Congratulations shoot.

BonzoBaby3 arrived by ELCS on Tuesday 1/9/15 weighing 5lb14, the biggest of all my babies! Stayed in 2 nights as they wanted to ultrasound his head (it's very small, 0.2 percentile compared with 4th for the rest of him). All ok. And I think on principal I've managed to persuade DH to have a 4th....

FluffyNut · 06/09/2015 03:08

Well it looks like my whinge earlier worked. At 1:20am my waters broke. I'm now sat in bed under instructions to get some rest until 8am. not very easy to rest when I'm too excited! Well here goes ...

ShootTheMoon · 06/09/2015 09:22

Ooh congratulations bonzo! What week did you get to? Fabulous to be a Sept 1st baby!

And fluffy I hope you are doing ok! Very wise to get some rest if you can! Are you waiting to labour naturally or will you go in for augmentation? (I am newly well versed in this! It was about 5 hours between waters breaking and contractions starting for me). I think it's something like 86% of women go into labour within 24 hours.

Good luck!

bonzo77 · 06/09/2015 18:58

any news fluffy?

shoot i was 37+5. i was all geared up for another nicu / scbu experience but nothing of the sort materialised, thank goodness! september 1st was sort of intentional, it was always the goal once the developmental milestone dates in pregnancy had been reached. i'm certain, based on my own experience, that it would make his school career, and possibly as a result some aspects of the rest of his life a bit easier.

apologies for rubbish typing: i'm holding a baby!

ShootTheMoon · 06/09/2015 23:26

Oh bonzo that's fab Smile. How is your little one? My boy is so sleepy compared to my DC1 who was born at 41 weeks, she had her eyes open much more. I guess those few weeks make a big difference.

He actually has a pretty tight tongue tie. Feeding is painful as he latches but I'm being ultra careful about how he feeds in the hope of avoiding blistering, and so that he doesn't swallow too much air.

bonzo77 · 07/09/2015 08:46

He's actually a bit of a dream baby. Eats well (unlike my first), sleeps ok (unlike my second). Only fed once last night and not at all the night before. Settles easily. No sign yet of reflux (unlike my second). Has returned to his birth weight apart from one ounce. He's a bit jaundiced but I'm sure that will pass.

Are you doing to get your dad's tongue tie seen to? Round here you can get it assessed and treated privately at home for around £150 or there's a walk in clinic at a major hospital.

ShootTheMoon · 07/09/2015 14:06

He does sound like a dream baby!

We have actually just been admitted back into hospital as he has jaundice - his levels have gone up from day 3. He's under the UV light now and we'll be here for a day or two but hopefully his levels will come down. His SATS weren't great either, but he's been feeding well and has lots of wet and dirty nappies. He lost about 150g so well within the normal 10%.

It's possible the TT is affecting his feeding (though the nappies indicate he's feeding well), so it may need dealing with sooner rather than later. We had my DD's done privately by Dr Levinkind but we can see how long an NHS referral would take.

His TT is worse than hers though, and he looks to have a lip tie too.

If your little one is a bit yellow then you may need to wake him to feed a bit more often - they have told me we can't go more than 3 hours.

bonzo77 · 07/09/2015 20:24

Yes, I'm waking him during the day to feed, around every 2-3 hours, feeding at midnight and 7, and again in between if he wakes (he did last night). He's actually far more alert than my others were at this stage. So probably 8-10 feeds a day, formula fed. Midwife was ok with that and suggested lots of sunshine, which we are doing. Like yours he's pooing and wearing plenty. Rotten to be re-admitted though: I assume you are in with him.

Malcolm Levinkind used to have a children's dental clinic near me: I guess you are North London-ish too then?

ShootTheMoon · 07/09/2015 20:45

It sounds like you have a very happy baby there Smile.

Yeah, we're in a side room together, he is doing well and is more alert already. My BP has just spiked so they are now monitoring me too. We may never get out of here at this rate! I am determined to get a shower this evening though, it has been so hot and yucky.

We're in Oxfordshire but had to travel to Dr L as DD was 16 months when she had it revised and no where else would do it!

Havalina1 · 09/09/2015 02:40

Lovely to read the arrival updates! I'm
New to this thread. I'm due sunday13th.
Last few fights have been impossible to sleep. My system is getting active at night (toilet all night long) oh I'd love of it was the start of labour it I feel No such luck... Anyone else heavily pregnant and prowling around wide awake??

ElleyBear13 · 12/09/2015 18:09

Heyoo haven't logged in a while! I was on both august/september boards (due 25/08) as predicted my son was born after inducement on the 2/09/15 weighing 8lb7oz. Named him Arthur-James. Its gone so quick, reading all the excited posts about possible labour is making me want to do it all over again! Is there a september post natal thread yet? Congrats to all thread babies! x

ARV1981 · 14/09/2015 05:19

Hi all... I'm waiting for my baby now. In the hospital being induced!

It's taking ages. And I can't sleep...

bonzo77 · 14/09/2015 09:33

Good luck. Really try to rest as much as you can, easier said than done when you're excited about meeting your baby.

ARV1981 · 14/09/2015 20:11

I'm still waiting! Hopefully not long now though

FluffyNut · 17/09/2015 19:09

Hello all!!
Sorry for no earlier message, was quite an adventurous Sunday and am pleased to say I came home with baby Lucy on Monday!!!

So my birthing story if you'd like...
Waters sort of wished at 1:20 am Sunday, actually a bit like TV lol. My DH said that was a long wee baby and I replied it wasn't a wee....

After an exciting frantic phone call to MWU ( whilst DH calls his work to say he's not in for work on sun..) as I wasn't suffering any contractions to try and go back to bed. Well that's easier said than done!

Anyway woke about 8 (after finally snoozing at 4:30) and called MWU again. Still no pains etc so we agreed to Pop in at 11. Went for a brisk walk to shops and back but nothing

Saw MW at 11 who checked all ok with mum and baby and said we could stay in but up to us, so again agreed to check in at 5pm

Had Maccy D and went for a 3 hour Walk around the park and sat in the sun, then returned ho,e for a bath. At 9 we decided to go in as I was starting to feel some contractions and we took a steady trip to the mlu. The next two hours were lovely getting to know the MW on duty and pains were coming stronger, so we discussed using gas and air. She did an internal to see how far along things were and at 11 pm I was 2 to 3 cm, but the cervix was paper thin. (What ever that means)

Well, the exam certainly kicked things into action as my contractions ramped up ten fold and suddenly I realised what all the fuss was about. Th G and A became my new best friend. We decided we would like to try thr birthing pool just to ease the pain, and in between contractions which were really close together my DH and MW manoeuvred me into the pool.

I didn't intend to have a water birth, but at 1:30 ish I really felt the need to push. My MW was concerned as only two hours had passed and I probably wouldn't have dilated enough, but when she checked again she was surprised to see cervix had gone and head was there!

So then it was all systems go and time to push! I knew it was going to be painful but I knew it was time to meet my girl, so a few heaves and out she came. We had a water birth and I would really recommend it. My beautiful girl arrived at 1:48 am. She is now 10 days old. Breast feeding is going well and I am loving every minute of it, including many feeds!

Hope my story has helped anyone who's nervous and feel free to ask any questions x

Treaclepie19 · 19/09/2015 10:16

Hiya ladies, sorry I've been missing so long!
I updated the fb group and completely forgot I never did on here.
Our little one decided to meet us early. Waters broke at 37+3 and he arrived by forceps the next day.
Xander was born on the 2nd September at 3.42am weighing 6lb 15oz.
We are totally in love and just starting to get our routine sorted :)

Lovely news. Hope you are recovering well. Routine? What's that?! Says the former Gina Ford devotee!

Treaclepie19 · 19/09/2015 11:06

Thank you :) I'm getting there.
Haha, well... as much of a routine as you can have with a newborn :p
