We've booked a 4D scan for 26 weeks. Had one at 26 weeks with DD and it was fantastic. Apparently too much after 28 weeks the baby can be too squashed and too much before baby can be too thin and less baby like

Emz1989 · 10/02/2015 21:12

Oh hadn't really thought about poor baby looking squashed... Perhaps 28 weeks would be better than waiting til 30+ ! x

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 10/02/2015 21:20

Glad to hear of more good scans Smile.

I'm shattered today... Just a usual day of toddler mummying - hoovering, swimming, cleaning the bathroom, doing more laundry than i care to imagine, prepping meals for the rest of the week, picking one hundred million things off the floor (thanks dd, I'm so over bending over already!). I'm stupidly tired - it's pathetic!

Dd rewarded me for being supermum (Wink) by doing a pooplosion the like of which I haven't dealt with since she was about 9mo! The added difference now being that she was really upset by the whole thing Hmm She calmed down, though, enough to tell daddy that "I did a huge massive poo that did go everywhere". Nice.

Bed soon, I think!

jazzyjenbo · 10/02/2015 21:37

Pas... My dd did a poonami last week and was hosed down in the shower... Not done that like you say in a ling while.. She also ran to her dad when he cane home saying 'i had a shower coz of poo poo' Confused

Alisvolatpropiis · 10/02/2015 21:38

How much are 4d scans, generally speaking?

Alis There is a place near me that does a large selection of packages - based on how long you're in there, how much detail you'd like to be told and how many images, keyrings, images on disc etc that you'd like to take home. Prices vary from £75-£185.
4:30am and my insomnia has totally got the better of me! Normally I try and stay in bed and rest even if I'm awake but it's just the most frustrating thing! I'm. So. Tired!! I just wish I could switch off....

htf2 · 11/02/2015 13:00

I have just been reading my firms policy in detail and realised I miss out on our mat leave pay by 1 week! 'if has been employed by the uk firm for 12 months at the 15th week before due date on Mat1B' and I will have been employed here for 11 months and 3 weeks at that point.... Not that it would have changed anything I know but feeling stupid :( Maybe the midwife can shift my due date a week???! That sounds perfectly reasonable right?!

I have asked and they are going to see about it... as I am on a secondment I have been with the firm for 4 years ... fingers crossed!

Oh no, that's so annoying htf. I hope they bend the rules a little as it's only a week and you have been with the firm for longer than that.

AnythingNotEverything · 11/02/2015 13:59

Spare you on secondment from another international branch (Australia?).

I would hope they wouldn't go by the letter of the law. At the very least you should be covered under your substantive post.

AnythingNotEverything · 11/02/2015 15:09

are you

WillowHouse · 11/02/2015 15:55

Coming back to this :-) My hg got really bad again and for the last five months i've been lieing staring at a wall. 20 week scan went fine and i'm having one wee girl - she's due on the 15th june but i really want her to come on the 9th so i keep asking her nicely ;-) I can get up and move about now but five months of bed rest has left me with a lot of muscle pain and very weak. My dds are delighted as i can't mange the 10 min uphill school run so i am taking them in the car. Off to back read and try and catch up a bit.

htf2 · 11/02/2015 16:11

oh dear willow, welcome back! Congratulations on your little girl and hope you really have left the hg behind you now. I should warn you back reading this will be exhausting enough in itself!
yes anything i'm on secondment from Australia- I don't think it covers it exactly but am hoping they make an exception. Will certainly influence how I feel about signing on for an extra year or two here!

htf2 · 11/02/2015 16:12

by 'I have asked' I hope it's obvious I meant I have asked the human resources people at work to consider my circumstances, not that I have asked the midwife to fake a detail on my form :D

Chookford · 11/02/2015 16:13

willow sorry to hear that, but congrats on your little girl... Lovely news

cuphat · 11/02/2015 17:44

Don't worry, that was how I read it htf.

Sorry you've been so ill but I'm glad your scan went well willow.

Kyz · 11/02/2015 21:23

Evening all :)

junebug a stone doesn't sound too bad at all! I daren't look Blush I was doing really well, but the past few weeks i've been constantly ravenous and have been grazing pretty much constantly which can't have been good!

hi and welcome apple

glad your scan went well Whereis

speed you do sound busy indeed!

that is busy indeed jazzy! Nice to see baby though :) I am having a 4d scan on 2nd March, then another one after then but i'm not sure when - I got a scan package, it cost a couple of hundred pounds but has lots of visits and as someone who worries, I find it very reassuring to see baby regularly

pleased your scan went well emz!!

pas poosplosions can really be just that, can't they! I remember once DP shouted me through e's monitor very urgently, I went upstairs and he had taken e's trousers off and poo had splattered everywhere as it was all in the legs! Gross! Poor dp had it splattered everywhere!!! You've also reminded me, lol, DS asked to go to the toilet the other day (he does rarely for a poo but still wears nappies all the time), and he said he was finished so I took him off but had to grab a clean nappy as I had forgotten one. So i left him bare arsed for all of two minutes and I came downstairs and DS was sat in the corner and before I could say anything he pointed to my lovely rug and said 'poo'd on floor' LOL. He clearly hadn't quite finished!!!

alis the place near me does packages, I'm not sure how much one scan is but the package I got was £199 and includes several visits, a heartbeat bear, a photo frame and a dvd or two, plus a multitude of colour and black and white photos

htf that's so annoying, hope something can be sorted, it's only a tiny bend of the rules so fingers crossed

hi willow and congrats on your little girl :)

kaybug · 11/02/2015 21:50

hehe wouldnt have judged you either way you meant it htf Wink Grin Fingers crossed you get proper mat pay x

Haha Tori - the pg dreams are so strange. With dd I dreamt at one point that I gave birth to a hairbrush. Shock

Last night I dreamt President Putin was captured in my mum and dad's larder, and was trying to kick me in the bump. There are no emoticons for that!! I also dreamt that a boy in my class was sick all over the school foyer. That's more standard fare for me (both waking and sleeping!).

Jackiebrambles · 12/02/2015 08:23

Morning all!
LOL at giving birth to a hairbrush, spiky!! :)

I haven't had a dream for days, I think i'm so tired I'm just going straight to deep sleep because work has been so manic and DS has started waking briefly at around 3am! Luckily he just wants a drink of water and then he drops back off but its getting out of bed in the cold and then trying to get back to sleep that's a struggle :0/

Finally its my scan day today!! DH and I still haven't decided whether we are finding out the gender!

PregnantAndEngaged · 12/02/2015 09:20

Help! Trying to find bedding for newborns (I mean something to keep them warm). But I've read that blankets are potentially dangerous because they could come untucked and the baby could suffocate. I've read that swaddling can damage their hips, and also tbh I don't like the idea of it as it's like putting a baby in a straight jacket! I've heard sleeping bags are unsafe for newborns because they can end up slipping through and into the bag.

So what CAN I use?! :( Would it just be OK to put him in like a warm suit without blankets/swaddle blankets?

Jackiebrambles · 12/02/2015 09:29

When my DS was born it was Feb and he wore a vest, sleep suit (babygro) and then when he was in his moses I used what they call cellular blankets.

They are full of holes so safe for baby to sleep with because even if they went over their face they could still breathe.

You get them in packs from Mothercare.

I never swaddled DS either, never could get the hang of it.

cuphat · 12/02/2015 09:39

We used a cellular blanket until DD was big enough to go into a sleeping bag.
