Ladies. Please! Your MAKING A BABY. It's effing AMAZING! You are not fat. YOU ARE PREGNANT. This is a totally unique, brilliant, awe inspiring moment in your life that will be over before you know it. Please don't let society's absolutely ridiculous standards of 'beauty' for women make you stop enjoying this time. Adore your bump - it's your baby, a person, and not fat.

I agree, I keep wishing my bump were bigger! (Mainly because people keep saying how small it is)

I love seeing bump grow :)

Don't get me wrong- I love my little bump! Just wish clothes fit me properly!!

ambientolf · 20/05/2015 20:52

I am really struggling at the mo with my size. I know it's daft & im creating issues for myself but I can help but wish I was slimmer & got pregnant as now I am just huge! Just trying to console myself that I will loose the weight after baby & as people have pointed out its amazing what our bodies can do. I dont even mind the stretchmarks I'm getting! I just wish I wasn't as big as I think I am going to be very overweight after he's born xx

DeladionInch · 20/05/2015 21:02

Dp and I think I'm actually smaller this time, most likely due to baby wearing. I was the same weight of 11st at booking in, but am a full dress size smaller. The only answer is that I have stronger internal muscles making me slimmer but counteracting that by weighing the same as the flab I lost! So there's no reason not to improve your health, shape and own opiniyof yourself after birth

sauvblanc21 · 20/05/2015 23:09

craftynanny - H&M - heaven! Nipped in on Sunday and we had just 20 mins before John Lewis nursery appt, I rapidly tried on tons and bought nearly all of it! Really nice beige or blue summery trousers, and short versions of the same, even found some smart-ish navy cropped trousers for work. Plus smart shirt, and nice floaty tops & dresses. Bliss. I am so much happier now, ohhhh the comfort Smile Not sure what size you are but I can confirm for size 10/12 and 22 weeks, H&M is a godsend! Xx

lastnightiwenttomanderley · 21/05/2015 05:30

I love my bump - I'm a petite size 4-6 and normally find that those sizes fit my bum and hips but gape ridiculously at my waist Now they actually fit me without the need for some sort of elaborate rigging to hold them up Smile

Lauramum23 · 21/05/2015 07:27

Hello everyone! Don't know if you remember me!? I still recognise some of your names on here, anyway I'm just popping on to say I was on your September group but now I'm on November! I had a mc and then caught on straight away! But I didn't want to put anything on here till I had a 12 week scan, I have and I'm due 24th November ( I was due 29th ish of September).
Anyway hope you don't mind Smile and nice to see you are progressing nicely xx

monkeymoonpig · 21/05/2015 07:58

maths have you seen anyone about change of movements? I had a really active baby up until few weeks ago, DP felt kicking at around 21wks but since then - much quieter. I did ask mw (seen them twice since) and they were lovely and checked heartbeat etc even though apparently they're not meant to do reassurance checks yet, ive come to the conclusion baby gas turned and possibly even moved placenta so now i don't feel as much. I do still feel them move though, just less often and not as hard. If you're worried, pls go and get checked, of only for your own sanity! I know my BP was go mental if i hadn't have had that reassurance both times x

monkeymoonpig · 21/05/2015 08:08

*has not gas

  • also, incase anyone thinks im a complete obsessive nutter i do at times the 2nd mw appt was routine BP check before coming on holiday, but it was a great excuse to hear heartbeat again :)
DeladionInch · 21/05/2015 08:29

Day 2 of stinking headache and it's lots worse today. Going to get ds to preschool then call my mW. Not sure if there's anything to worry about or anything she can do. Paracetamol not touching it

Hi, I dropped off the thread, so just hopping back on....

I'm scared I've put too much weight on (2 stone already!) But not a lot I can do and as I was size 10 before with bmi in the low end of normal I'm not going to get too upset about it...(big lie. I totally am).

As others have said, I'm making a human and thats amazing!

However, I wish my clothes still fitted better. I have one pair of mat trousers that fit... Will be living in them at work I think! To hell with my old 'rule' to wear something different every day in a month.... stupid bloody rule anyway, all down to my own vanity.

As for birth planning - I've still not got beyond the "go with the flow" plan...though will talk to my husband about what we do if we have to be separated. That seems important to nail down. Also been reading about pethadine and how it can affect milk flow so would personally feel better not to have it.

Otherwise all ok. Have a stinker of a cold though and am missing cold and flu tablets! I never realised how much they make you feel better before! Lemon, honey and ginger does help with sore throat though and tastes better than lemsip!!! Also, not gone to work for 3 days because of cold... would have totally soldiered on if I wasn't pg!

Lovelybitofsquirrel · 21/05/2015 10:15

Deladion I've had bad headache and a temperature since Sunday night, went to gp Monday, looks like it's a virus but they were very good checking me out for other things too. Can you get a same day gp appt? Hope your headache eases quickly, it's horrible.

Couldn't get "my" mW so rang the unit. They were fab I cried said paracetamol and rest and if worse get a gp to prescribe something stronger. I have had a cold all week, just hate that every time I stand up or move too fast I feel like a boiled egg that someone's slicing the top off Hmm

I had 3 bags last time. A small labour bag, a small baby bag and a bigger Oh Fuck They're Keeping Me In bag. The OFTKMI stayed in the car but dp could fetch bits I needed as and when. This time I'm taking a decent sling and keeping something nice aside to change into after birth!

llama well done on potty training! DS has just turned 3 and has been using potty on and off since xmas but not really bothering about it. We're away on holiday this week and ive worked really hard to encourage him to go without nappies and we're doing well! Have managed to get him to wee standing up and to go in toilet (my two main aims) so im chuffed to bits Grin

bonzo77 · 21/05/2015 16:57

delad headaches are awful aren't they. I used to suffer very very badly before DCs but nowhere near as bad since pregnant with DS1. I took quite a bit of codeine while pregnant that time for back pain, so may be that is an option.

We finally exchanged on our house sale / purchase yesterday and are moving on the 11th June. Finally! Hoping to get new kitchen and bathrooms in before baby comes, but not banking on it. Meanwhile, half term next week and very much looking forward to our Butlins trip!

Hadn't really thought about hospital bag yet. DH pretty much knows what we need if I don't get organised in time, and we have pretty much everything I'd need initially. Just nappies and maternity pads to buy and keep a spare phone charger in my handbag, can send DH home for everything else. Assuming I'll get some advance notice of my CS (I had 3 days last time) so can organise it then.

Saw this and thought of you lot Wink

Congratulations Laura That's so lovely to hear.

I agree with ovum completely on the bump/being big thing. This is an amazing time, we're not fat we're pregnant! Even if you buy in to the media myth of what is attractive, which is frankly mad anyway, you can't apply those rules now. I seemed to show much earlier than expected for my 1st and many people have commented, and thought I was further on, or "are you sure there's just one!" but I don't mind. I love my bump! I put on 2 thirds of my weight gain so far in the first 12 weeks which made me a touch nervous, but it's evened out now and is mostly bump and boobs. I don't expect to be really small, I'm a UK size 12. At the moment I admit to being lucky on being mostly bump (even though I'm massive)but I know it won't stay this way.

Did find the difficulty bending and moving kicked in earlier than I expected which was surprising.

Those of you frustrated by having to walk slower, don't forget your heart is already working 40% harder than usual, even before you exercise. You may be pregnant not ill, but you're not in your normal state either!

ovumahead · 21/05/2015 19:27

I've just discovered it's 16 weeks til my dye date. That just doesn't seem long at all! Eek!

ovumahead · 21/05/2015 19:27

Due, not dye, obviously!
