For all those lovely bumps incubating until last few days of Oct and all November, spilling possibly over to December for the super comfortable babies- come and chat, rant, vent, chant, glow, sweat, watch nails grow whilst doing antenatal pilates/yoga/sleeping/eating/navel gazing and over analyse to your hormones content!

Optional - FB group is up and bumping, PM me with email to be added.

Hey I have just joined mumsnet , my names Becky , I am 38+4 , baby due on 17th November, been having pains last week think it is just practise pains , tightenings and period like pains , mainly happen on a night time ! Xx

TakesTwoToTango · 07/11/2015 15:30

Hi Becky. Good luck! Hopefully the practice pains will ease and speed delivery when the time comes Smile

dgcoco5 · 08/11/2015 00:08

Hi I'm 39wks today -had a sweep this morning -MW said my cervix was soft & dilated 1-2cm which is seen as a good sign . I'm due for induction next week but really hoping baby comes before then ! How many of you had sweeps & how long did it take for labour to come ??

austengirl · 08/11/2015 08:41

Becky I've had similar pains the last couple days. I'm 40 weeks today, so I hope it's not too much longer before they become the real thing.

Becky899 · 09/11/2015 14:40

Had a bit of a fright this morning , thought my waters had broken , when got out of bed felt some fluid coming away , so when to the hospital to get it check out , was sure they were gonna say I was dilated but said cervix was still closed and long and no evidence that waters had broken :( feel deflated now and got myself geared up that this was the start of something.
And now I feel it is going to be ages of my cervix wasn't even open.

TakesTwoToTango · 09/11/2015 15:12

Becky, don't be disheartened! All an exam tells you is a snapshot of that moment in time. It does not predict the future and women dilate/labour at different speeds.

TakesTwoToTango · 09/11/2015 15:15

Coco - same applies to you too really I'm afraid. 1-2cm is a great sign that your body is getting ready, but doesn't tell you if things will progress soon or not much for days. Sorry if that's not what you wanted to hear! I think sweeps can help move things along if you are ready but not if you are not, and there's no way of knowing which category you are in. I had a sweep at 39+5, was 1-2cm and it did nothing... Fingers crossed you have more luck!

Becky899 · 09/11/2015 15:27

I'm just worried that what if it was my waters breaking , and the risk of infection now etc , cos it can still break even if your cervix is closed , and I've never had any leaking of anything during this pregnancy

TakesTwoToTango · 09/11/2015 16:53

It can, but it's less likely to break with your cervix closed than open. If it is waters, it will keep on coming as they regenerate constantly. A good test is to lie down for an hour and then stand up and see if you have any run out (it often pools when you are lying down, plus gravity moves babies head away from sealing the cervix so water can escape. If you are still worried, go back to maternity triage and ask them to check again.

Becky899 · 09/11/2015 17:43

I've had nothing since that first gush this morning , so don't think it was my waters X

dgcoco5 · 10/11/2015 13:35

Thanks Tango . Don't think the sweep worked :-( so now dreading the induction on Sat if no sign of baby yet !I was convinced this one would come early because my DS2 was 2 wks early & it was a quick labour too ! But this one is my first with my new Dp -seems baby is just stubborn & laid back like his dad !

dgcoco5 · 10/11/2015 13:37

Becky -hope it happens for you soon ! Good luck x

TakesTwoToTango · 10/11/2015 14:41

Coco there's still a lot of time before Saturday - don't lose hope! And inductions aren't always bad, esp if you've had a natural birth before.

Zamaz · 11/11/2015 17:47

Hi all, thought I'd come and introduce myself and hopefully make some friends to share the final weeks of pregnancy, the joys of birth and beyond that the unknown world of having another human to care for! Am 38+3 today with my first, due 23rd November. Nice to meet you all!

SnozzberryPie · 11/11/2015 21:34

Found you all! Hope everyone is getting on OK. I am officially full term as of midnight tonight, very exciting.

Coco I hope the baby comes along before you have to go in for induction.

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 11/11/2015 21:37

That's great news Snozzberry I felt I could relax a little once 37 weeks, hope you can too.

I hope everyone is doing well.

Newborn and toddler is crazy, and its hard to recover physically and keep everything going, always someone awake. But it's great seeing the relationship between them emerge and it's getting easier.

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 11/11/2015 21:38

Forgot to say welcome Zamaz

SnozzberryPie · 11/11/2015 22:59

Glad all is well abbey.

Welcome zamaz!

I celebrated my almost fulltermness today by buying the stuff I need for a home birth, which is now a possibility (all else being well).

austengirl · 12/11/2015 08:58

Hi zamaz!

Coco my fingers are crossed your baby gets a move on.

What did you end up buying Snozzberry?

40+4 today and no change. Went to an aqua natal class yesterday which was lovely. Hope I'm not in a position to go next week! Membrane sweep booked for Monday.

TakesTwoToTango · 12/11/2015 11:43

Welcome Xanax.

Congrats on termness snozzberry.

Hope things are going ok coco.

39+4 here a and no signs yet.

Hope the Aqua does the trick Austen!

SnozzberryPie · 12/11/2015 11:54

Austen I already have a pool from last time so I just needed something to cover the floor (dust sheets from £land), fake tealights (real ones are a bad idea as they could get knocked over a mirror (so that you can see the baby coming out!) and some inco pads - not the most glamorous selection!

dgcoco5 · 12/11/2015 14:10

Welcome Zamaz !

How's everyone else doing with the waiting game ? Still no signs yet at my end ! ..done a bit of housework , went for a walk & bored with daytime TV! ...
Come on baby don't keep us waiting any longer !....

dgcoco5 · 16/11/2015 12:20

Finally my DD is here !..arrived on same day of induction -pessary was in at 10.30 -3 hrs later went into labour -she arrived 2 hrs after it started weighing 8lb 7oz !! Labour was so intense I nearly ripped my OH t-shirt in process !!..feeling knackered but very blessed to have such an adorable DD Smile

TakesTwoToTango · 16/11/2015 13:58

Congratulations coco!!! Glad the induction was a success.

I'm 40+1 here and no signs yet but feel in myself that it's getting closer.

SnozzberryPie · 17/11/2015 09:44
