This started as a TTC thread about a year ago, which, as so many of us C'ed, kind of fizzled out Smile. Since then, we've been joined by many other over-35ers to share the joys and grumbles of pregnancy in our decrepitude, and watch first our pubes, then our feet, disappearing from view.....

Haha abs, youve got me chuckling. Here it is but i live in glasgow, also got matching vanity thingy with lots of drawers & large mirror.

We usually put our stuff on freecycle but have put this in ebay (first time ive sold on ebay), got a few watchers but no bids. Gutted to give it up but no room so its got to go...

Gingerbreadlady1 · 28/03/2015 23:57

Ffs!

Gingerbreadlady1 · 29/03/2015 00:01

Dont seem to be able to post pics...

Tranquilitybaby · 29/03/2015 08:34

Hiya checking in again xx

How are you all?

Doing ok here, 28 weeks tomorrow. Got another scan and meeting consultant for the first time on Wednesday then GTT Thursday.

I'd like to try cloth but where do I start?

AbsInTheClub · 29/03/2015 10:04

Link me to your eBay, here or Fb!

Hi, Tranq. Woo, 28 weeks! Getting there.

Cloth feels like a minefield, but it's easy once you get going. My advice would be to order one of a few different types, then see what you like best. But also remember, different styles and sizes work better on babies at different stages.

My favourites with DS were some bespoke ones from www.facebook.com/HoldensLanding. I also loved Itti Bitti, but these are now discontinued, but if you don't mind second-hand, you should be able to pick some up on eBay or from the various sell-on pages on Fb.

Tranquilitybaby · 29/03/2015 13:03

Thanks I'll have browse!

Gingerbreadlady1 · 29/03/2015 16:20

I dont seem able to post photos, most annoying. Will post on fb abs

AbsInTheClub · 29/03/2015 19:54

Tranq, no worries. I should have said, some places also offer nappy trials - you can try The Nappy Lady www.thenappylady.co.uk/ for trial kits.
Also, if there is a Baby Show coming up between now and when you are due, they are good places to have a look at what's what. We managed to get to a couple before DS was born, and I got a good stash started that way.

Thanks, Ginger. Nice, but a little big for us. Thank you though! And a bargain - hope you get a good price for it.

Had a day out today, met some friends, am now knackered, and would quite like to go to bed. DS wants to make cookies though. I have no idea how this boy keeps going for so long!

stubbornstains · 29/03/2015 20:25

Don't worry abs, I'm sure he'll soon get increasingly manic, then have a screaming meltdown and end up slumped sobbing on the sofa soon....or is that just mine? Grin

(eyes vodka longingly)

OP posts:
AbsInTheClub · 29/03/2015 21:19

Well, that hasn't happened yet - just relentless requests to make cookies. So there are now some cookies in the oven, thanks to DH giving in to DS! :)

I had a glass of chocolate milk and feel rejuvenated! (still hanging for some coke)

Lolababy00 · 31/03/2015 20:08

Hi everyone hope your all well . I'm having chicken korma moments at the minute ... My DP is travelling 30 mins to get one for me , bless him.
16 weeks and 1 day had MW appointment, heard heartbeat which was lovely .

AbsInTheClub · 02/04/2015 14:17

Ah, the heartbeat is a lovely sound!

36 weeks here!

Finally got a wardrobe, antique style - but it smells a bit old and fusty, and I don't want to put all the clean new baby clothes in it. Gah. I have washed it with warm soapy water, it still smells.
I never heard back from APC for a courier quote either!
Have seen a new changing table with drawers in Mothercare, ex-display so discounted, may get that instead, and decide what to do with the wardrobe later. Poor DH despairs! :)

Where is everyone!

HexyQueen · 02/04/2015 16:46

Been busy, busy, busy. Getting hospital bag together as DH not much use in the "organising" dept were I to go into early labour (30+3). Dread to think what he would return with if I don't sort it out. Also getting back of house rendered next week after 15 years being here as our incomprehensible Irish builder can't count weeks, he was meant to be here the week after... So lots to get organised in a rush. It should look loads better tho, couldn't face yet more photos of another young child/baby with our house looking like it was about to fall down.

Feeling fucking enormous now, dont think I was this big last time, know it won't be long before am completely exhausted & incapable. Struggling to walk at all now with leg pains, fatigue & pelvic pain. I've another growth scan on Tuesday so get to see baby again. Still being sick, but much more manageable. I too am 42, quite a few of us, eh!

I'm amazed you are so far along now inshock and abs; after the snail's pace of first 16 weeks, time really seems to have moved onto warp speed. Fuck soon we will have babies!!!!!!!!!
Xxx

AbsInTheClub · 02/04/2015 17:13

Impressively organised, Hex.

I feel smaller than last time, belly-wise, but bigger arse-wise! Easter Grin I was able to swim a lot last time, but this time I have DS, and though we go 'swimming' several times a week, I spend most of my time messing about with him, rather than doing lengths. Oh well.

I know! Bring on the babies! Not just yet for me though please - I still haven't finished washing baby clothes and nappies and stuff!

stubbornstains · 02/04/2015 18:16

I am at my parents', which is a mixed blessing Hmm. Just glad to know that I managed the 5 hour drive in one piece, by consuming illegal amounts of caffeine.

I foolishly booked quite an intense course this weekend, a few months ago when I wasn't feeling so shit. So, Sat and Sun I will be getting up early to drive into London to hang out with a load of beardy hipsters and unlearn lots of bad habits....there's even a social thing on the Sat night in "trendy Shoreditch" (TM)- I have a feeling I'm going to stand out just a bit....

The worse thing about being here is that my parents have a set of scales. OMFG. OMFG. OMFG. I really shouldn't have weighed myself. It's bad. No wonder I'm feeling like I can hardly move- it's not the baby, it's THE FAT Blush. God.

Just like you abs, in my first pregnancy I swam every other day and did yoga, but have done hardly any this time around...because I've been too busy, really. And I think it's showing Sad.

Gingerbreadlady1 · 02/04/2015 20:21

Yeah! People are chatting again. I too have been getting nursery/hospital bag/ house in order. 33+3, feeling good though despite 2 bloody stone weight gain!!!!

Anyone whos not done it, i recommend signing up to boots parent club thing. Quite a few good vouchers & freebies.

Snooky17 · 02/04/2015 20:33

I've been reading but not posting sorry, I too have been getting bag etc sorted, washed some baby clothes today and have put on 3 pounds short of 2 stone , 33+3 too. I feel huge but if I look down my chest is still bigger than my bump, so either I'm not as big as I think or my chest is fecking humungous ! On iron tablets, still feel lightheaded and faint if I walk about tons like shopping, back and hips hurt ofan evening but really can't complain. Tho my post is a bit whingy lol

AbsInTheClub · 03/04/2015 22:15

Hope the course goes ok, stubborn. Lol, my DH is currently sporting the beardy hipster look (see Fb profile!). Easter Grin
I'm determined to be trim by Xmas, so I am not too bothered about things right now.

Hope you are feeling nice and ready, GBL, though you have some time!
I probably bored everyone off with my wardrobe chat!

Hi, Snooky, whinge away! (I didn't think your post was very whingey, don't worry.)

Gingerbreadlady1 · 05/04/2015 11:57

Hi everyone, happy easter Easter Smile! Hope were all gorging outselves on chocolate. Whats the course stubborn, hope it goes well? I love & am very jealous of your creative, hands on profession.

Good news on wardrobe abs, ours is going to a new home tonight via freecycle. I'll be sad to see it go.

hexy hope you're resting up as much as possible.

snooky im disappointed in my meagre pregnancy boobage!

AbsInTheClub · 05/04/2015 12:34

Happy Easter Eggs to you, Gingerb. Easter Smile. And everyone else. I haven't had any chocolate yet.
The wardrobe is a no go - the fusty smell remains - I hung some baby stuff in it and it made the clothes smell the same as the wardrobe. We are using it in the entrance hall instead for shoes and crap, and the hunt is on for something small aimed specifically at being in a nursery. Argh. 37 weeks next week so I need something soon! I am trying on Gumtree but people are really rubbish at getting back to me.
Hope your wardrobe is well-loved in its new home.

Gingerbreadlady1 · 05/04/2015 13:14

Is there nothing decent at ikea/ b&q etc? There stuff is usually quite good & well priced.

AbsInTheClub · 05/04/2015 18:28

Not that I've seen really, and I'd rather get something nicer, second-hand. ikea is a pain to get to for us, too.

Snooky17 · 05/04/2015 23:47

Quick grr, cos I need to just moan lol, how hard is to to put your bloody mobile on charge while u sleep then it's fully charged for work! but no OH can't be bothered to do that so instead takes charger to work. I of course, voice my concern that he will leave it there since he loses stuff all the time, "be fine no one will take it anyway" so did he leave it -yes and has someone taken it - yes. In the big scheme of things it doesn't really matter but it has really pissed me off, don't actually get that much joy out of being right, grrr rant over

Sparrowlegs248 · 06/04/2015 16:08

Afternoon all, hope you have all had a nice Easter. I have had last week off work, which ought to have been nice but wasn't really. Car has been broken for ever waiting for DH to fix it. I live in the sticks so can't go anywhere without it. He is outside now working on it and I am back to work tomorrow. Soooo passed off as it was my last week off before baby is due. Grrr. Also had some unnecessary stress and worry in the week.

Anyway, moving on....I am 23 +2 now. Can't believe how time flies! I do have a bump but it really varies in size! Not got weighed for a few weeks, might do that in a minute.

Need to look at Moses basket and cot bed mattresses, I have my sisters basket and cot bed to use. Not sure if the mattresses are a universal size? They are at the parents awaiting our spare room clearance collection.

Desperate for DH to not be here so I can get on and do stuff - he is out of work atm so not much chance of that. I find he really hinders me if he is here when I was to clean/sort throw his stuff away

Can't wait to hear from those of you who are further on, when you have your babies. Please tell us all how nice and easy labour is. Lie to me!! Lol!

I have ordered a hypnobirthing book, collecting tomorrow. Hope it helps me!

AbsInTheClub · 07/04/2015 11:32

Oh dear, Snooky. Hope you aren't too angry any more, it's not good for you. Hope he learns!

Notta, sorry to hear about the car stress and worry, and any other stress and worry. Life should be easier!
We are having a good clear out too - my DH is you though, and I am a bit more hold on to things! Getting better though.

Am busy washing baby clothes, got the last lot on, then got cloth nappies to wash, and then I am sorted on that front! Well, aside from not having anywhere to store them nicely! Hope this baby doesn't come early. Childbirth is a bit hard at the time, but it can't be that bad or we wouldn't be doing it again!
Going to steam mop the floors today too.
