Hello all, 7 weeks today and man I am feeling rough. I haven't been sick but feel constantly like I have the worst hangover and so nauseous. I had none of this with ds and was obviously far to smug. Only thing that helps is eating or chewing gum.
My boys have been away at nannies for the weekend and both returned I'll so playing nursemaid whilst trying not to catch any lurgs.

abi2790 · 19/04/2015 20:37

Congratulations to the new bfp's! Twinwife sorry to hear about your mum's diagnosis. My mum was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013. Luckily it was found early and she's now in remission after chemo and radiotherapy.

I've had a bit of a panic tonight after having a lot of pain in my tummy and lower back. I think it might be indegestion as I've had some antacids and it seems to have worked but I'm worried it might have something to do with this possible uti. Luckily I'm seeing the doctor tomorrow afternoon :)

chopsface · 19/04/2015 21:40

Good luck at the doctors tomorrow Abi hope the uti clears up soon x

goneswimming · 19/04/2015 21:42

Hi Toadie I'm 33 and in Exeter, for the stats sheet ??

Metalhead · 19/04/2015 21:47

I seem to have done my back in, standing straight and walking are rather painful. Hopefully it will improve over night, as DH is away tomorrow so I have to take DD to school and pick her up again...

Fizzie100 · 19/04/2015 22:44

Thanks for the sheet Toadie! I'm 31 and it's our first. Congrats to all the new BFPs!

WaitingForEgg · 20/04/2015 06:21

Thanks for the advice everyone. Will definitely discuss at appointment. I have a big general hospital nearby (where I work) which has a separate maternity hospital, a birthing centre and a small hospital. I think the small hospital's maternity unit is closing (no idea when). Ideally I think the birthing unit would be better, but I am a bit concerned as it is first baby. What happens if the baby gets stuck? As I know midwives can't use forceps etc, probably over thinking it but i'm a natural worrier!
Twinwife sorry to hear about your mum, hope things settle down your end
I have now taken to sleeping 9 hours a night plus a nap mid day... I am back to work Thursday so pretty sure this routine will have to change Grin

chopsface · 20/04/2015 07:42

I have a choice of 2 places, well kind of 3 but I don't really understand the 3rd option. Option 1 - midwife led unit, option 2 - local hospital, option 3 - place with 5 posher rooms at local hospital. Midwife led place is further away than hospital so probably not an option anyway, plus I'd be scared of having no doctors! Mind you they managed ok most of the time in Call the Midwife lol! Didn't really read properly the leaflet on the posh rooms. I guess they'd be first come first served anyway and even if you booked it there might be 5 ladies in labour already in them! But does nothing ever go to plan anyway? Or is that just on tv? This is all new territory!

Hope your all feeling well today?

WaitingForEgg · 20/04/2015 07:56

Chopsface I have exactly the same fears about the midwife led birthing unit near me. I think 99% of the time it's perfectly fine... but there is always that what if. I also thought home birth may be an option, but I guess it's similar risks. I've always liked the idea of a water birth but understand resources are limited, first come first served etc so no guarantees.

Serenity05 · 20/04/2015 08:20

Good morning everyone, just checking in quickly to say thank you for all the support after my message on Friday. I've booked a scan for Friday this week when I'll be 7+2. I'm going to try and relax this week and stop second guessing every little thing my body does!

Wishful80smontage · 20/04/2015 08:27

Hello all! Welcome newbies!
Not been on a couple days and this is a fast thread so trying to catch hope everyone is doing ok?
My nausea is really kicking in and dizziness is terrible :(
But we told our families this weekend and some friends and that was lovely.
My 2 year old dd keeps pointed to my belly and saying baby too.
I've got my booking in app on 6th may.

Feels different this time I'm excited but am
Trying to get my head around logistics of a second baby and sorting out practicalities of getting dd potty trained etc- think it will be a busy few months! Anyone with more than 1 pls reassure me at the min I'm
Wondering how I'll get out of the house with 2. I know you must be able to do it but not sure how.

WaitingForEgg · 20/04/2015 08:47

Thanks Withalittlesparkle that's really helpful
The unit near me also offers pethadine, ambulance transfer is around 12 minutes (it's not right next door). I think based on resources etc I would much rather the midwife led unit, but am worried about the time issue with intervention, I guess it's pretty unlikely. I think it is also a case of you can go to the midwife led unit so long as there is space (it isn't massive) so I may not even have the choice.
Great that we don't have to decide 100% yet, will give me time to think properly and maybe speak to others who have been there
Being discharged promptly (especially near xmas! is definitely a concern also)
Do you plan to go back to the unit you went to previously?

Metalhead · 20/04/2015 09:19

I had DD in a birthing centre, and while the care there was great, I will definitely be having this baby in hospital. Not wanting to scare anyone of you first-timers, but I had a pretty textbook labour, did all the active birth stuff and still tore very badly so had to be transferred to hospital after DD's birth for surgery. It's just made me realise that there are so many things that can go wrong, that you could never anticipate, so next time I want all medical equipment/doctors on stand by. But I'm generally quite risk averse and pessimistic, so that's just my personal view.

TerryTheGreenHorse · 20/04/2015 09:35

Having a second child for me was sic weeks of WHAAAAAT then it all settled in. The payback for me now is that I an not constantly having to entertain a toddler, they also play together so this phase is a lot easier!

abi2790 · 20/04/2015 10:40

Good morning ladies.

The main thing that is making me want a home birth this time is that I was in hospital with ds for 3 days for no reason. I had to have an ECG but after 3 days of the consultants pretty much ignoring me they said I can go home and have the ECG as an outpatient! It wasn't even like a few days afterwards it was months! I was so annoyed! Having to 'sleep' for 3 nights on a postnatal ward was not nice! it had nothing to do with the hospital but I'm sure anyone who has had to stay on a ward with lots of other women with other babies when you have a little new baby who doesn't want to sleep without being attached to you is not nice. That is my experience though so please don't think I am trying to put you off going to hospital :)

Apparently I've lost nearly half a stone even though I have been eating so much! I feel bloated all the time and I swear I look fatter so when I weighed myself last night I was shocked!

blueskygreengrass · 20/04/2015 12:02

Hi ya! Very happy to have found you ladies - my EOD is 8th December. Can't believe it! Been to doctors today and I'm almost 7 weeks Smile MN is awesome, so much info and support here.

I've definitely found it hard whilst not being able to tell friends/family Confused Last week felt like I've been hit by a bus, so exhausted, rang in sick said I had a stomach bug. Been feeling the MS and sick first time today (dh seemed excited about me being so green!!!)

Gonna start thinking about what hospital to choose so doc can refer me. I'm in NW London. Any tips on how to do your research? Doctor suggested visiting hospitals/ringing round. Also to join NCT.

Stay well and rest up all! Cake x

Sweets27 · 20/04/2015 12:48

Hi ladies, hope you're all well, and welcome to the new BFPs! Smile

I've been away from the thread a few days, so just trying to catch up - sorry to all those having a tough time and serenity, glad you have managed to get yourself a scan booked in and you can feel in control. Hope you aren't feeling so stressed about it today.

As for me, had a rather rubbish few days and had lots of spotting, mostly brown but quite a bit of bright red yesterday. I've been in a real panic and convinced myself it's all over. I called the midwife this morning, who was actually really helpful and helped to put my mind at rest. Even the red blood is apparently not necessarily a bad sign, especially if it's just spotting and not actual bleeding like a period. ...it's funny, I feel quite silly typing this as I'm realising that it's just what a lot of you have already gone through, and not very dramatic at all. I don't know why I got it a bit out of proportion! I had a proper meltdown this morning. I now understand how you others feel, better than I did before. It's one thing to logically know that spotting is not the end of the world, and to reassure others of that fact - but it's quite another thing to believe it yourself when you're going through it!

Anyway, private scan on Thurs should at least give me an answer one way or another as to what's going on. Fingers crossed... and sorry for rambling a little...!

WaitingForEgg · 20/04/2015 14:03

Oh Sweets I feel for you. You are not silly at all! It is one thing to read something is ok and another to keep calm in a situation when it happens, I would also have had a meltdown. Fingers crossed for your scan, not long to wait!

HariboBrenshnio · 20/04/2015 14:07

I had my DS at a small hospital. He was a C section and I got a private room just because there was one. I only stayed in one night, they would have let me stay longer but I asked to be discharged and they were fine with it. I guess every hospital/midwife led unit is different so when the time comes, go look round them all. There's lots of tours of labour wards and units to see which you prefer. My hospital has 4 water birthing rooms, all the labour rooms have patios, rings to sit on, balls to bounce on, couches, TVs and don't feel very clinical so is a good compromise.

Jcandy · 20/04/2015 14:59

Sorry that some people are having a bad time what with tiredness, nausea and spotting all going on. For me I just feel shattered and I'm having waves of nausea but thankfully no sickness yet. Oh and my boobs are super sore!

Got my booking appointment for 11th May after seeing my gp this morning. Also booked a private scan for 6th May when I'll be 8 weeks!

chopsface · 20/04/2015 15:15

Hope you're ok sweets glad you've been reassured. I would have a total freak out too.

After feeling normal this morning I'm having a bad afternoon! Lunch really seems to be affecting me and I feel massively tired and have watery mouth :-( just eaten some smoky bacon crisps, seems to have eased the nausea. I've booked and paid to go to yoga straight from work, do I want to?! Confused

1wilma1 · 20/04/2015 15:16

Welcome to all the newbies and sorry to hear that a few of you are having a rough time.
I havent posted much over the last week but I have been reading every day. The nausea and exhaustion is overwhelming and I want to curl up in a ball and hibernate for the next 10 weeks until im over the worst. I went to bed at 7:30 last night and slept til 7 this morning so im feeling a bit more normal today.

Because I feel a bit better i thought id do some baking to make up for the last week where my husband and kids have survived on frozen or processed food because I cant bear to be in the kitchen. I spent all morning making a pie and welsh cakes, hadnt done any housework and was covered in flour from head to toe when there was a knock at the door. The midwife calling in on the off chance that I was available to do the booking in! Yikes I wasnt expecting that for another couple of weeks and Im dying of shame at being caught with a messy living room but at least its done and out of the way. Just got to wait for a scan appointment to come through the post.
We havent told the kids yet that they're going to have a new brother or sister, we'll wait til after the scan but im bursting to tell them now, I think my oldest dd will guess soon as she doesnt miss a thing and Im not sure how Ill fob her off?

Sweets27 · 20/04/2015 15:21

Thanks egg and chops Smile

Sounds like loads of us are feeling really exhausted at the moment - nice to know we're all in it together, I suppose! chops, go for it with the yoga! I always feel a bit lazy beforehand, but feel SO much better afterwards.

wilma, what a last-minute booking in appointment! Good to have it done, though - not long til scan now! How old is your oldest DD? Must be hard to try to keep it under wraps for long enough with lots of inquisitive children around...

ThreeBeanRap · 20/04/2015 15:24

Hi all! Congratulations on all BFPs.

I was on the November thread as my original EDD (based on lmp) was 21/11, but I had an early scan after some spotting on Thursday - all fine - but they have moved my EDD to 01/12 based on measurements.

So I have come to join you all if that's ok, as I was way behind all the Nov lot! Haven't got my booking apt date yet but am hoping it should be through in the next week.
