For all those lovely bumps incubating until last few days of Oct and all November, spilling possibly over to December for the super comfortable babies- come and chat, rant, vent, chant, glow, sweat, watch nails grow whilst doing antenatal pilates/yoga/sleeping/eating/navel gazing and over analyse to your hormones content!

Optional - FB group is up and bumping, PM me with email to be added.

Abbey I know what you mean, it is hard to accept that so much about pregnancy and childbirth is out of our control. There are things you can do to improve the odds but so much of it is luck. And hospitals bring their own frustrations . Flowers

My hospital have also lost my notes from dds birth but I have a copy which I requested under data protection soon after I gave birth. On this occasion my control freak tendencies have paid off!

stace1986 · 11/09/2015 20:35

Snozzberry do you have to pay for your notes? I would like a full copy of my maternity notes but wasn't sure how to go about it.

SnozzberryPie · 11/09/2015 22:33

Yes but it wasn't lots, just the cost of photocopying. You can request them under the data protection act and there should be an address on your NHS trust's website.

When I requested mine it took them a lot longer to arrive than they should have done so request them asap!

austengirl · 11/09/2015 22:42

Abbey I can't imagine how frustrating it all is. I hope your normal consultant is more helpful and you actually get your notes.

Chic I know what you mean about neutrals. Boots has a few lovely bright things, but I've got an awful lot of white/cream.

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 12/09/2015 10:11

Snozzberry that's a good idea, good you've got your notes. I do wonder about all this note losing - it seems to be those that have had a bad time of it that have their notes lost, I wonder if they resist handing them over in case of complaints?

The notes are more for this hospital than for me, as I've been through DS's birth with a psychologist and am as over it as I'm going to be. The consultant and midwives just keep asking me stuff that's only in the notes e.g. about DS's jaundice level, what my reaction to the blood was, how much I had etc and I don't have a clue!

Chic I'll second that Boots are good for bright neutrals. I've also found good stuff in tk maxx. You have to look in both the boys and girls sections though.

stace1986 · 12/09/2015 10:41

Thanks Snozzberry. I am waiting for a follow up appt with the consultant so was going to wait until after that but think I'll get straight onto it.

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 17/09/2015 20:00

How is everybody?

So, today I went to see the other consultant and it was cancelled. I got very cross indeed as the last consultant wouldn't decide anything and said see this one. And this one was cancelled because I'd seen her.
After getting very cross indeed and saying I needed to see someone today I'm now under a senior consultant who was very nice indeed. Very happy and confident I'm being looked after now. Fortnightly appointments until delivery.
Also after a load of VBAC pressure / stress he was just like "what do you want to do?" and signed off my c section. Very easy - I was ready with research studies highlighted, NICE guidelines etc.
So overall, a good day Smile

TakesTwoToTango · 18/09/2015 16:15

Yey! Very good news abbey Grin

All well here. Feeling rather large but measuring okay for my dates (coming up 32 weeks). After the all clear on gd I've now been told to 'go easy' on the carbs/sugar, so am trying really hard but finding it tough to resist the constant cravings for sweet things and potatoes. Am already at my full term weight from my last of though, so I really do need to keep a lid on it.

Hope all is well with everyone else.

ChicBabyP · 19/09/2015 20:13

Glad to hear your good news abbey. So happy for you about your section, i know how worried you've been.

Takestwo, i hear you on being hard to stay away from carbs and sugar in general. I always find at the end of pregnancy you just give up on healthy foods and want to eat comfort food only. Good luck trying to restrain yourself!!

I just cry when i weigh myself and measure my belly, i'm so incredibly big ( especially as i am quite slim in general so it all shows way more). I also feel like an old lady, can't stand or walk more than a few minutes, it's getting more difficult everyday... Not sure i will hold out another 4.5wks till my c-section. Anyways, i'll probably go into labour earlier... Been having quite a few BHs and general cramping.

Hope everyone is doing well.

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 19/09/2015 20:21

Thank you both, I'm so relieved. Especially as my situation is complicated by the blood antibodies. So with a planned section they can have my blood matched and ready (transfusions are complex for me now) and be ready to test baby's blood and give transfusion to her if needs be. Basically I feel confident that everything and everyone we need will be in that room, whereas with a birth at any time they would have to call up the staff etc.
Of course something could happen before then but I'll try not to worry about that!

TakesTwo that must be tough staying away from all that stuff not sure I'd have the willpower!

Chic it must be especially tough with twins. Remind me, how far are you now and how far are they letting you go until?

SnozzberryPie · 19/09/2015 20:54

Abbey that's great news, one less thing to worry about.

II haven't weighed myself but I had to measure my waist to buy some trousers online and it was a metre around my bump (I'm 5'2 and normally a 10-12) Shock. I measure just right for dates though.

I am craving carbs and cake now too. I've just had the lucozade test done and I'm waiting for results and I am terrified of being put on a cake ban!

austengirl · 20/09/2015 09:43

I hear you on the cake front, I've been baking like crazy the last couple months and also doing a cookie bakeoff (that someone else challenged me to Hmm). So hard not to snack on sweet things.

Abbey I'm really glad this consultant is being helpful and you sound much less stressed for having the plans in place. Hope things continue to go smoothly.

Chic I'm starting to feel more ungainly every day and weighed myself last night--think it's more than I've ever weighed in my life! Shock hang in there Flowers

Snozzberry, where did you order your trousers from? Think I'm going to need some soon and the ones in shops are all too long.

Had a bit of a wobble Fri night lying awake at 4am. I'm finding it harder to sleep generally, though I went to an osteopath for PGP on Thu, which has helped but not eliminated the pain. Caved and bought a dream genii pillow at tk maxx which DH grumped about the cost, but the lack of sleep is starting to get to me and if something helps, I'll do it. He's also had a chest infection which means coughing loudly throughout the night, so neither of us got much sleep. That, panicking about how on earth I'm going to care for a baby and feeling nowhere near prepared about having the stuff we need in advance added up to a shaky Saturday morning. DH felt bad about keeping me awake and promised we would get things sorted in time. He's crossed a few items off our to do/buy list and is doing more today, so that's something. We had a nice afternoon with friends and the sun is shining today, so I hope normal service has resumed for a little while.

SnozzberryPie · 20/09/2015 17:06

I bought some of these, no idea what they will be like!

Is the dream genii pillow good? I've got an ordinary bolster one which does seem to help.

ChicBabyP · 21/09/2015 09:32

abbey, i am just over 32wks and they're letting me go up to 37 wks. But it's really becoming hard now. I hate complaining but carrying twins is SO much harder than a singleton. I feel like i haven't been able to enjoy this pregnancy, whereas with dd i loved every second of it.

Seeing consultant again tomorrow so we'll see how things are going. They'll probably check me weekly now.

snozzberry, i passed the metre mark a while agoShock (and i'm usually a size 6-8). That was a very depressing day....

austengirl, i hear you on the sleeping front. A long pillow is a life saver at this stage. I have mine going up my back to keep me propped up on the side otherwise i end up on my back with my belly pulling sideways and in pain. i hope you sleep better now.
And crossing off things from the to do list is so satisfying!! You'll feel much better and less anxious as you get things done. I just ordered the last bits this weekend and now i feel i can breathe!

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 21/09/2015 09:54

Chic complain away, I bet it's so much harder than one!

I must say I've found the second pregnancy physically harder, both singletons, I guess my muscles are ruined from the first, plus less time to rest. Still, in the home straight now. People keep saying "it's easier the second time" to me. Um no. At least the first time I was blissfully naïve Wink

TakesTwoToTango · 28/09/2015 00:02

Chic, I cannot imagine carrying two. Good luck to you. Every extra day is a bonus and hopefully the doctors won't push you further than you can bear.

Austen - it will all be fine. Even if there are still a few bits on the 'to do' list when the baby arrives, it will all be fine! With my first I just could not mentally contemplate life after delivery, but it does go on: slowly, haltingly but surely!

Thanks for the moral support re the sugar/carbs. I started really well and then lapsed rather, but I figure any reduction in what I was eating before/what I'm tempted to eat now, is a good thing and I'm trying to focus on the positive steps rather than the slips. Also managing a bit more exercise and can feel the difference so am holding on to the fact that every little bit just might help me in labour (I hope!).

Thinking of you all. Some of us are getting very close to term now I think!

ChicBabyP · 01/10/2015 15:50

Thanks takestwo. Managed to reach 34 weeks which according to my dr is great as babies wouldn't normally need NICU anymore, only transitional care if anything. But at the last scan they were both estimated to be weighing over 2 kg which i'm really happy about. I'd obviously want them to stay put another 3 wks (my section date) for their own sake but i have to admit that i am more than ready for them to make an appearance.
I wonder how Guy is doing as she is also expecting twins but haven't seen her on here in a while...

Hope everyone is doing ok. Not very long to go now that we are in october!

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 01/10/2015 19:22

I'm on here and the Facebook and Guy is doing well, but I think like you finding it hard going with twins.

I had a bad day today. My antibodies have risen rapidly and are nearly at the level of needing the baby out. Each blood test result is a bit behind though, so that level is from 3 weeks ago so it could be higher now. I'm going in next week to get the latest results and have been told to bring DH with me - stupidly I didn't ask why but I guess for moral support or in case I need to deliver?

The consultant also completely changed from last time and started putting pressure on to VBAC. Last time he was happy with ELCS. I'm a bit confused and fucked off. Still, that's not really a worry compared to the bloods so trying to park that to think about later

TakesTwoToTango · 01/10/2015 22:24

Oh abbey I'm sorry about the blood results. Yes, I'd guess DH to be with you so you can make decisions together about delivery/be admitted there and then. Maybe mentally prepare yourself for that and anything better is a bonus? I hope you are coping okay?

Chic how are you feeling? 34 weeks is a great milestone!

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 02/10/2015 10:33

I'm OK thank you TakesTwo just a bit annoyed they haven't been doing the recommended 2 weekly blood tests on time and I'm worried about the baby. It can cause HDN which can be fatal. I now have a moderate chance of that disease being present in the newborn. It's difficult isn't it? Want to be thinking positively but also be prepared for what might happen

TakesTwoToTango · 05/10/2015 17:46

Big hugs abbey. Thinking of you.

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 08/10/2015 18:33

How is everyone?

Good news here, my blood levels have gone down. Also DH has antibodies so 50% chance the baby does too, in which case there's no problem. And after 37 weeks of VBAC pressure I've finally got my EMCS signed off. PHEW!

It's still a bit worrying, but they've booked me in for a day when they'll have all the relevant staff there in case baby is sick, order in my rare blood etc. So I feel so much better it's going to be done in a planned controlled way and baby almost fully cooked Smile

Although if something happens naturally beforehand that could be chaotic but will have to see what happens there

Unthoughtknown · 08/10/2015 18:54

Good to hear abbey.

I have a cough which is making sleep difficult. Three more days left in work, Im so glad I didn't attempt to work to 38 weeks, I'm blinking knackered!

Chic how are you? How many weeks are you now?

austengirl · 08/10/2015 22:15

That's really good to hear Abbey. I hope everything goes smoothly and according to plan.

Chic how are you doing? And you takestwo?

Hurrah to finishing work Unthoughtknown--I have two weeks left from tomorrow and I am counting down the days. Next week is going to be mental, but I'm getting a massage on Saturday then squeezing in one last haircut before baby arrives, so at least I have a few treats to look forward to. Plus dinner with other pregnant ladies tomorrow night.

doomclaw · 09/10/2015 18:57

Finally managed to reset my password so can catch up here.

Counting down to finishing work on 29th. At the beginning of the week that didn't seem too far away but feeling more tired and uncomfortable this week so it suddenly feels like an age. I actually don't want to finish earlier as I suspect that 3 weeks at home (even if I don't go overdue) is going to be enough for me.

chic hope all is ok with you - sounds like you might be the first to give birth from this group.
