Moonshine thanks for the info, i think i'll check out my red book and maybe give the MW a call just to see.

Oyster my MW said to keep taking mine (i am on higher dose of 5mcg) so i reckon i'll just keep taking them till she tells me to stop, especially since my GP will presecribe them on my mat exemp card.

Tiny i'm usually quite disorganised so i'm makingh an effort to sort myself out before baby brain really kicks in but so far its not working lol

MrsC never heard of a snoozepod, may have a squiz....

Coffee funnily enough i bought some calcium and Vit D suppliments the other day, perhaps i should just open it instead of it sitting on the side!!

Welcome JeanLouise too!

kep1979 · 23/07/2015 10:10

moonshine I will be using reusable nappies again, as I did with my older two. I loved them, and they aren't as much hassle/disgusting as they may seem. If you have any questions then just shout.

wynsey lovely scan picture - I think boy too. In fact I agree all three yesterday looks like boys Smile

I am working from home today as my back is killing me and my boss is away - I've been very productive so far! So will allow myself some baby browsing later.

I am actually quite glad that OBEM has sections - when I knew I was having a section with ds1 none of the baby programmes ever featured them. Dh is massively squeamish (this is his first) and so I need to de-sensitize him, so he's agreed to watch OBEM and anything else I can find on sections. I am more nervous about him keeling over than I am about having section number three!

tinyme135 · 23/07/2015 10:25

Just came out of mw app and everything is great, blood pressure is low so need to drink more fluids and I heard babies heartbeat. It was really loud :D

kep1979 · 23/07/2015 10:42

Do we get to hear baby's heartbeat at our 16 week midwife appointment? Does anyone know when they start measuring fundal height - I know it's not yet but just can't remember from last time.

I decided to measure my bump to see how much it grows - it was 89cms yesterday morning, and was 96cms by the evening lol. This morning it was 90cms..... will be interesting to see how quickly it grows Smile

Blackandwhitecat3 · 23/07/2015 11:06

Kep that's good to hear there's a cloth bum mum on here for advice, thank you. I'm thinking of doing them but not in the first few weeks - I figure it'll just be too hectic then. If I feel up to it then I'll try to borrow some from a local nappy library to try them out. DM has already given me the terry squares I was in many years ago, but I'm planning on using something a bit more modern and easy to use.

Blackandwhitecat3 · 23/07/2015 11:09

Oh and welcome JeanLouise, join the gang. We already have some thread members in Oz - have a look at the stats sheet (coffee) I think.

tiny yes! Fourth day in a row have woken up feeling good, sickness is only in the background and only if I get too hungry, loads more energy and tons more appetite. I think I'm eating my 300 extra calories at breakfast alone!

Oyster last time I took Tesco's version of pregnacare all the way through and also when breastfeeding. Meant I didn't have to worry about my diet being a bit off.

Moonshine I was happy to try reuseables last time but they caused DD to have horrendous nappy rash. She has very sensitive skin, though, and is allergic to most nappy creams and nappies! I will probably try again with dc2, assuming the allergies aren't an issue.

Out of my NCT group, I'm the only one (of 8) who had no interventions. Only one had a c-section but the rest had forceps / inductions. So perhaps the ratio on OBEM isn't so off!

fishermanswife1 · 23/07/2015 11:20

Morning ladies. Hi jeanlouise Congrats!

Working from home today thank goodness. Had a busy and productive start, but then for the first time in weeks I'm having really horrible cramps all over my stomach. So just had to have a half an hour lay down to try to relax tummy muscles. The tending is making me feel really sick.Hope it calms down soon! Another wedding to go to tomorrow! Nearly the weekend Grin

JeanLouise123 · 23/07/2015 11:28

Thanks for the welcomes Smile (and hello to the fellow Aussie!). Its really great to hear how other people are getting on with everything. I'm such a novice and don't really have many people here to talk to about pregnancy related stuff. Love the stats sheet. This is probably a really stupid question, but what is the blue yellow pink in the final column?

kep1979 · 23/07/2015 11:49

Welcome Jeanlouise and congratulations. The blue/yellow/pink is whether we have found out the sex (blue or pink) or if we are keeping it as a surprise (yellow). I'm team pink Smile

kep1979 · 23/07/2015 11:51

juniper I used silk liners with mine, and they helped with my ds's sensitive bum (he's allergic to all the standard nappy creams/lotions). So will stock up this time just in case for this little lady.

AlohaMama · 23/07/2015 11:51

moonshine i exclusively used cloth nappies with DS, a bit more mixed for DD, but still have them so will give them ago with this one.

marvelette the reason i liked the snuzpod is that you can take off the top to use as a moses basekt, but no idea how heavy or cumbersome it is to carry around.

kep1979 · 23/07/2015 11:56

And also used kamillosan if his bum looked like it may be getting sore at any stage (usually when he was teething only) and I swear by it as a wonder cream. It's lovely and natural and I used it on my eczema and as a nipple cream too Smile

Whilst we ar eon things that I remember being good I used lansinoh breast pads as they seemed the only ones that didn't show obviously through clothes and they were massively absorbent.

And whilst I am pondering and supposed to be working I have an electric double breast pump (Avent) from last time, however, I strongly suspect it will no longer work after being in the garage for years. I really want another double, but it appears Avent don't do one? Does anyone have recommendations for a good double that's robust and durable - I used mine for near enough a year. I did break mine (knocked it off a table) and Avent replaced it for free so I like their customer services, but wasn't sure if there were now better ones available.

JeanLouise123 · 23/07/2015 12:03

Ahhh thanks kep, congrats on the girl! I'm a firm yellow then (for now). I am also hoping to use cloth reusable nappies but really haven't put much thought/planning in yet. I'm so behind you all on organising for this baby! I can't even remember to take my tablets most days... Blush. Off for a bath before bed. Looking forward to reading updates tomorrow. Wish I'd joined this sooner really

MissMartin10 · 23/07/2015 12:05

kep this may be a stupid question but do they re-open the same scar? to deliver in the same place for section's.

Brooke113 · 23/07/2015 12:07

Day 2 of the headache here :( and wish I could find some energy from somewhere. I feel like such a rubbish mom to my two dc that are amusing themselves with books, games etc as I'm so tired all the time, I literally have no energy, and even something simple like preparing lunch, wipes me out :(

Have also realised I'm not on the list, and I can't seem to add myself, so if somebody more knowledgeable has a minute could they add me please :) aged 29, 2dc, due January 20th, from Shropshire

kep1979 · 23/07/2015 12:23

brooke I'm a Shropshire lass too Smile

missmartin well they have a go at going in where you were cut previously, to minimize scarring, but it was difficult last time due to the scar tissue. Apparently it takes longer to make the incisions for each subsequent section. But both of my scars are very close together and overlap a little, so not too bad. I know I have a lot of scarring as I had a laparoscopy as part of fertility treatments and I had adhesions from my section scar which was removed. So I imagine it'll be a bit tough for them to get through this time too.

Brooke113 · 23/07/2015 12:28

Have you had 2 cs kep me too... Although I have asked if I can try a normal delivery this time as my last cs was over 6 years ago, I've had mixed responses so far...

TeenieDeenie · 23/07/2015 12:30

Morning all! 14 weeks today for me, hooray! Every week feels like a milestone. Bump/boat still only really noticeable in the evening, can't wait until its firmer and it 'pops' as they say. Managing to get out for little walks in the evening now when the weathers nice and if/when I feel good enough to go. Still getting waves of nausea now and again but defo not as bad as it was. I must admit though, the past two days I have been really hungry, like REALLY hungry ha ha, I know a few others have mentioned it, is around the 14 week mark/start of second trimester normal for this kind of hunger to kick in?!

A big welcome to the new ladies joining the thread, waves! Smile

Brooke I'm sorry you're still struggling with the headaches and fatigue, really hope it lifts for you soon and you get some energy back! I had a headache for 4 days about a fortnight ago and it was the worst I'd ever had in my life. Was told if it persists to go see the GP.

Wynsey Lovely scan pic!

kep1979 · 23/07/2015 12:43

brooke yep - I was told that it would be a definite third section as they won't let you go for a VBAC even though my last was 9 years ago. I have a narrow pelvic arch anyway, and make big babies, so I haven't pushed for a natural as there would be no point, but I'd be tempted if I didn't have that issue.

nicnicspicnic · 23/07/2015 12:44

Well I've just dashed home on my lunch break and it's lovely to catch up with everybody's news. My school must finish late as I don't break up til tomorrow. I can't wait although it does mean entertaining my 3 DS for 6 weeks. I've already threatened them with residential summer camp!

Aloha we really struggled with 3 car seats in our old car. We eventually got a new car basically based on car seats space. Now we've got a seven seater - which I'm going to need.

Looking you have a lovely little bump. I already look like I have a football shoved down my top and I'm only 15 +3. I think my tummy muscles were just non existent so it's just all popped out now.

Romeolovesjuliet · 23/07/2015 12:50

coffee and aloha our biggest purchase will be a new car as there is no way we can fit 3 across the back. DH doesn't want anything people moverish which ruled out lots so out choice is quite limited (and ouch to the expense!).
I don't think you need a Moses basket but it easy nice to have something downstairs for the baby. It's nice not to have to keep carting things up and down stairs although less of an issue if it's your first as you don't have to consider the toddler hanging off you.
I watched OBEM and sobbed at the woman who had to have the GA for her section. I would be gutted to miss it. I never understand why the vast majority of women they show labour lying flat on their backs. I can't imagine anything worse - both times I have needed to move around/hang over the bed but most definitely be upright. The pain is terrible lying on your back (although I suppose if you're on the bed due to an epidural you wouldn't notice). That said, I only know a couple of friends who had no interventions in their first birth - we all had fast and straightforward second births though. I have heard that third babies can be tricky Confused.
Still having days of feeling dreadful but having some periods of feeling ok too. Expect to turn a corner around 14/15 wks. Haven't told work, wondering how much longer I can get away with it for. I'm such a wimp!
Welcome to all newbies.

Thanks for the new thread.

Romeolovesjuliet · 23/07/2015 13:10

Meant to say kep I rate the medela breast pumps although I have only used a single.

crumble74 · 23/07/2015 13:23

Hey kep, at my 16 week midwife appointment she didn't listen in or measure fundal height. As next appointment with her isn't until 28 weeks I'm sure she'll do both then!

Does anyone know how to go about obtaining the MAT1B form for work after 20 weeks when you don't see the MW until 28 weeks? Most employers need it back by 25 weeks? Confused
