Quick update, I'm hanging on in there! Been fully dilated for several hours but contractions are tapering off every time I try to push. Feel fine due to having taken all the drugs known to man!!!!

broodylicious · 09/07/2015 19:47

Ooh cheeky baby penguin is loving it in there too much. Can almost hear them saying "just five more minutes mummy!" WinkWink Hopefully won't be too long for you hun x

Congratulations Captain! What lovely name choices we're getting.

Wondered if there was any news yet Arete. My DSiL was 11 days late in the end (induced at +10), and she was so fed up. Proved to be kind of worth it in the end as her baby was only 7lb at birth and clearly needed the extra cooking time. Hang in there Smile

Clstow · 09/07/2015 22:54

Congrats Captain and good luck to those in labour... I reckon tomorrow is gonna be a bumper day for babies Grin

JoY007 · 10/07/2015 00:04

Hi Ladies,
After a rather painful 3 day labour, baby was not making progress, i had a c- section. Our treasured prince was born at 2pm on 9th July weighing 7lb 5 ounces. We are both doing great, I am extremely sore and he does not know what to do with breast Grin. He decided to listen to mamma and not come on my birthday which is Friday 10th.

All the very best to the ladies still expecting their little ones. xxx

Aretepetite · 10/07/2015 00:11

Naturegirl82 · 10/07/2015 04:03

Wow lots gone on in the last few days. Congratulations to all new mummies and good luck to everyone in labour Smile

I've had an horrendous few days. Suddenly developed really bad back pain. My Midwife thought uti but maternity triage said I was in labour. I didn't believe them though but they were insistent. Went home and ended up back in yesterday morning for more tests and now they think it might be kidney stones (definitely not labour!!). Been on a drip as I couldn't keep anything down (haven't eaten for nearly 36 hours now) had anti sickness meds and more different types of pain relief than I knew existed! Not sure what the plan is, saw registrar last night and seeing consultant this morning where they will make a decision about inducing me! Not sure how I feel about trying to labour with the back pain though.

JoY007 · 10/07/2015 04:35

Oh no naturegirl all the very best. Hope it gets sorted soon.

Thank you arete Smile as my mum said last time I was in hospital on my birthday was the day I was born Grin

I am sore here, going to try and do loads of skin to skin, difficult with a sore lower half Sad.

Number3cometome · 10/07/2015 05:06

Congratulations Joy!

smallgreenbanana · 10/07/2015 05:14

joy Congratulations! Glad he finally made an appearance! Hope you recover swiftly Smile

nature Good luck with your appointment fx Sorry to hear you've been having such a tough time.

Saw MW for 40 week appt, everything OK but LO is still not engaged. She said it didn't mean I wouldn't go into labour at any time but still a bit disappointing! She also said my iron levels were borderline that the MW-led unit would not take me under 100 (level was 100 3 weeks ago). I'm planning a home birth but would still want the option of MW-led on the day, and no one mentioned this to me before, not even the MW at the unit! I've been taking 1 iron tablet rather than 2 to avoid side effects but I would have made a different choice if I'd known how critical my levels were. She seemed to think my levels would not have risen in 3 weeks of taking 1 tablet. Bizarrely they don't seem to have a problem accepting me as homebirth with 100! So now I am a bit annoyed but at least thankful nothing bad has actually happened yet. I think a long baby cooking runs in both families but I'm really bored and fed up because back pain (definitely not labour) and BH means I can't even enjoy nice long distracting walks now Sad Feeling a bit sorry for myself! Confused

SparklyPenguin · 10/07/2015 05:47

Baby has arrived safe and well! Sebastian finally made his appearance on the end of a large set of forceps at 6.45pm yesterday (9 July), weighing 7lbs exactly and we're totally in love already. Thanks for all of your well-wishes, labour was really really tough, but worth it to get to hold my little treasure!

SparklyPenguin · 10/07/2015 05:53

And massive congrats to JoY!

Fleurchamp · 10/07/2015 06:03

Wow lots of new babies! I am on the app and have the memory of a goldfish atm (anyone else have this?) and so I can't remember all the names!

Congrats to all the mummies, hope you recover well Flowers

broodylicious · 10/07/2015 06:10

Congrats to joy and sparkly! Lovely news to wake up to.

small, that's ridic about your iron levels possibly preventing you from the birth you want!! AngryAngry I'd be livid if I were you because your mw should've made all this v clear before week 40!! I had no idea an mlu wouldn't accept on that basis. High BP, yes, but not low iron! Crazy.

My normal mw was on hols this week for my 38 week appt and her stand in asked about my birth plans - said I wanted the birth centre next to the mat unit and she said they may not accept me as my bmi was high at booking....that's fine, apart from my weight, and therefore bmi, wasn't taken and noted until my 18 week appt so of course it looks high!! Real sickener is that it is just half a bmi point over their cut off limit so I'd be really peeved if I get turned away due to half a point!! She did say it all depends on who I speak to on the phone to tell them I'm on my way in and if they've got room but even so, I think it's a bit mean if I get refused.

LaLaLaaaa · 10/07/2015 06:10

Congratulations sparkly and joy!!!! And happy birthday Joy :)

All these babies...

I've been awake most of the night with lower back period pain on and off. It's very mild though so not sure if it's anything but I'd quite like this baby out now

Raines100 · 10/07/2015 06:32

Huge congrats Joy and sparkly, and happy birthday Joy. Sorry for the difficult labours but fully admire you for getting through.

Ooo nature hope they get that resolved for you and fast. Sounds horrible.

Hope you can have the births you were hoping for small and broody, but as long as your babies arrive safely, that's the main thing.

Maybe the beginning of something LaLa? Keep us posted.

I like waking up to baby news. This is good, this! Grin

Charliej86 · 10/07/2015 07:38

Congratulations to all the new babies and good luck to all the ladies in action.

Lots of our July babies have July mammies. Happy birthday ladies. Mine is Sunday. I'll quite happily share if it means he's out haha.
39weeks today.

ohlordyplordy · 10/07/2015 07:59

Congratulations joy and sparkly xxx

Aretepetite · 10/07/2015 08:14

Many congratulations Sparkly & welcome to the world baby Sebastian xx

Hope everything goes ok Nature

Aretepetite · 10/07/2015 08:15

Fx for your planned births to Broody & Lala xx

Fleurchamp · 10/07/2015 09:25

You're right charlie I am also a July baby Grin

broody I would try to speak to the MLU before you go into labour, I don't know about you but it would stress me out if I had to have the discussion when in labour!

I also had a borderline issue (fibroids) which, under old guidelines meant I would have to go to the labour ward but under new guidelines coming in in August(!) I am eligible for the MLU. I spoke to a senior midwife, she signed it off with a consultant and I have my referral Smile

I think they are supposed to take your weight at booking, so 10ish weeks - I too would be miffed if they took my weight at 18 weeks Shock

Naty1 · 10/07/2015 09:46

They took mine at the 12w scan, part of the downs screening.
Im now a day overdue (by 12w scan dates)
Having a sweep on tues.
Dd was several days early so seems odd to be waiting around.
Congratulations to those who've had their babies.

Raines100 · 10/07/2015 09:54
