Morning Ladies,

Still no progress, comes and goes was regular all night and kept me awake.

My mum felt the contractions and said they were not strong, feels strong and painful to me Sad.

Called MW last night and she said it has to be 1 minute long, 3 minutes apart and me not able to talk. So the waiting game continues.... According to mw this could go on for days yikes!!!

Baby moving ok, with some strong wriggles and a kick every now and again.
Another stroll today should do...

Naturegirl82 · 06/07/2015 12:03

sue we didn't use a monitor until DD1 was 6 months old so just went for quite a simple one. Something to be aware of though is I think there have been reports that the wifi ones can get hacked into so might be worth checking the model you decide upon.

broodylicious · 06/07/2015 13:06

Exactly what I was going to say re hacking, nature.

We have a tommee tippee monitor with sensor mat, sue. It has a temperature thing, two way talk, mains and battery operated and of course the sensor mat, the bit that stays in dd's room has a nightlight bit too. We felt that any other gadgets on it would just be a bit of overkill tbh. I understand why ppl like the video features because it might stop you from going in and disturbing lo when they're just grumbling or moaning in their sleep but you get to know their sounds soon enough so bit redundant IMO. Re lullabies, and other things like cot mobiles for that matter, one word of warning would be that it could all end up doing the opposite of your intention - instead of sending bubs to a beautiful deep sleep, it may well overstimulate and prevent them from slumber!

Thanks for the BH responses Broody and Charlie - have decided I'm going to count myself lucky not to have them!

Keep us posted JoY and Must, I wonder how many babies will have arrived by the end of the week... I still can't quite believe I'll be having one at some point soon!

Huffs123 · 06/07/2015 13:27

Hi everyone, I've not been a regular poster but just wanted to let you all know that DS arrived safe and sound 11 days early on Friday Smile

We Dtd to see if it would get things moving, and it certainly did!

Good luck to everyone still waiting and congratulations to all those who have had their little bundles!!

SueV14 · 06/07/2015 14:11

Congratulations Huffs!

I hear what you're saying re hacking nature and broody.. scary thought of having some sicko observe your baby! I only was only thinking to use the wifi thing when we happen to go out and leave DD with a babysitter or so, so defo not often.

As for the video function, I do want it cause I keep hearing that ppl need to rush out of shower cause they hear the baby make noises, and with the video function you do have a better chance to wash off the shower gel if you see the baby is just wriggling in her sleep :-))

I narrowed it down to 3 devices, motorola MBP 853, Angelcare 1120 and BT 7500... now need to make a big sophisticated excel spreadsheet to compare all the functions :))

Naturegirl82 · 06/07/2015 14:53

sue we have a video monitor and it is useful Smile

broodylicious · 06/07/2015 14:56

Fair play sue, your decision.

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to say congrats to the ladies with beautiful new arrivals. Randy and Teddy are just gorgeous!

Good luck must. Hang in there. I would be seriously fed up if I were you.

Hope things kick off properly for you asap Joy.

Miss T I'm not due until 28th, so not expecting any signs of labour for a good couple of weeks yet. No elephant feet here, but restless legs (and wrists, weirdly) and chronic acid reflux all making life fun at the mo Smile

SueV14 · 06/07/2015 15:04

which one do you have nature?

Naturegirl82 · 06/07/2015 16:17

It's a Motorola one. I'd have to check later which one it is for you though. Battery life isn't amazing on the parent unit though.

SparklyPenguin · 06/07/2015 17:49

Congratulations Huffs Flowers

smallgreenbanana · 06/07/2015 18:01

Many congratulations huffs thanks for the lovely news! Enjoy your newborn hugsSmile

Sherbet38 · 06/07/2015 18:26

Just popping in to say the Angelcare AC1100 is reduced to £119 on Amazon at the moment, down from £189 (although I've also seen it for £229 recently Shock), so a bargain!

Sherbet38 · 06/07/2015 18:30

Congratulations huffs

SueV14 · 06/07/2015 18:46

Sherbet, I am on Amazon right now working on a spreadsheet for my shortlisted monitors and was JUST NOW putting the price down! LOL :)

I am not sure I want the movement feature tbh, as it may cause more worry than reassurance, but it is one of my 4 favorites indeed ;)

LostSoulsForever · 06/07/2015 18:49

congratulations Huffs!
I having been avoiding DTD due to ridiculously painful SPD but might give it a shot tonight & see if we can get things moving! Wink
Must, I hope you are hanging in there. you must be so fed up - from what you have said I think you are doing brilliantly.
Good luck to all the others that are feeling twinges. and fingers crossed for those that are now overdue & looking for signs of labour. X

Raines100 · 06/07/2015 19:16

Huge congrats Huffs! Completely missed your post earlier. Glad all is well.

broodylicious · 06/07/2015 19:55

must, you're a saint. I'd have flipped my lid by now. Great that your mum has been taking notes though as well so you'll be able to put together a fantastic complaint. Good on ya, girl!

Huge congrats huffs. Enjoy your newborn squidge xx

38 weeks today. Mw appt all fine, just my anaemia that's still annoying. Baby is 3/5 engaged so just hope s/he stays locked in there and doesn't float up again! Darn pelvic muscles not as strong second time around! Next appt is at 41 weeks but hoping I'll have had baby by then so won't need it. Undecided as to whether to have a sweep then or not. I'm really not one for any type of intervention. Will wait and see what baby thinks...

Charliej86 · 06/07/2015 21:34

Mw tomorrow, 38+4. Hoping he's still in his good position. Gonna try convince OH to dtd this week. Not allowed to give birth on Wednesday tho as bro and sil are in for scan. If he still won't I'm gonna book my friend for a reflexology session.

SparklyPenguin · 06/07/2015 22:04

38+2 here, also had mw appointment today. Baby's nicely engaged 3/5, lovely and active with good heartbeat. Unfortunately my BP hasn't come down since last week's high readings, so it's off to hospital for a fun morning of monitoring tomorrow. Ah well.

broodylicious · 06/07/2015 22:25

Oh sparkly, how annoying. I had to have loads of monitoring at this stage last time due to high BP so sending sympathies your way. What was more frustrating though was that I was always absolutely fine when I had my readings taken at the hospital! Reverse white coat syndrome! Do you think they may induce you soon if it's still high? X

fattymcfatfat · 06/07/2015 22:33

I found you all!
Congrats to everyone who has had their baby
I'm 37+5 got mw in morning. Got to waddle down there on my crutches with my swollen feet Sad
I'm definitely close to the end now, I'm practically living in the bath as its the only place I can get comfy!

SparklyPenguin · 06/07/2015 22:45

Thanks broody, yes mw said that inducing would have to be considered, but I'll just wait and see what happens tomorrow. More likely I'll be back and forth from hospital for the rest of the week! At least it's only 15 mins walk away, or 5 mins on the bus. I'm still really really hoping to give birth in the mlu (same hospital) so clinging to the hope that can still happen. We'll see!

MustBeLoopy390 · 07/07/2015 05:48

Well, had a bit of a shock, woke at 2pm with bad contractions, ambulance called at 3.30, on delivery suite by 3.40, baby Sebastian in arms at 3.44, 8lbs 10, perfect baby :) I had a bit of a big bleed so on the drip but feeling very well in myself :) xxx
