That's still low, juniper, try to focus on the fact it's a 0.003% chance!!

I sobbed at that video too, thank goodness DH wasn't here to witness that (or indeed tonight's OBEM-induced tears - saved by a late shift Smile ).

lilyb84 · 22/07/2015 23:11

No wait - 0.0003! My maths is rubbish.

Blackandwhitecat3 · 22/07/2015 23:26

Yay! Valancy, you made it to the end of term Smile. And with more energy.

Lovely scan pics today, I think all three are boys.

I really don't think I could watch OBEM now I'm pregnant. It would just scare me too much.

Welcome newbies, I wonder how many others will de-lurk after 12 week scans.

16 week mw appt tomorrow (a week early coz we're off on hols next week) so looking forward to peeing into a pot while I can still see it. And to asking about my FW8...

fishermanswife1 · 23/07/2015 00:12

Well done vacancy you made it!

Lovely scan pic wynsey, you sound positively bursting! Glad you had such a good experience.

I'm with you oyster. I think OBEM shows a disproportionate number of CSs and also dramatic births - as admittedly the latter makes better tv.

I wondered the same b&w, if our numbers swell now as folk come out of the 12 week scan closet.

coffeenut · 23/07/2015 05:04

If my mothers' groups and friendship groups are anything to go by, unfortunately there is an insanely high proportion of c-sections and "dramatic" births in real life Smile. I watched OBEM when I was pregnant with DD1. Couldnt when I was pregnant with DD2 as it brought back too many traumatic memories. Now I could watch it, but I can't stand all of the whingers Wink.

Great scan pics everyone and good results Flowers

I had the same skin issues when pregnant with DDs as with this DS. Terrible for the first 15 weeks, cleared by week 16. In fact similar pregnancies all round really. Except def more headaches and migraines with this one. Would be lovely if I didn't gain as much weight give it's a DS this time, crossing my fingers whoever said that!

Just reading I should be expecting a huge growth spurt weeks 16-18 (I'm 16 +4). Starving today, maybe that's why?! I should link a bump pic, I've def popped out now.

MaybeMrsMum2016 · 23/07/2015 06:18

Oooh coffee show us the bump! I still feel like I'm the same shape as before, just that everything is a bit further ofrward now. I think my mum is wondering where bump is and isn't convinced of the whole thing ha! Now that everyone knows I'd be happy for it to pop!

In other news, forgot to say that the moses basket has arrived! I love it, the fabric is so soft! The cat was very intrigued, the naughty girl needs to stay away from bambino's bed!

frozenfairy123 · 23/07/2015 06:54

Obem also seems to have a lot of really young people on it. Although I have not watched the latest series. I like a bit of call the midwife!
Had my 16 week app yesterday and was very uneventful. I can't believe I won't see the midwife again till 28 weeks. They just are not bothered the second time around! X

Lookingforadvice123 · 23/07/2015 07:22

juniper try not to focus on the numbers - low risk is low risk. In my HB they don't put the risk figure on the letter, just "low risk", which I think is better tbh as I would only worry about the figure and why some people's are better odds - I had a friend with a 1 in 100,000 (she rang to find out the figure) odds and say mine was 1 in 1000 I would've worried! Best not to know Grin

A couple of people in work have commented saying I don't even look pregnant, I know I do but my stomach was rely flat before so I can really notice it! I'm 16+5 today, this was me taken first thing a week ago when I was 15+5!

SleepyDragon · 23/07/2015 07:56

Morning all

I.Am.Wrecked...... woke up 6 times during the night with cramp in my calf so now feeling sick through lack of sleep and today is our 15wk marker, i'm supposed to be feeling better by now lol!

tinyme135 · 23/07/2015 07:59

Morning ladies. We haven't even looked at baby stuff, already got a moses basket cause my mum is passing down the one she used for me and my brother all i need is a new mattress for it :)

I got my 16 week appointment today so I'm going to talk to the midwife about my hormone issues and how bad my moods can get as I had another turn yesterday and broke down cause I couldn't find my bus pass.

Hope everyone is great, tiredness slowly going, Appetites coming back, having some more energy?

MissMartin10 · 23/07/2015 08:21

I love looking at bump pics +scans.. its so exciting!
cute bump looking Grin
aww lovley Wynsey i think a Boy!!

AlohaMama · 23/07/2015 08:27

Don't worry tiny plenty of time yet. I think I'm actually pretty sorted on baby stuff now. My sister gave me back lots of my old things which I thought she'd got rid of so that was handy, and I met up with a group of mums yesterday to swap stuff. Everyone bought their unwanted kids/baby clothes/toys/books and took what they wanted. Came home with baby bath, lots of clothes, two wraps, and a car seat cosy toes, so not at all bad. Even got a nearly full box of breast pads!! Just need to buy some kind of cot (am now thinking snuzpod) and car seats for my older 2 and we'll be done. Am hoping that investigating the 3-abreast car seat options won't result in having to buy a new car....

moonshine25 · 23/07/2015 08:29

Hi everyone! Hope second trimester glow comes to you all soon! I'm feeling slightly better, although stick retching with every teeth brush!!

What do you all think of reusable nappies? Just read a post on the pregnancy page and I'd never thought I'd want to do it but it actually sounds so much cheaper and not that disgusting....

MissMartin10 · 23/07/2015 08:35

moonshine no way would i use them personally hehe.. i know they work out cheaper and are environmentally friendly but i would rather just take the nappy off and throw away rather than having to sort them out.. i do however have many friends who love them Grin

SleepyDragon · 23/07/2015 08:38

i was getting a bit concerned reading about all these 16 week MW appointment when i haven't got one, and then i realised i have an Ante Natal appointment at the hospital next week (16wk) and as i'm to be consultant led perhaps that takes the place of the 16wk MW appointment?????

My SIL is lending us her moses basket so we don't need one of those but as a First Timer i have no idea what to get for in the bedroom inbetween the moses basket and the cot bed stage as the CB will be in the babys room - can anyone help please?

moonshine25 · 23/07/2015 08:40

Missmartin that's exactly what's put me off until now. It just seems a lot of energy when there's so much else going on - i.e. Lack of sleep etc!

Went for a walk with my friend yesterday and her dog jumped up to my tummy - panicked slightly then I realised there's probably a lot of padding in there protecting the baby. So much to worry about at the moment!

moonshine25 · 23/07/2015 08:41

Oh and sleepy dragon I'm consultant led too and I have appt with them next week but also a 16 week midwife appt that was booked at my last midwife appt. May be different in your area but worth checking?

Oysterbabe · 23/07/2015 08:42

I'll be doing disposable too I'm afraid.

Is there any benefit in continuing folic acid past 12 weeks? I've still been taking it, mostly because I still have about another couple of weeks worth left in the tub. Just wondering if it's worth opening the new tub once they're done. I'm also taking Vit D that I'll continue with.

tinyme135 · 23/07/2015 08:44

sleepy I'm the same. I'm a new mummy too and I don't have a clue what to buy what they need how much of what they need. I'm trying not to think about it at the moment as we have a lot going on already it's one less stress we need.

mrschatty · 23/07/2015 08:51

sleepy and tiny first time here all my mates are on number 1 too...my friend advised buy a crib for bedroom as can sleep in there longer so I've forgone moses basket baby will sleep in pram or snooze pod when downstairs

coffeenut · 23/07/2015 09:22

we're at that stage too aloha ... really hoping that we wont need a new car but it is going to be a tight squeeze in our current one to fit 3 abreast. I really need to book a car seat consultation. I think we'll need a new narrow booster for DD1 and a compact seat for DS. DD2 luckily already has a compact seat. Or we might just trade in for a 7-seater .... urgh.

sleepy get on the calcium/magnesium supplements for those cramps. we'll have the cot in our room for first 6 - 12 months. Moses basket for the first month unless DS is comfortable straight to cot.

tiny i hope the midwife appointment goes well.

JeanLouise123 · 23/07/2015 09:22

Hello, new here. Can I join...? A little late perhaps! Haven't read all the threads (so many posts already!) but it would be nice to just chat with people at the same stage as me, I've been browsing the pregnancy boars since I found out. I'm 15+4 weeks with my first (due Jan 10th), had awful sickness (and still am) and taking Zofran for it. Actually living in Australia and most of my family/friends are in England. Time difference means I might not be chatting when all you guys are but I'll hopefully be able to keep up! I'm definitely thicker round the waist and the sickness is a killer, but the pregnancy just doesn't seem real yet. It's still a bit sureal. Can't describe it. I suppose that will change when I can feel the baby moving. Something I am excited and terrified about! Anyway that's me, hope you don't mind the late comer/gate-crasher :-)

MissMartin10 · 23/07/2015 09:23

mrschatty ill be opposite of you hehe snuzpod/chiccobedside crib upstairs and moses down stairs.. i have my baby bouncer/swing that lays flat aswell so baby can nap in there aswellGrin
im attempting to return to work again tomorrow after going on for 1.5 days last monday and tuesday but I've just thrown up so not really sure ill make it. . my headaches have gone horrendous and make me really stiff.. achey& hot.. the only downside now is that ive exceeded the maximum days i can have off in a year at full pay as i was off lat year for 1month im aug (so now on half pay). . so as its worked off a rolling year that means gradually through aug ill start to accumilate more days i can have off again sick if need be

MissMartin10 · 23/07/2015 09:24

Welcome JeanLouise of course you can join hehe. . Congratulations Grin xx

Marvelette · 23/07/2015 09:52

You lot are definitely winning on the organisation front. I'm only just starting to think about it really. I'd quite like something like the Snuzpod for the bedroom (like the thought of just being able to reach out and touch the little one's tummy!) but do you reckon I can get away just with using the carry cot attachment for the pram if I need a Moses basket type thing? Or are there advantages of having a specific Moses basket? (First pregnancy and a bit clueless!)
