Thanks HariboBrenshnio - yep, lots of different options out there, getting my head around it all. I'm quite keen on a birthing centre/mid-wife led care and waterpool (if possible/practical), but beginning to think might be a good idea for birthing centre to be attached to hospital - it's my first and I have no idea how it's gonna go. Shame as I've heard amazing things about Edgware Birth Centre (like you said, couches/TVs/balls/homely atmosphere), but not attached to hospital and quite far away. I've contacted UCH and Queen Charlotte about visiting. There seems to be some option to pay for a room after birth, but this doesn't seem very straight forward. Anyone else done or thinking about doing half NHS/half private? It's a minefield!!

Sweets27, WaitingforEgg is right - not silly at all and I'm sure I'd have been the same. Hang on in there hun.

Jcandy nice to hear we're in the same boat...probably vomming together at some point! I'm so shattered. I have final assignment and exam (MA) at end of June and keep worrying about when I'm gonna be able to get the work done. I might just have to wait until I'm feeling better before I can study again.

blueskygreengrass · 20/04/2015 15:27

Just discovered this website about maternity choices, which looks helpful www.which.co.uk/birth-choice

abi2790 · 20/04/2015 15:59

Welcome threebean!

You're definitely not being silly sweets. It's such a panicky time and I would be hysterical at the sight of any blood! At least you have your scan booked now for some reassurance!

Just got back from the doctor and no sign of any uti :) she sent off my urine to the hospital to test it though. It doesn't explain why I'm getting this burning pain in my back though. The doctor said it's just one of those early pregnancy annoyances.

NicNak22 · 20/04/2015 16:23

Ladies who have booking in appts already booked how much notice did you give.

I spoke to my surgery last week (at 4 weeks) and receptionist said to call back at 8 weeks for midwife appt.

Should I be calling soon?

Metalhead · 20/04/2015 16:34

Sorry about the spotting sweets, hopefully it's nothing to worry about though. Good luck with your scan!

I've just booked a private scan for 2 May when I'll be 8 weeks. I rang the hospital ultrasound department today to chase up the early scan referral from my GP and they said they hadn't received anything. So even if I manage to see him tomorrow and he refers me then, I very much doubt I'd get a scan appointment before the end of next week, which is the last date before my booking in appointment. (If by some miracle I do then I can always cancel the private scan.) So, the countdown begins!

shinysparklythings · 20/04/2015 17:40

Ooh we nearly need a new thread! It's interesting hearing about people's ideas for birthing.

sweets it's not silly at all, I would be panicking too, I still breathe a sigh of relief every time I go to the loo and there is no blood.

nik I self refered to the mid wife and rang up at 6 +3 to register with them got my booking in for 9+6. which seems like an age away

I felt so rough this morning, going to school was a real struggle! Get better as the day goes on just permanently exhausted.

Hope everyone else's Monday has been ok.

NicNak22 · 20/04/2015 17:57

shiny in going to call tomorrow abs get a booking in appt. I just want to have a date in the calendar.

Doesn't help that my job isn't pregnancy friendly so until work can find me something else to do in just sat at home. waiting

NicNak22 · 20/04/2015 17:57

And not abs

insideout · 20/04/2015 18:03

Hi ladies, congratulations on the bfp's! I am slipping quietly onto thread as According to my dates baby number 3 is due around the 12th December, am still reeling as i have an 8 month baby already.

Jebel · 20/04/2015 18:15

Hi everyone, so much happening on here. Will catch-up properly soon.

Welcome insideout

Not a good day for me. I lost my job, cost-cutting, news was delivered via Skype! I had to stop and go and throw up during the conversation. Very upset and a bit terrified, I am the bread winner so the timing is awful.

Jebel · 20/04/2015 18:18

sweets try not to worry, I think I said above that in my last pregnancy I spotted and then had heavy bleeds on and off for a few weeks. I had a haematoma and also a twin that didn't make it. It was frightening but all ok in the end with a healthy baby. I am sure you are counting the minutes to the scan, glad you can get one so soon x

Fizzie100 · 20/04/2015 18:42

Sweets you're not rambling at all, I completely understand your anxiety. From my previous MC experience what midwife is saying sounds spot on, spotting as opposed to actual period. Thinking of you and hope the scan is a reassurance x

On a separate note I don't suppose anyone knows if you've had MCs before if you can get an early scan through EPU to help anxiety?? Probably not. Just conscious my booking isn't til 10 weeks and scan sometime after that and I'm just petrified every time I go to the loo.

So nice to have somewhere to share fears and concerns etc, thanks to everyone for your replies x

Fizzie100 · 20/04/2015 18:47

Oh jebel I'm so sorry - thinking of you x

HariboBrenshnio · 20/04/2015 18:58

Fizzie - i MC in October and they told me at the time they wouldn't offer me an early scan unless there was cause for concern in my next pregnancy. Every EPU has different rules though so worth an ask. I'd have loved one! We're booking a private one for a fews days after the baby we lost stopped growing.

Jebel - how stressful! Not what you need right now. I really hope you can get something sorted quickly.

Congratulations to the newbies!

Spotting around 6 weeks is something to do with the cells that will be the placenta being formed apparently. It's also normal to spot when your next period would be due. I hope your scan puts your mind at rest.

I'm 5+5 and I'm so tired. Exhaustion is kicking in for sure. I think someone mentioned about not being able to finish a meal? I'm in the same boat too, feel super full after a few bites. I could lose a few pounds so it's not too bad Smile

Fizzie100 · 20/04/2015 19:03

Thanks Haribo I think I might do the same. When is good time do you think? 8 weeks? Unlikely to get nhs scan til 12 weeks....
I'm exactly the same re food and am also 5 + 5 ! Feel exhausted after half a meal and then SO bloated. Trying to ease the anxiety by reminding myself I didn't feel this way last time which ended in MC.
X

HariboBrenshnio · 20/04/2015 19:09

This pregnancy is so different to the one i MC with too. Lots more symptoms.
We've booked for 9+3 as baby stopped at 9+1. When did you MC? 8 weeks sounds good. Only 3.5 weeks from now and then 4 weeks until your 12 week scan so it breaks up the wait a lot Smile

Fizzie100 · 20/04/2015 19:14

I miscarried somewhere between 6 and 7 weeks so if I book for 8 I think that might be good. Need to speak to OH tonight and get his thoughts. Be great to at least see a little heartbeat even if tiny! X

abi2790 · 20/04/2015 19:41

So sorry to hear that jebel Flowers

I'm seeing the midwife next Wednesday when i'll be 8 +1 but when I booked the appointment it wasn't specified whether it's the booking in. I hope it is, I can't cope with all this waiting and nothing to looking forward to! With ds I saw the midwife at 6 then 8 weeks but this time there were appointments free until the 29th.

I know what you mean about the exhaustion. Ds is not helping by getting me up at 6am everyday :( and Game of Thrones is on tonight so no chance of an early night!

tammie49 · 20/04/2015 19:46

wow, so much has gone on while I've been busy back at work! sorry to hear so many of you are having a stressful time.
I saw the Dr about my cough (I thought I was going to cough my lungs out last night) and she's given me some antibiotics and I have to take my inhaler more. it's so sore, I almost forgot about being pg!
for the stats I'm 34.

chopsface · 20/04/2015 20:43

We need a new thread!

I'm 5 weeks exactly. Very tired after eating, dh had to finish off my dinner tonight. I didn't think I'd get so many symptoms so early on!

toadierocks · 20/04/2015 20:49

Wow this thread is nearly filled up! Shall I start a new one?
