Hi WinterBaby! Congratulations" Haven't got an EDD yet but expect it to be sometime in November. When did you get your BFP?

WinterBabyof89 · 20/02/2015 16:36

Congrats to you too Smile
My ovulation date might just nudge me into October but period dates say 1st November. I tested at 11dpo.
How about you?

When did you test?

We had been trying off and on for so long that I'd given up on keeping track of period / ovulation dates. But I had a little bleed on 8/2 which was wierd and which I guess was an implantation bleed. Tested on 12/2 and there it was - BFP! Tested with a CB Digital on 13/2 just to see the magic word, and then used the other one yesterday to check the timer had moved on! Thrilled!

WinterBabyof89 · 21/02/2015 08:42

I'm so pleased you got your bfp!

I'm also on the October thread because my dates might just put me into October & I'll be having an early CS anyway..

I think you'll be due in October as well by the sound of your dates :)

So is this your first? I have one DS, who will be 6 later this year. Rather a big gap, but we've really struggled with having a second. Couple of mishaps over the last three years, so couldn't be happier that this has happened naturally (especially at the age of 43). I'm just trying to take each day as it comes and not let the craziness take hold...

WinterBabyof89 · 21/02/2015 09:01

It's hard isn't it to fend off the craziness!!

This will be my third. I've a DS who'll be 4 in Spring, I had a DD last year who sadly died after a labour complication - so this will be the baby I didn't think I'd have!

Hope our pregnancies go well for the both of us then!! Smile

How terrible. That must have been gutting beyond belief, for all of you. And how brave you are to get right back out there after such heartbreak... what a leap of faith. We have decided not to tell anyone until 12 weeks - with a miscarriage in June 2013, my parents knew, and we'd told some very close friends and it was awful to have to tell them the bad news. I couldn't bear their sadness on top of my own. Although I think I might explode at some point...

WinterBabyof89 · 21/02/2015 10:23

Sorry to hear of your struggles in the last few years, especially the MC.

Words fail me when I try to portray how painful an experience it was really..she would have been 7 months old next week. But I look forward to the day I get to take a baby home from the hospital - 2015 might be my year!

Dealing with other peoples pain on top of you own is very tough so I completely get where you're coming from by keeping it under wraps until a bit later on. I'm also trying to do the same but it's hard having told everyone about my first two pregnancies the same day I got my bfp ha!

We can do it - stay strong! Smile

Yes we can! I tried to work my dates back and I think the October board may be where I end up - you were right! Going to see my GP on Monday and expect he'll confirm that. Apart from heartburn, I have no other symptoms right now. I was pretty sick with DS and much as it was horrid, I would welcome it now as a sign that my hormones are firing. Bring it on!

WinterBabyof89 · 21/02/2015 11:52

Hope all goes well with GP!
I've changed surgery since my last pregnancy & they don't have appts to confirm pregnancy, they just refer you to the midwife at 8 weeks which I find rather bizarre.

Heartburn isn't enjoyable.. But glad to hear you're otherwise well!
Each pregnancy I've had symptoms appear sooner than the last.
I've had cramping, nausea & an upset tummy - my period's not even due until tomoro!
Hopefully you have a smooth road of it, but plenty of time for symptoms to catch up to you ha!

AmandaMae · 21/02/2015 12:28

So your BFP was 5 days before AF was due - that's pretty good going! Hope the symptoms aren't too bad - the cramping would have me worried out of my mind. And yes, that is wierd that your GP don't see you. Given the last two years and my advanced age, I'm hoping for a referral to an early pregnancy assessment unit. We shall see...

WinterBabyof89 · 21/02/2015 12:37

I would think you'd get that referral! Fight for it if you don't though..

Yeah! I've never tested that early before as I normally waited for AF to be late..but I felt pregnant so curiosity got the better of me!
The hormone shift really affects me. I have a shorter temper & become more irritable - poor DH & DS..

Can't wait to get past this stage & start feeling kicks/grow a bump etc.. That's when the good stuff starts!

AmandaMae · 21/02/2015 12:51

I'd just like to get to 12 weeks, and know that things were going well! Everything else will be gravy!

Juniper44 · 21/02/2015 21:24

Hi both.

First of all, so sorry to hear about your previous experiences. I can't imagine how heartbreaking it must be to lose a baby after birth.

I'm very tentatively joining. I got a very faint line on a FRER this evening, so am keeping my fingers crossed that I'm not just imagining it! I think I may have miscalculated how many dpo I am, though, so I thought I was 13dpo today but might actually be 12 or 11... so early November for due date I think (hope!).

WinterBabyof89 · 21/02/2015 22:09

Welcome juniper and many congrats on your bfp!! Lovely name btw..
It's all guess work isn't it with dpo until the 12 week scan gives us a more accurate date! Time will fly by hopefully

AmandaMae · 22/02/2015 07:35

Hi juniper. Welcome! Just wondering if you tested again this morning? Did you get the result you wanted? Fingers crossed for you...

Forgot to take my Cyclogest last night so have spent last 20 minutes Googling to find out whether I've messed everything up! Panic stations...

Juniper44 · 22/02/2015 10:34

Did another FRER this morning. Line is definitely there and getting darker Smile. Process not helped my DD! I can imagine I'll be saying that a lot.

I'm feeling a bit shell shocked at the reality of it, even though it was planned! How am I going to love it as much as I love DD? How am I going to be able to give DD the time and attention I want to? How am I going to survive pregnancy without being able to take to my bed???

Juniper44 · 22/02/2015 10:56

*by!

WinterBabyof89 · 22/02/2015 17:45

It's amazing how unnerving a bfp can be - even when it's planned!
I felt the same with my last two bfps (this one was different though). I also had the same worries about adding another child to the mix & felt a bit guilty at times for doing so!

But when dd arrived I loved her as much as my ds. Ds would have been a fab big brother - it's nice to see that side of your dc..

So try not to worry about that because it'll all just click into place Smile
I'm 4 weeks today.. 3 weeks until I can have a reassurance scan.

OP posts:
AmandaMae · 23/02/2015 10:13

Excellent news, juniper! I have the same fears - both my husband and I are only children, so you can imagine how hard it is for us to envisage loving two children as we love our DS. I know we will though - in the same way we couldn't imagine how much we would love our first, and that just happened.

AmandaMae · 23/02/2015 11:08

Got my referral to the early pregnancy assessment unit! Hopefully that means I will get an early scan. I think I'm about 5+2 so maybe only two weeks or so to go. Wish I could stop the knicker-checking...

Usernamedilemma · 23/02/2015 11:48

Hello everyone! Can I join this thread please :)
Tested positive on Thursday and have spent the weekend getting my head round my 'happy surprise'
I'm telling my partner tonight and I'm not sure how he is going to take the news, it will be his 1st (my 3rd)
Good luck to everyone on this thread

kep1979 · 23/02/2015 13:21

Hi all, can I join too? Got my BFP last night, so still reeling from the shock. Have been trying since 2011 and told that we needed IVF as we both have issues so absolutely gobsmacked! Due date is 6 November from my calcs, although I will have section so may be an October baby. I have two boys (10&8) from a previous arsehole relationship, this will be dh's first. He still doesn't believe it! I am only 11dpo too..... so just want to get past the end of the week when my period is due.

WinterBabyof89 · 23/02/2015 13:21

Welcome usernamedilemma
Congrats on your bfp! Hope it goes well telling your DP..Smile

amanda yay for the referral - fab news.. Two weeks is no time away so will be here before you know it (hopefully)!

I've officially missed my period now which makes it a little more real.. Smile growing babies is stressful but massively exciting!
