on May leave.

Fugghetaboutit · 16/01/2016 18:19

I've signed up for baby sensory too, should start February when dd will be a month old :)

I have lots of friends from my first and met them all on a postnatal group, we're all quite close still. It's good to get out there as it can become quite isolating.

Went out for lunch to pizza express today, first time out since birth and it went really well. Baby slept through in car seat and ds was v good.

horseylady · 17/01/2016 21:49

Where do you all live? I'll start baby sensory after Easter. Think I found DS1 got more out of it from 16 weeks. Looking forward to starting something soon though!!! Baby yoga will probably be first. Or baby massage.

Fugghetaboutit · 18/01/2016 08:44

I'm in North London. I didn't do baby massage with ds, will look into it this time as dd loves being touched whereas ds didn't like being fussed with (still doesn't!)
