Thanks girls, you lot are lovely!

Have made an appointment with the Dr for Friday and have managed to get my midwife appointment in 2 weeks so i'll be 8 weeks rather than the 10 weeks when they told me the appointment would be so feel a bit better about that!

Welcome WeePoppy congratulations!

roughtyping · 04/03/2015 19:27

Hello everyone Smile

What apps are you all using?

Porchrules · 04/03/2015 19:46

So glad I'm not the only one still on knicker patrol (dam dampness!) and also dodging awkward conversations about plans for 'next year' with my boss... um... 'yeah I'd love to run that in December, no problem.' That's actually gonna be a really big problem. I hate the lying and the waiting!!

This is the SLOWest month ever!!

We've told our parents and my best friend (I need to be able to worry to someone!) but trying to hold off for another four weeks (which will be about 10 wks) before anyone else. But I don't think I'll get all the way through to the scan at 12 before a few more people are in the loop. I've got quite a bit of bridesmaid-ing to do this year and I need to try to successfully navigate some hen dos etc.! Is everyone else waiting for scans before spreading the news too far?

Porchrules · 04/03/2015 19:50

Oh and rough, I'm using the What to Expect app (very American but some quite good content) and the Ovia pregnancy one (similar to the ttc version with updates and daily details etc, which I quite like). I basically just need an app that reminds me everyday to 'stop obsessing and relax'. Let me know if you find one of these anyone! Wink

HopeFull28 · 04/03/2015 19:53

Hi roughtyping I'm using ovia pregnancy.
I've only told my sis and best friend and obviously OH atm going to try and wait for scan to tell everyone else Hmm

ShortLashes · 04/03/2015 20:53

Congrats to all the latest BFP-ers Flowers

I'm 5 weeks with my first and so far it's just me and my DH in the know. Think we'll tell parents once I've had my GP appointment in the next couple of weeks - would just feel more confident with someone else's confirmation that I really am brewing a baby!

roughtyping I'm using Glow Nurture app- it's quite nice as you can have someone else download a 'mirror' version so they get alerts about how far along you are and snippets of info. My DH got an alert while he was at work to say the baby was the size of a lentil and he quite liked that Smile Also it prompts you to take your vitamins, drink water etc. which I find quite helpful although I can't say I have got into a routine with the pelvic floor exercises! Any tips anyone!?

babyhector · 04/03/2015 21:27

Thanks oh all for being so welcoming! I'm glad to see its not just me interesting every niggle and damp feelings. Today, I certainly had waves of nausea. Good sign but worried its started so early. Told DH the good news this morning, he sent me to do a digital just in case. So later this afternoon did the clear blue and it came up as pregnant 2-3. I might be further on than I think - maybe explains the nausea. As a result I rang the gp, a midwife rang me back and simply said I'd get an appointment through for a booking visit and scan at the same time between 10-12 weeks then I'll see her at 16 weeks. The next 8 weeks are going to be so long!

We were discussing when to tell the parents, it's tough, I don't want to let them know before a scan but husand feels if we are seeing them at Easter we needs to let them know. These are dilemmas I would have never of tought off!

Downloaded the ovia app and bounty. I used the ovia fertility app for the past 6 months and found it good. Figured I would work out which app I preferred.

I'm finding it so hard to concentrate, not sure where to start! My mind seems alive with excitement and nerves! A question I had is what pregnancy supplesments are people taking? I was on pregnacare conception but I'm guessing I need to move into a purely pregnancy one?

Xx

Focusfocus · 04/03/2015 21:36

Was on pregnacare conception and now on Zita West Vital Essence and Vital DHA. but regular pregnacare should be good too! Good luck with sharing news or hiding it! Am no good at hiding but managing mostly!!

tootsroots · 04/03/2015 21:38

Porch- i too have millions weddings this year and BM for a couple! one... well i think all going well i will be 8 months pg!! i am trying to convince the bride to get me the largest size and bless her she is telling me to get a 12 "( snug) or 14.. perfect.. and i want 16 - she thinks its my confidence talking NOT obvs the fact i will be MASSSSSSIVELY preggers!

Wedding next weekend and 2 more before 12 weeks then several over summer! sober weddings. yulkch.

Rees glad you are getting early scan and gp appt all booked.

Rough i use Ovia, what to expect, Pregnancy +, Bounty ( don't - it is pure spam) and my pregnancy. Ovia is my fav, Preg+ has best graphics but these stop at 14 weeks then you pay. My Preg.. slow, i want to obsess over information and updates . it is lacking on info day to day. My 8 month prego mate suggested My Preg. i am unsure.

I hope pray begthat November is not overly busy.. i only have 3 suites at the birth centre at my hosp.. if full i need to go to the normal multiple bay ward! I am no prude but not sure 50 shades helped.. i was so bored by it i went to bed early without a glance at poor DH.

tootsroots · 04/03/2015 21:43

babyHector, it is so hard to work when to tell anyone.. i have told DH, physio ( had to know cos of treatment), hairdresser ( dye avoidance the grey hair is awful that i think my mates will guess from that alone ) facialist ( no zapping with machines) and erm.. GP.. priorities... right?

We will tell DH parents and his bro in May and my mum will find out when we go for a posh tea on mothers day, just me and her. ( which means i need to call my dad just after or she will blab when she is home). I want to tell my bro but he is studying for exams so when they are done i guess!( can't be too selfish!)

roughtyping · 04/03/2015 22:00

I've been using Ovia (as used it to track cycles), I like the graphics... I just want more information!! tootsroots I saw preg+, downloaded it then deleted it in fury when I realised it only went to 14 weeks! Will have a look at some of the others, cheers all.

Some sad news - my papa passed away tonight. All 4 of my grandparents were alive and mobile when DS was born, and this baby won't know any of them. Sad

CishAndFips · 04/03/2015 22:06

ha ha tootsroots i love your priorities. i have had major damp fear today must have been the toilet 80 times. gave up on gp after 10 phone calls so will nip round tomorrow. luckily not in work this week so havent needed to worry about hiding morning sickness from colleagues.

tootsroots · 04/03/2015 23:07

Rough -
Am truly
Sorry for all your losses and the passing of your papa - Flowers hope you are bearing up ok .

wtfishappening · 04/03/2015 23:09

Rough Thanks sorry for your loss.

I haven't got any pregnancy apps yet as my family and friends just go on my phone whenever they feel like. Last time I had baby centre and liked that one.

BowiesJumper · 05/03/2015 08:24

I've got ovia, what to expect, pregnancy+ and baby centre and glow nurture. I think I like pregnancy+ and glow best and will delete a couple as I go on. No need for 5 of them!!

I'm just waiting for my midwife appointment letter now, even though the appointment won't be for at least 5 weeks. Impatient Grin

BowiesJumper · 05/03/2015 08:27

Rough I'm sorry about your grandad. Flowers

CishAndFips · 05/03/2015 08:27

Flowers sorry for your loss rough

kep1979 · 05/03/2015 08:32

Rough sorry for your loss Flowers

Two questions for everyone: 1) when do you reckon my boobs will stop hurting? ATM i don't want them to as it convinces me i am actually pregnant, but can't remember when this disappears as a symptom? And 2) for those of you who have migraines what can we take? I usually take cocodamol as it is the only thing that touches them - i wil ask GP when i go next week but thought i'd seek opinions in the meantime as i usually get them monthly (hormonal) so am overdue!

I did probably my hundredth FRER this morning and the test line was loads darker than the control. So am feeling pretty happy this morning Grin

Lemondrizzletwunt · 05/03/2015 08:43

Hi all! Can I join? Got my BFP yesterday, tested for DH's birthday and got a positive, whoop! I am 4 weeks today, and panicking at the twinges, dribbly knicker feelings and everything else in between. Currently worrying that the bean will have spina bifida as I was a bit lax in taking the old folic acid this month...am now taking it with renewed vigour and will be off to get a good pregnancy multivit this evening!

kep not sure about the first question but im sure theu will. as for migrainesa friend of mine was told just paracetamol. do those cold sticky pad things u put on your forehead work? welcome lemon and congrats on ypur bfp.

TakesTwoToTango · 05/03/2015 09:29

rough so sorry about you papa Flowers

reeree speaking as someone who generally bleeds more in pregnancy than when I'm not pregnant I've learned a bit about it in recent years (this is my 4th pg - 2dcs and 1 mc). Feel free to ask me anything you want and I'll do my best to answer. It's a horrid waiting game in early pg but the thing to hang onto is that it's much more likely than not that everything it going to turn out absolutely fine. And nothing you do/don't do will change that. Lots and lots of women experience some sort of spotting in pregnancy and go on to have healthy full term babies. If bleeding signifies a mc it will usually get heavier and heavier and be accompanied by pain and cramps. If it is very dark like prune juice and accompanied by pain in your tummy or shoulder then you need to get checked for ectopic. If all you have is a bit of spotting and no pain then that's a good sign and probably nothing to worry about! Hope that is helpful and leaves you feeling more reassured. Fwiw I spotted off and on from before my bfp until about 20 weeks with both my dc!

kep1979 · 05/03/2015 09:49

lemon welcome to the dribbly knickers club Smile - congratulations on your BFP!

ann I really can't remember... have had to go bra shopping already as was getting lovely double boob! Plus my underwire was killing me so now have a mampy maternity bra. It felt really early to be getting new ones but I was in agony!

cish unfortunately when I get a full blown migraine paracetamol doesn't touch it. And those pads soothe but don't get rid. Oh well, maybe I will be blessed and get no migraines! Will speak to GP - I'm sure there is a solution!

Just looked in the mirror and whoah my skin on my chin has erupted - I'd forgotten all about the pregnancy acne joys!

ReeRee86 · 05/03/2015 09:51

takestwo thank you so much for taking the time to explain that all for me. It is so very kind of you and really reassuring.

It was literally just like watery and very pale brown on wiping (and nothing on the panty liners I have had on every day since my BFP to ramp up the knicker checking capabilities!!) and I haven't had anymore last night or this morning. No cramps either so i'm thinking it's not a terrible sign.

I generally overthink things anyway and my SIL has suffered 3 mcs (the last of them just last Friday) so I think I am just waiting for something to go wrong which is just awful! I am booked in to see the GP tomorrow so hopefully that will put my mind at rest too!

rough I am so sorry to hear about your Papa Flowers I have no living grandparents either and it is something I feel sad about.

TakesTwoToTango · 05/03/2015 10:21

reeree I'm so sorry for your SIL Sad

Hope fully your gp will be reassuring. Be prepared though that done doctors are understandably quite clinical about it all (being told its probably fine but if you are going to mc there's nothing you can do and no way to tell other than wait and see may be true, but doesn't help with the nerves!!).
