Sitting here on the antenatal ward. We have have a 3 hour delay so am trying to distract myself. Dh very bored and grumpy. Crap birth partner so far. Wink

fattymcfatfat · 22/07/2015 11:15

Getting mild contractions every 6/7 minutes for the last hour or so. Hoping things start now! (and they don't come to a halt like it repeatedly did with DD)

LaLaLaaaa · 22/07/2015 14:06

Good luck fatty and Olympic!

Congratulations to all the new mums :)

41+1 here and just had sweep no 4. I'm 2cm dilated and there's no apparent reason why bub isn't coming. Contracted all day yesterday but no progress. V frustrating.

LaLaLaaaa · 22/07/2015 14:07

Sherbert how are you getting on?

fattymcfatfat · 22/07/2015 14:22

And I've stopped again. Argh!

MissTwister · 22/07/2015 14:23

Hi all, for those who have had their babies I've started a July baby thread in the post-natal groups folder. Here we can all discuss our lack of sleep at 3am!

Come join

X

charlieis30 · 22/07/2015 15:18

Hi everyone, congrats to all those who've had their bubs!

It's my due date tomorrow. Have had loads of cramps/braxtons but not regular at all. Plus hiccups seem to be coming from further up so I think her head has probably popped back up - 40w appt tomorrow so will know for sure. Completely over being pregnant at this point, hips hurt, belly feels heavy, feel nauseous and I'm sick of wondering "is this it?" every time I get a few braxtons in a row.

I had a sweep this morning and this time it was successful, cervix is shorter and forward. So midwife thinks things have progressed. However my BP was high and there was protein in my urine, so I've been sent to hospital for monitoring. I was told to prepare to stay in and possibly have my induction brought forward. But now I'm here all monitoring has been fine. Waiting for blood results and to see the doctor, but I suspect they'll send me home again.

lala that's good that you're dilated progress! Think you're going to beat me to it Wink

LaLaLaaaa · 22/07/2015 15:44

Sherbet that's great news that your sweep was successful! Good luck! I hope we both have some news by tomorrow Smile

MrsFbabyNo1 · 22/07/2015 17:14

More photo and dress love from me Broody! Beautiful.

Fingers crossed for you today Olympic, and come on baby FattyMc get a move on.

Sweep ladies, yes sod the other tricks and techniques, shall we do a "sweepstake" competion on your extention of dilation and babies arrival. Grin Get the competitive juices flowing instead!

How has your monitoring been today sherbet?

MrsFbabyNo1 · 22/07/2015 17:23

Any cat owners out there?

My 8 year old girl cat has only just starting coming into the house now (we've been home 5 days). She had wandered in Saturday and saw / sniffed the head of the new little human (who was snoozing and not making a peep) but has been so nervous since she's stayed completely outside out the way!!

We left some of his worn clothes hanging on kitchen door handles so she can sniff them (when she sneaks in at night for food).

But was just going to let her grow in confidence over time, we've still been seeing her for a fuss so she knows she's loved, she's coming in for food, but she seems so nervous she just wants to run away outside currently.

Anything else we should do?

Charliej86 · 22/07/2015 18:53

Aww mrsf poor cat. I have a tom cat but he hasn't been phased at all so have no ideas of how to help. The dog has been good too, but we have to watch him when dad is having cuddles coz he gets jealous, he's OH's dog. They were bogof lol.

I have a really bad head today. I'm already taking top whack of paracetamol & ibuprofen every day for tear so can't take anything to help. X

MuddyWellyNelly · 22/07/2015 22:37

MrsF we are worried about this too. I'd say just lots of what you are doing. But also leave some of your stuff where she can smell it. Try to find time to give her attention when the LO isn't nearby at all. Does she like treats like dreamies? You could try rewarding her for being brave around the baby ie treats whenever they are in the room together? Also does she have safe high spots to retreat to? One of ours uses a high bookcase whenever our nephews are about.

I'd say the fact she has come back inside even slightly is a good thing. Chances are she will adjust to the interloper in her own time.

Getting slightly more BH today which I'm hoping is good. Nothing else really to get excited about though, apart from the odd pain down the way. I think I'm getting head butted Grin

Sherbet38 · 23/07/2015 08:05

Morning all. MrsF the monitoring was fine and they did let me go home after about 4 hours. I rang up that evening for the last set of blood tests, liver function, and they were fine too.

So last night I had another curry, pineapple and more bouncing on a ball!

Contractions woke me up at about 4am this morning ...was getting them about every 10-12 mins till 6am. They're now 6-8 mins apart, so I'm hoping they stick around. Off for a bath and breakfast, I'm starving! Come on baby, don't want to get to tomorrow's induction Wink

jmojo · 23/07/2015 08:23

Go baby sherbet!!

LaLaLaaaa · 23/07/2015 08:24

MrsF - I work in animal welfare and wrote a piece on cats and new babies recently. Give her space to approach when she's ready, the new sights, smells and noise of newborn can be confusing and scary. Provide somewhere she can retreat to and hide that is hers and baby free - if you can give her a room that she likes that's ideal but otherwise they like to be up high or a hidey hole.

Try to keep cats routine the same as always - they get upset by change. Letting her approach baby is good in her own time, don't tell her off just lots of praise and a treat when she approaches.

Space and time is the key - she will get used to it

I'll pm you some info but here also is some good advice:

LaLaLaaaa · 23/07/2015 08:28

Sherbert I'm so pleased for you! Good luck!

I had bloody show this morning and I've got cramps.

3 days til induction so I'm hoping that it's a good sign I'll go before.

41+2

LostSoulsForever · 23/07/2015 12:57

Hi ladies

I know I haven't been massively involved in the threads but I thought I would let you know baby LSF arrived safe & sound on Monday evening. She was in a bit of a hurry & ended up being delivered by my OH on the kitchen floor but it all turned out well, and I did want a home birth :)

She was 4 days late, 7lb 14ozs & is called Fearne.

Hope everyone else is well, I will continue to keep checking up dates (I have always been a lurker)!

charlieis30 · 23/07/2015 13:58

Afternoon all! Had 40w app, everything looks good but head only 2/5 engaged, MW thinks could easily be another week. DH and I are having a celebratory 40w Thai takeaway tonight then I'll be doing all the old wives tale tricks, don't fancy another week of this!

broodylicious · 23/07/2015 18:35

Congrats lsf! What a pretty name. One of the good/bad things about being at the back of the line in birth order is that there's so many lovely names I hadn't even considered now coming into play! How was your oh as a midwife? Gosh, must've been a shock for you both. Trust your kitchen isn't overlooked by neighbours?! Haha!

charlie, I'm hearing you on the not fancying the preggo life for much longer. I'm totally fed up now. 40+3.

Congrats LSF - good on your OH, not sure mine would be up to the task!

Good luck to lala and sherbert, sounds like more babies are on their way Grin

I know what you mean about names Broody, our "short"list seems to be getting longer by the day...

smallgreenbanana · 23/07/2015 19:38

Hi everyone, very quiet from me I know - good luck to everyone still waiting.

We made it home from hospital yesterday at last! Hard work this parenting thing isn't it. Thinking of you all. X

Raines100 · 24/07/2015 06:28

Ooo sherbert and lala sounds very exciting!

LSF congratulations! We've had a few dramatic entrances. Hope everything was ok. Very impressed with your DH!

Was my birthday yesterday. Was vaguely thinking I might get to share it but no such luck. Feeling v v tired and a bit tearful last night. Wanted to go out with DH but was just too tired. Not sleeping well at the mo. Don't know where I'm going to summon the energy for labour when it happens!

olympicsrock · 24/07/2015 08:13

Morning all. Baby olympics arrived on wednesday. Baby boy 7lb 3 oz a really sweet little chap who loves to be cuddled. Managing to move around if a bit sore à round wound. Bf easier than last time and ward care has been good. Home today .
Good luck to all waiting and sleep while you can.

broodylicious · 24/07/2015 08:19
