This started as a TTC thread about a year ago, which, as so many of us C'ed, kind of fizzled out Smile. Since then, we've been joined by many other over-35ers to share the joys and grumbles of pregnancy in our decrepitude, and watch first our pubes, then our feet, disappearing from view.....

How did your DS acquire his bashage?

Mine returned intact today- very surprised!

Just playing at the playpark, bashed his head on a metal steering wheel (in the wooden pirate ship - double whammy as some kid turned it towards him at the same time he headbutted it!). It's the worst bash he's had on his face for over three years! Typical! It had better go down by the time the new one gets here! :)
He was on the dodgems today, just after two young girls bashed their mouths on their go! Luckily he came out of that ride ok!

Glad your DS was ok today! :)

Lolababy00 · 19/04/2015 09:22

Hi everyone .... DP has managed to keep his balls as ALL blinds are up in house and he has managed to mend my DS wardrobe door too Smile
My DD has large bruise on chin as she decided to chin butt the trolley whilst shopping ( an old man was talking to her and she laughed , then decided to do some strange head movement resulting in a whack on the chin )
Lots of you are ready for your big day ... It's approaching fast xxx

AbsInTheClub · 19/04/2015 13:50

Phew! Grin He must be relieved!

Oh dear, must be the week for bashed little faces! Hope she is ok.

Ready???! Nooooo! I am not! x

Snooky17 · 19/04/2015 14:06

Yay for Mr lolababy ! Ouch to all these bruises and bashes.
Spoke to BIL today who is happy to drive me to hospital in my car which is great since he has just got a new 3 door mini, 5 door is so much easier so can sort isofix base in car and leave hospital bag, and puppy training mats in car (just in case lol). Just realised at 3 this morning that I have 4 weeks tomorrow, thought it was 5 bit scary now.

Lolababy00 · 19/04/2015 20:23

snooky17 puppy training mats what a great idea ... Smile

Snooky17 · 20/04/2015 05:47

Absorbent and cheaper than maternity mats, had my waters go twice in bed so gonna pop some on the bed too I think

Gingerbreadlady1 · 20/04/2015 18:48

Thats a great idea snooky!

Mamamia321 · 23/04/2015 23:09

HEy everyone. I am expecting dc 3 in July. I have a 6 yr old ds and 2 yr old ds. I am 40. This pregnancy is very tough. Round ligament pain misinterpreted as early labour. Aching ugly varicose veils. Breathlessness. And been told caesarean best option due to lipped disc. But it's a girl and defo the last one!

AbsInTheClub · 24/04/2015 22:35

Hi, Mamamia, and welcome! Sorry you aren't having an easy ride of it. Worth it though!!!

Lolababy00 · 25/04/2015 10:21

Welcome mamamia it's not nice having a tough pregnancy, especially when you have other children yo look after.
Ladies any advice on heartburn remedies .... Can't really face gaviscon and when I do the gloopy mixture is hard to swallow.... Just makes me want to throw up ??
How is everyone, absin any feelings of imminent labour ?? X

stubbornstains · 25/04/2015 11:08

I swear by Trebor extra strong mints lola- and peppermint tea. The mints really do work......

Welcome mamamia!

No, nothing doing here! I'm not quite 40w yet. I do think I'll go over, which MW is fine with too.
I am NOT handy with a needle and thread but I've just ordered some fabric to make a nursing pillow with (just a normal pillow, really, but with some fabric I like!), so hoping that arrives and I can get it made before baby arrives. Need to get some extra pillows too. We went all minimalistic when we moved, but I need some STUFF!!! :)

Sparrowlegs248 · 25/04/2015 11:57

Hi everyone, welcome mama

26weeks today gulp Have been feeling ok but struggling a bit today with the poop shelling and wheelbarrow pushing so taking it easy. Having a little sit down before I do the next load.

Have started with a bit of heartbeat when I go to bed. Need to try and eat earlier I think.

Puppy training mats are a grand idea, sure we have a few left from kitten training too.

Any movement from anyone? Voodoo exciting!!

Sparrowlegs248 · 25/04/2015 12:08

Voodoo?!?! .tf? Should have said sooooo !

Lolababy00 · 25/04/2015 14:20

Trebor extra strong mints and peppermint tea on shopping list ..... Thanks stubbornstains
For feeding DD I purchased a v shaped pillow from ikea( a lot cheaper than most shops especially Mothercare) then made own cover

Carikube · 25/04/2015 15:40

Time seems to have flown by since I last posted to such an extent that this thread had disappeared off my list of threads I'm on. Great to hear everyone's news though and it's making it all feel more real hearing those of you getting so close to giving birth!

We finally had our dating scan last Monday and so I am pleased to say that there is only one of them in there. It also means that DH is now actually talking about the pg (he refused to until he'd seen a 'proof of life') so now we are starting to let people know. The scan also helpfully took 5 days off my due date so I am now 14+1 rather than the 13+3 that I thought I was.

I told work this week, which considering I only started there permanently at the beginning of March, went remarkably well. It was also pointed out to me that they were starting to cotton on given that I seem to be eating healthily / have given up alcohol and caffeine yet seem to be getting larger. At least it means I can now crack out the maternity clothes and not care what I look like as everything else is getting a bit too tight.

We also told the DDs last night and they are suitably excited. We told them about how they will be able to teach this one to ride a scooter etc and DD2 has decided that her first task will be to 'teach them how to burp' Hmm so I'm glad she's getting her priorities right.

Lolababy00 · 27/04/2015 21:08

Hi had 20 week scan today, all is well with baby ... Growing well ... And it's going to be another girly Smile

Gingerbreadlady1 · 27/04/2015 21:14

Congratulations lola!

Welcome mamamia.

Brilliant news carikube!

Nothing to report here, cleaning continues....

AbsInTheClub · 27/04/2015 21:46

Always good to be put ahead, Cari! Hurrah! I'm glad your DDs are happy! DS here is still up and down! I shall see if teaching the new baby to burp wins him over fully! :)

Great news, Lola.

Same here, Ginger. Though my nursing pillow fabric has already arrived, much sooner than expected. I am borrowing MIL's ancient sewing machine, she said she'd need to show me how to work it, and can't come til Thursday (when I expected the fabric anyway). So I hope she arrives before the baby, so I can have my pillow ready! Yes, that seems a good reason to have the baby hold off arriving! But THEN, I WILL be ready. Well, as ready as I'll ever be!

stubbornstains · 28/04/2015 13:01

I hope inshock's all right...she should have had her baby by now....hopefully she's all wrapped up in baby bubble land....

AbsInTheClub · 28/04/2015 14:13

Hope so! Hello if you are still reading!

Gingerbreadlady1 · 28/04/2015 14:37

She posts quite infrequently stubborn so im sure all is fine

Snooky17 · 28/04/2015 14:46

Hmm Abs in not having the pillow made till Thursday you could invoke Sod's law and have baby today or tomorrow now,

AbsInTheClub · 28/04/2015 16:01

Well, I suppose I could manage without it if that happens!
I think my body knows I am waiting on it so things aren't happening til I am all set!
