This started as a TTC thread about a year ago, which, as so many of us C'ed, kind of fizzled out Smile. Since then, we've been joined by many other over-35ers to share the joys and grumbles of pregnancy in our decrepitude, and watch first our pubes, then our feet, disappearing from view.....

DH installed a permanent chin-up bar in the kitchen - beat that!

AbsInTheClub · 12/04/2015 22:00

Sorry you're in pain, Notta - I hope it passes soon.

Which hypnobirthing book have you got? I have the Marie Mongan one, it has a CD in it. I've only just started it. Oops. But I did do it last time, so really hoping the memories just come back if I don't manage to re-read it in time. Also just hoping as it's my second time the birth is just easier anyway!

Tranquilitybaby · 12/04/2015 22:32

Hello! Smile

Can't believe some of you are nearly there now! Eek!

30 weeks tomorrow here, got my section date letter through last week. Birth day is 15th June! 9 weeks to go.

Does nobody use the fb group? I just admit I'm on there far more than MN lately.

Cineraria · 12/04/2015 23:24

Thanks, Abs. I'm not sure my dressmaking skills really deserve the compliment though. I was a bit rushed with making them in order to avoid having to go to work in my pyjamas! I do have a photo as my mum likes me to keep her up to date with everything I'm doing that is baby related and so I wanted to show her what I'd made. I seem to remember she made a lot of her own maternity clothes too, when she had my brother. I can't believe how big my bust looks in the one I'm wearing though. That bodice had pleats in when I designed it a few weeks ago but they are all stretched out now!

Glad your wardrobe was just what you wanted and that you have managed to get everything organised. It must be so nice to feel you have everything ready now.

Sorry to hear you're having pain NottaLotta. Hope you find something that helps ease it.

I can't believe how quickly time has started to go for me; The first 12 weeks went by so slowly and yet somehow I've now got to 16 weeks without noticing. Another 4 weeks and I'll be halfway through, then I can start counting down. Good look to those of you whose countdowns are nearly finished!

It's Spring, and the Old Birds are nesting. First hatchlings coming soon!
AbsInTheClub · 13/04/2015 12:01

I'm happy to post in the Fb group - will go and do so!

Really great work, Cineraria, I think it's great to be able to make stuff like that!

stubbornstains · 13/04/2015 13:53

Those are extremely smart dresses cineraria- well done!

DS was, in fact, a total sight when he came back, and gave me quite a shock gurning through the back door at me- XP forgot to mention the cuts and scrapes all over his face Shock. It looked a lot better when I cleaned him up- and hid the worst of it under plasters- but I fear my smartening him up ready for the new term efforts have come to nought!

Work is really becoming a bit of a struggle now- I always thought of it as quite sedentary, because I just didn't really notice all the bending down, picking things up, carrying bits of board inside and out, etc.etc.....Now, every single change of position is an effort. I'm starting to begrudge every job I have yet to do, rather than being grateful!

stubbornstains · 13/04/2015 13:55

By the way, re: tools:- I've had a staple gun sitting on the kitchen floor for about 2 months now.....see, that's why I need a DP, so I can blame it on him! Blush.

Sparrowlegs248 · 14/04/2015 12:54

Ooh a van seat you say hexy? Well, we have some internal boards from the back of the van in the pantry! In front of the Veg rack to be precise. What is wrong with these men? Oh and Abs we have a pair of hand weights in the kitchen, fully laden.

Oh and lets not forget half a motocross bike in the dining room and a road racing cycle in the hall......

I got the Marie Mongan book but it didn't come with a cd, but that's good to know so I can order one.

Thanks everyone - re being in pain, I am off work so far this week and currently relaxing in a warm bath. Seems to help.

Cineraria · 14/04/2015 13:23

Thanks, Abs and Stubborn.

Is your DS healing up ok, Stubborn? I hope so.

Glad the warm bath is helping with your pain, Nottalotta.

I have an appointment this afternoon. I think it is supposed to be the 16-18 week one with the midwife to check heartbeat, urine and blood pressure but during the booking appointment, she booked me in with a consultant for this one instead due to problems I had previously, so I'm not sure if anything else will be involved.

After that I'm going to my first pregnancy yoga session. Has anyone else been doing pregnancy yoga? I feel like my joints have rusted up since I last went to a yoga class in December so I'm looking forward to it but also dreading it a bit.

AbsInTheClub · 14/04/2015 21:53

I'll get a picture so you can see the monstrosity that is the chin up bar in my otherwise lovely kitchen! Grin
I also have DH's bike in the living room every so often when he is working on it! :)

Hope you had a good appt, cineraria. Do let me know if you want to join the Fb group, btw.

I did a bit of pregnancy Yoga but I wasn't feeling it from the instructor, and she was off a lot ill, so that was the end of that. How was it?

Cineraria · 15/04/2015 01:25

The appointment was nice, thanks Abs. The consultant was very reassuring and he did an extra scan, which I hadn't expected, using a little, portable scanner. The baby was touching his/her toes! I'm not sure if I felt the first movement too while I was in the waiting area. I get lots of digestive gurgles, so it could be one of those, but this didn't feel quite like any I've had before, more like a trembling, swirling feeling.

The yoga was great too. I had just been starting to get a bit achy and stiff if I sit or lie still for any length of time and it helped with that too.

I'm not on Facebook, so can't join you there.

Does your DH actually use the chin-up bar or is it more decorative, like the rowing machine in our spare bedroom?

AbsInTheClub · 15/04/2015 11:39

Glad you had a good appt and that the Yoga was great!

Yeah, he does use the chin up bar, at least!!! :) As does DS. Grin Me, not so much!

Snooky17 · 15/04/2015 22:42

Watching OBEM one of the older ones, there's one with an older mum who is 40, eek she looks really old (sorry that's bitchy) made me feel a bit better tho. Hope everyone is ok

AbsInTheClub · 16/04/2015 18:24

Naughty! :)

All fine here. Just chilling out, waiting! Am in no rush - want to do a bit more of the hypnobirthing book exercises first - have been a bit slack, but have at least now read it through.

Sparrowlegs248 · 16/04/2015 21:03

What is the FB group called?

AbsInTheClub · 16/04/2015 21:32

It's secret, and can't be found - PM me with your Fb URL so I can add you as a friend, then I can add you to the group. You are then free to defriend me, of course! But it's the only way to get into the private closed secret group!

Cineraria, you sure you don't want to join Fb, just so you can be in the little Fb group of ours? It's a nicer set-up than this MN thread, imho.

Sparrowlegs248 · 16/04/2015 22:19

Abs I don't know what the url is and can't seem to pm you from my phone - I only have mobile internet. Can you try to pm me then I can reveal my true identity and see if you can find me that way? (If I can reply.....)

AbsInTheClub · 16/04/2015 22:35

I have PMed you.

Lolababy00 · 17/04/2015 09:51

snooky17 I will be watching OBEM as I'm feeling fat an old ... Not helping doing extra hours at work and needing to sleep all the time.
Hope everyone is well
Also I have had no curtains or blinds in most rooms due to new windows for several weeks ... Threaten DP with the chopping off of his balls if they are not up by Saturday evening !!!!!

Gingerbreadlady1 · 17/04/2015 10:23

Oh no lola, hope youre feeling better today?

I felt like id been best up last night & this morning following a few hours of gardening. Had a proper hobble on!

Last day at work, fuuccccckkkkk! Shock

AbsInTheClub · 17/04/2015 10:52

Lola, if a man says he will put the curtains up, he will. There is no need to remind him every six months about it! Grin

We have blinds up in all rooms, but no room is really dark if we want darkness - I might want a dark room for birthing, will just have to close my eyes!

Hope you have a good last day at work, Gingerb - don't work too hard!

Snooky17 · 17/04/2015 11:21

Lola am shocked you have had to threaten your OH re the curtains surely men just do as asked straight away, listen to every word not just the first few and last few ..................... Oh wait a minute we are talking about Men so constant nagging and threats then lol.
Ginger with you on the hobbling baby is still high up not dropped at all, so god knows what it will be like when/if that happens

stubbornstains · 18/04/2015 17:01

ginger, I sowed some beetroot and chard seeds on the allotment last week, and it genuinely nearly finished me off! I didn't even do any digging....The allotment is terraced, on a ridiculously steep slope, and I just could not manage to get up and down to the stream to do any watering Sad. (have enlisted watering help now). I couldn't sleep that night for exhaustion!

Wow, I've just had the most gloriously lazy day! XP has taken DS off to acquire some more minor injuries, and I've done practically nothing! I have just longed around and eaten- I've only just got dressed. It feels good Grin.

Had my 34 week appointment yesterday (I'm 34 weeks tomorrow). God, it's something when even the MW makes jokes about whether I've got more than one in there Angry.....It turns out that I am measuring slightly big for dates, but she had a feel and thinks the baby is about normal size....maybe I've just got lots of fluid. If I'm still measuring big in 2 weeks she might send me for a scan.

Can't help remembering that it's inshock's due date.....thinking of you, lady!

stubbornstains · 18/04/2015 17:03

Ooh look, I managed a full set of cross party emoticons in that last post- here's a Envy one to complete the set....glad MN doesn't have a purple one!

OP posts:
AbsInTheClub · 18/04/2015 20:01

:) Lovely and colourful with all those smileys! :)
Hope your DS didn't come back with any more injuries. My DS has bashed his face and is sporting a big bumpy bruise on his forehead - hope it goes before the new baby is here; he'll spoil all the photos!

Glad you had a nice lazy day! We took DS to the funfair, I couldn't go on anything, of course, but he had a great time!

I hope InShock is ok.
