This started as a TTC thread about a year ago, which, as so many of us C'ed, kind of fizzled out Smile. Since then, we've been joined by many other over-35ers to share the joys and grumbles of pregnancy in our decrepitude, and watch first our pubes, then our feet, disappearing from view.....

That's good news Hexy I can't imagine how awful it must be still having sickness.

The best laid plans etc..... I know what you mean about the bump though, i am finding it really odd and also not all that comfy even at this stage. Might be better when i am in maternity clothes. My work will be purely office based towards the end so hope i can carry on as long as possible. Not sure about driving to and from work though - do people stop driving?

AbsInTheClub · 28/02/2015 22:06

Notta, we watched OBEM when I was pg with DS, and I did find them beneficial when our time came.

I haven't really thought much about labour this time yet, other than I'd prefer a home birth again. I am just hoping that as it is my second time, my body's memory will make things a bit easier, and that this one won't be back to back like DS was, which didn't help.

I don't know about driving - last time, we lived so close to town I didn't need to drive anywhere. Will have to see how we go this time. We have no commitments that I HAVE to get to, it's just out and about trips with DS, so no pressure.

Sparrowlegs248 · 28/02/2015 22:37

I found the obem clips pretty terrifying. The babies looked so big coming out!! It did make me cry too though. Never watched it before. I think i need to make DH watch it.

I drive to work, not far, about 20 - 25 minutes. Just wondering about comfort really. I can get the bus but with the way my hips have been the walk to work from the bus station will be tough.

AbsInTheClub · 28/02/2015 22:45

My baby was nice and dinky! :) Am hoping for the same.

Hope you manage a comfortable commute one way or another!

Snooky17 · 01/03/2015 12:19

I also reduced days down last pregnsncy by using holidays as well worked really well for me, but was office work so say in chair all day, my commute was an he each way tho and I was able to drive, even tho I'm only short adjusting height of steering wheel helped but my bump wasn't hugmongous compared to some.

AbsInTheClub · 01/03/2015 20:08

I'm on the taller side (but not mega tall) and I feel my bump is long top to bottom, as opposed to round and sticking out - so far no issues at all with the steering wheel, but I do struggle to stick the satnav on the windscreen once I've sat down.

Sparrowlegs248 · 01/03/2015 20:25

I don't think I can hope for a dingy baby, judging by family history (sister, brother and me 9+ 10+ & 11.4lbs!!) mum 10+ and nephews 8.6 & 8.11.

My mum is tiny too bless her.

Sparrowlegs248 · 01/03/2015 20:28

Dinky ......I'm not hoping for a dingy baby.....

AbsInTheClub · 01/03/2015 20:29

!!!

Sparrowlegs248 · 01/03/2015 20:39

I know. Mum bought some baby gros from mothercare. The size is 'New baby 10lb' because she had to take all the stuff she bought for me as a baby, back as it was too small at birth! AND had to knit me a New matinee coat!!!

Thanks for sharing that with me mum!

AbsInTheClub · 01/03/2015 20:45

Crikey! I can't quite remember what I was, but it was in the 7lb region.

I was in Mothercare the other day, brought a little tear to my eyes looking at all the cute stuff! It's not cheap though, is it! I'm not buying much for newborn, as it is impossible to judge size required until they are here. I have a few things I bought in the last Next sale, and some stuff from when DS was born. Will send DH out once baby is here if I need more babygros. (With strict taste instructions!)

BingoBonkers · 01/03/2015 21:05

Hello Birds,

Almost 25wks. Am feeling huge. Bending down already a problem. I'm huge all over. Can't stop eating but then feel sick shortly after. My bust has gone bananas. I'm already in the bras I was wearing to bf at my biggest. I am slightly scared by my ever increasing bosom.

No mat leave here either as already a SAHM.

AbsInTheClub · 01/03/2015 22:40

Am massive up top too. I have bought two nursing bras that I am currently wearing (not together!), hope I don't get much bigger as they ain't cheap!
I have an ever-increasing bosom and an ever-increasing bottom! Grin

Tranquilitybaby · 01/03/2015 23:50

Hello hope everyone ok? Smile

Carikube · 02/03/2015 08:29

Morning everyone, may I join you?

I'm only 5+5 today with DC3 and as I had a MC last time round I was a bit nervous about adding myself but have decided to just go for it. I have been sleeping for England (is this a side effect of being old?) and feeling pretty grim in a way I didn't with my previous DCs. Just to make life more interesting (!) I got a BFP the day after I had signed my first permanent contract in 5 years - I've been temping the last 18 months and was so pleased to manage to get a permanent job on the hours I wanted as DD1 and DD2 are now at school. Not sure how I'm going to tell them about the pg....

Anyway, stats are :

Carikube, 41 (will be 42), baby no 3, edd October 28th (DD1 5 and DD2 4)

Lolababy00 · 02/03/2015 09:53

Congrats and welcome Carikube
Hi everyone told my 15 year old that he's getting another sister or brother yesterday ... Went surprisingly well, wasn't planning on telling him until scan and tests but I've been really sicky over weekend and he was worried there was something else wrong, so I sat him down and had a big chat and cuddle. he said he had a feeling I was expecting and would like a brother if possible !!

AbsInTheClub · 02/03/2015 11:11

Hi, Tranq. Did you get my PM?

Carikube, welcome to the party! Congratulations. What do you think you will do about work? Do you want to be put on the stats list?

Aw, Lola, that is lovely! :)

Cineraria · 02/03/2015 12:46

Congratulations Carikube! I'm sleeping loads too. I'm working from home today and the sofa looks so inviting...

Nottalotta, are you really eighteen weeks and not needing to wear maternity clothes yet? I'm already struggling to fit my indigestion bloating and my bust, which has gone up more than two cup sizes, in any of my clothes at only ten weeks. Most of my clothes are quite fitted around the waist though, as I'm fairly busty anyway and anything that isn't fitted hangs straight off my bust and makes me look pregnant even when I'm not!

When do people generally need to wear maternity clothes? I have booked the week off work after my twelve week scan to make some clothes that fit me, hopefully ones that will fit throughout the pregnancy but not look too tent like immediately. I want to buy some tights that don't hurt too.

Glad to hear you had such a good experience telling your son, Lola.

AbsInTheClub · 02/03/2015 13:11

Cineraria, I got to about 20 weeks not wearing maternity clothes. And no one was guessing at that stage either. It was winter though so I was in big jumpers anyway.
Very impressed you are making your own clothes!

I've not bought much this time round - one pair of jeggings (which actually aren't that comfortable, but I will wear them after the baby is here), one new maternity top - both half price in the January sales, two new BFing tops that I can wear now too, two nursing bras (possibly will have to get more if I get bigger!), and some new PJ bottoms. And some pants. Being super frugal.
Will you need tights - it will be summer when you get big?

DS (4) is being super cute at the moment - he fell asleep last night with his little hand on my belly, feeling for kicks. Awwwwww.

Lolababy00 · 02/03/2015 15:25

cineraria I'm 12 weeks and I can't do most of my jeans up ... I'm already hanging about in leggings and joggers. By the evening I seem to become really bloated, DP calls me hip hip ( hippo ) his name for me when I'm expecting.

Sparrowlegs248 · 02/03/2015 18:11

Cineraria I am not wearing full on maternity, but am opting for stretch stuff. I get what you mean about tights too! I have a few jersey type wrap dresses from monsoon, knee length with elbow length sleeves, a stretch pencil skirt etc and have been wearing those at work, and leggings/sweater dress at home. My jeans don't fit, not do my normal non stretch pencil skirts for work. I have about 50 bras in a 34b........two are clearly much bigger than the others and are the only ones I can wear! Friend gave me two nursing bras in a 36dd - tried them on, bit too big (no support) but much more comfy.

I got up this morning and my tummy looked bizarrely flat (in comparison) but the bump was back by 11am. Odd.

Phoned about antenatal classes, they do a group of 3 in a month so am booked for the June ones. :-)

Sparrowlegs248 · 02/03/2015 18:14

I need tights now - normal ones are just not comfy. I think cheaper to buy tights for under my stretch dresses than trousers?
Hoping to stick to dresses for summer too but how the feck are you supposed to shave your legs with heavily pregnant?

AbsInTheClub · 02/03/2015 18:22

I had my leg hairs zapped permanently years ago, so don't have that issue! Highly recommend!

Tranquilitybaby · 02/03/2015 18:24

Oh I don't think so Abs the f'd to look. About the fb group?

AbsInTheClub · 02/03/2015 18:31

Got you!
Anyone else want to be added to the Fb group - PM me with your Fb name and profile picture info so I can find you. It is a secret group so none of your friends can even see you are in the group, let alone see your posts (unless they happen to be in the group already!).
