shiny, you must be so impatient to get back home!!

I have also been frustrated by not being able to take any medication - had a splitting headache on Mon/Tues (probably due to giving up caffeine, which I hadn't been very good at while ttc!) and had nurofen but no paracetamol, so couldn't take anything...

Sweets27 · 02/04/2015 09:34

Oh and welcome needsomeinspiration Smile so sorry to hear about your nan, it must be a very sad time for you but so wonderful to have this good news to help give it a silver lining - bet she would have been very excited for you!

elelfrance · 02/04/2015 09:39

ThePug yeah, was really surprised as it took us 9 months for DD1 ! Got my Mirena coil out in January, we held off trying in Feb, and bingo in March

Metalhead I have that dry mouth thing aswell, its so weird, I didn't have it on my last pregnancy at all !

Congrats on the bfp ineedsomeinspiration , and so sorry to hear about your gran, I'm sure she'll be looking down on you & your little bean

ineedsomeinspiration · 02/04/2015 10:33

Do think it's normal to have different symptoms. I had awful skin last time round and this time it's beautifully clear?

Definitely different symptoms this time round for me too - greasy hair Confused and nausea all day so far, not just mornings.

Spurred on by you ladies I did a digital test this morning (in the shopping centre toilet, I'm well classyGrin) and thank goodness, it confirmed my dates, so I'm feeling relieved!!

Sweets27 · 02/04/2015 12:06

Oh brilliant, great news komnu! Smile

I have a new symptom - feeling massively hungover today (needless to say, not from drinking alcohol, in case you were worried!). Not quite nauseous, just not very well, quite tired, unhealthy. Joy...

Komnu · 02/04/2015 12:19

Thanks Sweets!

That hungover feeling doesn't sound fun, poor you - I remember feeling like that too last time, totally washed outHmm

Sweets27 · 02/04/2015 13:33

So, totally not concentrating at work today. Sorry to talk about it in this thread, but been looking at the Miscarriage Association's website and found these stats that I thought you might be interested in:

  • Research has shown that if you see a heartbeat at 6 weeks of pregnancy, the chances of the pregnancy continuing are 78%.
  • A heartbeat at 8 weeks increases the chance of a continuing pregnancy to 98% and at 10 weeks that goes up to 99.4%.

It's left me quite reassured, as I am hoping to have an early scan (anyone know if that's easy to ask your GP to refer you for, or if you need to have a serious medical reason?). Reason for that is twofold: (i) I have nocturnal epilepsy which is controlled through meds but have a history of seizing on long-haul flights, and have a long-haul flight in early May when I'll be around 9 weeks so I'd like to know in advance if everything's ok; and (ii) the long-haul flight is for a hol with my parents and sister, so I'd love to be able to tell them then!

Metalhead · 02/04/2015 13:42

I'm also planning on having an early scan at 8 weeks sweets, because if everything looks ok then I might be able to relax a bit considering those statistics. Also that's when my last pregnancy started going wrong, so I'm really desperate to get past that point.

I think it very much depends on your GP whether they'll refer you for a scan, it is usually only done if you experience bleeding or to rule out ectopic. But there are plenty of places who do it privately, and I think it's money well spent for some peace of mind (especially considering how much I spent on ttc over the past year...).

Sorry to hear about your nan indeed. Flowers

Afternoon Ladies Grin

So sorry to hear about your Nan ineedsomeinspiration

sweets You need to get a referral to and EPAC for a NHS scan before your scheduled 12/13 week one. You can get this through your GP or if you call the midwives at your local hospital. I would imagine that your Nocturnal epilepsy and long haul flight would be a reason enough to get one done - however - depending on your local EPAC some of them will not see you unless you have suspected Ecptopic pregnancy or a suspected MC. With my DD I had a bleed at 8wk 5 days and called 111 and they referred me to my local EPAC, I was seen the next day and fortunately everything was ok, it was just a breakthrough bleed. They're usually very good at helping us preggo's know everything is ok.

However if they won't see you and you're worried or maybe just curious to have a look and see some progress then I used a private company called -
www.ultrasound-direct.com/
They have many centers all over the UK

I went on to have many bleed during my pregnancy with DD and was permanently freaked out so I had a few scans done. They are pricey but then I couldn't stop worrying so to me, they were worth it. I also had a presentation scan done at 32 weeks so I knew the estimated weight of DD and also that she wasn't Back to back!

Since my DD I've had a late miscarriage at 13 weeks, which would have been picked up earlier had I had a scan at around 8 weeks so I'll be off to Ultrasound direct at 7 weeks, when you can see a viable heart beat, just to check in on my hopefully stick bean

It's good to know that different symptoms are fine then.

Thanks for all the condolences. It may sound bad but Nan passing was in a way a good thing. She has been stuck in a bed for the last year, unable to hear, see or feed herself and she was nearly 100.

I've been lucky and not experienced a miscarriage, I know the longer you go on the more the chance reduces. Nothing we can do really other than keep everything crossed.

Missing tea already, will limit myself to 2 cups a day.

Sweets27 · 02/04/2015 15:58

Thanks metal and toadie, helpful to know! I might check out that private company...

Well I've made it to 14dpo and no sign of AF, temp still nice and high this morning. I did the second FRER from the pack and the line came up straight away really strong, and the ICs are also getting darker, so I might actually start to believe that I'm really pregnant now! (And stop poas on any stick I can get my hands on... Blush)

Morning girls :-) I had an appointment with my gynecologist yesterday evening. I'm in France, so the way pregnancies are handled is completely different from the UK - I'll see my gyne once a month in her office up till month 7, then i'll be seen by an obstetrician at the hospital where I'll ge giving birth.
Anyway, she confirmed I'm at ~5weeks5days, and is sending me for an early scan at 8 weeks, because of what I think was an implantation bleed. Even though I don't think that there's anything to worry about, I'm happy to be getting an early scan. Also have to do blood tests 4 days apart to check that Hcg levels are rising ok. She's very thorough ;-) if possibly going a little overboard...better safe than sorry i suppose

shinysparklythings · 03/04/2015 09:59

Metal and sparkle that's ace! Must be do reassuring to see those lines getting darker.

Ele that sounds like a good way to handle pregnancies! Sounds far more thorough than the uk system but I guess you have to pay?

dojo123 · 03/04/2015 10:05

Morning Ladies.

Thank you toadie for inviting me on this bus.
Hiya pug waves

I'm Dojo. I've been on the buses since Jan and was on the Megamarchbus.

Had a very early mc at the end of Jan (4+5) but think that I was no longer pregnant from 4+3.
This is why I have been a bit nervous about joining this bus too soon.
I am 4+2 today but got my positive "pregnant 2-3wks" on a CB digi this morning.
I tested on Monday at 3+5 and got a positive (also tested Tuesday and Wednesday to make sure!) but feel more confident in the digi, I think it's seeing the result in writing.

Anyhoo. My stats are as follows.

Dojo 33. Ttc#1 cycle#3 bfp#30 March. Edd#9 Dec

I have booked my first midwife appt at 6wks. But have a feeling the next week and a half is going to drag before then.

Wishing you all a happy, uneventful 8 months!!!

elelfrance · 03/04/2015 10:27

shiny nope, its all covered by a combination of social security & obligatory private health insurance...costs the state two fortunes, but they're very proud of their health system over here (even if they really struggle to pay for it) !

elelfrance · 03/04/2015 10:28

welcome Dojo Smile

dojo123 · 03/04/2015 10:57

Thank you elelfrance

Sweets27 · 03/04/2015 11:47

Fx dojo that it all goes swimmingly for you this time. Hey - we have the same edd! Smile

ele, the french sound super efficient. Good luck for the scan.

alphabook · 03/04/2015 12:00

Hi all. So glad I found this thread as I've been bursting to talk about the fact that I'm pregnant with someone other than DH!

I got my BFP on Wednesday, I'm 16DPO today and my EDD is 9th December. I have PCOS and got pregnant on my 3rd round of Clomid. I still can't quite believe it! I'm going to call my consultant after the bank holiday and hopefully get an early scan booked. So far I haven't had many symptoms, just tired and obviously no period!

Wishing everyone here a happy and complication-free 8 months!

dojo123 · 03/04/2015 12:20

sweets and alpha looks like we are going to be bump buddies. Easter Smile
