MissMartin i've never seen it spelt like that, but Americans I know called Megan would always pronounce it that way.

AlohaMama · 08/07/2015 15:53

lily you've made me think that maybe I'm not crazy after all. Perhaps we will have an Ocean!!

kep1979 · 08/07/2015 16:02

There is an Ocean that works at the same place as me.

MaybeMrsMum2016 · 08/07/2015 16:02

Juniper Both my sister and brother-in-law are teachers so they really struggled to think of names. I don't know what their boy choice was, but I have a niece called Erica!

As for DH and myself, he really doesn't want a name he considers as 'royal', but I see them as good classic names. I also want to pick one that isn't too popular.

Scan went well today! Reception desk didn't pass info through to ultrasound dept that I'd arrived so scan ended up being almost an hour late. Not good when you're desperate for a wee but they apologised a lot.

Baby was wriggling away and gave us a few waves too. Measurements have moved my date a bit, thought I was due 16th, now due on 12th Jan.

Lovely scan picture maybe - congratulations on the scan.

Me and dh like names that are traditional too - others may think they are a bit pretentious but we like them Smile

MissMartin10 · 08/07/2015 16:09

aloha Oceans lovley Grin . . Meegan is pronounced mee-gan rather than meg-an.. im not convinced hehe!

MissMartin10 · 08/07/2015 16:13

Great news on your scan maybe Glad everything is well Grin Lovley picture!

Joey0805 · 08/07/2015 16:26

If I saw Meegan I would assume someone had misspelt Megan...

Aloha - pretty sure I ready today Jeff Goldblum's new kid has Ocean as a middle name!

BlueEspoir · 08/07/2015 16:26

Congrats Maybe - glad you got a few waves! You're now due the day before me Smile

I think Florrie is a lovely nickname.

Edgar - thanks for the additional tips. Totally agree re Nicolas and Thomas, and have also definitely ruled out Hannah, Holly and Helen! If we have a boy I'm going to push hard for John rather than Jean - not sure how a boy would like having a girl's name for a middle name! It's a bit fiddly choosing English and French-compatible names but on the up-side it helps narrow down the choice!

nicnicspicnic · 08/07/2015 16:28

Hope it all goes ok fisher I had my 12 w scan in the main Ultrasound dept because it was last minute and there was no space over in Maternity-so maybe that's the reason for you.

Juniper as a fellow teacher so many names have been ruled out because of children I have taught. I used to love Theo (eldest DS has it as a middle name) but after this year's class it's a definite no. I've got 3 DS and each has got 2 middle names so I think we've run out of ideas if this one is also a boy.

Romeolovesjuliet · 08/07/2015 16:50

Hope all is well fisher update us when you can.
Names, we probably won't have the discussion until 30+ wks going in last pregnancies and won't decide until baby is here. But we both like traditional, classic names and long names that can be shortened (agree 'royal' names are good classics and both my DCs have names that feature in the royal family although we have absolutely no royal intentions!).

fishermanswife1 · 08/07/2015 17:01

Thanks ladies.

Yes looking the PAPP was v. Low and the HCG very very high. I know it varies a lot between women and pregnancies so was just caught off guard when mw said it was the highest she'd ever seen and consultant wanted me in for scan as so high. Besides the Downes risk, which has been put on hold today, it was that high they wanted me in asap to check uterus for tumours or late molar pregnancy. But pleased that today's scan ruled both of those out. Phew.

They said "they're now scratching their heads as to why its that high", so I'm now consultant led and have to have more frequent scans to keep an eye on my placenta and make sure it's behaving itself.
Beyond that, we know we've still got fair odds with the Downes result, but will still be booking a harmony test.

fishermanswife1 · 08/07/2015 17:02

Right, that's my update done.
Lovely names on here ladies!!

At the moment, we like...
Boy: Peter or William
Girl: Olivia (Livia), Eva, Emilia or Elodie

MaybeMrsMum2016 · 08/07/2015 17:11

Ahh fish you might be a name stealer! I like Peter as a middle name (my favourite uncle/godfather is a Peter) and I love Emilia. DH says I spelled it wrong and it should be Amelia. Which is also nice but I prefer the slightly more unusual and less common version.

I hope you carry on getting great consultant info and support fish.

BlueEspoir · 08/07/2015 17:13

Glad to hear that the scan was positive Fisherman - sounds like they're going to keep a nice close eye on you. Love your choices of girls' names - we clearly have very similar taste!

Lookingforadvice123 · 08/07/2015 17:17

Oops just ate my 3rd or 4th pepperami in the last couple of weeks, then realised oh hang on maybe I shouldn't eat those! Googled it and it says mixed reviews, it's a cured meat so generally the guidance is no, but it's also pasteurised??! I guess I'll know pretty soon if I've got listeria or not from it, no more for me now!

Oysterbabe · 08/07/2015 17:27

FX for you fisher.

Top of our lists for names currently are Xander for a boy and Molly for a girl. These are v likely to change Grin

Phizpop · 08/07/2015 18:05

loveulots another alternative for Florence is Flossie.

maybemrs glad your scan went well, counting the hours till mine, itsiteven encouraging seeing lots of lovely scan pics!

fisher sounds such an emotional time, but sounds like they will be keeping a close eye on you!

Name wise we are split on girls name. DH loves 2,but they are the full names of two of my best friends... He doesn't understand why I find that strange. Compromise may be alternative spelling but we shall see! Boys are so much harder to come by. DH thinks it's decided but I want to look properly once seen the scan!

FizzyPinkWine · 08/07/2015 18:46

Keeping fingers crossed for you fisher. Hopefully they'll be able to find out what's going on soon.

Names wise for a boy we'll be going with Frederick Anthony after my grandad and dad. For a girl we'll be going with Rose but not sure of the middle name!

nicnicspicnic · 08/07/2015 18:56

Congrats maybe on your scan. We share a due date.

For boys names, with my DS, we have always gone for fairly traditional ones but for some reason I really like the names Arrietty and Amelie for girls. My OH will probably be hoping for another boy when he hears this!

fourlegstwolegs · 08/07/2015 19:09

Hi all, congrats on happy scans and what relief for those who had scary Downs stats that turned out to be ok.
I'm only about 10 1/2 weeks so no scan yet, have been feeling sick all day every day for the last month and now have tonsilitis too! Feeling very sorry for myself!
Having a harmony test on Monday - convincing myself of the worst which is absurd I know but can't help it!

MissMartin10 · 08/07/2015 19:59

does anyone else feel really full and bloated all the time? i feel really uncomfortable l

fishermanswife1 · 08/07/2015 20:01

Loving the names you ladies are listing.
Yes maybe they're good names! My DH preferred Amelia too. Though today he announced he's gone off it as there's some disorder called Amelia syndrome. I have no idea and think it pretty morbid to think like that, but it does mean he now prefers Emilia do I'm staying quiet.

My faves are Livia (DH thinks officially it should be Olivia) and Eva. We used to say our first daughter would be Evelynne. But someone we know called their daughter this last year, and you wouldn't believe people felt the need to comment that was originally a male name. So we've had a turn around.

fishermanswife1 · 08/07/2015 20:02

missM yes. I find walking the dog helps.

Anyone had harmony in Bristol?

aliquid · 08/07/2015 21:06

Goodness fisher what a medical conundrum. At least as others have said you'll get a lot of monitoring while they try and get to the bottom of it but what a lot of stress you don't need, hope you get some answers soon.

Ah names. We really struggled with boys names last time, changed our minds several times and only properly decided just before ds was born. Ended up with slightly unusual name with a fab nickname and I love it. Trouble is, not sure how we can match it! The girls name we had last time which we'd always said we'd use DH has gone off so back to the drawing board there but girls are easier for us to agree on (it'll be another boy now!) I'm really loving Penelope but not sure if the fact that a kardashian chose it is enough to put me off! They've got another five years in the limelight maximum right so maybe it won't matter?!
